SIGN UPS END THURSDAY, 12/30/10
GAME ON

Winter. The world is falling to sleep, the nights are getting longer, and people are huddling together by the fireplace and enjoying the thoughts of the holidays.

But the cool white snowdrifts are stained with blood here in Sniperville. Killers never sleep, and as long as villains are rampant their victims won't be able to either. The Sniper, whoever he may be, has returned, and the Crazy Killer seems even more insane than ever.

To make things worse, there's been talk of a strange new figure. No one has seen him, yet, but they say that he's as elusive as moonlight and as cold as snow. They've taken to calling him The Scratch.

In this whirling wonderland of murder and betrayal, where even your friends are hidden in the snow, begins another Sniper game.

Roles

The SG'ers - The citizens of Sniperville. They work, they play, they plot and scheme against each other. The SG'er's live is constantly lived in fear of being attacked, and act as such. Their job is to vote on who gets jailed.

The Sniper - This calm and focused individual is the main opponent of this game. Calculating and cruel, he eliminates citizens with casual efficiency. This time around, he's been bothered by an unusual individual who claims to know his every move.

The Crazed Killer - Totally insane, this character murders often in twisted and imaginative ways, simply for the pleasure of killing. Sanity is his enemy as much as the other citizens.

The News Reporter - Dedicated to the truth, these secret agents are constantly investigating the identities of both killers and finding clues. Their job is to bring the truth to the people while also avoiding the attention of the killers.

The G-Team - Agents of justice, these characters are entitled to protecting the citizens of Sniperville with their lives.

The Scratch - No one's sure about this enigmatic figure. He appears to act entirely on his own whims, with no direction whatsoever. This much is known of him - he knows who is going to die for each round, and he can contact the Sniper. The Scratch cannot die; the role moves as its owners are killed and jailed.

Game Basics

All GM interactions are performed by the people in the role sending PMs to me.

1. The Killers have to kill one person each round.
2. Along with their kill each Killer has to send a clue to me about their identities, including an explanation of how it points to them.
3. News Reporters get a clue for one of the roles each round. They ask for which role they want.
4. G Team are allowed to save one citizen a round.
5. Everyone votes each round. If they don't vote for three rounds in a row, a player is marked as inactive and removed from the game. The same if they miss five rounds total, unless they PM me about it earlier.
6. Voting for each day ends at midnight EST, and the next round will be up by 2AM the next day.

The Scratch

The Scratch is a rather unusual case. The Scratch doesn't have to do anything for each round. However, they get a few special abilities.

1. I PM them who the Sniper & CK are going to kill each round.
2. If they want, they can PM me a message for the Sniper, which the Sniper will receive. The Sniper can change their kill choice based on the message. The Scratch won't be informed if the Sniper's target changes.

The Scratch is a constant role. If the player playing the Scratch is killed someone else is given the role; only the old Scratch and new Scratch are aware of the role change, and the Scratch's identity is kept secret.

Day 0 - And so it Begins...

He prepared his rifle, shouldering the familiar weight. It had been far too long since his last rampage through his favorite city. These people had grown soft. Even the weather had grown soft; the snowflakes were gentle and caressing against his skin. These people needed to learn fear, they needed to remember what it meant to have bloodstains on your doorstep. He smiled and cocked his rifle, moving a bullet into the chamber and aiming for...

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

The Sniper whirled as a figure slowly faded into his view from the snow. "Who are you?" They said, startled. Dammit. He hadn't even started his spree before he had been caught.

"I'm not here to report you, you silly fool. Just watch."

Suddenly there was a loud noise behind him. Very loud. Like a bomb... Why did his presence always coincide? It was rather irritating, even if sometimes they worked together. "So there's a new Killer as well?" he murmured. He wondered why they had both chosen the same target. What had made beReaved__staRlight so special?

Suddenly he remembered the mysterious stranger who had told him to wait. He turned - to find nothing at his back. The snow swirled.

