When she had gotten a call from Luke about meeting up about something that was, according to him, terribly urgent, Eve Summers had assured him that she wouldn't mind meeting up. What could be so terribly urgent that he needed her help? She wondered, pursing her lips as she pulled on her coat. It was likely to be Senshi business, but to her, terribly urgent in Senshi terms meant he was getting beaten up and needed help, and he had said nothing of that sort.

Still, her henshin pen was tucked safely into her pocket, like it always was. There was never knowing when one would run into a rampaging youma intent on destroying the city and stealing starseeds.

She reached Shufflepuck, and thank god there weren't any screams or roars on the way, and made her way over to where the familiar blond boy was sitting. He didn't seem too beaten up and Eve shrugged as she slid into the seat opposite him. "Hey, so what's so terribly urgent, violin boy? Someone you know got their starseed stolen?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 4:27 pm

"Flower power, if someone I knew got their starseed stolen, would I really be waiting inside here instead of out there? If it was a starseed, I would have made that phone call much more dramatic-- you know, the screams of pain, silence, the questionable squeak in the background and hanging up. All that jazz and more." Luke portrayed to the other with silly expressions and gestures relating his story, his hand near his ear in a calling gesture-- The waitress that passed by during the second half of the speech gave Luke an odd look.

But as usual, Luke paid no heed to the reactions he was getting. Apparently, he got them a lot. No big deal.

"You know what's urgent?" His thumb and finger was arranged like a gun, one eye closed as if aiming for Eve. His pointer finger jerked up in a "boom" gesture, as if firing an imaginary bullet. "That great emotion we call love. You know, the one that makes us males traverse through the pink jungles of desire and idiocy? I dont know how it is for you females but you can probably replace a couple of adjectives in there to make it right."

...

.....

In basic terms, he had called Flower Pollen Eve for some love advice. But upon only meeting her twice, the reason he had selected the loyal blond was a mystery that had yet to be explained.

"I was just joking." She shot back with a laugh. Plus, if that were the case, he would have probably tried calling her on the senshi cellphone first. It probably hadn't been wise to slip in the word 'starseed' in their conversation when they looked like normal teenagers, but at the very least, no one had seemed to overhear.

Now to drop that topic entirely in case they got into trouble.

"Hmm?" She tilted her head to one side, arms folded. "Do tell." Apparently, judging from her unperturbed demeanor, Eve had experience with guy friends coming to her to ask for help for romantic endeavors. (See: Elzo Xanis.) "So who's the girl who you would serenade outside her window in the middle of the night?" It could be someone she knew, or someone she barely did. Like in the case of Elzo, she hadn't really known Audrey until Elzo said he had liked her.

If only she knew, but Eve had never entertained that option for one very simple reason.

Luke was glad that the other had actually taken time out of her schedule to meet with him. She seemed to have quite the sense of humor as well, bantering back and forth."Serenading outside her window. I like that. That's something I haven't done yet." He seemed to give serious thought to the idea, adding it to his mental checklist. He grinned, giving her a wide grin, as if the other female was already in on the secret.

For the most part, she probably would be.

"You know, with all that stuffy manly pride.." He informed Eve, taking a sip of his water, ".. it's insanely hard for us to ask advice. You wouldn't believe how much effort it took to call you. After all, its a sensitive topic for a guy my age." Luke was hedging around the topic, almost as if.. it was hard to tell Eve. Easy-going and cheerful Luke? The guy who had no problem saying anything and everything? Yes. He chuckled (albeit, a bit awkwardly) as he tried to work up to the name.

He shook his head, leaning back against the chair, with a rather hopeless smile. "It's a girl you know really well. I'm not really scoring too much points with her at the moment," His hand rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, continuing on. ".. But it's her icy personality that just makes it better. Takes me seriously, you know? Gorgeous teal eyes to drown in. But also really hard to handle-- much less profess my undying love to."

Luke was still working his way up to saying her name. But by this point, the image should have been forming in Eve's mind by now. Could it be..?

"Just take care you don't disturb the neighbors." She warned him with a grin, dropping her voice to a whisper as she continued. "Or any unicorns." Honestly, she didn't want to hear any reports about Robot Unicorn Attack coming to life as a rumored advertisement stunt or anything.

