Nyx groomed herself nervously in her small bedroom. It was odd to be home again for the holidays as she had been spending her days and nights in the University, studying dilligently. She looked around the small room, given to her when the rest of her litter had moved away so many years ago. It was small but it smelled familiar and warm. The female groomed her snowy white fur carefully, more out of nervousness than anything. She had some very important news to tell Jiji and eventually her family. Her pink hair fell around her shoulders as she stood up, turning sideways in the mirror and frowning slightly, smoothing down her more loosly fitting dress. She sighed and almost giggled out of nervousness. He was going to figure out anyway, she was usually so thin that she never put on any weight. Jiji would sometimes pressure her to eat more to try and help her fragile figure but the body wouldn't hold any fat at all. "He'll be able to tell you're pregnant straight away silly..." she muttered to herself and her heart soared when she said it outloud. She was pregnant. Yet another obstacle in her life that she had proved everyone wrong in.

When Nyx was a child she had been told that she wouldn't live through to teenage hood. Then when she was older still she was told that she would never be strong enough. Finally when she did reach her teenage years she had been told that should would never be able to have children, that not only was she sterile, but her body wouldn't be able to handle carrying kittens and as such she would miscarry if she were to fall pregnant. The female had been busy but she had also been avoiding Jiji slightly. She had discovered some time ago she was actually pregnant but simply didn't want to tell him, terrified that her body would simply regect it and miscarry them. However her body seemed to be doing the opposite. The females stomach had been growing at an alarming rate, so much so that Jiji should be able to tell as soon as he embraced her. She had yet to tell her parents either, knowing that her father would possibly kill Jiji if he found out.

She took a deep breath, turning sideways once again to see just how much she could hide and couldn't help but smile a small bit. She was terrified and simply had never thought of being a mother before, especially so young. This would set her entire career back but also, they were hers and Jijis. They were the combination of the love between them so she couldn't already help but grow attached to the idea of having a family between them. She shook her head, trying to clear her mind and strode out of the house to where she would meet Jiji, ready to tell him the news.

Nyx couldn't help but giggle and squeal girlily as the love of her life scooped her up and hugged her. She certainly didn't expect him to be so close. Strangely enough a lot of her anxiety faded away being in his arms. Being away from him for a length of time had made her stressed and even more nervous but having him near, it made her strong. She smiled back broadly, kissing him back when he kissed her and even when he didn't. She couldn't help it, he simply turned her to mush. But she was still nervous, not forgetting the news she had to tell him. They had never discussed having a family, as they simply assumed that the doctors were right, that they could never have a family. Nyx was unsure if Jji even wanted a family. What if he hated kittens? She was pretty sure he liked them but they never discussed it. Her pink eyes watched him slightly nervously as he looked at her, hoping that maybe he might pick up on some sign before she had to tell him, to ease the surprise a little bit.

The female smiled, trying to hide any nervousness and purred as Jiji placed his forhead on her own. She had missed him so much, more than he could probably comprehend, especially through the emotional rollercoaster she had gone through. After all, she had beaten the odds once again. She purred contently. "A present for me? Really?" she looked at him, tilting her head. Oh gosh...christmas! She had forgotten. "Oh no I forgot about getting a present for you...well...I suppose I do have something..." she muttered quietly, blushing and looking down, nervously.

Nyx looked at him and her nerves came back to her in troves. What if he didn't like kittens at all? What if he had never wanted kittens at all? Nyx knew very well how to take care of kittens, since her mothers second litter but it worried her even more. She looked around, trying to find somewhere to sit down, hoping that would maybe soften the blow. She found a mound of stuff just behind them and slowly pulled him over, her heart fluttering as she did so. It was now or never and she simply couldn't hide if from him. She wanted him to know. "I suppose I can go first then but it's a rather different sort of gift..." she said quietly. She sat down, still holding into his hands. "...it may not be a gift you'll like..." she added, looking down again, at their hands.

