Green paws moved across the ground, on the path of a new scent. Matojo-a Maji, storyteller and historian extraordinaire, was on the path of a new story while her mate rested for the day. They'd spent the night before exploring, and while HE was exhausted, Maji was ever curious and having a bout of restless paws. She'd likely go curl up by him once her curiosity was sated. But for the moment...
She smelled a lion! One she didn't know, and she'd never smelled on Chani before! So...perhaps whoever it was had a story she'd not heard yet!
Jukwa'lililokuwa was indeed in the area. The female was quite bored. She'd recently finished off a quite lovely kill, and now was simply laying atop a rock, a rather warm one. With her pretty black eyes scanning the area, she noted a strange character moving her way towards her. Tail flicking, the Lioness purred slightly. A new face was always welcome. Bouncing off the rock, she paced, waiting.
Maji perked when she noticed the lioness actually waiting for her. Oh! This was bound to be exciting! The adolescent cheetah quickened her pace, so as to not keep the other waiting too long. And when she drew close, she stopped and bowed.
"Good day, ma'am! Fine weather, isn't it?" Ooooo...she couldn't wait to find out what sort of story this lioness had!
A Cheetah. No more than a teen. This was something new to young Jukwa, honestly. She'd met lions before, sure, but never a young cheetah. "Indeed. The weather's been very nice today. What's a young thing like you doing out here? I am Jukwa'lililokuwa. And you are?" The adult femme smiled sweetly, ear twitching slightly.
Maji smiled brightly. "I am Matojo-a Maji. And I'm traveling with my mate. As for why I'm over here without him...I scented an unfamiliar creature, and thought I might see what sort of story he or she might have. I collect stories, you see." She giggled lightly. "A pleasure to meet you, Jukwa'lililokuwa! Might you be willing to share a story with me?"
"Matojo-a Maji." She repeated, curiously. Her tail flickered, watching her, "Stories huh. You like collecting them." Jukwa thought for a moment, wandering through her many adventures, "Well....what sorts of stories do you want to hear, dear one. I have plenty. Believe me, I've seen and done things from one end of the savannah to the other....I've met many people, fallen in and out of flings....I'm not sure which story you'd want to hear."
Maji smiled. "I like all sorts of stories. It makes no sense to favor one type over another, when they're all so wonderful and full of feeling." Her tail flickered lazily behind her. "Perhaps you could tell me of one of your latest adventures or encounters?"
She smiled wryly, "I recently traveled kind of far out, trying to find something to do, almost to the mountains..." She began to tell a long story about the adventures she'd had, the beautiful snow, the strange creatures. It was amazing, thinking about it again, the thrill of having met with the unknown. She hoped this young one was enjoying the tale as well, since it was one of her favourites.
The cheetah listened intently, letting every detail sink into her mind for remembrance. Oh...it was a wonderful story indeed. She vaguely wondered what this 'snow' was like, and decided she would convince Chani to go with her to find out. It sounded wonderful, that was for certain!
Slowly taking a breath, a sigh, Jukwa smiled, "And that's part of my story." Black eyes seemed distant, thoughtful, and she lay her head on her paws, thinking about it again. It was such a while back...so nice.
Maji nodded, smiling. "It was a wonderful story." She giggled. "I think I'm going to venture somewhere with my mate where I can see this 'snow'. It sounds like a very lovely thing."
Jukwa smiled brightly, "It is. I adore the snow, and even more the mountains. You and your mate would love it, dear one." She lay back down again, looking up at the stars, "It's a beautiful thing, because you can see stars so clearly, when there isn't clouds to obscure it."
Maji looked up to the sky, imagining such a sight. It would be glorious, to see such a thing with her beloved. And to share it with any others he gathered to himself. She looked back to Jukwa. "I think I shall suggest going to the mountains for a bit. Thank you, Jukwa. You have given me a wonderful story to carry in my memories."
She smiled kindly at the other, "Of course. I do hope we meet again sometime soon, Maji. It was nice getting to just talk to someone for a while." She really didn't get to do that much....not at all.
Maji nodded brightly. "Of course. Perhaps our paths will cross again, and then I can tell you a story in return for your company." She stood again, and turned back to return to Chaninah. "I wish you good company and clear skies on your journeys!"
Chuckling lightly at the other's words, Jukwa bowed her head to Maji, her eyes alight. "I do hope for the clear skies. Company seems to have been good so far, and I thank you for your well wishes. I do hope our paths cross once more, Maji, for you are one of the most fascinating females I've ever met, and some of the best company I believe I've ever kept." Tail flicking, Jukwa's eyes trained to the skies. It looked like a storm was coming in. That would be bad, if that came in whilst she was traveling, for it was hard to find shelter. Her stomach rumbled, and the lioness purred. Time to go find food. With that, the pale female trotted off towards a new destination, to see just what would come next. Black eyes were alight, and her hopes were high, for the future.
