The midday sun glistened high in the sky. For perhaps for the first day in a while, the heat wasn't unbearable for a young leopon, and he was able to break out on his own. Safi's orchid eyes looked out over the horizon. He'd told his parents that he was going out for a run, and even though he felt bad for not inviting his twin, he needed some time alone.
Safi's thick tail swayed behind him as he jogged, content with bouncing through the tall grass that ran along this side of the river. A thin coating of mud and dirt covered his lower legs, giving his appearance a new twist. Sometime he would need to wash up, but for now, he just wanted to move.

Mani was enjoying the warm day for one reason far: She was near water. Seemed as though no matter the temperature, being near water cooled things down. Of course, if it was already cold then..the water would make it seem colder than it already was. The cheetah's dark coloured pelt did not lend well to warm days, so Mani always made a note to stay near water; even when on her big wanderlust adventures. Today seemed better than most though, and the dainty framed feline always enjoyed those sort of days.
At the moment, Mani was happily quenching her throat with some cool liquid. The water was very welcoming to her dry throat, which was something she was prone to when wandering for so long. She didn't mind getting her feet and legs wet to get a drink. It actually felt nice.

Safi's wanderings carried him to the river, where he dipped his head down into the cool water for a drink. The cold was shocking at first, but it helped to sharpen his focus. Something else was drinking just upstream from where he was and he was just curious enough to check it out.
The adolescent leopon licked his lips as he loped down the rivers edge, a little bounce in his step. What he saw surprised him. The possibility of it being another feline had crossed his mind, but female? An attractive female at that? Nope. Never crossed his mind. Now for his suave pick up line.
"Uhm...hello."

Mani looked up from the river and spied an adolescent male. A hybrid of some sort, though the cheetah could swear there was some lion in him. It didn't bother her, as she had no qualms about anyone being whatever they were. She accepted everyone, even if they hated her. Secretly, the dark pelted female wanted to come across more hybrids. They were always interesting in various ways, and cute as well.
" Hello, how are you today? "

Clear. You couldn't be too careful in the rogue lands, but luckily this time around the stranger seemed friendly. Safi approached with a smile, his thick tail curling into the air behind him. "I'm doing good. Thank you." It never hurt to be polite. "And I hope you don't think I'm rude, but are you a cheetah? I've never seen one before."
As embarrassing as it was, it was true. He'd seen leopards, lions and hybrids of a million kinds, but never a pure bred cheetah.

Mani tilted her head slightly at the hybrid's question. Had he really never seen a cheetah before? It seemed plausible enough, considered the countless other creatures that inhabited the land. It probably also depended on where the creature came from as well. " I'm doing well, thank you for asking " Mani said with a smile and a kind tone.
" It's not rude, don't worry. But yes, I am a cheetah. "

Was it that odd to ask? He assumed it was, considering the way she tilted her head. Safi wasn't an expert at body language, but that much he got. "Wow. I knew today was a special day, but I didn't image it being this wonderfully surprising." His smile grew. The cub in him had a million and one questions for the female, but he pushed it down. Best not to see like a complete idiot on the first day.
"Oh! That may not have been rude, but this was. I didn't introduce myself. My name's Safi."

" It's nice to meet you Safi, my name is Mani. " Her tail curled, her smile still on her face. " It's always nice to know that feeling comes through, eh? " Days were always better when you could feel something special about it in some sort of way. Not that other days were bad if they didn't have that feeling. Mani just tried to take life one day at a time, and it seemed to work for her. Why worry, and get stressed out?

"It is. I always look forward to being surprised." So much so that his parents had called him suicidal more than once. He liked to live his life on the edge of reason, with just enough insanity to spice things up. "Life has more meaning that way, I think. Instead of walking with your head down, you can meet every challenge that comes your way with a big grin." True to form, he grinned.

A soft smile graced the dark pelted maw, " An awfully good way to look at life, Safi. " Which made sense to the cheetah. If you walk with you head down, you don't feel confident and life can push you around abit. However, if you just lift your head up, you feel more confident with yourself, and ready to push back at life. Mani wouldn't admit it to the stranger that she'd just met, but.. the cheetah was usually the former rather than the latter. But, just as the days changed, so would her mood.

The teenaged hybrid beamed from the compliment. Even if his ego didn't need another step up, it hit another level, all the same.
"So tell me, where is the rest of your group? Surely a Goddess such as yourself wouldn't be travelling alone. Who knows what could happen to you." Safi blended his father's flirting skills with his general sense of concern. His family were rogues, but they travelled together for safety.

Mani couldn't tell if it was the warm sun that made her face warm, or.. if it was the kind words from the young male. A Goddess? Her? Mani's tail curled at the thought of a male actually finding her attractive. It was surely something that she wasn't used to. Sure, she'd been around males but they never usually showed any interest. She was nice looking, but in ther head, Mani didn't think that she was worth being complimented that well.
" I thank you for the kind words, Safi. But.. I travel alone on these lands. "

Safi's orchid eyes widened. "Alone? No family, travelling companions, friends....? Nobody?" He shook his head. "Wow. Nothing against you, thats perfectly fine if you want it that way, but...I imagine that would be very lonely." Now that he thought about it, she was probably just fine being alone when he'd barged into her personal space. Too late now.

Mani watched the leopon as he had absorbed her words, which apparently shocked him. The cheetah sighed softly, " ..Well, my parents used to be a part of a wandering group of performers, so I suppose I got their ' wandering feet '. True enough fact, because even as a small cub, she'd end up wandering off. It only got worse as she had grown, and one day Mani had walked far enough away from her parents without knowing it. From then on, she'd fended for herself. She knew that someday she'd see them again. Mani hung her head a little bit, " ..However, it does get lonely. I meet others every now and then but..not often enough. "

"Performers, huh? That sounds exciting." He smiled softly. "To be in the spotlight, with everyone watching you entertain them~ Amazing." Somewhere in the back of his mind, Safi pictured his own family as performers and ended up with a red veil. He shook his head. They were much too violent for that.
"Then...why not join our group? Granted, we're all related, but I'm sure they would welcome you with open hearts. You wouldn't necessarily even have to live with us. Just stay a couple of days and rest your paws knowing that your safe. That wouldn't be so bad, would it?"