"You may see me around," a voice said from all around him. "Then again, you might not... But I'll always know where you are. And what you'll do." The Sniper whirled around, looking for any figure, but the soft snow was slowly becoming more voluminous, making it harder to see.

"What should I call you?" he shouted into the snow, shielding his face.

"What do you call it, when the cue ball falls into a pocket?" the mysterious figure said. "What kind of tear do fingernails make? What happens to records when you ruin them?" A thousand more questions swirled through his mind, seemingly all at once. All with the same answer. With the name of the figure who had tormented him.

A Scratch.

================================================================

- beReaved__staRlight was blown up!!
- The Sniper has discovered a new character! Is he an ally or an enemy? Will we ever find out?

Day One - Bloody Notes

There had been barely any sign of the strange figure since their first meeting, but he hadn't been found out. As such, the Sniper moved on to his next target, m e a m e a a. He adjusted his sights, took aim, and took a nice clean shot. Everything went off without a hitch.

mea hadn't seen the bullet coming, but she had figured out enough to know someone was targeting her. She hadn't been surprised, of course; the News Reporter is always a prime target. But to be figured out so quickly? It was incredible... She clutched the paper to his chest with the clue she'd figured out, knowing that it'd be stained with blood before long, and that unless it got out everything would be over... Maybe... Maybe... M...

==============================================

Bombs were boring. Much too boring. They made nice colors and were very loud and all, but... no. They weren't good at all.

Not that this was much better, he thought absentmindedly, as he continued to play in Equinoxious' innards. He spooled the intestines on the fork and then shook them off as they fell to the ground with a splat. It was certainly much better feeling, but it was way too messy. He'd have to completely burn his current wardrobe if he didn't want to get caught. "But I liked this jacket," he pouted as he walked off into the dark.

==============================================

The citizens of Sniperville were shocked and scared. This whole thing happened all too fast. First another bomb, and now two more kills in the night!! Whispers passed through the crowd like wildfire. Someone must be behind this. Someone had to pay. Someone was in trouble.

Shadow_Articuno shouted in protest, but the accused always do. This was his mob, he had helped create it; where had it all gone wrong?? "I'm innocent!!" he shouted as they dragged him away to the police.

One of the mob broke off and walked away, letting things roll where they may. This town was definitely worth coming to, as trifling as it seemed... This was going to be so much fun to watch.

================================

m e a m e a a, the News Reporter, was sniped!!
Equinoxious was brutally murdered!!
Shadow_Articuno was jailed!!

Day Two - Eye for an Eye...

It was all so easy... She had decided to go with a smaller gun this time; heavensdark was stupid enough to sit in the same open air courtyard every night to watch the moon. Stupid girl, didn't she know that killers were afoot? She chuckled and cocked the pistol. It had been modified to have a longer barrel for better range, which suited the Sniper just fine. One quick shot to the head, and heavens was gone forever. Blood trickled from her forehead slowly, and the Sniper walked over to inspect the kill.

As it turned out, that ended up being a bit of a mistake. It hadn't seemed to be at first, of course. A nice clean shot to the head, and a beautiful murder scene for the police to find in the morning. Nothing nearly as messy as that other one, the madman...

The knife slid cleanly through her gut, avoiding the spine. Blood immediately spurted from the wound, and she started coughing. "What...?" she said hoarsely, trying to turn. Her entire body protested the turn, but she fored it, wrenching the knife from the other's hands. she doubled over and blood started spurting from her mouth, and running down the knife.

"Oh dear... you were someone special weren't you?" the assailant said, leaning in close. "Oh well... I guess it doesn't matter anymore. Before you die, you and I are going to get to know each other personally..." The CK chuckled, and yanked the knife out. "At least I hope so... don't die."

By the time the CK was gone, she was barely even recognizable... but she was indeed alive. As she died, Draconissa was left staring up at the sky as snow gently falls. The moon really was beautiful... she wondered why she hadn't noticed it before...

