Kai Wendelin The steady clunk of shoes on metal alerted anyone nearby that he was stalking the halls. Not that he intended to sound menacing he just did not intend to quietly move about the ship with the stealth everyone knew he had. He breathed in deeply, noting the smells of metal, oil and the various other things that one smelt aboard a ship and made it work. It was a smell he was long use to and one that he would identify with as home. Things had been fairly routine and that bored the tall light hearted man with nothing better to do than aimlessly wander. Of course anyone would think he was patrolling, filling his duty as a member of the security team but in all honesty he was not. He was just attempting to find entertainment in a place too fond of peace for a pirate ship. However he also knew that his boredom and desire for something new and exciting would come back to bite him in the arse.
"Wish for trouble and you shall receive." he sighed to himself as he scratched the back of his head, stopping in his tracks. He released a small laugh before distraction took his attention with the sound of humming. That voice was all too familiar and he had no problems with placing a mischievous smirk on his face and using his experience in security to quietly slip through the halls unnoticed. Somewhere someone was probably confused by the sudden silence but the melodious purr did not halt; she had not noticed. She never did really and that was his entertainment. If people were immediately around her and talking she always did but footsteps were never anything she listened out for. At times he had scolded her for it saying someone infiltrating the ship could sneak up on her and kill her. She had calmly embraced him and laughed saying something along the lines of "that's what you're here for". Then she had given him a quick peck before turning back to her work. He grinned with the fond memories as the very person he thought about came into view.
She was in a dead end hallway that did not go very far making it look almost like a pointless inlet in the wall but she knew otherwise. Her fingers expertly worked on the metal and intricate jumble of machinery that hid in the area occasionally pulling a tool from the belt around her shapely hips. Staring at her lower half he released a content purr without even meaning to and suddenly her music stopped with a laugh. She did not turn around though and instead continued her work ignoring the man behind her. Key made an indignant huff that betrayed his amusement more than his mock annoyance. It was very hard for him to actually get angry at her and the damn woman knew it too.
"Come on, that's not fair. You should reward me for not startling you." he interjected as he strode up to embrace her from behind, nuzzling into the crook of her neck. He was content to just hold her, eyes calmly closed as he cherished the moment. The recent calm made most people forget that Orion was dangerous. Kai was not most people. His mind would not let him forget that life slipped through ones fingers, especially in their profession. Calmly he opened his eyes, losing the smile on his lips as they ran away from beloved flesh. "What has my little bird been listening to, hmm?" he requested giving her a gentle, reassuring squeeze as he awaited the answer.

Natasha Wendelin She hummed softly in the quiet halls of the ship she loved so much. The groaning of metal bending the slightest fraction, the hum of machinery old enough to no longer be silent, the tiniest hint of a sensation that you were moving that only the most experienced and observant space traveller noticed. It was her passion, her home and her life and she would not trade it for anything. Her history spent cooking and mending seemed like part of another lifetime as now she expertly upgraded, maintained and mended machinery she had once only read about. At times she missed that simple life but it was a past she had put behind herself. She was content with the present if not infatuated with the ships it held and the love she found in another.
Speaking of which, her humming was halted with musical laughter when she caught the appreciative purr of the very devil she thought of. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. she thought to herself as she chose deliberately to pretend she had not heard him. Natasha’s fingers instinctively worked on the machinery before her even as her head filled with thoughts of the man behind the woman. It pleased Tasha to have reached the level of engineer where maintaining mechanics became second nature. She continued to keep her back to the member of security when she heard his mock sulk hoping to hide the silly, knowing grin on her face although she guessed he had assumed it was there anyway. They knew each other a little too well sometimes.
She could not help the rush of excitement as his arms wrapped around her body in a strong embrace. Natasha leant back into his hold, closing her eyes and smiling at the attention paid to the bare skin at her neck. She counted the silence knowing that in a few seconds he would lose the jester's behaviour he was infamous for. But she did not mind being one of the few people he opened up to. It made her feel significant to know how much he loved her. Calmly she listened to his request, mulling over her response. So it has been bothering you. she thought as she held the arms that gently embraced her. She traced patterns on the skin of his arms hoping it would encourage peace in his mind although she knew it was little help but he would appreciate it.
"The Blue Sun corporation has discovered a 'decent' source of Iridum. The valuable substance has been mined and is being transported. Various Rekef ships are on their way to 'commandeer' some 'free property'. Some groups cheer in anticipation for good loot, others, like this little bird, believe that this is too easy. The Blue Sun is not a brainless business. Businesses don't get that big unless they're intelligent and subtle. There's something hiding in plain sight. Other groups also whisper of forgotten chess pieces. There's a third party in this game that we've forgotten about." Tasha elaborated as if she were a computer. She sighed, not liking where this was obviously heading as she turned in Kai's arms and leant her forehead on his chest. "All of this is rumour and speculation...but the one thing no one says, no one whispers...No one wants to point it out but it's obvious it's there. Everyone's starting to realize that Orion has decided it’s not big enough for three players." she concluded before wrapping her arms around her lover and using his strength to ignore the impending danger of war.

Sureika ‘Su’ Yvansen Su sighed as she cleaned out her energy pistol for the fourth time in as many hours. She was bored. Granted, security wasn't the most glamorous job, but was it too much to ask for a little excitement every once in a while. Probably... And she would most likely regret wishing for excitement once something happened. How did that old human saying go? Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it? Something like that. She shook her head and resumed cleaning out her gun. Her face did not betray any of her thoughts. To her colleagues she was the same quiet woman she'd always been, even if on the inside she was screaming out of boredom. Finishing with the gun, she clipped it back to her belt and got to her feet. Grabbing the strap of her combat shotgun, she slung it over her shoulder, securing the gun securely to her back. Her shift was up now, and she should probably begin patrolling the halls.
Leaving her quarters, she turned to her right and began to head down the hall. The sharp click click of her boots was a familiar sound, one she took comfort in. Routine... routine was good, even if it wasn't exciting. It meant things were flowing smoothly, there was nothing to worry about. So far anyways. There was always an element of unpredictability in life, but that was why she was here. Security. Her job was to handle the unpredictable. Turning the corner, she paused to look out of one of the many observation windows on the ship. Placing a hand on the wall, she leaned forward. Space... Many people felt that it was a bit intimidating, but as for her, she felt most at home out here, on this ship. Space was comforting in its own way. t was a pity not everyone could understand that.
Shaking her head, she resumed her patrol. Reaching a hand up to wrap her fingers around her necklace, she sighed. Tir... would you have been as bored as I am right now? Her friend had never been given the chance to be assigned to a ship. He hadn't gotten much of a chance to do anything really. Looking down at the two small adamantite dog tags, one with her information on it, the other with his, that he had gotten her for her birthday, she blinked. It was her most precious possession, not because of the material that it was made out of, though that certainly gave it a significant monetary value, but because of the thought that had gone into it.
Humming to herself, she continued to make her way down the halls, nodding to the occasional passer by. This ship and everyone on it were her 'family' in a manner of speaking, and she would do her best to protect them. Even if that meant suffering through a boring walk around the ship several times over. At least she was able to do her part. Within her chest, her worm fluttered and she placed her hand above her breast. Ah... she'd been daydreaming too long. It wanted her to focus more on her task, as she should. "Of course," she murmured. The fluttering ceased and she was able to continue her walk without incident.
