THE HINTERLANDS

BEFORE YOU POST

Before you post here, check the last post in your train car or in the Infirmary to see if your character made it though the train crash! If they're listed as a patient or casualty, then they're stuck in the Infirmary for the remainder of the event.

As the students extricate themselves from the smoking wreckage, they wander around for a bit, admiring the trees. What the hell were they doing here? Was this really their destination? Slowly but surely, they began to gather around a large painted tree, where they're greeted by the sight of Professor Hellma Shox, who had been missing these several weeks prior. She frowned fiercely as she took in their numbers, clothes, smells, and attitudes. By this they could that she was moderately pleased to see them. Probably.

"Wondering what's going on here, are you?" She begins to circle and pace before them, her shadow conspicuously missing. "Well." She comes to a stop beside a large, unfamiliar map, and whips out a long pointer to tap at it. "I imagine there is a great many questions that will be scurrying about your vacant little heads..."

With this she clears her throat and gets down to business.

"What’s this? What’s this?" She taps the map quickly, "There’s strange trees everywhere!
And what’s this? There’s white things in the air!" She turns back to the crowd and snarls, "IT'S CALL SNOW AND IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, THEN YOU'RE AN IDIOT!" Quickening her pace, the professor's voice soon begins a sort of sneering sing-song.

"What’s this? You can’t believe your eyes, you must be dreaming!
Wake up Snots, this isn’t a game!
What’s this?
What’s this? What’s this? This place is so very wrong!
What’s this? There’s all these JOYful songs.
What’s this? The paths are lined with little creatures,
Everybody seems so happy
Have you even seen anything so sappy?!
What is this?
What’s this?
There’s children throwing snowballs, instead of throwing heads
They’re busy building toys and absolutely no one’s dead.

(THE RACISTS!)
There’s love and peace in every window
Oh, but don't believe your eyes!
And in your bones you'll feel the warmth that’s coming from inside
Oh, look! What’s this? They’re mounting their defenses!
They hit? They miss? That's up to you!

(TRY NOT TO DIE. OFTEN.)
Inspired? Then gather round to hear a story
Of a world of JOY burning in a FEARsome fire.
What’s this?
What’s this, in here? They’ve got a little tree.
How droll. Be sure to kick it when it's down.
And now? A great furry beast attacks you tiny little things,
But fight it anyways, because it's a FIGHT that we bring!
And there’s a smile on everyone, but don't trust them a moment long!
And don't go down this run! Never travel this one!
Oh, and here's some toys with a wish.
What’s this?
And then. What then? There's elves and things,
But look! Behind them is our goal!
There’s nothing stopping you!
You're ghouls and witches here to scream and scare them or ensnare them
These little cozy things secure inside their dreamland…
Aaah…
What’s this?!
The monsters are all frisking and the nightmares they do abound!
And in this place, screams will replace the good feeling all around.
The shouts of this battle will ring like music in the air,
The smell of eminent victory is absolutely everywhere.
The sights! The sounds! They’re everywhere and all around
You've never felt such JOY before,
So get in there snots! And make your way! Reach that goal!
I want it, oh, I want it, oh, I want it for my own!
You've got it now, you've got it down, what this place is that we have found.
WHAT IS THIS?

A RAID ON CHRISTMAS TOWN! FEH!

By the end of it the Headmistress looked rabid with a terrible, manic energy. It took a few moments for her to gather her composure. "...in short. Go in. Fight things. Come back with what is found here," she tapped the building marked Goal, "...and bring it back to me." With that, her form warped, wobbled, and flattened, growing ever darker until everyone realized that it had been her shadow all along. A gnome cleared his throat, and began explaining. His voice was wonderfully flat, and completely lacking in song. Several students sigh in relief.

"Through yonder tree is another world. It's called Christmas, and I find it entirely unpleasant. You will start in the festive forest, and from there you will find three paths. Do not take this path!" A gesture to the striped center route, "CandyCane Lane is a deathtrap for our kind and only the truly strong may take it. Both the Northern and Southern routes are longer, but safer. You may seem some faces there that look like family members or sommat, but attack them all the same. Even if a creature seems friendly, their friendship tends to be pretty painful. You see, Christmas is made up of JOY. Which make FEAR go all wonky-like, you follow? Alright then. Anyways, in the end, all three paths meet up at ChristmasTown. It's full of elves," and here the gnome turned and spat in disgust, "and other such things. The big goal is Sandy Claws' workshop, here at the end. That's the payload we're after."

