After braving snow day after day to get to work, Anthony Darrow was paying the price. He had to call in sick to work, which completely defeated all of his brilliant efforts to continually show up earlier in the week.

Not that it would make a difference. The fates were conspiring against him, really. The building was buried in snow, as it were, or at least that was how the landlord described it. Tony had a feeling that they were just too lazy to shovel enough to get them free, so now they were being held hostage.

Either way, Tony was stuck in the apartment. Nate had, without sarcasm, climbed out of the window and left for the day, not wanting to play nurse to his father, so Tony had to tend to himself. He loaded up on dayquil and camped on the sofa, mostly sleeping, sometimes watching television. It was almost nice, for a couple hours at least, being lazy.

He felt sore and he had a head ache, and opted to move to the window for some air.

Opening it, he peered outside. His view was terrible if he stared across, looking into the bedroom of an old woman who still dressed like she was sixteen, and didn't get much better if he looked down. street thugs and shady characters he didn't want to make eye contact with lurked down there. Usually, at least.

So looking up at the cloudy sky was his only option. But he didn't mind, as he loved the winter weather.

He didn't blame it for making him sick.

Snowflakes were supposed to be dainty. Or rather, she would have expected that people would have thought they were supposed to be dainty if people thought about stuff like that. Actually, she would have thought about that if she'd had enough of a head on her shoulders and knew enough about the world to have such a variety of thought. She was, however, too busy standing up in too high of a place and pondering her best as to how she was supposed to get down from there.

Oh, she could just imagine it now, all of the other snowflakes were making such beautiful entrances.... she'd crash-landed on a roof without any grace to her name! It was appalling, really. Had she known she had the option of something called 'stairs', the young lady (snowflake..thing...) probably wouldn't have decided to attemptively -climb- down the front of whatever building it was she was on... and by 'climb', that meant 'jump'.

She knew, at the very least, she needed an extra handful of wind.. and she could do wind! Lifting one palm to her lips she blew, frost flaking off of the surface of her hand. The snowy ballerina waited until she felt the frost was suitable for travel before stepping in to i-

WAhhhhHHhh!

It was with that the young lady was pretty much flung across the way, smack-dab into a window. A window that was occupied... and probably managing to scare her audience. Her sort-of-audience. Either way, the young ballerina stared with sort of deer-in-headlight eyes at Tony through the window she'd just crashed into....

before sliding down it and falling to wherever it was to land next.

Ouch!

Tony was daydreaming, watching little flakes of snow falling daintily down from the sky. They were so gentle and calm, it was hard to think that they caused so many problems for people as of late. Though, he supposed anything in a large group could cause a problem. As he was fawning over how delicate the little wisps of snow were, something caught him completely by surprise.

"Aiii!!" He yelped out, an octave or two higher than should be acceptable for a man his age. He blinked, staring at the tiny... fairy? thing that had just crashed into his window, with much the same expression she was giving him.

It might have been funny, if Tony had been able to take a step back to appreciate the moment.

"Oh!" He saw it fall off the window and hurried to open it the rest of the way and poke his head out, looked down to try and see her. Had he really seen a little bluish fairy? This wasn't Pinocchio. He was already a real boy. Maybe he had taken too much dayquil for his own good. But he looked for it anyway, worried simply because if it had been real, it might be hurt now.

And in Destiny City, it was just easier to go along with things than try to explain them or, worse, deny them. Things were just... weird.

"Oomph!"

With a small crash into the snow, the snowdancer sitting up in it a little disoriented before she looked up above her, seeming to puzzle at the fact that someone was looking down at her. Goodness! She had an audience!....Still. Still had an audience. She'd been seen.

Was she supposed to panic about that? The snowdancer seemed to puzzle for a moment, before the thought completely passed her by. Instead, she just got up with a light flourish and offered a bow for her..failure of a performance. A bow before she fell over again, obviously disoriented from her lovely adventure. Not that it had been a bad adventure or anything.

Just a striking one.

Literally.

"Well..that's a problem..." she seemed to puzzle as to what her next course of action should have been. Sitting in the snow wasn't a bad one. Snow seemed to like piling. Though the weather wasn't really conducive to her staying unburied. Perhaps it would have been good to find somewhere to hide and remain UNburied...
....

If she could get herself up without wobbling all over.

