The MEWCon (Manga & Exotic Worlds Convention) is coming up, and I was wondering if anyone here is going? The Kashyyyk Base of the Rebel Legion was asked by MEWCon to attend as guests, so I'll be going there on Saturday. I think that the Rebel Legion will be having a booth if I understand correctly, so for at least a few hours I'll be hanging out around there. If anyone is going to MEWCon, feel free to stop by and say hello, and even meet some of my fellow Rebel Legion base members here from Oregon. smile Or we could always meet up after the Rebel Legion booth (or whatever they're having). The Rebel Legion event is from 11 AM until 4 PM I believe. I will, however, only be there on Saturday. And yes, I'll be in costume.
MEWCon runs from Friday December 31, 2010 to Sunday January 2, 2011.
I wont suggest this as an official meet, but I thought if anyone was going to the convention, there could possibly some form of a "light meet-up". smile
For those who don't know, the Rebel Legion is a world-wide Star Wars costuming club, and partial affiliate of Lucas Films, where members dress up as the "good guys" from the Star Wars movies, television series, comics, books and games. There's a "base" (a division of the club) in every state in the US, and nearly every country around the world. The Kashyyyk Base is the division of the RL here in Oregon. The Rebel Legion is the counterpart of the Imperial 501st, which is a costuming guild that focuses on the "bad guys" of the Star Wars universe.
When: Saturday, January 1st, 2011 Where: MEWCon @ Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel 8235 Northeast Airport Way Portland, Oregon 97220
I'll be wearing this...

And by the way, if anyone is interested, here's some pictures of some of the Rebel Legion members that went to the Star Wars Celebration V a few months ago (including me)...

(Yes, we're standing in front an Imperial TIE Interceptor. We "captured" it for the picture. razz )

I don't know if anyone is going today, but just in case, I recently found out that we wont be having a booth. The Rebel Legion Kashyyyk Base will simply be wandering the convention, so if you see me, feel free to say hello. smile

Got back from MEW Con a little while ago. It was interesting, though much smaller than I had expected. But fun nevertheless. I don't think that I saw anyone from this guild there, though. razz

True enough. I'm not sure how much MEW Con was to get into. Because we were invited to go, the Kashyyyk Base (Rebel Legion) and Cloud City Garrison (501st) got in free. We also had our own private suite, changing rooms, and had free snacks, drinks, and things to make sandwiches with. Not to mention we all had guides as well, most of which who also served as spotters for the Stormtroopers, as well as Boba Fett and Darth Vader. razz

If I remember right, it was about $40 to get in as the base price
