S'kor had talked with his fellow bronze rider the previous night at dinner about taking the large boys out for a Myst Weed hunt. Just to see how they could do. With D'lin's agreement he'd gathered up some hunting supplies. S'kor figured the bronzes could hunt for a quick meal while himself and D'lin hunted the pesky little plants.
It was pre-dawn and the pair were waiting for their companions. The bronze stood steady, the packs across his broad back holding the tools His would use.

D'lin had wanted to arrive a touch earlier then he had but Plexith had insisted upon double checking to make sure they had everything before going off to meet S'kor and his. Of course when D'lin had pointed out they had already checked the night before Plexith had merely told him it was proper to double check such things and honestly..it was easier to just comply then argue with the bronze.
'look they have arrived before us, we're late now' D'lin pointed out as they came in for a landing beside the pair. 'But we know we haven't forgotten anything' Plexith responded before bugling a greeting to his fellow bronze as they landed

Scarath waved his wings and tossed his head as he heard and saw the other bronze. 'Plexith! Finally you have come. The sun is near up and we should be gone.' It was slightly disapproving, but he was glad his fellow bronze had arrived. His eyes whirled with excitement. 'Mine, Plexith and His are here. We may go now.'
S'kor nodded as Scarath passed along the information. It wasn't as if he couldn't hear the other. He climbed up the side of his dragon with something close to ease. It had taken quite awhile to get use to the bigger dragon. He certainly wasn't any stallion.
Mounted he waved to D'lin. "Hey there. Ready to go out? Any idea where you'd like to hunt?"

'The sun has not yet come up however' Plexith reminded his fellow bronze 'We will still be gone in good time' He concluded quite sure that they were still on a good schedule for this outing and like Scarath quite excited to be off now that they were ready to do so. 'Scarath and his are ready mine, we should be off' He relayed to D'lin.
'Hold a second while we figure out where we should be off to' D'lin told his eager dragon and greeting S'kor "Hey sorry we're a bit late" he apologized before furrowing his brow in thought while he considered S'kor's question. "I think some of the others searched the eastern part of the territory already, did you want to try the west?

The large bronze twisted his head around to look toward the horizon where the sky was just starting to lighten and turn blue. He had to admit that Plexith was right. Yes, we will get out early and claim the best spot to hunt. Scarath didn't often get to speak with Plexith and was glad to be spending the day with him.
S'kor shared a grin at their dragon's eagerness to be gone. "You're not late. We're just early. West works for me. You want to take lead then?" It didn't matter to him if he was first or second. S'kor liked that about his bronze. Scarath wasn't always striving to be in the lead.

'As we should' Plexith agreed to his fellow bronze. To Plexith's mind they really shouldn't even have to claim it...as bronze's such things as the best hunting grounds should just be given to them outright. Unless of course a queen was hunting..but such deference to the golds was acceptable. It was simply the way things were, and should remain.
"West it is then" D'lin confimed with a nod, he didn't even bother consulting with Plexith about taking the lead...no one ever had to ask Plexith twice when it came to such things. He always wanted to be in the lead, tiring at times...but D'lin had learned to roll with it more often then fighting against it."Ready?" He asked Skor "Lets go then" He told S'kor and Plexith who had already crouched in readiness leapt off the ground in one powerful leap, fierce downstrokes of his massive wings rising him higher and higher until they could bank off towards the west. 'Have Scarath tell S'kor that there is a stream to the west that I think might be a good place to start looking' D'lin bespoke Plexith who relayed the message to his bronze companion in swift fashion

Scarath rumbled happily. There would be much successful hunting in his mind. The bronzes would have a good hunt, and Theirs would also have a good hunt. Of course anywhere they went would have been good for him. 'Mine, Plexith says His thinks there is a stream to the west. It might be a good place to start.'
S'kor nodded to show his readiness. He gave Scarath the command to fly. His eyes squinted as the two massive dragons took flight. Scarath just a few feet behind his fellow bronze. A feral grin of pride crossed his lips as he felt the power of the muscles between his legs. The past year of making sure the hungry bronze hadn't over-eaten definitely paid off.
He leaned into the straps as Scarath started to bank. That'll be fine with me. We can always fan out from there. He replied, knowing his dragon would send it on.

