Snow, lots and lots of snow. The stuff was all over the place, and cold. She lifted a leg and put her hoof down, observing the well it made in the white stuff she nearly blended in with. Shrugging, she wandered off and away from the den while her mother, father, and siblings all slept. SHe was restless, slightly adventurous, and just wanted to see what was beyond the wall of bushes that surrounded her home area. Closing her eyes, she pushed through the bushes, their leafless branches scratching at her nose, face, and just everywhere as she pushed on. Her nose soon found no sticks to scratch at her and slowly, she opened her eys to look around. "Wow.." SHe looked around the area. It was huge! and coveredin snow.

Snow was rather new to the young mare, as she had been born earlier in the year during Spring, where flowers bloom and fruits were plentiful. On the other hand, winter was a harsh season, with a shortage of food of all kinds - not a nice season to grow up in, she imagine! Still, the white snow was beautiful to look at - it covered the land with a blanket of white... The perfect setting for a good story! She shivered due to the cold, but continued to move, knowing that to stop would make her feel colder. Her breathes made little mist clouds in front of her face as she took her daily walk through the forest, looking out for any sign of there being something different from when she took her walk the day before. Soon, she would reach the clearing in the forest where she would turn back to head home; she might be older now, but her herd still worries!

Giggling, she looked all around, ears perked and rosy cheeks she grinned and lept and hopped about from one snow drift to the next. She peeked out from one snow drift to see another soquili in the distance. She didn't know this mare or anything about her. She certianly wasn't one of the herd members. Her mother Hadn't mentioned anyone with such a look to them being in the herd. Quietly, she tried to crawl out of the snow drift only to slip and go tumbling down it's side, landing on her hind end. She rose colored socks on her legs sticking out like sore thumbs against the white of the snow.

She froze like a deer in headlights when she heard a sound coming from nearby, wondering if she was in danger. Slowly, she turned her head towards the direction of the sound, fearing the worse - only to spot a filly at the base of a snow drift; judging from her small size, she must still be quite the young filly... What was it doing out alone in the cold? She paused, relaxing as she smiled and approached the younger Soquili, lowering her head so that she was at the filly's eye level. Now that they were closer, she couldn't help but think that part of the filly's pelt reminded her of someone she had met a long time ago... Around this area. However, try as she might, Fleurite could not determine who it was.

"Hello there," She smiled again, her voice soft and gentle-sounding as she spoke, eyes looking into the filly's, "Who might you be?"

"Um.... Briallan.. I"m Briallan Oralee.." SHe smiled some. She wasn't so very sure this mare seemed friendly and nice. But could she really trust this stranger? Tossing causion to the wind, she moved her legs under her and stood up though stil a bit wobbly as she pushed up from the ground. Legs splayed, she waited till she had her balance and then she looked back up at the older mare and wagged her deer like tail. "Who're you?" She grinned wide blinking large innocent grey eyes.

"Briallan.... What a lovely name!" She nodded as she straightened up, the smile never leaving her lips; foals just bring such joy with their innocence! She tossed her head to get some loose strands of mane out of her eyes before giggling at the sight of the foal's wagging deer-like tail; could she be a Cerynei foal? While their numbers had rose since their arrival in Kawani, she had yet to meet and speak to one... They are such graceful, peaceful Soquili! She heard even heard that many are in tune with nature... Snapping out of her thoughts, she turned to face the filly again, "I'm Fleurite, but you may call me Fleur..."

Her tone then turned into one of mild concern, "So, what are you doing out here alone? Are your parents nearby?" She looked around, as if expecting a Cerynei to come prancing towards them when she was done speaking; after all, the forests weren't exactly safe despite it being light out.

