It was the weekend, and in all honesty, the senshi had a few things on her mind. Given her previous visits to the asteroid that was supposedly her home, she was curious about what the asteroid, Iris, was like during the day. Every time she had gone to visit the dirt covered rock, she had gone at night, and the place was practically pitch dark.
Another thing which had been bothering her mind was her eternal attack. Certainly, she had made some pretty drastic improvements with being able to form the arch of colored lights, but it still failed to be what it should have been.
Whatever it should have been.
All ********* could offer as advice was that the senshi should think of the colors not as 7 separate colors, but forming one entity. Again, whatever that meant.
Weekends usually meant kids could hang out, and parents could usually relax. However, this was not necessarily the case for Ellie. Mostly in the parent department. Both of her parents worked, and weekends weren't necessarily times of relaxation for them. In fact, Dad was at the car lot again, trying to earn the highest sales for the year end, and Mom was off running errands. Lots of errands because she couldn't do most of it during the week.
This left Ellie home. Alone.
She had tried to ignore all of those questions dwindling in her mind. However, after sitting in her room on a beanbag chair, staring at the ceiling for about 15 minutes, she got up to her feet. She went to her dresser and pulled out something that was hiding under a pile of clothing. A bright yellow boomerang.
"I can't believe I'm doin' this..." Her feet led her to her bedroom door. She pressed the little lock, then moved to her window to lower the blinds. The blonde didn't need her neighbors watching as she henshined up. She also didn't need them to watch her rather sudden disappearance after she pulled out a cell phone.
With her eyes shut, she took a deep breath and hit the proper button. Her eyes didn't see the journey, and in all honesty, she wasn't certain if she wanted to open her eyes once she felt the familiar sands beneath her boots. It was the middle of the day. Right? There wasn't anything to be uncertain about, right? It would still be absolutely desolate like all the other times, and maybe she'd be able to see that destroyed wood structure. Right?
God damn it Iris, open your eyes already!
Her golden eyes suddenly popped open. She had expected anything but what she found.
"What th'f*ck?!!!! Why th'hell is it still dark?!!! It's day time, ain't it?!!" With her free hand that wasn't holding her boomerang, she tugged at some of her strands of hair. She paced, trying to get out this frustrated energy out of her. Was this asteroid located in a black hole or something?
The or something was probably the most accurate description for what was going on.
Eventually, she let out an aggravated sigh and ceased to pace. "God damn... I'm gonna try t'figure ya out..." She shook her head, as if she was talking to an annoying child, despite the fact the child was the celestial object she was standing on. Casually, she dropped the yellow piece of wood on the ground.
Taking in a deep breath, she clapped her hands together. "Alright... let's do this sh*t!" She closed her eyes and the space between her hands began to glow. It was just Sailor Iris and the Asteroid Iris. Nobody to distract her. Nobody to rush her.
Yet somehow that didn't seem to be the issue. In her mind, she was trying to understand the clue that ********* had given. How was she supposed to think of a rainbow as anything other than seven different colors attached to each other? Was she just supposed to think of a rainbow as just a rainbow? It was hard to block out the other aspect where it was made of many colors.
In a determined tone, the eternal senshi cried out "Iris Rainbow Revenge!" Whipping her hands apart, she formed another brightly colored arch. It felt as if the air had been sucked out of her lungs and no matter how much she'd deny it later, her fingers were trembling out of anticipation.
Had she done everything right? Had she formed the rainbow the way it was meant to be?
With another deep breath, she flung the rainbow as best as she could to match a two handed boomerang throw. Maybe something sensed her uncertainties, or maybe life, maybe even fate was laughing at the yellow-suited senshi's expense? Yet, when the rainbow escaped her hold, instead of sailing through the air like a boomerang would, the arch wobbled to one side. It didn't break apart immediately, but just before the arch lamely wobbled off to one side, the colors split into two bands of light. One was composed of the warm colors, and one composed of the cool colors in the spectrum. Both shortly collided into the ground, colors fading and the collision not even causing any agitation to the sands.
A hand went up to her forehead, pressing against a brow, rubbing into a circle. "...wow..." It still wasn't right. Yet, even in that failure, she still had managed to improve drastically. It made her wish she could put a target behind the spots that got hit by the colors, just so she could see what it actually did. Sailor Iris stood there in awe, staring off into the darkness. She stood there for five minutes.
"Sh*t... I should do somethin'..." Heaving a sigh, she relocated the boomerang she brought with her. The teenager would end up spending another two hours and 13 minutes on the asteroid, and for the rest of that time, she worked as hard as she could throwing that boomerang and attempting to master throwing such an object.
