Nathan Darrow was in a slump.

He wasn't sure what he wanted to do. His paintball gun kept jamming because of the cold, and that made it frustrating to go out and have any of his usual fun. The paint, too, was getting strange qualities to it because of the cold, and it didn't do what he wanted it to do.

While messing with people at the mall or shops was fun, it got old as well. He liked to put or take things into people's shopping carts while they weren't watching, and mess them up at the cashiers, though that involved a lot of lurking and waiting and sometimes it didn't pay off, when they didn't notice or they were pretty calm about it.

He was leaning on a building, wondering how to fill his time. He would be damned if he took a job, as Tony suggested, quite often in fact. He breathed out a cloud of smoke, cigarette in his fingers.

He would just have to go old school. Find someone to hassle, and see if he could pick a fight, or make them cry. Be a bully. He was in a bad enough mood for it, after all.

Chase knew how to stir up trouble but trouble always seemed to find him when he wasn't looking for it. There he was, decked in his Azure uniform, tossing a golf ball in the air as he slung a golf club over his shoulder. He was up to one of his favorite antics, creating his own golf course and he stopped, in the middle of the street, to set the ball down in the snow.

"Betcha I can make it into the crevices between those trash cans without hitting that kid standing against the wall," he told his companions who then loudly proclaimed that he would not be able to. "Please guys, I've been doing this for years," he waved them off even though he knew the odds of him successfully completing the shot were slim. His choice in his third hole was a poor one too, if only because the street was bustling with people who had to go to work, or were leaving work thus making it that much easier to be caught and get him in that much more trouble.

Not that he cared, part of the fun was the risk.

His boys crowded around him, with enough space for his golf club to go through it's wide ark but prevented people from getting around them. He swung his club and watched the ball fly towards Nate. "Shi-" he cut himself off waiting to see if he would, in fact, it the other boy.

His boys had already run off.

Nate was in the middle of a long drag on his cigarette when he saw the golf ball flying toward him. He didn't have much time to dodge, and he wished he was in his senshi form just so he would be able to get out of the way in time. Instead, he got hit in the stomach with an 'oomph'.

He doubled up, hands on his hips, cigarette on the floor, but he looked up quickly to spot who had the balls to throw something at him.

Or rather hit it.

Grabbing the golf ball and fist full of snow, he charged toward the boy who had hit it. He didn't have time for questions or trading insults: he was already in a bad mood, so he skipped some of the build up steps. Instead, he was going right to 'fight'.

"This yours?!" he yelled when he was close enough, throwing the snow golf ball at the boy.

Haha. Oops.

Chase was well aware that whomever he had hit would be upset with him but he hadn't expected such an angry teen. He grinned impishly up at the boy, placing the base of his club in the snow and leaning lightly on the top of it. "Yeah, probably shoulda yelled fore though," he told him with a shake of his head. "Didn't mean to hit you," he pressed his lips together and nodded his head.

Chase was sorry about hitting him, but not enough to formerly apologize. In his opinion it happened and he was just thankful that it hadn't been a cop this time. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to talk his way out of a ticket again.

As Nate threw the snow ball at him his hand shot out to catch it, except he missed and it hit his chest knocking him off balance. His hand reached about as he stumbled grabbing the snowy golf ball in his hand.

"Y'know, you should play, it's fun," he grinned.

Nate felt rather relieved when he hit the boy with the golf-snow ball, his anger at the incident and from before ebbing a bit. Ah, physical violence: always something he liked to resort to in an effort to calm himself.

That didn't mean he was in a good mood, of course.

"Maybe you didn't mean to, but you still did. But whatever. I did mean to hit you, and I did, so I guess that evens things out. Unless I decide it doesn't later." He shrugged, eying the boy. Who would be playing golf in the middle of the street, anyway? Unless they were just causing trouble and being stupid on purpose.

Which Nathan liked to do, and was thus interested.

"What are you playing, anyway? This isn't a golf course." He folded his arms over his chest, not because he was cold, but because he wanted to look tough rather than interested. It was better to stick to his guns of being pissed off, after all. Even if he did see an opportunity to have fun now, and he didn't have it in him to miss those.