The Scratch was having a fit. Stupid madmen, ruining all his plans... he straightened. This could be dealt with. Just because the Sniper was gone doesn't mean that the game can't be fun... it just took a bit more work. He shrugged and walked off into the cool night.

================================================

Renegade Ghost dashed into an alley to catch his breath. They were after him, of course they were after him, why wouldn't they be after him? Because he was innocent, because there was nothing connecting him to the deaths of heavens and Draconissa, because he was just in the wrong place in the wrong time... He shook his head to calm himself down. "Not going to escape if I let myself lose it," he said, and sat for a second.

A second was too long, apparently, because as he sat some citizen snuck up on him and locked him in place. "They'll come back to find you later," he whispered, and laughed. Renegade turned around, but the figure was already disappearing.

================================

- heavensdark was Sniped!! But...
- Draconissa, the Sniper, was CK'd!!!
- Renegade Ghost was blamed for it!!

Day Three - Pasta Marinated in Blood

Bellecat was worried. Someone had warned her she was going to be a target tonight. "What exactly does that mean?" she wondered as she walked into the restaurant. It was nice to get out of the snow; she

But it was an empty restaurant; for some reason there wasn't the usual bustle there was in here. "I have a reservation?" She said, walking a little further in.

"A reservation?" someone said, shutting the door behind her. "I'm sorry, but for some reason the book is empty.

"I hope you don't mind," he said, leaning in closely, "But I think that you'll be some fun..." He grabbed her throat and smiled evilly.

========================================

Chaos ensued among the citizens. While the Sniper had been finished off, there hadn't been any new clues about the other killer, and they just seemed to be getting worse. No one seemed to know anything. An argument had broken out over who should be sent to jail.

"It has to be Ezzy!" some shouted. Others protested. "Thorn, it has to be her, the evidence points to her!" Others still shouted other names, and no one could agree.

Unfortunately for Anael de Ezra, those arguing for her arrest won out. She sat dejectedly in the cell and shook her head. "So much deceit..."

========================

- Bellecat was murdered!!
- Anael de Ezra was wrongly jailed!!

Day Four - The Badge.

Even more chilling than the wind, however, was the bloodstains. Even when the crime scenes had been cleaned up, everyone saw those bloody marks anyway, and it just made everyone nervous. Made him nervous, too. The moon shone down on the city, turning everything silver and blue.

Turning a corner, Alpha bumped into another figure. "Sorry," he muttered, keeping the coat held close to his chest and trying to get past.

The figure blocked his path and smiled. "No worry, I was just looking for you anyway," they said nicely, and reached into their pocket. There was the sharp glint of a long needle in his hand when it came out. Oh s**t. Oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t...

"We're going to have some fun tonight, Alpha..." they said, bringing the needle speeding towards his eyes. Oh s**t oh s**t oh s**t... He had no choice. So much for secrecy... throwing his coat off in a flash, Alpha threw his badge up and blocked the needle. He ran away quickly, his coat forgotten.

"So..." the Crazed Killer said, picking up the coat. "The G Team's shown its face." Angrily, he tore the coat to shreds and walked off. Dammit.

Meanwhile, nearby, another anonymous figure watched the exchange and smirked. "So, the G Team's shown its face," he said speculatively, chuckling as he disappeared into the snow.

================================================

Chaos reigned in Sniperville. The News Reporter was missing, and no one had any ideas on who to suspect. People were throwing out all sorts of wild theories, but no one could give any solid evidence, and they all knew it. Things weren't going to go well until they had some clues of some sort. "Where's the News Reporter?"

At the end of the day, they clapped Aine Chievious in irons, but they all knew that it wouldn't stop the killing, and the fact stung the voters harshly. Things weren't going well at all for them...

================================

- Alpha the White was attacked & rescued himself! The first G Team member is revealed!
- Aine Chievious was jailed!!

Day Five - The Badge...

The G Team had been revealed. Their protectors, the Sniperville citizen's last hope... One of them had been made public, and as such things were looking up. Some of the other citizens muttered angrily about him abusing his power to protect only himself, but others claimed that without it they wouldn't have two G Team members alive anymore. They were both right, and both wrong, of course, but that didn't matter.