"Nice to meet you Fleur." She grinned once more before tiltin her head at the question of her parents. "They're not too far away.. They're sleeping with my brother and sister. The roses woke me up though so I came out to play." She giggled some waggling her tail even more. Did this mare not know her herd was in this area? Surely she must be well watched by who ever was closest. Right? Shrugging inwardly, she shook her own little mane around and bent her head down to itch at her leg before looking at the mare before her. "You're very pretty.. Kind of like mommy, but she doesn't have wings..." She looked at the wings with facination.

"The roses woke you up? And... You have a brother and sister?" Fleurite giggled before it faded into a smile as she spoke, nostalgia washing over her, "I have a brother and sister too.... Although we now leave apart, we're still close and happy to see each other. Must be nice to snuggle up to them when its so cold though!" She giggled again, and then paused, blusing a little at the filly's compliment. Going down to her eye level again, Fleurite gave the filly a gentle nuzzle on the top of her head, "You're a beautiful foal too, so I'm sure your mother must be very pretty! You do... Look like someone I know from long ago though. She was a beautiful mare too, with roses in her mane, and very kind too." It was coming back now... Although the mare's name still escaped her.

Wiggling her wings and spreading them out for the filly to see them better, the Fluttercorn continued, "Thank you... I can't fly though, because my wings are too small to support my weight. However, I still like them."

"That sound like my momma.. Her name's... Um...." She frowned some as she thought. WHat had her daddy called her? "Sho! her name's sho." SHe grinned happily and gave a small giggle at being nuzzled. "Thank you for the compliment Fleur." Waggling her tail once more she beamed. "My daddy's a 'Handsome stag' as momma says." She couldn't help but to giggle.

"Sho... Sho... SHO?!" Fleurite's eyes widened at the realization as she remembered that as the name of the mane from her foalhood; why didn't she notice it before? Briallan mentioned roses, after all, and the rose-colored sock on her leg! Feeling rather silly, she giggled, "Oh dear... That mare I met when I was your age really was your mother! Seems like such a long time ago... Wow... She has her own family now..." The mare stared at the filly in awe - the child of someone she knows!

"You are very welcome," She nodded before letting out a chuckle, realizing where her Cerynei traits came from now, "A handsome stag? He must be, to win Sho's heart!"

Briallan giggled one more. "You know my mother?" She beamed it was so nice to meet some one who knew her mother. "Daddy's name's Oracle..." She giggled once more.. Momma said my name is like a combination of their name's oragins.. Briallan means primrose.. and Oralee means light." Her tail waggled once more. "Momma calls us her.. Happy accidents" She gigled some. She figured even if they were accidents that her parents certianlyy didn't seem to be put off by it infact they both seemed rather overjoyed with them.

"Yes, I know your mother, although I haven't seen her for a long, long time!" Fleurite giggled, rather delighted that she could meet the offspring of someone she had considered one of the first Soquilis she had ever met outside of her herd. While it was a long time ago, she had always tried to remember everyone she ever met. Her wings were brought back to rest beside her body again as she smiled, "Really? That's beautiful... What a wonderful and meaningful name! My name means 'flower'; my mother gave it to me."

Fleurite then chuckled, raising an eyebrow, "Really now? We do have a lot in common then... My siblings and I were accidents too. However, my father and mother decided not to stay together, although they remained friends. We get plenty of love from our herd though, so it didn't bother me that I didn't have a father as I grew up." She then paused, her expression softened, "Sho and Oracle... Your siblings and you must be like their little miracles."

"I like to think so." SHe smiled wide. "Momma seems to really like our father." She giggled remembering her siblings. "Florian's more of the scheamer of us though.. And Winter, he's shy.. He's got a blue coat color." She giggled some. Her stomach gave a rather loud rumble and she gave a sheepish little look. "I guess my belly's awake now to..."

"Aww," She smiled with the filly, imagining Sho's little family' if they ever get the chance to meet again, she would have to ask! She nodded to show that she was listening to her talk about her siblings, chuckling when she heard her stomach rumble. She had already taken her breakfast, but maybe she could share what she had found earlier. She nudged the filly before gesturing for her to follow, "Well, I found a winter berry bush on my way here, if you'll like some? They're a little sour but at least they're juicy!"