"Eh," Chase shrugged seemingly unconcerned. "It happens," he was grinning again as he stuffed a hand in a pocket having regained his balance. "I call it the Ace of Spades," he responded leaning on the golf club once again. "Ace because that would be my nickname, or my golfing name whatever you prefer, and spades because it's kinda like card games. There's a million ways to play," he looked around them before standing upright, pulling his club from the snow and walking towards the boy.

"Walk with me," he said starting forward. "See, Ace of Spades doesn't need a golf course because the world is it's golf course. It's a game that can be played anywhere at any time as long as you have club and a ball," he began to explain only pausing to look back and Nate to see if he was following.

"I make my own golf courses with my own rules, I play whenever and where ever I feel like it," he stated looking up at the sky. "It's similar to a normal game of golf but with a different golf course. There's still aces and deuces and all sorts of things but it's subjective really."

"Ace of spades, huh?"

He considered the name, nodding his head slowly. He supposed it wasn't the dumbest thing the game could have been called. It did remind him of a card game. And show he had seen on a food channel once, on accident, because he totally hadn't been watching it of his own free will.

"Alright, so, besides hitting me with golf balls, what other kind of shots can you make? Are you a good shot? I mean, if you were aiming for me then I'd guess you are, but if you weren't aiming for me, then you suck. So...?"

He grinned though, nodding his head at the golf club, wanting the other to make one of his shots and show Nate how to play, first hand. Any excuse to break things, as he imagined would be happening shortly.

When did anyone play golf for anything but property damage? It was boring, otherwise.

"I don't know anything about golf beyond hitting the ball into a hole," he said, with a shrug, "but show me, and I'll see if I can't catch up on the rules."

Chase shrugged, sticking his hands in his pockets, grinning up at the boy as he contemplated the name of the game. It wasn't unusual for people to not...understand or even like the name but the teen never seemed to care because he had no plans on changing the name. There was always a hidden meaning behind things like that, at least if Chase had anything to do with it.

His grin change from a simple "well you know" grin to an "oh you haven't seen anything" grin. "Well it isn't called the Ace of Spades for anything," he replied using his golf club to point at another space between a sign and a wall. "This ball will hit the wall and ricochet just enough to pop through that 'hole'," he stated cleaning a space in the snow and dropping the golf ball down, watching as it bounced up a bit before dropping and rolling to a stop.

He bent over rolling it back into the center, steadying it until it no longer rolled. "Watch," he stated stepping away from the boy as he positioned himself, measured his distance before swinging his club. He followed his swing through and watched as the ball soared through the air, nicked the wall and popped into the whole just like he said it would. However it landed in this lady's drink and she did not seem to happy about it.

"Aced!" He cheered ignoring the glare from the unhappy lady. "Not every shot is a good one though, like my last one. But it's not too hard, I can catch you up pretty well." He pulled another ball from his pocket and held it out to Nate. "Basically you want to get the ball in the 'hole' with the fewest shots possible, the one with the least amount of points wins. Here instead of having set holes we chose them."

Nate watched him critically. Of course, by now he didn't think the kid would be able to make the shot he was gloating about and setting up because, simply, he hadn't made the last one. Or so Nate wanted to believe, since he had decided that it had been an accident. But that accident made Nate think Chase was a bad shot.

Of course, a bad shot wouldn't have made this kind of game, would they? Maybe it had just been a bad one, a one off thing. Nate didn't really care that much, one way or the other, and opted to just watch the shot and see how it went.

When he did see, he nodded his head in approval.

"Ha, okay, that looks good. That looks fun, in fact. That lady certainly looks like she enjoyed it." He waved at her, offering her a big grin, just for good measure. She didn't look happy with that, either. "Alright, I want to play."

He grinned, holding his hand out for the club. He would try that same shot. Of course, his aim was... not quite as practiced.

Chase's triumphant look only brightened as Nate nodded his head in approval. It always made him grin whenever he showed someone just how capable he was, even if they really knew nothing of golf. Golfing was a skill that he had perfected (almost) both on an actual course and of his own courses. He had yet to be beaten at his own game, if only because he gave his competitors near-impossible shots and more easy, yet seemingly complicated, ones for himself. It was his game, how were they to know if they were being cheated or not?

Either way Chase always came out on top.