He walks over to a pile of backpacks, "Since FEAR and JOY are pretty unmixy, we're gonna outfit you snots with some useful equipments and weaponry for this little ah, adventure you'll be on. Your FEAR attacks and natural abilities won't be accessible, and the shifters among you may find themselves in a bit of a pickle. So you'll have rely on your guts, your fists, annndddd...." he opens a bag to reveal an odd, gleaming array of, "...weapons! We got a few people on the inside, and they were able to get up some JOY imbued weaponry for some nice hard hits. They're a bit brittle at the moment, so you can only use them once in battle. Use them more than that, and they'll break. And we don't replace the broken weapons of jack-damned-idiots! We clear?"

He now steps over to a piece of fabric and some poles, "This here is your tent. If you want to take a breather just set this up and take your rest. It's got some nice invisibility charms on it, so nothing should be attacking you while you're inside of it."

Now, outside of Halloween, we don't have a steady supply of FEAR to heal our hurts quickly and whatnot. There may come a time when your health is dangerously low, for that you'll have two pumpkin pills in your pack. DO NOT LOSE THESE. These will raise your health back up to maximum. If you wait too long to take it and an enemy KO's you, you'll dissipate into your idiot fool FEAR particles and reform on this side of the entry. You can still renew your health with a pill, but you'll be starting back at the beginning as well."

The gnome scratched his nose and then issued a sharp salute, "Seize the Holiday, snots, and come back victorious! Now grab your equipment and move on out!"

Quote:
The OOC: Amityville students are raiding Christmas! Their goal is Sandy Claws' workshop, but to get there, they'll have to pass through several battle zones and the jolly enemies they'll find throughout.

Christmas is made of JOY. This means several things for students of Halloween:
- they cannot use their FEAR or natural abilities
- the skull pins can no longer control student forms. Shifter students are either stuck in humanoid form, in their natural form, or fluctuating uncontrollably between the two. Pick one of these three options and stick with it.
- everyone has 25HP, those who have taken a battle class will find themselves feeling a bit weaker due to this.
- they do not automatically heal after battle, HP will be steadily going down with each battle.

Each Battle Zone takes a certain amount of time to cross:
- students need to cross each zone in sequence Z1 > Z2a, Z2b, Z2c > Z3 > SANTA'S WORKSHOP
- be sure to READ the first post of each zone when entering it, so that you can double check it's OOC crossing time, as they will vary.
- to "cross" a zone you only need two posts, one to "enter" and after the given amount of OOC time, one to "exit" - the student may then "enter" the next zone.
- you are welcome and encouraged to RP in the zone beyond those two posts, though. Actively RPing means that your student has a greater chance of getting to battle, which means more chances to get loot.
- if your student is attacked by a monster and fails to respond within 24hrs, they'll be zoned back to the beginning.
- SO if you are going to be afk for awhile, please set up a "Tent" in your last post. This will prevent attacks, and getting zoned back to the start. It'll also help to make sure that battles are done quickly, enabling GMs to do more of them. If you set up a tent you obviously do not 'travel' at all, that means OOC traveling time stops for you.

Weapons:

Weapons are like FEAR attacks, only usable once per battle. (The exception being the Healing Bell. It has 5 uses overall, and can be used outside of battle) Pick one and stick with it. Your main, re-usable attack will be the standard: roll 2d6, subtract 6, and there's your damage. Going into the negative like a big loser will not cost you HP for the standard attack. Example battles will be posted in each zone thread for your reference.

Christmas Wreath -> A circle of green complete with lights. Throw onto the enemy. There's a lingering smell of burnt plastic in the air...
Roll 2 6-sided dice. If the first roll is even, you hit. If is odd, you miss. The second roll determines how much damage you did if you hit.

EXTREME SNOWBALL LAUNCHER 5000
Roll two 8-sided dice. The first dice is the amount of damage you deal to your opponent. The second dice is the unfortunate backlash done to you.

A Sack Full of Joy
Reach in and start bombarding your opponent with random trinkets. Roll 3 6-sided dice. Damage done is the AVERAGE of the numbers rolled. If the total is EVEN, you hit. If the total is ODD, you miss.