"Winter berries?" She giggled some. "Are they blue like winter?" She hopped about some mocking a deer she'd seen in from a distance. "How far away?" She looked up at the other mare still waggling her tail. She semed to be fond of waggling that little tail of hers. And why shouldn't she? Her tail was the only one out of her siblings that looked like their father's did. Her little cloven hoves matched her features leaving little deer tracks behind as she hopped about.

"Nope! Not at all!" She laughed, shaking her head before giving the filly a wink, "They're only called winter berries because the berries remain on the bush throughout winter! In fact, they're shiny and black... Oh, try not to take the ones on the branches. Go for the ones that had fallen off because those are ripe..." She then smiled, turning to walk back the way she came from before turning around a few steps later to gesture for the filly to follow, "Come on, I'll show you!"

She retraced her steps, the hoofprints she had left in the snow earlier helping as she made sure the filly was not far behind; it was such a joy to be around foals! Ducking under a low branch, Fleurite came to a stop at the base of a tall tree, its bare branches heavy with snow collected during the last snow fall. Turning her attention to a bush near the tree, she nudged it with her hoofs, causing the snow to fall off and the small, black berries to show. She smiled, delighted that they where still there, "Come Briallan! These are winter berries! Well, one type of winter berry."

She'd been following the other mare wondering what berries could be black." OH, I see...." She trotted up to the bush and looked at the ground around it. "Where are the berries on the ground?" She moved the snow around with her nose some before finally finding a few. "Oh.. here they are.." Picking up a few beries up, she nibbled on them some. "They do taste sour.." She giggled and munched on a few more, licking her lips after she was through.

"They are, aren't they?" She giggled, nosing around the frost-covered ground to uncover more berries for the filly. Her face then lit up as she thought of something, her voice filled with excitement as she smiled, "Hey, why don't we bring some back for your family? I mean, they need breakfast, right? What better breakfast than some juicy berries? We could look around - I'm sure the two-leggers often leave woven baskets for Soquili to put their newborn foals in, but I'm sure they won't mind us borrowing a small basket to fill with berries for your family!"

"That sounds great! Then you can meet the rest of them!" Tail waggles as she giggles her face now smeared with berry juice. "Where could we find a basket?" She looked around her eyes scanning the area carefully. "Hmmm...." she soon tottered off from the berry bush and miandered over to a bush, looking though it with only her little bottom and hind legs now visable as she looked for any baskets on the other side. She'd gound one that loked like maybe it had already been used, a smaller basket than the one she and her siblings had used and it was even missing it's top. "I found one!" she giggled, her little rump wiggling with excitement as she attempted to pull the basket back through the bush with her."It's stuck!"

"Actually, I might have to go back soon," She looked a little upset as she offered the filly a small smile; winter's light is often shortlived, after all, and she still had things to do before it gets dark. She quickly perked up again, however, and gave the filly a nuzzle, "I'll visit again though, promise! And then I can meet Sho again, and this 'handsome stag' that is your father!" She giggled at the thought, wondering what sort of a stallion Sho's mate is - maybe a majestic one? Or maybe as kind as herself? Its quite exciting! She then thought of her own lover - well, hopefully soon to be mates - and blushed; love is a nice feeling...

Fleurite quickly moved over to where the filly was, spotting the basket that she was talking about; from its size, it looked like a basket made for an usdia... Well, it'll do great! She grabbed its rim in her teeth and helped to pull, pulling energy into it. There was a sharp crack sound as whatever was holding onto the basket broke, and the force sent the Fluttercorn flying backwards in surprise as she let go of the basket. After a second's silence, she broke down into giggles, "Well, we got our basket!"