Druki headed home with a rather cheerful demeanor, glad to know that the force protecting the citizens was safe, even if there wasn't a News Reporter. The News Reporters were the eyes of the community, but the G Team is the shield.

"Going somewhere?" An ominous figure asked, leaning close to her. He smiled and replied. "Just heading home. Sorry if I bothered you."

"You did anything but bother me," the CK replied, smiling and slowly moving his hand back from behind his back. "I was just looking for you..."

The last thing Druki saw was a pair of shears heading for his eyes. The last thing he felt was a sharp pain at the base of his spine. When they found him in the morning, he was nothing but a bloody mess.

"The G Team is more fallible than I thought..." the CK thought to himself, and chuckled as he walked away from the crime scene with the crowd.

========================================================

"Alpha is to blame! He needs to be punished!!" buzzkid24 shouted, waving fliers in the air from his soap box. "The G Team's credo is to protect the people, not themselves!" The cry rang out, and a crowd began forming around Buzz. There was a murmur of agreement, but it was swiftly overcome by more logical heads. Even if it had been selfish for Alpha to save himself, it had worked. They now had two G Team remaining, which left their defenses looking better. What's more, anyone who had an idea who was in danger of being killed could now warn Alpha. To jail him was counterproductive - weren't they supposed to be finding the CK?

Buzz wouldn't be silenced, although it didn't seem like he was serious about it either. After a short debate the police decided to take him away for causing a rather pointless ruckus.

================================

- Druki was murdered!!
- Buzzkid24 was sent to the stocks!!

Day Six - The Badge!!

Ichihollow 21 shook his head. The investigations were moving, but far too slowly. Things would work out eventually, though; at least, that's what he hoped.

He'd gotten a message that he was going to die, earlier today. It wasn't looking up for him all that much. Hopefully things would come together in time... but there was a distinct lack in trust. The CK had gotten another one, and they still weren't any closer to catching him or her. This was starting to get a little ridiculous.

Finally stopping in the park for a bit, he sat down to catch his breath. Ichi had been running all day, and it was finally beginning to wear on him. It probably wasn't safe to stop at night, but for god's sake he needed this. He pulled out a cigarette and started trying to light it.

"Excuse me," a figure said. "Got a light?" Ichihollow turned and nodded, providing the lighter for a few moments.

"Thanks," they said, smiling and passing it back to Ichihollow. Ichi shrugged and got up to keep moving. He was almost home, no time to stop for very long.

Suddenly he heard a scuffle break up behind him. He turned around to see the glint of a badge, and ran before the CK could catch up to him. The G Team had saved his life... this time.

================================================

This was ridiculous. No one was even able to settle on a scapegoat this time!! There wasn't anyone who people suspected strongly. Finally Thorn of the Sky threw her arms in the air. "If I go to jail, will we just settle this?" she said loudly, with only a few nods of consent. She shrugged and went to turn herself in.

They needed more clues. The News Reporter wasn't showing but for some reason people didn't seem to care to try other methods of sleuthing, or at the very least weren't sharing. This game was swiftly becoming pointless.

===============================

- ichihollow 21 was saved by the G Team!!
- Thorn of the Sky was jailed... barely.

Day Seven - Persistence.

Last night had been far too close a call for Ichihollow 21. He hadn't been able to leave the house all day for fear of being targeted again. When he stopped to think about it, he got a little shake. If the G Team hadn't been there, or if he had hesitated for even a moment... This game was incredibly dangerous, and being targeted had brought the harsh reality to light. He leaned back, putting a hand on his forehead; Maybe he was getting a fever...

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, interrupting his thoughts. For a second he considered not answering, but ultimately got up and headed towards the door. The knock came again, more insistent this time. "Just wait a bit," Ichi called out, fiddling with the lock. This thing got stuck so easily.