Yellow Snow
Do not eat.

---SUPPORT---
Tangled Christmas Lights
Chuck the ball of tangled lights at your opponent. Roll 1 6-sided dice. If odd you missed. If even, your opponent can't move for one turn.

Carol of the Bells
It's a bell. Ring it and restore someone's HP by rolling 2 6-sided dice. Usable five times.

If you have any ooc questions, just PM lizbot or ask in the QnA thread. Feel free to mingle in this thread for a bit. The zones will be open for posting and battles Weds afternoon/late morning, so peeps have plenty of time to go over the rules and limitations.

Maladore sounded like the kind of person Riley could seriously have a long, interesting conversation with. He even seemed to put his education at a high enough priority to rival Riley's. All in all, things were looking up for their continued friendship. They would have continued to do so, if not for a screaming voice announcing their arrival over the intercome. Riley barely had enough time to grab a hold of her seat and drop down into it before they were being flung forward in a crash stop. She felt the force of her body launching forward, and reached to the side to grab the first thing she could - which was a leg, but she couldn't even see whose. It was either West, or Jericho, because they were both near to her side and front, but she never got a chance to see whose leg had just saved her - because her head slammed into the seat in front of her, knocking her out cold.

Her blackout had only been for a few seconds, but when Riley came to, she had a splitting headache. For a mindflayer, that was saying something. She climbed out of her train car, only realizing once she was out that it was lying on it's side, and she'd just climbed out the window. Lovely.

A slow look around found her fellow students climbing out of their cars as well, looking all levels of disheveled. She barely noticed that they were in a forest, and clearly nowhere near their home of Halloweentown anymore.

Adventuretime.

She'd made her way to the gathering, and listened to the Headmistresses song. It was positively ghoulish - is that the kind of nonsense Mr. Blobby wanted? Maybe if she sang something like that, he'd give her that last Jack-be-damned school supply. Ugh.

She stood at attention and listened to the gnome much like a soldier would listen respectively to their commander. Gathering her weapon (the only logical choice being the EXTREME SNOWBALL LAUNCHER 5000 of course), her pills, and her tent, she briefly considered what road to go down. Maybe waiting to see what other students chose could help her make her decision.

Cyrilla watched with wide eyes as gnomes took her car companions away to their little makeshift camp. She still was trying to take in everything that had happened. First it had been the crazy deer and the loud fight between two of the other students. Then the one boy she was sitting with was ill, she remembered that clearly. They'd announced that the cars were going to crash.

From there it was kind of hazy. She seemed to recall being confused, and trying to get to Twitch who had been freaking out like the nervous rodent that he was. At that point she remembered... oh. That one boy with the skull had pushed her down, and had taken the brunt of the impact off her as she'd been standing. That caused a pit in her stomach that she took a moment to push aside.

The young dracolich continued to stand there as Helma spoke, the guilt welling up. Twitch, the boy with the dragon skull, and the boy who'd been ill (ugh she didn't even know their names, how terrible was that), were all out of sight at this point.

She hoped they'd be alright.

Turning away, she started eying the students who were making their way around, and she caught the remainder of what was going on. Tents? Weapons? She snapped up a sack full of joy, and confirmed she was not touching the yellow snow. Shaking her head something caught the corner of her eye. Something familiar. Her eyes darted towards the glimpse and she suddenly realized exactly why it was so familiar.

Merope was still working on his self-portrait when the warning went off. He glanced up in confusion before latching onto the seat, wrapping his tail as best as he could around him for added protection. It didn't help, though -- the train still flipped, and he was still sent flying around and around in the cabin until it stopped, allowing him to stagger out of the Krumm car, clutching his self portrait tightly.

Where...? What happened? The undead leviathan sat up slowly and rubbed his head, opening his eyes and hissing. What was this stuff they were in? It was white and he could grab it. He couldn't resist picking some up and forming it into a ball, a mischievous grin lighting up his face before Hellma called their attention.

Well that was... honestly not enlightening in his opinion. He lingered near the back of the crowd of students, the smell of smoke nearby causing him to perk up and sniff. What was that? And what was the hissing sound? It wasn't until he noticed his student pin was spitting sparks that the boy felt a sudden and uncomfortable change. It was as if a wall had been shattered -- where there was once an undead boy now stood an undead serpentine dragon, about eight feet from nose to tail. "Whoa!" He bellowed, scrambling back from himself in surprise and accidentally running over a gnome. "Oh man."