'That is fine with Scarath and his' Plexith relayed upon receiving the other dragon's answer, The location D'lin was thinking of wasn't all that far off and of course the two bronzes made good time, an easy flight for two such strong dragons and before long D'lin was pointing out a likely landing spot to his fellow rider and Plexith was spiraling down towards the grassy clearing beside the stream.
Touching down lightly he tucked his wings in and waited for Scarath to land beside him.

Though it was a short flight, S'kor enjoyed it. Relatively quite except for dragon wings and the whistling wind. He was almost disappointed when it came to an end so quickly. When D'lin pointed to a spot he squinted to sight the nodded. It looked like a good spot. Head on down Scarath.
'Yes Mine. Scarath saw where Plexith intended to land. He chose a spot that would give them both enough wing room for them both. The bronze came down in a thunder of back winging wings. Settling down onto the soft ground, he flipped his wings against his back.
A deep exhale then inhale brought the scents. 'Plexith, do you smell that? Wherries are nearby. I hope I did not scare them away.
S'kor unbuckled the straps and dismounted. He affectionately slapped his dragon's foreleg.

'Even if they have started running they will be no match for the likes of us' Plexith stated with confidence 'We will find them and eat well' He concluded with a hint of excitement in his voice. He was hungry obviously but hunting the penned herdbeasts at the Weyr wasn't nearly as much fun as tracking them down out here.
'Try not to stuff yourself too much' D'lin told the bronze with a affectionate pat before he undid the satchels he'd brought with him and slung them over his shoulder before dismounting to join S'kor. "what do you think? I figure we can start here and work our way down the stream a bit. They say the plants like moisture and shade..so seemed like a good location to me"

S'kor pulled his supplies away from the bronze. He looked around with a hand on his hip. "As good a spot as any. If there's anything here we should find it. Should be plenty damp and shady."
He turned back to Scarath, "Go ahead and take off. Get a good meal while we hunt for this weed." S'kor shielded his eyes as his dragon took off in a flurry of wing beats. Once the dragons had departed, S'kor turned to his fellow dragonrider.
"Think we should search opposite sides of the steam?"
Scarath rumbled at the thought of wild game. They would be tasty. We will go hunt Mine, then return. He leaps back into the sky.

D'lin watched as Plexith and Scarath took to the skies, they were certainly impressive to be seen side by side like that with this metallic hides and pretty markings. He and S'kor had certainly gotten the good end of the deal at that hatching if he did say so himself.
'Have a good hunt' He wished Plexith and felt his warm return before turning back to S'kor. "That might be more efficient " He agreed, and the stream was small enough that they could easily still chat to pass the time while they worked "You can take th side if you want and I'll cross to the other?" He suggested "Theres some stones there that I can use as stepping tones to get across' He motioned with his head a few feet downstream.

Scarath took off with the other dragon to go fill their bellies. Then they could come back and sun until Theirs was finished.
S'kor felt his eyes drawn to his dragon. Proudly he watched the hulking bronze until he was out of sight. He'd never tired of watching. Reluctantly he turned back to the job at hand.
"Sure, this side is fine for me. Take care not to fall in. I bet that water is cold." With that decided, S'kor got his stuff set up and began to search. He bent down to lift aside leaves to look under them. The best way for this to end, he knew, was D'lin staying dry, the dragons being well fed, and them returning home with live Mystweed.

D'lin eyed the rapid waters and had to agree with S'kor - this time of year? It was likely they were downright frigid though he certainly had no desire to find out for sure "Aw...can't be any worse then jumping the stream back where I grew up" He assured the other rider before adjusting his pack and making his way across the stream with a few quick jumps...and thankfully only one close call.
Like his fellow D'lin began to search under the hanging branches of streamside bushes and shift fallen leaves aside to peer beneath them. "Do you see anything likely?" He called across to S'kor after they had been searching for a little while, kicking aside another leaf and peering down at the plant beneath. "I think I found one!" He suddenly yelled across "And it looks fairly healthy"
