Ment wasn't feeling like looking for materials to craft today. He was far too mentally tired having spent the last several days worrying about where his bird companion could have gone to. He laid in the grass, his red mane clearly visible in the sea of green. The little blades of grass were prickling against his skin and it made him shift continuously. He couldn't find a comfortable position.
"She better apologize when she gets back," He muttered to himself, wiggling in the grass some more to itch his back. He got bit by some fire ants earlier in the day, and although the sting had died down the itch still remained. He was beginning to think he'd probably have to go rub himself into some mud, but the stain would be worse to get out than after he made a kill. At least when he made a kill it blended into his natural coloring.
Damn her father. Damn him to hell and back! How DARE he try and arrange something behind her back! She loved her father dearly, and normally he thought quite rationally...But for some reason, he'd been especially paranoid about marrying her off! And now...oh he had gone too far, trying to arrange matters without her involvement. The purple and blue lioness had stared at her father a moment, before taking off. Let him worry a night or two! She was a well-enough huntress to feed herself for a couple of days while she spent time in the rogue lands. And when she got back...
She was talking to Jokull again. It seemed that 'just in case' was going to become 'needs to happen'. She was NOT marrying someone she barely knew! Unfortunately, in the midst of her tumbling thoughts, she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and stumbled right over a creature, yelping as she literally went tumbling. "Ow...."
Ment hadn't been paying much attention to what was around him, that was until what had been around him tripped over his form, kicking him in the side and than falling on top of him. He let out a less than polite grunt, and lifted his head to see what exactly had toppled onto him. If it was a prey animal, than it seemed his luck was going to be turned around, if it were something else, well...
"Well hello there," Ment said, a cheesy grin spreading across his face at the site of the lovely pink and purple lioness that had tumbled onto him. At the moment the pain from the initial blow where he was kicked wasn't so bad, not when he had such a beauty already falling over herself for him. Boy, if Chopoa was here... Well, she'd be pissy over it, no doubt. She was the same way with the crazy black one he had fun with so long ago.
Gaelle shook her head to clear it, and looked at the creature she'd fallen on. Oh. A male. Well...she might as well be polite, since she HAD tripped on him. She got up, smiling apologetically.
"Hello. I apologize for tripping over you. I'm afraid I was lost in thought and not paying attention to my surroundings." His grin was a little odd...but then again, rogues did things differently. And he was most definitely a rogue, she thought.
"If everyone who tripped over me happened to be as lovely as you, I wouldn't mind it at all," Ment said with a chuckle. She seemed very proper for a Rogue lioness. He wondered if perhaps she was like the one lioness, Sabbia was her name, that he had met only several days ago. A pridal lion out on a stroll.
"What was plaguing your mind?" Ment asked plainly, "Maybe I could help you figure it out."
Not that he really could help her figure anything out. His mind was being plagued too. Chopoa, when she got back he was going to yell at her until she felt terrible for leaving him. He felt absolutely worthless and helpless without her, not to mention he was lonely. You never realize how lonely Rogue land life could be until after you got used to having a companion and than lose them.
Gaelle flushed a bit, wishing her tail was a little longer so she could have tried hiding her face behind it. A charmer, apparently. Well...no harm in talking with him. She sighed, deciding it wouldn't hurt to share.
"My father has been trying to convince me to take a mate for some time now. But I've not met anyone yet that truly catches my interest. Well...he decided to try going behind my back about it and arrange something with a male I barely know, and had the nerves to think I wouldn't be hurt and offended!" She huffed angrily. "I'm his only daughter!"
"That is quite a predicament," Ment said, quirking his head to the side. " I don't see why your father wants you to settle down in such a hurry. I mean, if you're his only daughter wouldn't he want toe absolute best for you? And I can't imagine that anyone would qualify as 'the absolute best' for his daughter. At least, that's the way I'd see it if I was him."
Granted, he wasn't him and Ment didn't even know he had daughters, so his room to talk was closing in rather quickly. He had always wondered what it would be like to have children and if he had any children, but it never went quite past a tiny musing in his brain. Despite having become a little more responsible with himself by joining a pride and taking on duties to someone other than himself, he still acted like a child. Sleeping with whomever, whenever, despite the consequences.
Gaelle sighed. "It is quite a tangle. And he does mean well. But...our pride is old, and traditions run deep. And usually the father is the one who arranges things for his daughters. And he's not getting any younger." She huffed. "I have a back-up plan, of course, but.." She lifted her chin a bit. "I want to make Father worry a little."
"That's a bit nefarious for someone who seems like she was raised with manners in mind," Ment said with a grin. Her rebellion was a rather charming sight, and he only wished he understood why she felt the need to worry her father so. Unfortunately, Ment didn't know who his father was and didn't much like him anyway. What with the using his mom and than just leaving her like some common whore at the side of the watering hole. If Ment really did know his father, his impression about him would probably not change. In fact, it'd probably be worse.