It didn't help that he heard a familiar voice. The half-skeletal face swung in Cyrilla's direction, lighting up with pleasant surprise. "Cyr!" He called, "There you are! Where've you been? And... uh. Can you grab a tent and that wad of bright shiny blinky light things for me? I kinda, uh, can't."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 2:56 am

Cyrilla watched as Merope transformed from his humanoid form and began to grow into his...

True... form? She squinted at it, tilted her head, then took a step back. "Uh... yeah I got it." she grabbed the boy a tent, a wreath and made her way over to the him.

"As for where I've been, I could ask you the same thing. I look away for all of two minutes, and you're gone! I spent a good two weeks trying to track you down Mer. Was starting to think something bigger ate you" When she got close enough, she reached up and jabbed at his nose with her finger.

"Speaking of something bigger, uh, since when did you downgrade?" she nodded towards his sparse, 8 foot length. The last she'd seen him, he was a good fourty feet. "Having trouble finding good parts?" the ghoul took Merope's tent and tied it to his back (not to mention, attaching her own), saving herself from having to carry it, followed by placing the wreath over his head, letting it hang around his neck.

"There."

Merope snorted, shaking his head. "Eat me? Come on! I'm big enough to eat things in the deep blue! Or -- ow!" He jerked his head back as she poked it, flattening his fins in agitation. "Fine, fine. I'll give you that. Size literally comes with the territory where I'm from," he replied, wiggling as the wreath slid down his neck. Hopefully it won't go off any time soon...

He slowly blinked and twisted his head around, peering at Cyr. "Now that you've mentioned it, you look reeeeeally tiny. Not that it's a bad thing bu- hey. Heeeey. Is that two tents?" He stared, looking from his back, to her, then to the tables. "By the way, did you get the pilly-things? I don't think I can hold onto those either, tiny-tiny. I can't help it if size literally comes with the territory where I'm from."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 15, 2010 3:21 am

"Yeah, I pocketed them when I was back there." she assured the boil before grinning as he commented on second tent that was being attached to him.

"Er, well. You see, you're right. I, uh, kind of appear to be stuck like this." she groaned a bit. To be quite frank, she'd attempted to switch as soon as she'd seen Merope go into his form. She lamented the fact that she would not get to parade around taller than him, for once.

Not for now.

"Hopefully it's temporary." she shrugged.

Her head nodded as she started to move off, "Didn't know that about your kind. Neat. Anyways, we better get a move on before we get in trouble."

Fanatical Friend

As if the train ride wasn't weird enough what with the dying gnome, the reindeer attack, the burnt food that She oddly enjoyed much to the disgust of Junko and possibly Sin, the fact that their car was unsupervised (Though most students would probably find that a blessing); now the train was crashing? Junko gasped and scrambled to put away her cookies, not caring if they got everywhere right now as she grasped onto the edge of her seat as the train crashed. She held on for dear life, refusing to open her eyes or let go of her seat for a good few minutes. She didn't want to die! She didn't want to die! She was too young to die! Eventually when all seemed to be alright she opened one eye and then the other, looking warily around for her friends. "Sin? Gabrian?" Finally she let go of her seat, standing up a bit. "Faint? Alcie? Are you guys alright?" She didn't see anybody from their car too terribly hurt so...it must not have been so bad? Junko didn't bother collecting her bag, she wasn't quite sure where it even was right now, instead curiously peeking out the window.

...What was that?

That tree! It...it was so...green! And there was snow everywhere, and...and...where were they? Junko climbed over the fallen luggage to hurriedly exit the train car, stumbling a bit in her excitement and kicking up a bit of snow. Gah! Coldcoldcoldcold! And here she was in a small skirt and kimono! In Junko's defense: She didn't know she'd be playing in snow today. She looked up in time to see Hellma and actually found herself glad to see the headmistress, finally someone who could make sense of all this! She listened to her song, snerking and pressing her fingers to her lips as she tried not to laugh. Hellma should have auditioned for Jack! Her song was hilarious! How could someone not know what snow was?

