The clearing was large. That was good. It would have to be for all the Soquili to meet comfortably without fears of someone being left out.

Orion's Verse looked around with a keen eye. Everything seemed perfect for the upcoming event and he couldn't help but feel a wash of pride go through him. The stallion's family had grown largely in the past year and now it was time to get everyone together.

He glimpsed Katell out of the corner of his eye and wondered how she was feeling. This was going to be an interesting day. They hadn't seen their grandchildren as of yet and so there was excitement in the air as well.

"What time did our children say they were coming by?"

Katell stood in the sunlight, anticipation coursing through her. The last she had properly seen her children they were expecting baskets. They had, however, failed to show her the resulting foals as of yet. Which, she knew, were no longer foals.

Katell sighed. She expected such things of her son, but not as much of her daughter.Oh, well. The mare knew time could get away from anyone. No matter, she would meet some of her grandchildren today. That made her very happy.

"Hm, I think by mid-morning," she mare cast a glance at the sky. "Any time now, I suppose."

Orion nodded in response to Katell's statement before glancing around. He'd heard stories - but only stories on what had occurred since his children left. Blinking in the sunlight he moved to Katell's side before nuzzling her softly. The stallion knew that she was just as excited as he was.

"I'm sure they will be here soon."

Lyrical Sky harrumphed in annoyance. The mare was at most times a very easy individual to get along with but having children seemed to have changed her. She was a little more tense at times when her children seemed to show off to each other or to her. Her son currently was flying ahead and performing neat little tricks mid-flight to try and impress her. All it was really doing was causing the mare to stress unduly about the reunion.

"Fin. Stop that and get down here. We're almost at the place your grandmother and grandfather decided on for our meeting and I don't think they'd appreciate your aerial tactics."

Storm's Finale aka Fin glanced down at his mother from the air. He cast a smirk at the uni mare before alighting on the ground behind her. Shuffling his wings he trotted to her side before nudging her flank. For the alicorn sometimes it was too easy to get under his mother's skin. He knew exactly which buttons to press and press them he did.

"Are we there yet? I thought I saw a clearing ahead. Is that where we are meeting?"

Without giving his mother a chance to reply Fin launched himself into the air once more and flew on ahead. He shouted in surprise before turning back to face his mother.

"This is the place! I can see my grandparents!!"

Katell watched the area around the hill, waiting for her first glimpse of her family. She looked for any movement at all, the anticipation she felt was still rising.

"There!" she said. There, in the air not too far off, was a winged Soquili. She could easily see that it wasn't her son, even though he did look like he might belong in the family. That would mean it had to be one of her grandchildren! "What do you think, dear?" She turned and nuzzled her mate, excited that this day had finally come.

---

Still a bit of a distance away, Nightfall flew through the air, heading in what he hoped was in the right direction. "Now, I'm fairly certain it was this way," he called over his shoulder. One of his daughters was flying just a bit behind him. She had agreed to come with him to meet the rest of her family. He was happy about this meeting, he wanted to see his parents again. "I think we might be a bit late, though."

Alliarin sighed. Her father and her were headed towards a meeting with her grandparents. However, her father, in his own standard fashion, had held them up. They would, in fact, be late.

She was, however, sure that they were headed in the right direction. "Well, then perhaps we should move a little faster." She gave a hearty flap, and moved to speed up. "Really father, you would think that you of all winged horses would know how to move!" The veered off ahead of him, keeping an eye out for the clearing where her grandparents were supposed to be waiting.

Orion's gaze snapped to the airborne figure in the sky before realizing that it wasn't Nightfall. So he wondered who was closer to the clearing: Nightfall or Lyrical Sky. His bet fell on his daughter. She had always been the punctual one. Orion's smile said more than words could as he returned Katell's nuzzle before speaking softly. "I think you are right."

As the figure neared them and came in for a landing another soquili cantered into the clearing.

Lyrical Sky glanced once more the her son in the air before grumbling about children and how they never listened once they grew up. Shaking the exhaustion of the journey to the meeting place the mare broke into a canter and entered the area set aside for this occasion. There in the center stood her mother and father and she rushed forward eagerly to greet them. Her gaze narrowed to Fin's figure still in the air and she hollered at him. That done she returned her gaze to her parents before nuzzling each one in turn.

Storm's Finale snickered softly as he landed in the clearing before his mother arrived. The pair standing side by side could only have been his grandparents. His mother's arrival was hardly silent as she cantered the last leg of the trip in less than a minute. Wow. It was the fastest he'd seen her. Nickering softly he lowered his head and tore a mouthful of grass from the ground before chewing the blades.

Katell's heart leaped with joy as she saw her daughter enter the clearing. The stallion in the air must be her grandson, then. She eyed him approvingly before turning back to her daughter, who had approached fast.
"Lyrical Sky," she said as she returned her daughters nuzzle, "look at you." She took a step back to gaze on her daughter. She looked good, and that warmed the mare's heart to see. "How have you been? And who is this?" She gave a light toss of her head in the direction of the young stallion.

"There!" Alli called to her father. She could see the clearing and the four Soquili in it. They were indeed late. Oh, well, they were here now. Her heart fluttered a bit as she slowed, planning to make a smooth descent and landing. She eyed the others. Her grandparents must be that pair, and her aunt the one nuzzling them. That left the winged stallion as her cousin. Amazing how fast a family can grow!

She gave a flap, and lightly landed on the ground not too far from the group. She ruffled her wings as she folded them. Why on earth was she nervous now?!

Night was trailing just a bit behind his daughter when she called out and began to descend. He looked ahead, and could indeed see his family already there. Well. He was happy to see them. He really did love them.

He landed just a wing beat after his daughter, and saw the nervous ruffle of her wings. He picked up into a trot and nudged at her as he passed by. "Come on, they won't bite!"

He slowed as he reached the group, "Mom! Dad! Sky!" He said cheerfully in greeting.

Lyrical Sky glanced at her son that had finally come down from the sky before turning her attention to her mother and father. She beamed with happiness at her mother's compliments. Almost shyly she smiled before speaking. "I've been well mother. I have put some of my problems from my youth behind me. I feel more free without worrying about being jealous," Sky flicked her ears at her mother's question. "That would be Storm's Finale. My son and your grandson. My other child Iris decided to stay with her father."

Seeing that her son was still munching on grass Lyrical sighed before yelling out, "Storm - come meet your grandparents."

After that exclamation Lyrical Sky turned at the sound of others arriving before spotting a wind Soquili come in for a landing and another familiar face. "Nightfall!" The unicorn mare turned and headed towards her brother.

Storm's Finale watched the reunion silently before hearing others behind him. He turned to see a lovely wind Soquili and another Alicorn land before ducking his head in greeting. This must have been his mother's brother and one of his children. Huh - so he had cousins. It was around this time that his mother's voice cut into his musings. Slowly he approached the couple in the middle and flicked his ears forward before nodding politely.

"Good day Grandmother and Grandfather. I'm Storm's Finale."

Orion watched with pleasure at the reunion going on before realizing that his son and his daughter arrived almost silently. Grinning at the scene before him Orion's Verse chuckled with delight. His family was growing strong. And so many of his offspring had wings. That would tickle his own father's mood. Going to Alliarin, his granddaughter, he nuzzled her softly. "Good day granddaughter."
