ZONE 2b: CANDY CANE LANE
crossing time: 1 1/2 days

Upon exiting the forest, the gnomes are nowhere to be seen, but hey, there's some more students over there! They look a bit ragged, but maybe one or two of them would make a good traveling companion? There's three paths to take and hmmm...the middle route looks pretty quick and easy!

Despite all warnings against it, you find yourself traveling down the wide peppermint striped path called CandyCane Lane. Though surrounded by clean white snow, the path isn't terribly cold to travel. You don't see much of anything out there and it's very...quiet.

Quote:

The OOC: this area takes 1 1/2 days to cross! When you make your "entry" post, your student does not get to post an "exit" until 36 hours later! You only need those two posts to cross, but your chances of getting to battle will be low if that's all you do, so go ahead and make with the regular RP here as well!

Various cars and groups had reached the fork, but it looked like no one was taking the straight-looking and entirely empty middle path.

It looked like the ideal place for a nap, actually.

There was that minty smell, but Barth could forgive it for the refreshing quiet and noticeable lack of climbing. He remembered something vague about danger, but he probably wouldn't run into any (if he could help it, he wouldn't be doing any running, period).

Anything that meant less hiking.

Raziel didn't have to run for long, the beginnings of the paths for all three directions were very close to each other. He could see lots of students starting to come out of the trees of the forest. He wondered exactly how many were going what direction. So far, he only saw one other student on the Candy Cane Lane, someone he didn't know.

Slowing as he reached the other student, Raziel caught his breath for a moment before saying, "Hey, I'm Raziel, what's your name?"

Raziel was sure this road would be the right one. Who cares if it was "more dangerous" than the others? As long as he had his carol of the bells he had picked up, he could keep on going, right?

"Bartholomew Mudd," he answered with a yawn, proceeding very slowly. His tent was still wrapped around him as an auxillary blanket. At least it wasn't as cold here as whatever poor group had soldiered North. Into the mountains. So much climbing.

"Krumm car, previously. Always nice to meet, err, a fellow not-interested-in-long-distance-hiking-er."

Raziel nodded at the name and information, then offered up his own.

"Nice to meet you as well Bartholomew. I was with the Oblina car before now."

There was something about this demon that was quite different from all the other students Raziel had met on this... adventure. Bartholomew seemed like he would be someone Raziel got along with quite well.

Basil keep running toward her chosen path, she didn't look back to see if Jamais had followed, but it would sure be nice. She felt sorry soon after for running off like that. Ooh but this CandyCane Lane was so pretty, and warmer!

She saw two other students already there and the reaper slowed to a jog, then she was walking near them "Hi! I'm Basil! Mind if I walk with you guys?" Basil was smiling, the quiet and colorful-ness all around her was so odd, but she found her self happy looking at it all. Nothing boring here for now!

It took Jamais a bit to catch up. She was panting, the fight with the tree must've taken more out of her than she thought. Her arm rested on Basil's shoulder.

"Next time," She paused, "don't run so fast, jack damnit." Her tail flickered after she caught her breath. Ears flickered, she gave a soft wave towards the others. "Jamais."

She sighed, running a hand through her hair pulling out a pine quill she looked around, well at least it smelled better than the cheap booze.

Basil smiled up at Jamais when she caught up "Aww, your no fun, I like running!" She had to shifted her tent on her shoulder a bit to balance out.

"I think it will be nice here! and don't you feel a bit warmer already?"

It wasn't long after he could no longer see Livi, Corbin and Iolanthe behind him that he noticed it. CandyCane Lane wasn't clearly visible from where West stood, but it was fairly clearly smellible. And there! In between the trees he could see the broad red and white path stretching through the center of the forest.

He muddily recalled that bitchfaced gnome mentioning something about how this path wasn't safe. "CandyCane Lane is a deathtrap for our kind and only the truly strong may take it!" Yeah, that was it. Feh! What was he if not truly strong? Nothing, that's what!