He hadn't quite finished up the lock when the door came crashing inward. He fell to the floor and shielded himself from the sudden biting cold. "I'm sorry," the figure on the other side said, their smile glinting coldly. "But I've been held up for some time already..."

The CK was tired of waiting. He would take this one out with his bare hands this time, if it meant he could finish this job up faster. "Now just hold still..." he leaned in close, his face still covered by a half-mask.

As he reached for his preferred weapon, there was a blur from the door, and he was knocked back. Damn, not again... The CK angrily shook his head and wiped the blood from his lip.

"I never did thank you for that smoke," the dark figure said, smiling in Ichi's direction before turning to face the CK.

But the CK had already turned tail, already. He knew as long as someone possessed that badge, the chances of him winning weren't very good. "Damn damn damn," he shouted at the moon as he dashed through the snow. Things weren't looking up for him.

===============================================================

There was a small argument in the square that day. Theories were slowly solidifying into suspicions, and as they did so several common theories were beginning to be at odds with each other. But at least they had managed to get through without the total confusion of last time. The arguments weren't very convincing but they were sound, and ultimately it devolved into a debate.

"Ginji's it," a few people said calmly. Rasani, who was under a certain amount of suspicion himself, led this argument. "His actions of late don't seem entirely trustworthy." A few people nodded their heads sagaciously.

Eventually the other side one. "KeJoRo isn't usually this quiet," they claimed, and pressed on. "Why is he acting so suspiciously now, of all times?" After some murmuring in the crowd, the general agreement led to KeJoRo being jailed, barely.

KeJoro just smiled and shrugged. His own theories hadn't held water this time, but he didn't mind. It had been fun, so far, and at least he had avoided bullets & a madman's gallows.

===============================

- ichihollow 21 was targeted and saved, again!!
- KeJoRo was jailed!!

Day Eight - Shocking.

Why did the CK keep targeting him? It made absolutely no sense. Ichihollow shook his head and kept walking. After yesterday's save he'd managed to muster up the courage to go out again, and it was nice to experience the fresh air for a while. But the sky was already turning dark, and he'd rather not be out during the witching hour again.

The killer scoffed, and turned, prepping his weapons. This time he was going to do it right... he'd always been a fan of the butterfly knife. He smiled wickedly and tested the edge, letting it break the skin, enjoying the way the blood leaked out of the small nick. It was time to get to work.

sticking to the shadows, he slowly creeped up on his target, and smiled cruelly. There was no time he'd fail, this time. No way. He brought his knife up, and let it strike down swiftly...

Into Haven_Gal's back. "So it wasn't Ichi, this time?" She said, coughing as blood began to fill her lungs. She shook her head. Of course it wouldn't be Ichi, he was obviously protected too well. Damn, though... it hadn't been long enough.

"See you soon," she said, smiling, as she felt her life sliding away. The CK smiled wickedly, and walked off into the darkness. Usually he tried to play some, but after two failures success was all he asked for.

========================================================================

"You can never trust a snake," the citizens whispered among themselves as Rasani pleaded his case. He was rather quiet in his speaking, trying to make others listen by the power of his words alone, but even the rumors conducted in whispers were swiftly overtaking his voice. This wasn't working, and he knew that today would end with him in jail, but he pleaded his case none the less.

Everything got quiet at the same time, as everyone dispersed. The only sound was the clink of chains as he got taken away.

================================

- Haven_Gal was murdered!! What a shock!
- Rasani was jailed!!

Day Nine - Sorry.

This was a time to go clever... The CK snickered to himself. It was so easy to outsmart these foolish people. He sharpened another of his various tools, getting ready for tonight's hunt. There was a certain person that he was just dying to get rid of, today; he needed to revel in the blood, bathe in its flavor... He shuddered just thinking about it.

Finally, it could be fun again. He didn't have to worry about the badge for the moment... His target loomed before him. "I'm glad you got my message," he said, continuing to flick his knife across the stone. The grating noise of sharpening filled the air.

