What do you mean you can't shop in that store?

So I have a friend/co-worker, and she's always talking about the trendy stores she shops in, which is absolutely fine, I love talking about clothes.

But something like the following happens quite a bit. I was going to a suit store in a strip mall with my boyfriend and a few guy friends, and I said while they were looking at suits I would shop for myself.

"Ohhhhh, where are you going to go? Pseudio? Urban Planet?"

Which makes me bloody uncomfortable because I've never been in those stores because I'm 99% sure that nothing will fit me.

So I finally just told her. "You know, I'm on the edge of straight sizes and those stores don't go up to my size. Sometimes I can find something in stores like that, there was one shirt in Bootlegger that fit me."

And then today I was wearing the awesome shirt I got from Reitmans and I told her where I got it from.

I'm was just really sick of her not cluing in. xd

Oh I hear ya. And donèt worry, I'm Canadian so I know the stores you're talking about.

I generally go to walmart's plus size section, torrid.com, addition elle 14+, penningtons, etc for my clothes. I know I can buy clothes from torrid that are freaking hot like corsets and stuff that skinner girls wear and it still looks good on a girl my size.

I know exactly how you feel.
I was at the Good Will (I like to look at the dresses there x"D plus, I was looking for something cheap and green) and I found these really cute dresses. I kinda got upset because they were all sizes that wouldn't fit me.
I usually shop at either Kmart or Walmart in the plus size areas although I'm really picky with my clothes. I hate blouses. Love T-shirts. The plus size area at my walmart very rarely has t-shirts there >.<

I tried pants shopping at the mall before. Not one of my better ideas because where I was living, all the stores decided to cut off at size 10.

It sucks trying to fit into things only to realize either the brand sized it smaller or it just BARELY doesn't fit...

I finally did find something that fit me, but there was only ONE store that had anything... its irritating.

See, there are quite a few stores like that in the US. Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, etc. My friends go in and are like "OMG THESE ARE SO CUTE" and I'm like "um....so...I can buy jewelry."

I usually avoid shopping at those stores. I've even had someone look at me and go "We don't sell your size." scream

Haha I know what you mean!
I usually shop at Torrids or Lane Bryant.
For accessories and other little tid-bits I go to main stream stores.
However if I go into a store that I have never been in before I walk in and just ask the clerk, "Do you fit this?" and gesture to my whole body. LOL!

I have a friend that I think is trying to fit me into clothes I cannot really fit (they grab all the wrong places and are semi-tight)
and that makes me feel awkward.

The last time I went clothes shopping, I went to Fashion Bug and Avenue. Avenue in particular had a lot of cute tops this summer. I like Lane Bryant a lot too, except that their prices tend to be higher. I try to stick to the clearance rack there. xd

I'm lucky in that I have an older sister who loves to shop and is also fat, so we usually go together and have fun picking stuff out for each other and critiquing our choices.

As a teenager, I hated going with my friends because they loved the Gap and Banana Republic, so I'd either have to wait outside for them or walk awkwardly around the store while they looked and tried things on. They usually wouldn't extend me the same courtesy if I wanted to pop into a store that carried my size. stare

I remember once for Christmas, I actually went into a Gap by myself to get them gift cards, and one of the clerks looked at me with this s**t-eating grin. I think she was going to say something about how the store didn't carry my size before I asked for giftcards. She was all too happy to sell me giftcards, but the look on her face made me feel like a fool.

That's awesome. I'm going to remember this the next time I check out a new store.