She wiggled and backed up as Fleur helped her out with the basket. "I see.. Well hopefully you can catch us when we're all together." She frowned a bit. It had been nice meeting the older mare who happened to actually know her mother. Picking up the basket with her teeth, she pranced triumphantly to the berries and began carefully pushing the berried with her nose into the basket. "I hope I don't squish any.." Her tongue lawled out to the side as she concentrated on what she was doing.

"Well, just gather a few will do!" She nodded with a grin, before chuckling, "Wouldn't want it to get too heavy for you to move!" She then moved in to help the filly, shoving some berries (and small amounts of snow) into the basket, hoping that Sho and her family would like them... Would she even remember or recognize her? When they met months ago, she was just a small filly, after all! Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Briallan and couldn't help but smile when she saw how hard the filly was working, "Just be gentle and it'll be fine."

Nodding, she tried to be more gentle with the berried though a few spattered her nose with it's juice. Still, she pushed a few more berried into the basket along with some more snow. Stepping back, she looked at the amount of berries in the basket and smiled. "I think that should possibly do it..." She giggled and took up one of the loops in her mouth. "Ee schhould obably et em ackkk oww..." (We should probably get them back now) she managed around the loop, eyeing a near by pine coan on the ground.

"Looks good to me!" Fleurite nodded as she peered at the contents of the basket; the fact that they had a lot of snow in it amused her somewhat. When she realized what the filly was looking at, she couldn't help but chuckle, walking to stand on the other side of the basket, where the other loop was. She gave an encouraging smile, gesturing towards the pinecone with a brief nod of her head, "Why don't you take that back with you too, Briallan? Just toss it into the basket."

Setting letting go of the loop once more, she trotted over to the pine cone and picked it up in her mouth. Nodding, she trotted back to the basket, she dropped the pine cone ontop of a more snow covered area of the basket. "It's for Flo.. I lost the one she gave me the other day so this one's for her." She grinned wide and picked up the basket loop once more. Walking backwards, she drug thebasket along the snowy ground. She couldn't help but to giggle as she thought of how funny this must look, a foal dragging along a basket of goodies.

"I see! I'm sure she'll be delighted!" She smiled before taking a step back so that she was now behind the basket. As it started to move, she raised an eyebrow as the filly tried to drag the basket by herself, giggling before pushing the basket from the back with her nose, "Here, let me help..." She made sure they were going the right way, but it seemed to her like the filly knew where they were going. When they were finally back at the clearing where they first met, Fleurite straightened up again, wiggling her nose before blowing hard through it. It was a little numb, but it was worth it! She smiled at the filly, "Well... Is your family really close, or do you need me to help you bring it closer to them?"

She dropped the loop from her mouth again."Well... You see those bushes?" She nodded her head to indicate the wall of brush behind her. Beyond those is where my parent's den is. After the bushes it's a bit of a walk but I can do it on my own once i'm through that brush." Grinning she walked around the basket and under Fleur's belly. "Promice you'll come back to see us?" She giggled as she poked her head out between the mare's front legs. She knew she'd said she promiced but she just wanted to be sure.

"That seems near," She agreed with a nod as she looked at the bushes before looking at the filly again, smiling fondly at her. When she popped out from under her, Fleurite's smile grew as she nuzzled the foal on the top of her head, messing up her mane. With a giggle, she nodded again, "I promise! I'll miss you, Briallan - tell Sho I'll be coming around when I can! I don't want to surprise her too much, after all!"

Giggling she nodded and wiggled out from under her. "I'll be sure to tell momma you'll be comming by at some point." She agreed. though she knew she'd get a rather large lecture for leaving the savety of the little area alone and without a parrent to accompany her. She moved back behind the basket and picked it's loop up in her mouth before wiggling her little tail and backing into the bushes.

"See you!" She stayed till the filly was no longer visible before turning around, taking one last look behind her before walking away, smiling happily as she too, made her way home. She would have to come back to see Sho soon... And hopefully, little Briallan would have grown up a fair bit as well! The thought made her smile grow as she quickened her pace, determined to get home before dark.
