Free days were something Chiku loved. It gave her a chance to run around and play and visit whatever other nation they were camped near. Because as much as she loved the Air Nomads, she LOVED making friends from everywhere. LovedlovedLOVED. And, of course, it helped her out as a Teacher! Because learning about other nations and how they did things helped her teach the littles what was good and bad when they were visiting others!

Today found the more cheetah-like leotah just inside the borders of the Fire Nation. She was always intrigued by them, with the passion they put into things and the sheer stubbornness they had to make up for the sin of leading a war against the other nations. For Chiku...that just made them all sorts of awesome. For the little blue hare following her, it just meant a headache because Chiku was all over, sniffing at that, observing the lizard over there, and generally being more hyper than usual.

Mzaaliwaale'mwale stretched as she strode out of her den, glancing around to and fro. She greeted a few leopards and other felines she passed on her way to the edge of the Fire Nation. It had become something of a ritual for Mwale, to venture to the edge and beyond that to the free area between her nation and the others. She enjoyed meeting others within the pride, even those outside of her nation. The petty squabbles the Fire Nation had had in the past, the war they inflicted, was a healing wound. She felt little worry in the face of others for being a Sage within the Fire nation, and rather liked seeing the other nations in person when she had the opportunity.

She didn't plan, however, on travelling that far today. No; she would hunt something small and then return to the Fire Nation proper, perhaps to meet with a few friends during the warm weather. She hadn't made many, yet, but assumed that would change in time.

As she strode towards the border between the Fire Nation and the free land separating it from another, her eyes picked up on a light figure in the distance. Curiosity peaked, Mwale strode forward, her paws leaving light imprints on the dirt as she trotted towards the feline. She didn't think they were Fire Nation. Perhaps one of the Water Tribe? Hmmm... When she was close enough, Mwale called out: "Hello!" Short and sweet, she waited to be acknowledged, stopping her trot at a safe enough distance.

Just in case.

Chiku's ears went up, followed by her head. She KNEW she distinctly heard a 'Hello!'. Just KNEW it! Themba sighed beside her, knowing what this meant just as Chiku stood up fully and started towards the source of the 'hello'...A lioness by the looks of it! The leotah smiled brightly, and bowed a bit when she was closer to the other.

"Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Chiku." Her speech was quick and excited, but still understandable. Her little blue hare-friend managed to catch up to her, catching his breath. "And this is Themba. Mom has him keep an eye on me for some reason."

Smiling as the leotah ventured forth, Mwale bowed her head respectfully in return before straightening up. "It's nice to meet you, Chiku! I am Mzaaliwaale'mwale. But you can call me Mwale." She added with a sheepish smile; very few actually used her full name. She could only recount a handful of times her own aunt used her full title, and most of those times she was in trouble for something or other. Ah, the ventures of youth. She looked down at the hare beside Chiku, amused, and nodded. "It never hurts to have a pair of watchful eyes. It's nice to meet you, Themba."

Curiously, her ears perked up. "You don't come from the Fire Nation; I'd have met you before, I think. Which of the clans do you belong to?" She asked, sitting down and letting her tail curl around her back paw. It was an excited event, to meet someone from one of the other clans. She hadn't yet met many, save the Avatar. Her aunt had told her stories of the four nations, but most of the details were more on how they related to the Fire Nation, not so much stories about the other clans themselves.

"A pleasure, Mwale!" Chiku seemed to be a constant ball of cheer. And Themba actually perked up at being included in Mwale's greeting. He bowed his head to Mwale in greeting.

"It is nice to meet you as well, ma'am." Chiku took a step closer, than stopped.

"Themba and I are from the Air Nomads. But I like meeting creatures from the other clans as well as my own. More fun that way, AND it becomes easier for me to be a proper Teacher!" She liked having a wide range of knowledge to share with the younger generation.

Mwale nodded, smiling. "It is a pleasure. I've yet to meet many from other clans; I've only recently returned home." She said by way of explanation, grinning a little. "You're young for a teacher." She said idly, sitting down and tilting her head curiously. "But youth is just as useful as age for teaching, I suppose." She added after a brief pause, not wanting to insult the air Nomad.

"What brings you to this part of the pride?" She asked. "Is your clan nearby?"

Chiku smiled sheepishly. "Well...I'm afraid 'Teacher' is the only thing I really CAN do." She sighed. "I can't stay still or quiet enough to hunt or scout, and I'm not exactly fit for the council and am not really religious enough to be a sage or priestess, and I can't heal..." She giggled nervously. "So...all my talking has to be useful somehow, right?" Themba put a small paw on one of Chiku's, smiling at her. She was doing better, being able to admit all that.

"The Air Nomads are camped not far from here for a few days. Chiku's just always happy to meet others." He nodded in the direction they'd come from.
