In the meadows, snow had fallen and blanketed the entire pastures. Without a doubt, the tiny female had known that winter had fallen into a cold, peaceful silence about her. She didn't mind really, about the snow, she could still walk in it - and it only came up to her shoulders. The thing that she particularly disliked was the silence. She had, had enough of that as it was. Since birth, the female hadn't spoken to another, just even thinking about it gave her a chill - not from the cold, but from the thought.

With effort, the Usdia pushed onward, making weird makings in the snow. It would be nice, she thought, if she could just have someone to talk to.

As the little femme rounded the base of a tree and plopped down - she blushed. Or love. It would be wonderful if she found love. But when would that happen? Sure, she was nice and caring and would protect the one she loves with her life - but she was also quiet, and meek, and shy.

With the green of her hair, as a splash of color against the perfectly white snow, she leaned against the coarse brown bark of the tree and drifted off.

Windsor landed in the meadow, snow muffling the sound of her hooves as she returned to the earth. It didn't muffle her slight sneeze though. Windsor was not a terribly big fan of the cold. She wasn't a draft horse or a warhorse, she didn't have a terribly long mane or tail to keep her warm either, so her main source of warmth was her wings.

But after flying on chilly breezes, they weren't that warm either. Tucking them tightly against her body after shaking the snow from them, she stepped through the frozen covering, heading absently for the trees in the hope that they would be warmer.

On the way there, however, she spotted a flash of green on the snow. Peering closer, she realised it was another soquili. Windsor was not usually a fast mover, but this was important - one should not fall asleep in the snow. It was dangerous. Trotting over, she leaned her larger head down, nosing at the other female softly, on the cheek politely.

"Excuse me, fair lady, but you should not sleep in the snow."

Yellow green eyes burst open, startled, and peered up at new-comer. Large, that was the first thing she'd noticed. She hadn't really seen any other soquili up close before so she had never really known that they were so large. Chelinka also noted that there was some difference between the two of them - they had to be two different subspecies.

A chill spread through here. She hadn't even noticed that she'd gotten so cold. Chelinka lifted herself to her legs and shook. "Thank you for waking me," She blushed from embarrassment of her stupidity, "...I fear that if I stayed there I might have died"

Her eyes wandered over the female. There was a were air about her, something elegant and gentlemanly - which she seemed was a bit unusual for a femme. Her mane and tail were short, but they looked soft. The female's wings also seemed unusually big, but they too fit her well. The stranger was gorgeous.

Bowing low, the green usdia spoke "My name is Chelinka"

Windsor stepped back slightly, both allowing the other to stand up and dipping her head to acknowledge her appreciation of the thanks. However, she moved closer again quickly, unfurling a single wing and kneeling down, wrapping it delicately around the smaller horse.

"My apologies sincerely for this intrusion of you privacy, my lady, but I think this would be the fastest way to get you warm and make sure you do not fall ill - that would be a terrible travesty, would it not? A fair femme such as you, Chelinka, should not fall ill."

Windsor smiled softly, allowing herself to look at the other mare. She was stunning. Her form was small, but perfectly formed, delicate limbs offset a wonderful coat...and her eyes were stunning. But Windsor chided herself silently.

It is not proper. You have probably startled poor Chelinka enough.

Her eyes widened once more as the wing fell over her frame. A blush crept over her cheeks a threatened to alight her whole face. "W-Well thank you again" She stuttered. Who knew soquili were so kind? She been afraid to converse with them until now, but perhaps she shouldn't have been so afraid. "But I don't know about fair. I've seen far lovelier than me" She'd caught her reflection in the pond a couple of times when the surface was still and never saw anything particularly amazing about it - just a lot of green and peach.

She smiled shyly and beamed up at the mare, "Now, your form, that is something which is truly resplendent" Thinking nothing of her compliment, but the truth, she continued on, "But what is so a graceful being doing out in the cold? I'd think with your short mane and tail, you'd be freezing."

Chelinka looked hard at the mare, chiding her was something she had no right to do - but because of her personality she felt she needed to protect those she didn't even know very well, "That reminds me, you never mentioned your name."

Windsor almost blushed. But a gentlewoman should not be affected....even if the one complimenting you was beautiful. Turning her head slightly, she spoke.

"My name is Windsor, my apologies for not saying this earlier. As for your question, my wings are my main source of warmth, and I have a cave a little way from here where I have a stash of hay and straw."

It was then that it occured to Windsor the perfect solution to keeping this fair maiden warm....and seeing her again.

"If you like, I'm sure I could seperate some of the pile for you. It would be a solution I think, at least until this weather blows out. "

Chelinka clicked her tongue and rolled the name out of her mouth, "Windsor..." She smiled up at the mare, "I like that name, it fits you. Well, what I've seen of you." The little mare kept her eyes and ears alert, soaking up everything that Windsor told her. "A pile of my own? H-how sweet. Yes, yes, thank you. I think i'll take you up on your off, Windsor." Chelinka nodded to the mare, her bob of a mare bouncing along with her head - tossing off bits of light in the winter sun, "Where did you say this cave was? I hope it's not far, with all this snow it's hard for me to get around. Unfortunately."

Windsor blinked when Chelinka tossed her mane, the snow crystals flying out and catching the light. She swallowed, thankfully inaudibly. It wasn't that Windsor wasn't aware she was attracted to mares. She knew she liked them. The graceful arch of a neck, the smooth curve of a spine, the slight fluffing of delicate fetlocks and gentle smiles. But she'd never really had a chance to terribly flirt with one before, and something about Chelinka was terribly beautiful. Perhaps it was the fact that she had been in danger; there was something very thrilling about saving people. Or perhaps she was simply beautiful.

Windsor shook her head lightly, shaking herself from her reverie. This was entirely inappropriate. For all she knew, Chelinka was like the majority of mares; straight. She would settle for companionship. (and perhaps a few glances). (Okay, maybe more than a few.) (Maybe a lot.) She smiled again and spoke.

"It's not too far. If you see where the trees begin you'll notice that mountanious overhang. My cave is located there, protected by brambles that prevent large soquili or those without wings entering. Thankfully your pe-petite size means you can enter without trouble."

Windsor, watch your muzzle. You almost said perfect.