Heart Shaped Toastie stood there, bewildered. She had indeed gotten a message, but it hadn't said who it was from. "You're..." she said, taking a step forward into the moonlight. "Oh no." She knew who it was. "oh no... this isn't good." She stepped back, heading for the way you came.

Shk. Shk. Shk. Sparks flew off the whetstone as the CK continued sharpening. It was the only sound in the air, and it just added to the oppressive feeling. "I wouldn't turn to leave if I were you," they said, smiling.

Suddenly the noise stopped. Just in time for the tone of an alarm. Witching hour was upon them. "Goodbye." The CK said after a moment. That was the last think Toastie remembered hearing.

================================================================

The role of the Scratch must have a curse on it, Tedie Behr decided as she headed off to jail. What had she done this time exactly, besides vote? Everyone was voting. It wasn't anything new.

Just because they had no clues, they were attacking anyone regardless of their placement.

================================

- Heart Shaped Toastie was killed!!
- Tedie Behr was jailed!!

Final Day - Alone.

It seemed like overnight, Sniperville had become a ghost town. Stores were closed, houses lay dark. It literally seemed like no one existed here anymore, and it chilled Ichihollow 21 to the bone. This wasn't right, he decided, pulling his coat even closer. It wasn't right at all.

The weather didn't help. What had been gentle snowfall for a fair amount of the past week was swiftly turning into sleet. The streets were slick, and everything was damp and dark. "Dammit..." he said, passing another bar with the windows boarded up. He could use some company, or at least a shelter from the weather... he traipsed on.

"Hey, what are you doing out here!!" Someone shouted. Ichi turned to the warm light from a doorway. He almost turned away - can't trust anyone in this town, not now - but the freezing slurry was something he had to get out of, now.

As he shuffled in, the door closed behind him. It was warm inside, if not particularly well lit. He grunted his thanks and sat down for a moment. It was nice to stay in the road. "Thanks," he said, shivering a little from the cold.

The CK smiled, glad that his enemy had come to him again. Good things come to those who wait, after all... He brought the knife swinging down, for the third and hopefully final time...

Into a badge. "Dammit!" he swore loudly, causing Ichihollow to turn and back away. The G Team smiled coarsely at both of them. "What is this, the third time we've done this dance?"

"Get out of here," he said to Ichihollow, blocking another strike of the CK. This was over, and he knew it. Ichi ran, back into the dark, and out of Sniperville. For the first time, he finally realized it. He was truly alone now. This was over.

================================================================

Kozmo 6 coughed a little. Being a G Team had worn him out, and this time he hadn't managed to come out unscathed. No matter; he would survive this, and would heal in time. It certainly wasn't going to stop him from fulfilling his duties...

"What's the rush, friend?" Alpha said, walking up from behind him. Kozmo paused and looked up. "You know exactly what the rush is," he said after a moment. "Don't you?"

Alpha gave him a suspicious look. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he said slowly, putting his arm around Kozmo's shoulder. "Something seems to be off though," he said. glancing at the blood on Kozmo's hand. "Suspicious..."

Kozmo tried to move away, but Alpha stopped him. "I think you need a rest, friend," he said, nodding sincerely. "And I think I know the place..." he continued, putting a pair of handcuffs on him.

================================

"Is it finally over?" Satius asked, once Alpha had put away Kozmo. This entire game was getting rather tiring for all of them.

"Well, unless you want to pursue vendetta against Ichi, we're all that's left," Alpha replied, shaking his head. "I still don't appreciate what you did to my sister."

"I told you that was an accident," Satius said, glaring resentfully. "I'd rather you not bring it up again. I already apologized,"

"What did I miss?" Ginji of Thunder said, walking out of the shadows.

"Nothing, I'd say," Meliara the White replied, showing up in a flurry of snow. The others in the group jumped a bit; they still weren't used to her having the abilities of the Scratch.

"So, A Killer win, and we divide the city between us?" Alpha asked, clasping his hands together.

"Looks like it," Satius said, shaking his hand. Game over.