Tony watched as the little snow fairy, as he deemed it, bowed at him prettily. He smiled, immediately enchanted and charmed, though he was still worried that it had been hurt. She fell over! He was sticking out of the window, debating trying to climb out and get onto the fire escape.

With his leg as it was, climbing wasn't exactly his forte. It never had been, even before he'd hurt himself. So it was slow going and rather awkward. He planted his palms on the window ledge, pushing his upper body out first and then trying to get his leg up. There was no room and he was now off balance, so he teetered forward like a see-saw that suddenly lacked a person on one side. He hit the fire escape shoulder first with an 'oomph', his backside stuck inside the window. He was bent at the waist, butt in the air, legs kicking as he scrambled to get the rest of him outside.

Less than gracefully, he flopped onto the fire escape, which creaked warningly, and Tony got his knees and hands under him. He did not want to stand up, but now he was much closer to the little snow fairy, and he tried to examine her in wonder.

"What... what are you?" he asked, not sure if she could speak, not having heard her in all the ruckus of his falling from the window. "Are you okay?" He moved his hand forward carefully, gently scooping her, and the snow she was on, up as he sat back on his butt on the fire escape.

He imagined if anyone saw him it might look a bit odd, but there was no one around who might care at the moment.

O-oh..oh..my... that was a very-very bigman. At least from her size, she nearly panicked at the size of the being who was picking her up. It took quite a bit to not throw the small lady into a panic when she, and her lovely snow-pile, was picked up. Instead, she observed with a sort of frightened curiousity everything that was going into her lift from the... fy...re.....es-cap-ay? That's probably how she would have pronounced it.

Yes. A Fyre Escapay.

Not that she knew what anything was called yet. The snow 'fairy' looked up at Tony with wide-wondering eyes, before looking to one of his hands, reaching out to touch some part of it should could reach, before pulling her hand away, seeming surprised by just how warm he was. It was likely just as surprising for him to feel how cold she was. Then again, it was also possible the snow was numbing that sensation.

Once that curiosity was appeased, however, the woman looked up to the librarian/super hero/Iron Man/etc... with the same wide curious eyes, repeating his words out loud with a sort of testing nature.

"What... O..kay...?"

Her brows knitted together, a part of her frozen little brain trying to process his language... though it seemed after a few cycles, some slightly-frozen neurons connected for her, her little hands clapping daintily together.

"What.." she pointed at herself, seeming to pause to seek out a correct word to answer with properly. "Ah.... somewhere between a... ummm..." she pointed to the falling snow, "Snow...flake?" her little mouth twisted into a somewhat puzzled look, before she continued "And a..." she again made a face. "I am not sure what the word would be...."

This left her visibly disturbed as she thought about it, though she soon moved on to Tony's second question, again attempting to stand, and even nearly getting up to her feet..though the whole 'balance' thing seemed to escape her as she toppled over again, back onto her rump.

"Hmmmm... not sure if that would be...O..kay?" she answered, again making that puzzled little face.

Hmmm.

"Oh! You do talk!"

When Tony was surprised he sometimes forgot to keep his thoughts in his head. Words tumbled out of his mouth without him filtering them, which was not the best habit to have, but also not one he knew how to control. Obviously. It could be worse than it was now, however, so he didn't even notice it right away. He shook his head, gaping in wonder.

He was surprised by a sudden little spark of cold, offset against the dull numbness. Her little hand was freezing! But he imagined it was supposed to be that way.

"A snowflake? You're a snowflake... oh, no... something between a snowflake and...?" He was following her, at least, up until when she stopped trying to explain what she was to him. He frowned, filling in the blanks for himself, based on what he saw. A snowflake and a little lady. She looked like she was wearing a tutu, which only affirmed, in his mind, that she was a fairy.

He offered her his finger as a means of support, a bar against which she might lean if she needed help standing, while holding the rest of the snow in his other hand. She toppled to her bottom, though, and he frowned. He sincerely hoped she wasn't hurt.

"N-no, I mean... uhm... okay... uh. Are you hurt?"

He was crouched on the fire escape, huddled against the cold, but hardly noticing it. He was just completely focused on the little fairy, absolutely boggled by it, but fascinated. He didn't feel threatened, which was a first, but that was probably due to her tiny stature and gentle little voice.