"They always do," he replied easily as he handed the club over to the older boy. He grinned and waved cheekily at the lady as if he had completely shot his golf ball in her drink on purpose.

"Have you played golf before?" He asked holding his arms behind his head, prepared to watch the other boy try and make the same shot.

Nate took the golf club, holding it out as if testing its weight like one might do a sword before a duel. Not that he knew the first thing about good clubs or bad clubs. Or good swords and bad swords, for that matter. But it was all for show, anyway, so it didn't matter.

Nathan laughed, as he imagined he had looked rather annoyed when he had been hit so he couldn't really blame the woman for looking so angry about her drink. Still, their grinning at her probably wasn't helping her mood. As she made to storm off, Nate lined up a shot.

"Nah, golf looks like a game for sissy's who can't play real sports. Not that I like real sports either, but at least they take muscles. Give me a paint ball gun anyday."

He smacked the ball hard with the club, watching it as it sailed in the general direction it was supposed to go, though it ended up striking someone hard in the back, rather than hitting anywhere near the shot they had agreed on.

"s**t!" he laughed, forcing the club back into Chase's hands before he turned to try and run. The person who got hit, a burly looking man, turned to spy the two kids.

He didn't look happy, either.

"Well unlike some sports golf takes more than strength and brute force in order to win. It's a great game for someone who likes strategy and skill," Chase shrugged, sounding bored as though he had been through this conversation one to many times. "To each their own," he waved a hand to end that particular topic. He always hated arguing with someone about it. "Though my game is much better than regular golf."

When Nate's shot went horribly wrong, though he hadn't expected anything less, he was caught off guard when the boy shoved the golf club back at him. Of course his poor shot had to hit a brute looking man who started towards them.

At first Chase just smiled widely and waved a hand at the man casually like they had meant to do that and that they would smooth things over and apologize. Nate however ruined this when he took off running. Chase sighed but followed suit still grinning. "Sorry!" he yelled taking off. Not that he was actually sorry.

Chase caught up to Nate fairly easily and said, "follow me."

"You're missing the point of sports if you want to avoid brute strength and force, I think," Nate called, thinking now was a great time to bring the topic back up, shaking his head stubbornly as he ran . He was not going to be convinced that golf was a sport, not because the arguments were bad, but because he had already decided it wasn't, and that was that.

He was gloating silently as he looked back to see if the boy was coming with him. He hadn't won anything, of course, but that didn't matter to him. At least he was ahead, and not the one closer to the angry man chasing after them.

When Chase caught up, though, Nate looked at him and squinted thoughtfully, wondering where the other might make him follow.

"Lead the way," he dared, still laughing. The man was still running after them, though he had little chance to catch up to two spry teenagers. Nate, at the very least, was well used to running away from situations like this, and wasn't worried in the slightest. This was fun.

Inwardly Chase sighed as Nate brought the subject if golf should really be considered a sport up again. He hated this topic but he figured he would humor the other teen. "Brute strength and force won't get you through life, that would make you a bully, or worse a criminal," he replied as they raced down the street before he ducked into an alley on his left.

It appeared that Chase was very familiar with the area as he skillfully maneuvered from street to street before turning into another alley that appeared to be a dead end. A wall blocked their way with a large dumpster pressed up against the concrete.

A devilish grin graced his lips as he ran straight up to the dumpster, his palm pressing against the lid as he jumped up onto the closed lid using it as a boost for another jump (he couldn't stand on it too long or it could cave in) to jump to the top of the wall. He stood, back to Nate, on the thin surface of the wall turning his head back to the other boy.

"You coming?" he asked with a laugh. He'd definitely done this before or it wouldn't have been so easy for him.

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with being either of those, if you do it right!" Nate laughed.

He followed after the other boy, looking around the area as they ran through it. He grinned at the move, nodding his head, impressed, before he followed after Chase and echoed his move. At least he was confident in himself, even more so ever since becoming a Senshi, and he didn't pull back or balk as he leaped onto the dumpster and at the wall. He scrambled to the top, purposefully nudging Chase's leg on the way up.

"Yeah, yeah," Nate said, having more trouble with the jump as he wanted to do.

He looked at Chase, then back down where they had come. He wasn't sure if that angry man was still hunting them, but it wasn't really the issue now. "Where are we going?"
