Character Name: Morgaine
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Apprentice Healer/ Candidate
History: From a young age Morgaine was made aware of the diseases and illnesses in the world by her mother who was a healer. She spent a great deal of time with her mother at a early age helping her tend to the sick and it was then that she become paranoid with the diseases that others carried and made it her life goal to find cures for them. She also dreamed about dragons, hoping to one day become a dragon rider, however her obsession with finding cures made her bury this love deep inside so that it would not distract from her mission in life.

When she was old enough to become an apprentice it was an easy choice to follow in her mothers footsteps and become a healer. Though creating simple concoctions was not enough for her as she wished to find the secrets of the herbs and discover other uses for them as well. There had to be more than one or two uses for certain herbs what with all the diseases roaming about the lands. So she began to also study anything she could find on herbs and medicine, soaking it all up like a sponge.

Her childhood friend Mercy, who was also an apprentice healer, helped her out greatly as she too shared her knowledge of herbs with Morgaine. When Mercy left to join the weyr Morgaines love of dragons was once again rekindled, and while she continued to work to find new cures and maintain a clean living space she couldn’t help but dream once more about becoming a dragon rider.

When Morgaine was searched by the search dragon a year after Mercy left she was more than willing to accept the offer. She would continue to work with herbs and medicines as her paranoia over diseases was too great to give up, plus surely there would be healer work in the weyr for her. And should she be unsuccessful in bonding with a dragon she could always return home and continue her work there. So she left to realize her dream of working with dragons and combine that with her need to cleanse the world of diseases.
Description: Morgaine is a bit taller than the average girl her age. Her long frame shows off her slender body build. Her skin is usually on the pale side as she spends a good deal of her time hidden away in the records rooms looking over musty old hides and does not spend enough time in the sun as she should. Hair is black and hangs down to her waist, and is most often worn in a single braid that hangs down her back. Her eyes are a pale blue.

Personality: Morgaine is a bit of a book worm, often found nosing about the
various records rooms looking for any new or old/lost information about herbs and
medicine. While generally even-tempered and decently happy while reading, should
anyone interrupt her research then they will see her temper flair up quickly. This is
mainly due to the fact that her incessant need for finding cures stems from her view that everything and everyone is a potential cesspool of disease that she herself must cure, though she also believes she will never succeed in this. Morgaine thinks everything is going to turn out badly all the time and has trouble seeing bright side of things.

Morgaine is also a clean freak, constantly making sure everything around her is washed and kept clean, for cleanliness will help keep all those diseases at bay. This leads her to be a workaholic, always doing what she can to keep things not only clean, but organized as well, because she does not want to die from a disease and therefore must find a cure. She is vigilant and a touch paranoid, to keep accidents from befalling her at all times. Her organizational skills and memory are her key to ensuring that her work does not backfire on her, making sure everything is in it’s place at all times and remembering what herbs and concoctions are dangerous. Things kept where they belong are safer than having them strewn about everywhere.

Though her negativity keeps her from thinking she will ever succeed in finding cures, she is flexible in her research, knowing that continuing stubbornly along a path that will lead to nothing only has the potential to get her hurt or worse, infected by one of her supposed cures.

When it comes to others Morgaine is most comfortable around those she knows, showing off her more relaxed side. Those who she is unfamiliar with she will keep her distance from them, this helps avoid all those diseases they so clearly carry, if she does interact with those she doesn’t know she can be a bit critical of them, though not overly gruff as they could potentially have information that she could use in her research. Should she hear about someone who is knowledgeable in herbs and medicine she will openly seek them out if only to discover what they know. Any personal information about herself is closely guarded and only shared with those she completely trusts.
