Cambria was in high spirits when she walked into the waiting room for the general practitioner. Alice was sick. Alleluia. She had a red nose and was constantly sniffling. Her face was terribly pale and she was covered in a light sheen of unhealthy sweat. She looked awful. And Cambria was thrilled.
At least she began in high spirits, but there were only a few toys which weren't stupid and other kids were monopolizing them. She'd managed to bully a contraption with beads on thick twisty wires from some dumb idiot but there's only so many times she can guide the beads along their pathway.
Her kingdom for entertainment!

Nora walked through the parking lot. Hand held by the maternal care giver, who was naturally on the phone. Nora sighed as they got into the elevator. She had been to a doctor before but never accompanied privately with an adult. An adult who was now her parent. The elevator doors opened and they glided out into the hallway and two on the left and 3 on the right and they dove into a door. Nora was suddenly in a doctors office. A private doctors office. Not a doctor who sat and checked you behind a curtain or in front of other children. Hunts took a seat and hung up her cell phone. Nora stood by the door, staring at the wall. "Nora, come and sit. See, there are other children here as well. You can play with them while I make some phone calls." Hunts pushed Nora gently over to the toys and where another young girl sat playing with beads on a wire that you moved about. Nora turned around and watched Hunts sit back down again and fiddle with her phone while she did paper work. Nora blinked and turned her head to watch the girl with the beads.

Cambria glanced up lazily with the door opened and then closed behind a tiny meta girl and her mother. She tilted her head to one side birdishly. Fresh meat? Amusement? Well she'd never find out if she didn't interact.
Waving the little girl over Cambria was prepared to get pelted with questions. It seemed the norm whenever she met some one. "What are you?" seemed most popular. Maybe this little girl wanted the beads and wire contraption. Then she could go bully a different toy. Or deny Tiny the "pleasure" of playing with it just for spite.
"Hey, Tiny." She said to the other girl. "What's shakin'?" She'd heard that phrase from one of Derrick's crappy movies.

Nora was approached by another girl in the room, she seemed to be the same age as Nora. The girl asked Nora a question, to which Nora replied very seriously, "Nothing is shaking at this present time in this location; however there could very well be an earth quake of some small magnitude somewhere in the world." Nora breathed after she spat the sentence out. She blinked and sat down on the stool to the left, pulling out her calculator and paper and pencils. She started muttering to herself about negatives and positives. Nora had not given a thought to the toys placed in front of her. She never did. All she wanted was her math, pencils and calculator. She had never had many interactions with people before, especially her own age.

A slooow blink and a blanked mind later, Cambria snapped out of the surprise at Tiny turned Strange. "Ooookay." Poking the strange specimen with a stick of some sort sounded like a plan. Things usually responded in normal ways when prodded. Cambria snagged one of the pencils and started poking the weirdo with the eraser side (after staring at the metal that wrapped the end of the pencil and eraser).

"Why are you doing that?" Nora asked the busy girl who had stolen one of her pencils. She stared at her and realized that she had no idea what this girls name was nor what she was even. Nora blinked several times and glanced at her care giver who sat several feet away flipping through her note book and yelling into the phone. Nora had never encountered another creature like this girl. She had never encountered a world quite like this. Filled with people and no numbers. She ventured out on a limb. She grabbed the prodding pencil.
"What...is...your..name?" She snapped the pencils eraser off the end in her panic at social interaction.

"Finally, a normal reaction." Cambria stared a moment at the snapped pencil, well, semi-normal anyway. "I'm Cambria. What are you doing?"

Nora sniffed, "I'm..Nora. I'm...doing some mathematical theorems." Nora blinked and stared at Cambria. This girls name...reminds me of a cranberry, but cranberry's are fruits and not people, Nora thought as she stared at her, holding her book of theorems close to her chest. The broken piece of pencil in her little hand was making a small cut on her palm. She didn't understand people, let alone this girl, who was her own age and height. It was all so unreal.

"Mathma-what-i-cals?" Cambria tilted her head again in puzzlement. Two way too big words and she had no idea what they meant. She felt a small feeling of doom... maybe she didn't want to know what these "theorems" were.

"They're beautiful" Exclaimed Nora as she knocked everything off the table, toys and all onto the floor, even pushing some kids out of the way as she unfolded her masterpiece. "This is my mathematical theorem for the 5th plane of dimension, even better, it could be called a map of sorts. It is so beautiful, i have worked so hard on it." Nora beamed and had spoken more words in that moment then she had the entire time at the orphanage. She glanced at the care giver, Hunts, who looked at her and smiled, knowing exactly what that huge piece of paper on the table was. It had been the first thing Nora showed her. Nora stood there and stared at the paper, covered in lines and mathematical computations, eraser marks and colorings. She turned and looked at Cambria, "Well...maybe its just me, after all. But i DO think its beautiful and it is my masterpiece." She went about folding up the piece of paper and placing it back in the pocket in her notebook. She headed back to her chair and sat down. Still clutching her notebook, she glanced around the room and noticed that no one had gotten mad at her for her outburst. No one had said a word. Inwardly, Nora was very pleased.

Cambria, to put it in plain terms, was baffled. Never had she ever met someone like this weirdo. At least she had a reaction over something. Clearing the table like that was a point in her favor. Even if all the numbers definitely were not. "The Fifth what now? A map? I just saw lotsa random numbers." That doom feeling was getting stronger.

"No, no, not random! All very full of meaning. It is a pathway through mathematical expression. Those random numbers were not random, they had a purpose. They explain a road through the dimension. I wont explain though, it would take too much time. But anyway, what do you like to do?" Nora turned her head so fast her neck cracked. She blinked twice and stared at Cambria. Almost seeming to stare through her and to the wall. Most unsettling, at best.

"Bla blaa bla blabbity bla bla." was all Cambria heard until some english right near the end, "But anyway, what do you like to do?" She perked up.
"I like to look at sparkly things. And poke things. And torment Alice." Here she pointed to a sick looking woman that was miserably blowing her nose. "And pulling Fluffy's tail. And play with my toys at home, and slide down slides, and swing, and polish shiny things." She ended her disjointed list with a large grin.

Tthat sounds...interesting." Nora blinked at her. Glancing at Alice, who looked sad. Nora shuffled her papers nervously. She glanced at the care giver, who was now reading a magazine. "I like slides, too" Nora said cautiously. "I used to like the swings the best though, they were my favorite." She remembered them quite fondly actually, she could look up into the sky on one in the dark and wonder where exactly Saturn was at that exact moment, what was going happening on its surface at that exact moment? That was Nora's favorite past time.

"Yeah! Swings!" Something normal and not weird! "It makes me feel like I'm flying when I'm on the swings and going really high." Maybe there was a normal kid in there somewhere. "What do you mean you did like it? Don't you swing anymore?"
