Who : Virgil, Byron, Luka, and Jez Where : Your Local Park Area When : Afternoon Weather : Chilly! Snow everywhere! Christmas was fast closing in, but winter itself was far more demanding. Everything that stood still seemed to be dusted or otherwise covered by snow. For someone who was fairly new to the world and its seasons, it was a fascinating time indeed.
Byron had taken Virgil along with him to the park while Milton went to get his shopping taken care of. The wizard seemed intent on stocking up for the winter- he’d even brought his bottomless bag along with him for the sole occasion of being able to shop on his own. Virgil had made enough of a debacle the last time he was allowed in the shop, so it would be a long time before he could re-earn the wizard’s trust. As much as he claimed to hate people, he did, unfortunately, rely on their commodities.
So in the park, there were a lot of children, running and screaming and getting their tongues stuck to light poles. Having wisely kept an eye on Virgil, Byron was able to get the young Raevan to sit still long enough to become interested in the art of making a snowman. Once given a task, it was safe enough to assume that the Raevan wouldn’t go galavanting into the wilderness, as was his occasional habit of being presented something new and exciting.
“Where a part of you came from,” Byron told him as they both patted snow onto the base of the snowman, “There were many celebrations for winter itself. People would dress up in clothes of all manner to represent the land and the fae folk. It was a bit like Halloween. Your homeland invented that one too, actually.”
“Aye? But were there presents?”
Byron chuckled softly, nodding, “Yes, but they were given by one’s neighbor, not just among family. And in some places, gifts only came to the poor.” He paused, grinning, “Imagine, a great fire, surrounded by dancers all in masks. Music, sweeter than anything you’ve ever heard, and food everywhere. You could dance with anyone and never know if, indeed, you were brushing sleeves with one of the immortal.”
”I’d know,” Virgil objected, grinning wryly, “I’d smell ‘em.”
”You wouldn’t either. Because most folk smeared themselves with...” And here the man picked up a handful of snow, “Ash.” Which he proceded to smear down the bridge the boy’s nose.
Virgil recoiled, laughing in delight, his wings fluffing and flapping as if to beat his attacker away. Of course, he was soon gathering snow for revenge, seizing handfuls off the snowman-in-progress as Byron flashed to his feet and made a show of trying to dart off after the nearest tree. Virgil flustered and flurried after him, tossing snow which, to his dismay, fell short or missed entirely. Byron disappeared behind one of the park’s sturdy oaks, and by the time Virgil reached it... there was no one there.
“Yeh b*****d!” Virgil called, dumbfounded and circling the tree like a dog that just missed the squirrel.

Just being out, it was still pure ecstasy for the Satyr. It was just his second time witnessing all this cold fluffy stuff falling from the sky that littered the ground, and needless to say, he was crazy over it. First finding it littering Elai's balcony, the Frei had shouted for his guardian to explain the nonsensical melting cotton balls. After much touching and a taste test, Luka had decided he rather liked this 'snow.' So, with much pleading and pointing, the Frei had managed to convince his guardian to take him out the park.
Dressed in a warm black pea coat and a chocolate colored scarf, Luka was well prepared for the cold that came with snow. Of course, being persuaded to wear the coat in the first place had been the major issue. The scarf and gloves being of much intrigue and thus taken without hesitation by the acupuncturist's ward. White sidebangs flowing out behind him, he floated ahead of Elai. With his ribbon dragging in the snow, Luka tagged on the sleeve of Elai's leather jacket. "Faster Elai. You walking much slow. Melting cotton balls will melt before I can play." Tugging on the taller man's sleeve rougher, the Frei paused when he saw something dart around a tree. It was a flash of silver and dark chocolate. Strange. What was it?
The acupuncturist couldn't help but smile at his charge. "There's no reason to rush so much Luka. It's wintertime. And from what the weatherman said, it'll be here for the whole week at least. We have all the time in the world."
"No Elai. No whole week have job monster." The Frei mumbled as he came to a complete halt, Golden orbs narrowed as Luka stared harder at the wooded area of the park. "Did see Elai? Something dark." Letting go of his guardian's arm, the Raevan floated towards the area. He looked around the trees to find the mysterious thing he had sighted. His interest was piqued. From what he had caught glimpse of, it appeared to be someone like him. Half chest, no legs and wings. Except, this one was dark like Ripley, and it even had brown triangles on his head.
"See what?" A puzzled expression on his face, the man followed after his charge. "Be careful Luka. It could be a feral dog."
Disregarding his guardian's comment, Luka smiled when he saw Virgil circling a tree. Bingo. "Hullo!" He called out to the stranger.

Virgil's eyes were up in the tree when the greeting came, trying to spot any sign of Byron among the bare-boned branches. His ears swiveled first, then his head followed. "Hullo!"
His babysitter was temporarily forgotten as Virgil took in the Raevan addressing him, quick enough to float right over to the satyr boy. It almost seemed as if he was going to smack right into him, in fact, but the moon-touched Raevan manage to stop himself exactly two feet away from Luka just in the nick of time.
"How'dya do? Who are ya, what dya know?" He grinned, "And can I steal ya fer a moment or are ya just passin' through?" Peering over Luka's shoulder, he searched for any sign of a cranky or neurotic guardian. Check.