West took a quick peek around. The students that had accompanied him until now, the Ickis Car kids, were nowhere to be seen. No one to witness him running off. Excellent. He hefted his EXTREME SNOWBALL LAUNCHER 5000 once more and ducked under a few low-hanging branches. With each step, his boots clacked on the strange substance the path was crafted from. A few moments later, West stepped back out into the open. It was warmer here. He hadn't been as cold as some of the other snots, but it was still a nice change.

Spotting some boils and ghouls he had never seen before, West snickered, shouting, "'nyone dead yet?" Once he had gotten closer, he realized what they were all doing. "Makin' introductions'eh? 'M West." His toothy grin wasn't the sanest grin in the world, but hey, at least he was happy.

Raziel watched as three other students came up to where he and Barth stood. He hoped there wouldn't be too many. They would need a lot of power to defeat whatever stood in their way, but Raziel was not sure how many people he could take. His previous lot was not very good...

"Hello Basil, I'm Raziel, I guess you can walk with with us," Raziel replied to the reaper ghoul. Before long her friend caught up to them as well. She said something, but Raziel could not be certain whether it was hello in another language or a name. Instead of asking, he found it more polite to just nod.

The third student to walk onto the lane was a rather tall boil carrying a HUGE GUN. Raziel decided right then and there, that was someone he needed to make friends with fast. "Hey West, my name's Raziel."

Barth turned. Oh. West. Wrath demon. Admittedly, if any more of his fellow Avaricers were going to be around in a battle scenario, that was the sort he preferred.

There were another two with them, one of which looked like they might have caught a case of Joy. He hoped it wasn't contagious.

"Never liked running, myself. Hello, West."

The jingling of Colette's bell inside her bag and the clicking of her heels against the path were no where near soft and quiet as she ran to catch up to Barth. She was at least happy to finally be on Candycane Lane, even if ninjaing around was impossible. It was quiet, which she liked, and warmer and faster, which were also bonuses in her book.

She didn't want to be alone on the lane if she didn't have to be, and he shouldn't be too far ahead, so she shouted his name in hopes of getting some sort of reply, "BAAARTH, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTH!"

Though it was all pointless really, the road was straight and he soon came into view, and Colette's face drooped into a disappointed frown. There was already someone with him. A lot of someones.

Ugh.. damn it, she thought while slowing down her pace. Colette wasn't hoping for a group. Groups were always slower. She almost considered sneaking around, but it was a futile idea. She had been screaming his name a second ago and the bell she had grabbed wouldn't make it any easier. Plus it was a straight path, you'd have to be blind to not see her.

Before she knew it, she was right at their group. She tried putting on a nice smile before greeting them, "Uh.. hello there," but her uncertain tone probably didn't make her sound very happy.

"Nice to meet yea Raziel." Basil nodded her hello. She turned to see the newest person, a boil named West with an odd grin. "Hi, I'm Basil, and this is Jamais" she motioned to her ghoul friend.

She slightly frowned at the slouching boil "But running is fun, and you get places faster too." Basil never liked introductions, and he was quickly getting bored with this. and now someone new came up. "Hi there." she tried smiling, but the big and growing group was throwing her off, three or four people are nice, but this is just getting insane.

"Hey Raziel. And Barth, yeah. Hi." He squinted and tilted his head a bit like a confused dog. Now that the sloth demon had spoken, a vague miniature lightning bolt of recognition flickered through the wrath demon's brain. He knew this kid. Vaguely. Or at least he'd heard of him. Maybe. Whatever.

"Raz'el, Barth, Basil, J'mais, 'n Screamy. Right. Lessgo." He was itching to get a move on and he would carry them all if he had to.

"Colette," Barth said, admittedly a little surprised. But he and Colette had been (loosely) traveling buddies since the beginning, and he was glad to see the smart and sensible reaper again.

Especially after she'd decimated that tree in one fell swoop.

Noisy and strong companions. So good so far. He'd be trucking along sluggishly and inconspicuously, thanks.

"Didn't think you'd- err, but it's good to have you along," he said, actually meaning it. He yawned again, moving forward in response to Wes, admittedly not very quickly.

"Going."