Wait, why were they attacking Christmas Town? Sure it was full of JOY but hadn't Sandy Claws and Jack been friends? Why would they suddenly attack an ally of the great Jack Skellington?! Junko looked at the weapons being offered to them, all worries dissipating when she saw one of their options was yellow snow. Yellow snow? Really? She made a slight face. What idiot was going to take that weapon? She collected her healing pills and then looked over the rest of the weapons. Which one did she want? Junko wasn't much of a fighter right now, and she was very thankful they were getting weapons if they had to fight at all since her hair was lifeless. The Mistress was still unhappy about that and Junko had to admit she was rather uncomfortable now the longer her hair stayed this way; she was so used to its liveliness.

The carol of the bells looked good...but then so did the sack of joy. But she could only have one, right? Hmmm...

At her plight, the sea serpent reached out to pat her. Or tried to -- his body was set too low to the ground to allow him to reach up, so instead he just made a sound that sounded like a gigantic pigeon's croooooon in sympathy. He attempted to, at least -- the sound kind of bubbled and gurgled, but it was the thought that counted, right?

"I think it might be? The school kinda put me through customs and waited for the lingering bits of my necromancer's Fear to wear off and for my natural Fear to kick in. Or something like that? The gnomes tossed around a lot of words when they were babbling to me." He shrugged, then added, "It feels pretty weird. I mean, yeah my pin was a bracelet, but..." He raised the limb it was on and shook it, "See? It's not doing anything. It feels kinda weird... especially this white stuff."

Merope lowered his nose and nudged the snow, jerking his head back and snorting as it went up his nose. "Pah!" Nevermind that he didn't need to breathe. He nodded to Cyrilla as she began to move off, turning his attention to the area around him. Or to be more accurate, the first available free space. The undead leviathan began attempting to walk through the snow, his hiss of disgust turning into one of pleasure when he realized he could belly slide like the world's largest penguin in order to get around.

((Petro's form will fluctuate at the most inconvenient of times))

When the voice over the icky-com announced they were crashing, Petro's first instinct was to brace himself for impact in a location that would take most of the brunt from the luggages rather than the other passengers. Suffering builds character! It also toughens you up while lessening the damage done to the others. At least, that was what was going on in the tikbalang's head. When the train stopped, in fantastic train wreck fashion, Petro wasn't as banged up as he thought he would be. Apparently, in his humanoid form, he had less mass and was less useful as a meatshield. Something he should remember next time.

He looked down and was surprised (and somewhat pleased) to find himself in his real form (and still dressed in his rainbow loincloth). Which was a welcome sight because it was jacking cold! At least he had more fur on him and hooves weren't as susceptible to the biting chill as toes were. Then he remembered he was with other passengers and scanned the area for them, eventually noticing the large crowd of students that had gathered around the colorful tree where the Headmistress was singing!?

By the time she or rather her shadow had finished her number and the gnome took over, the monster horse was grinning wildly. A battle! They were going to go and fight! That information was enough for him to ignore the raiding and ransacking part; considering he was being raised to be a Forest Guardian not some marauder like some of the other tikbalang clans. Whatever second thoughts he may have had about this all but flew from his mind when they were instructed to take their backpacks (I should get my peppermint back from Haku!) and pick a weapon!

The already wide grin on his face just got wider and possibly even feral as he picked up an EXTREME SNOWBALL LAUNCHER 5000 for his arsenal. As he hefted it onto his shoulder, he suddenly felt his body shift into his human form and nearly lost his balance in surprise.

"Anak ng tokwa!" he exclaimed in his native tongue, not understanding just what had happened. Did the pin start working again? Why did it stop working in the first place? He looked to the other students, debating on whether to ask if they had any trouble with their shifting (if they were capable of it) because, well, this was a whole new set of students he didn't know.

"Why did I even bother to come on this trip?" The thought had been echoing around Sarias head throughout the whole event. The D grade train cabs, the horrible food, the funny smells...oh yeah not to mention all the death and ghostly reindeer popping up here there and everywhere! She had quite enough and after finding herself unable to help the patchwork Christof with his pen plight she had sat herself down, alone, on one of the more stable and cleaner seats. But of course where would the fun be in that? The icky-com buzzed into life, several moments of what sounded like a gnome losing control over his bowels, and then BAM! The train cabs whipped and whirled, Sarias barely clinging on to the seat edge as other flew about, suitcases, pets, body parts! If this hadn't soon becoming a swirling vortex of doom, this could have been Sarias kind of party!