How best to start it? How to tell him that the impossible had become possible? She took a deep breath and gave him a small smile. "Well...Jiji...remember when I went to the doctors...and they told me that I was sterile and that I would never have kittens..." she took another break and couldn't help but smile a bite more. "Well...I guess they were wrong again...I'm pregnant. Jiji, we're going to be parents." the female said softly, looking straight at Jiji, trying to gauge his reaction.

Nyx watched him, her pink eyes picking up his every movement and reaction. She was sure this wouldn't be the best news in the world to hear, she was hardly thrilled with it when she had found out herself. Her world had changed so much when she had heard those words, words she believed that she would never hear.

She looked down at their hands as he spoke. "Honestly...I really don't know. The doctors don't know. I was feeling sick for quite some time and because when I usually get sick it escalates so much I went straight to the doctor. He told me that he didn't know why my body reacted as it did but apparently...I wasn't sterile after all. This was a little bit ago because he then told me that there was almost 100% of a chance that I would miscarry and to come back in a few weeks if I hadn't...and I didn't tell you then because i assumed that I would miscarry them...but then weeks passed and I didn't so now...I'm not sure but I believe that these kittens want to stay right where they are...I suppose..." she said and as he released her hands to run his fingers though his hair she slowly placed a hand on her stomach. Well now he knew atleast.

Nyx fell silents finally, her mind still moving at a mile a minute. What was he thinking? She had never doubted his love for her before. She had been so sick in the past and he had to help her recover but this was different, she supposed. But the female kept quiet and didn't try to push any conversation. He must be shocked, she could still hardly believe what she was saying, if it wasn't for the already slightly prominant bump which continued to grow, she wouldn't have believed it either. But then again, she wasn't suppose to be alive anymore according to doctors. She had proven them wrong before and she had done it again, but this time it wasn't the overwhelming joy of discovering that she had lived twice as long as they said she ever would. She was a small bit happy, but was afraid to be. After all what if this was horrible for the love of her life? What if he decided that this way the final straw, that it was to much to handle and he left her?

She snapped out of her slight daze and looked at him, her pink eyes watching him carefully before nodding. "I had almost forgotten that you had something to give me." she said with a little laugh. She then nodded, closing her eyes when he asked.

Nyx kept her eyes closed, her heart beating quickly as she did so. She had simply no idea what was going on but after the news she had just told him her mind couldn't help running wild, starting to worry if he was just going to cut and run right here, that the was no longer any present. She had to calm herself, reminding herself that this was Jiji and that he was the cat that she could trust, that he was the love of her life.But all the same, she had just told him some big news and she honestly wouldn't be surpriced if he wanted to cut and run. Kittens were a huge responsiblity and neither of them were probably ready for it, none the less even thought about it!

The females ears pricked up at the sound of his voice and she opened her pink eyes carefully,unsure of what she would see infront of her. And then she saw him, kneeling infront of her and holding a ring. She stared for a second, speechless. She just stared, raising a hand to her mouth, grinning broadly and tears welling up in her eyes. "Is this...?" she started, quickly loosing her words and sitting there speechless.

Nyx grinned from ear to ear, tears falling from her eyes. Never in her wildest dreams did she believe that the present he would give her was himself, marriage. She just simply couldn't believe this was happening to her. She watched him as he place the ring on her hand and nodded furiously, tears happily falling from her pink eyes. She tried to speak but words continued to fail her. She said there grinning at him stupidly for a second before jumping towards him, hugging him tightly. "Jiji...this is more than I could even ask for. Of course I'll marry you." she squeeled happily, her dreams coming true.

She broke away from him embace and giggled nervously, looking at the ring and then looking back at Jiji. "Oh Jiji, this ring is stunning...where did you get it?" she asked looking back up at him. She still couldn't believe that this was happening. After all the news that she told him she would instead spring something so wonderful on him. "I'm sorry my present wasn't quite as...you know." she sighed, smiling all the same.