There was a moment of befuddlement from the fairy-snowflake-god-only-knows-what woman when the first statement was blurted out, seeming to be considering if she was supposed to talk or not. Was she? Hmmm. Well, he didn't seem to be upset that she was doing it, so she had to assume that it was kosher for her to be doing so. That was the only thing that really kept her from turning into a full-blown mute.

Clearly, Tony was better at logicking out what the small-woman was better than she was. Then again, she was probably not too old for her stature and had very little to go on. She was cold, snow was about, and that was about all she had to go on. Things such as 'fairies' or any such comparison were beyond her. Which may have been why she'd struggled for a comparison to make.

Then again, the existence of fairies, or any actual image of one would likely spark an even more puzzled reaction.

"Hurt." she repeated, puzzling for a moment as she examined herself. Both hands were in one piece, her arms seemed to be in one piece... after a moment, the small lady shifted to straighten her tiny little legs out in front of her to look over them as well. Well... they were in tact too. Which meant that... she was... not hurt?

Her little brows furrowed together before she nodded, seeming to assess that this was the case.

"I am...not...?"

She certainly didn't sound too sure about that, however, as she reached out for that finger she'd been offered previously to try and stand again, legs shaking despite her best efforts. This only prompted a small frown on her part. Well, everything on the outside was looking okay...so the fact she couldn't stand was very much confusing her.

"....."

Sadly, she couldn't think of a good word for how she was feeling. It was probably somewhere around 'shaken' though. She had just crashed into a window, after all.

Tony watched the little fairy, finding that she moved with a certain grace even though she was wobbly and unable to stand very well. It was difficult for him to wrap his head around, or attempt to describe in any reasonable way. She was very pretty, as a snow flake or a ballerina (which he still wasn't thinking of) or a fairy should be.

He watched her as she seemed to take stock of herself. For a moment he was unsure if she understood him yet, but once she looked back up at him and nodded, he realized she had, at least, got the gist, and had been checking herself for injuries.

"That's good," he said with a relieved sigh.

But then she wobbled again and he looked very upset. She was hurt! Because she had run into his window, something wasn't working right. She should be able to stand, shouldn't she? He watched her, trying to decide what to do with her.

"Let me take care of you," he said at length, wanting to, at least, give her a comfortable little place to stay, so she could heal if she needed to. He assumed she needed to be out in the snow, as she looked like she was made from it, but he could at least give her shelter in case the snow picked up and she got buried, or something.

He didn't want her getting into further trouble, or falling off the fire escape, or something equally dreadful, because he had scared her and she had run into his window. Really, he had nothing to do with her being hurt but he still blamed himself.

He probably had a shoe box...

Again, a puzzled expression on the small lady's part at Tony's offer. Truly the woman was out-of-touch enough with how things worked to not question it. As long as she didn't find him watching her sleep at night from a tree outside her window.... then again, she probably would have been oblivious to that as well. Maybe it was bad enough for her to have gotten the jist of it, though.

However, it took her only a few mere moments for the entire request, nodding a bit once it had settled over her psyche. Her frozen-psyche. If a more science-minded individual had been this little lady's first meeting, she may have just found herself dissected for curiosity's sake. A morbid notion as to how her frozen innards may have mimicked those of the larger humans.

But that may have meant her ability to be 'taken care of' was applicable.

She did seem to be there enough to know that what the larger-being was suggesting was...a strange thing.

"How...?" she asked, not privvy to the notions of a shoebox home. In fact, she wasn't even aware of that option being out on the table! Then again, this was followed up by another puzzled look from the small lady as she peered around at where the pair was seated, following up with an even more puzzled, "And where?"

Would she be staying out on the fire escape? The blue-fairy-lady of the fire-escape.

It was like a bad children's story.

Tony looked perplexed.

"Oh! I could give you a box. Uhm. If that's not completely insulting. I'm sorry. I just thought that you might be okay in a little shoe box, or... I could make it nice? And you could stay here on the fire escape... or in the freezer? I don't know... ah... how much air is in there. But you would melt in the warm, wouldn't you? You are a... uhm... Snowflake Fairy."

It did occur to him then how odd saying that out loud was, and how it made his ears twitch just hearing it. Even he thought he was crazy, and he was living the moment.

He shook his head.

"Will you wait here for a bit? I'll show you what I mean, and you can decide if you want to or not. I don't mean to impose. I just don't want you to... flitter off, and then get hurt because you're still reeling from hitting my window..."