The next few moments were in a haze of darkness, terrible singing, the nightmare of Hellma coming into view and the lasting words of "Size the Holidays!" echoed in her mind.

"I feel like ectoplasm warmed up..." she also looked it but as Sarias steadied herself on a random tree...where did that come from? She viewed her new surroundings. The reaper girl that Sarias had spotted on the train was missing from their group, everyone else seemed to be here, not that she knew them...or cared.

Grabbing her tent, her FEAR capsules and the Christmas Wreath (she realised that from whipping her chains she had a decent throwing arm!) she was prepared to go off into the unknown, choosing the left route with alarming quickness. She had no-one to talk too, or make sure was ok, she might as well get going. The terror of the unknown did not hinder her steps, the worry of what was waiting did not slow her down no, the speed in her heels was the realisation of the amount of people coming out of the cabs and she wasn't about to stick around to see just how many there was.

The Colchian dragon was appreciative of her friend's garbled sympathy noises, and she reached over to give him a pat on his head. The ghoul's eyes drifted to Merope's pin. Well, that certainly wasn't good.

"I hope so. It's gonna be a long year if not. I don't mind this form, but.. well. You know." she dragged her foot across some snow, kicking it out ahead of her. It splatted into a rock up ahead, making a squishy, wet sound as it did. "It's me, but, it's.. not me? Oh well. I'll make due either way I guess." she shrugged it off, it was something she could worry about at a later date.

Turning her head, she watched as the Lost Fathom's boil snorted up a nose full of snow. She let out a soft laugh as she saw the look that quickly plastered itself over his face. It was more than just a little bit on the entertaining side. She'd almost forgotten how nice it had been to travel with him in the weeks before starting school. She was glad that he was alright and that they were traveling together again. Still laughing, Cyrilla reached over and swatted at his nose, dusting the snow away. "Yeah it is kinda nifty. Cold. I like it. Could get used to it."

Her head bobbled along as she turned her head on a swivel, taking in the strange environment they were finding themselves in. Her mind drifted towards the boys she'd been riding with in the train, but the thought was quickly interrupted as she watched Merope go gliding passed her in the snow.

"What the... ooohh." Well, that looked like fun. The dracolich girl got down on her own belly, and slid... a bit. Frowning, and now unpleasantly cold along her belly, she attempted once more. The same results. Giving a discouraged grunt, the ghoul pulled herself up and dusted herself off.

"Hmm." her brow furrowed for a moment as she thought. Suddenly her eyes widened, and she zipped up through the snow, catching up with Merope. Within a few moments she grabbed onto one of the tents, and used it to pull herself up onto the lost fathoms leviathan. Grinning from ear to ear (literally), she stood up on his back, wobbling a bit as he moved across the snow, before finally seeming to find her equilibrium.

"Now this is more like it!" she called down to the boil, "Hope you don't mind my catching a ride Mer! Promise I'll make it up to you later."

Rain blinked her eyes furiously. One minute, she was on the train, admiring all the pretty pictures the students in her car and the next, she was face down in a pile of white fluffy. It felt a little cold and if she could feel a little cold, that meant most of the other students probably felt very cold. Rain was desensitized to most feelings. How had she exited the train? She got her answer when she looked over her body. Several glass shards were embedded in her. She pulled each one out and dropped them into the snow, a few drops of coagulated blood slurped out of her body (a rather gross sound) but then the blood stopped. She'll be okay. She may need a few stitches later, just to close up the skin but it was nothing she couldn't handle.

"Krumm car students, are you okay?" She tried to do a headcount and was disheartened to see that several were missing. Some students were gathered up, listening to singing and then orders. Was that Hellma singing? She caught enough of it to learn what was going on. She needed to grab a weapon. There would be battles. Something about a tent.

She pushed herself up and noticed another glass shard in her leg. Hell, it looked like she took out half the window with this leg alone. She would be limping along with the others today. The great thing about zombies is that they never stopped once they set their mind to something. She was sure she could cover just as much, if not more distance than some of the students that had come out of the wreck completely unscathed. She walked over and grabbed a tent set. She hauled it over one shoulder and grabbed two of the pills, placing them firmly into her pocket with the remaining silver pumpkin seed and peppermint points. Hopefully, she wouldn't pull out the wrong item when she needed a pill but she didn't want to carry any more bags. She had to still choose a weapon as was.