"If he's old, you shouldn't worry him too much." Ment said, poking a paw at the lioness.
Gaelle giggled, smiling slightly. "Well, when you grow up learning games of intrigues to stay on top of the other ladies your age, you get a knack for plotting. I've just never used it against my parents before." She sighed. "I won't make him worry too much. Just a night or two. Enough to show him how VERY unhappy I was at what he did."
"I'm sure he'll get that message loud and clear," Ment said with a smile, "But what are you going to do out here for the net few days while you make him worry? It's pretty rough out here in the Rogue Lands. Lots of creatures with ill intent, those kinds of things."
Ment decided it was probably best for him to roll over and off his back, what with his underbelly being exposed and everything. He gave himself a small, quick shake to get some of the grass out of his fur and gave the lioness another grin, "I don't think I got your name... I'm Ment."
"Well...in all truth, I've never met a rogue with ill-intent. All the ones I've met have been at least willing to talk, or just simply go on their way. And I'm a good hunter. I can easily feed myself." She took pride in her hunting skills. Oh! She'd totally forgotten her name! She winced a bit at that, then bowed.
"A pleasure to meet you Ment. I'm Gaelle." She smiled at him. Then an idea struck her. "I wonder...would you mind some company for a day or two?" He seemed a nice lion, and was nothing like the boys back home. It would be a nice change of pace to deal with someone like him.
Gaelle was a pretty name. What was it lately with him running into women with such pretty names? He's been remembering them, and he didn't even do any hanky panky with them. Hell, he wasn't sure he remembered the name of the last lioness who he found himself carnally involved with. When he stopped to think about it for a moment, it really made him sound lack a giant jack a**, didn't it?
"Not at all," Ment said, his grin growing a bit wider, "I'd love some company. My usual companion saw it fit to go wander off on her own for a while and decided not to let me know where she went, so I've been a little on the lonely side... You don't really know how important companions are until they're gone for awhile."
Ment welcomed Gaelle's suggestion whole-heartidly. At least he wouldn't feel so lonely for a couple of days, and hey, maybe he could eve learn something about her pride with it's deep traditions. It'd be more interesting information for him to bring back to the Simbafutaji with him, and they were always about getting new information. Like ant eaters in a mound, or something.
Gaelle was relieved at that. It had threatened to be rather lonely, since her own avian companion and aide was back in the Ardhi. "Very true. We lions just weren't made to be alone. Best in groups or pairs. With friends." She nodded. "So...what were you doing before I interrupted?"
Ment nodded his head to her, agreeing with her sentiments. Though he had been alone for most of his life, but he decided not to get into that subject with her. Since she seemingly had both her parents he didn't expect her to understand what it was like to be one of many children to an only mother who allowed herself to be used constantly. Instead he focused on her question.
"I was actually just scratching my back and trying to get comfortable. I've been feeling a bit restless lately," He said quietly, feeling his stomach rumble a bit. Usually at this time Chopoa and him would be out on the hunt. She would help spot the prey for him, and he would stalk and kill it. Not that Chopoa actually ate the meat, since she was a bug eater, but she liked to help.
"Well than...Do you want to get back to relaxing? Or would you like to do something else?" Around this time, she knew she was usually eating, or joining the hunt. Perhaps it was the same with him as well? Either way, she'd be just fine with whatever he suggested. Well...mostly. She certainly wasn't going to murder anyone or anything like that. But she was going to enjoy a couple days of freedom from 'priviledge'.
"You wanna join me hunting?" Ment asked, giving her a grin, his stomach giving off another growl except louder, "My stomach is practically begging for food."
He gave Gaelle a chuckle, his cheesy charm showing as he laughed at his own silly joke. He hadn't ever hunted with another lion, let alone a lioness. Generally he had already had a kill or stumbled across someone who had a kill and was willing to share. This would be an entirely new experience for him, and since it was with a woman he had to make sure he didn't fail too badly. He liked making good impressions after all.
"Would you like to lead?" Ment offered, smiling. He figure it was probably proper in some way to offer the lady the chance to be in command or something. He wasn't too sure. He wasn't any sort of nobility after all.
Gaelle giggled and nodded. "Well than! Hunting it is!" Obviously, one thing about males was the same all over. They thought with their stomachs. "If you want me to lead, than I think I can do that." She looked about for a moment, sniffing the air carefully. And then stopped. "This way." She would enjoy the time outside of the pride, she thought. She would enjoy her little bit of freedom before tying herself down and forgetting about a whirlwind romance.