None of the items looked particularly interesting. She was torn between the yellow snow and the Tangled Christmas Lights. After weighing the options, she went with the yellow snow. It looked like she was going to need a bag after all, and without thinking, she plucked one away from a little gnome and scooped some of the yellow snow within it.

((Natalia will tear about the forest in her Were form))

"NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" There came a screech off in the distance, muffled by the sound of leaves and a slight breeze that passed...it looked like someone had flown out of the cart quite a ways away and was NOT happy about it. Deathly moans and groans escaped from the far-off student, growing deeper and more primal in nature. What the hell was that?

Suddenly, branches were cracking beneath heavy steps, a ferocious sound coming from the creature in question. As it got closer it became more apparent that the voice, however low and growly it seemed, had a feminine lift to each end.

Out of the thicket it stormed, stumbling with both hands--er claws pushing branches away from its deep blue face. "No, no, no I hideous I hideous, where be pin? WHERE PIN?!" The monster was...large. At least an inch or two wider then its usual form, equipped with muscles, fangs, talons and--wut, a long tail? It was in obvious distress over the lost skull pins. “I have to find it before…”

As it would be, the monster hadn't noticed the onslaught of children scrambling about before it, having assumed those large claws were still reaching out in an empty plot of forest-land. When their voices, whispers and calls for those they were familiar with, were about as close as could be without trampling them...the monster stumbled back from whence it came and slipped.

Falling on its back with a THUD.

Teeth bit down hard and ended in a clicking sound as wounds from the train crash were made worse by the fall. The monster did not make a sound, only eyeballing the tattered clothes that remained on its body in...well, bits and pieces. Something about the creature was familiar, but something else seemed foreign, at least to those who knew its former self. As the moments passed, it seemed to lose more and more of the human-like qualities it had stumbled around in, now blinking and gawking at the gnomes who were hard at work trying to inform them of one thing or another.

Sitting straight up, tail draped over her outstretched legs, Natalia whined. Loudly. Her Russian accent seemed to flow much more smoothly then it had in her 'human' form, and was now heavier in retrospect.

She was...definitely a were-lemur, and one who had very little control over her transformations at that! The blasted pin had been a blessing! But--now she could not even remember the pin or the train ride. Her thoughts as they had been prior to the crash were simpler. A now placid gaze swept the crowd, lips neither curving up nor down. Everyone would be looking. Everyone would see her face, her hairy body! THEY WOULD KNOW. THEY WOULD KNOW THE TRUTH. But Natalia would probably not remember this when she had finally changed back.

AND THAT did not seem like it would be happening any time soon.

Rising to her full height, a good 5'6'' as was her human stance, Natalia clenched both fists. Her shoulders were raised near her ears naturally, capable of standing straight up but...preferring to slump somewhat in a hunch. Her claws and feet were made sharp with pointed nails and were much longer then would have been expected. She watched as the student body meandered about, having only missed the first part of Hellma's song but arriving just in time to hear about the mission.

"Christmas?" Her throat burned when she tried to raise her voice. That crash really did a number on them. "Fight-ing?" What? It did not understand! What was going on?

Then...the gnomes mentioned something about a mission and what confusion was set on that facade was now lifted; she was excited. Something about ghastly monsters and fighting, two words one would not usually associate with Natalia; but luckily, this was not REALLY Natalia, at least not right now.

Those rounded ears on the side of her head perked, nose wrinkling with curiosity. A smile, both bright and alarming, widened on her face. Yeti's, It thought, and deer...maybe wolves? Natalia was all too familiar with the creatures of wild forests--or at least she THOUGHT she was familiar with them. Or, no wait she HAD been familiar with them, the memories were faded and distant to the CREATURE she had transformed into now. The monster would soon find out which would be which.

It waited a while, watching some students approach the weapons sooner than others. What was with all these things? A wreath? The idea behind them seemed on point but...it just did not look strong enough to take down, oh lets say, a YETI. It's long, pink tongue rounded each lip and the jowls that followed, finalized by the widest yawn that showed off every tooth and gum possible.

Natalia, no longer trying to hide her face, reached for the Sack Full of Joy. It jingled and made funny noises that, in turn, made her giggle.