It was rather predictable that he would hedge the topic as long as possible, leaving her to take in all the information and hazard a guess. She only propped her chin up with a hand, eyebrow raised in question. "Yeah, I've heard it all before. Don't worry, you're not the first one. I swear, I'm like a magnet for love advice or something. I should set up a shop and become a guru and charge by the hour." Eve finished with a wink. Well, if he had a hard time getting the name out, it meant that he probably really liked the girl, right?

Girl she knew very well.

Icy personality.

Teal Eyes.

It took a very quick moment to connect the dots. Eve wasn't a dumb blonde, something Charys had figured that out in their first meeting. And while it was easy to guess, it was fairly... unexpected. "You're... joking." She managed out, after a moment of staring at him in shock. "You have got to be joking. I-i mean, Rea's gay, y'know?" Plus, her best friend didn't seem that interested in relationships after her last semi-girlfriend left.

She really hoped he was playing a joke on her.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 28, 2010 1:50 am

"Well, if I was joking, the punchline's missing somewhere." Luke sipped his drink, twirling the blue straw within his thumb and pointer finger. One could see the exact moment Eve had figured out who the recipient was. In fact, the look on her face was fairly hilarious, the shock and stunned expression-- Hilarious until the next line was uttered, leaving ten full seconds of silence between the two.

Gay. Meaning, preferences for the female gender, in this case.

Meaning the world was his competition. Males were bad enough. But so was the entire female population? Even worse.

"Okay, you're going to have to clear this part for me." Luke lifted up his hand, two fingers up, counting off the list that Eve would need to clarify. "Are you saying, she's gay in general, because then I still have a slim chance--" One finger lowered, indicating towards the last item in the list. "-- Or is she gay for you, because then I don't stand a chance." The difference between them was obvious at the senshi meeting. Pegasus had lowered her frosty exterior by an inch when Euterpe approached her. But when Flora approached her, Pegasus had lowered it by a mile. Apply that towards the emotional distance between Eve, Luke and Rea, it was amplified by at least, ten times.

Eve sat back, watching his face intently, an expression of solemnity on her face. It had just occurred to her right after she had blurted it out that it probably wouldn't be easy for Luke to handle. Then again, if he did find this bit of information particularly distressing, she would always lend him a shoulder to lean on. It wasn't as if she hadn't comforted a guy who was out of love before. He looked more confused than anything though, and it was lucky that she wasn't in the midst of drinking something when he spoke again.

Because she would have very likely choked and it wouldn't have been a very pretty sight. Gay for her?

It was easy to see where he was coming from. Rea and her were best friends, and as Eve had told Serenade, she wouldn't be surprised if Crystal girls had gossiped about them. Then again, with everyone having a dorm partner in Crystal, there were many of these silly rumors floating around.

She stared at him, crossing her arms, an amused smile twitching at the corner of her lips. While she was tempted to tell him the truth, Eve figured that there wasn't any harm in messing with Luke a little.

Just a little.

"Hmmmmmmmmm." Eve murmured thoughtfully, propping an elbow up on the table and settling her chin thoughtfully on the underside of her palm. "Well, we did room together for a year, and got really close since then. She was there when I was first awakened, and was pretty worried as to how I would take it, and helped me to adjust. We patrolled together a lot, and I bet I'm one of the only ones who can convince Rea to do anything..." She trailed off, keeping an eye on his reaction. "I mean, I am considering asking her to get an apartment with me." There was another pause as she played with a strand of her hair.

"And she'd probably agree anyway."

There was a silence for a moment before Eve decided to put him out of his misery.

"Of course, she could just be bi like me." Eve finished. It didn't occur to her that she was dropping another bomb onto him.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 28, 2010 10:40 pm

Luke wans't out of love. Even with the first bomb dropped upon him (and the multiple stabbing wounds that Eve was about to inflict,) Eve was going to find out as light-hearted as Luke seemed, it seemed he had an inner strength that refused to die.

As Eve listed off their life story, she could only see the back of Luke's blond head as his face met the table. She never saw his face, only hear grunts and unidentifiable sounds of pain as she continued to verbally stab him. He turned his head to the side, his cheek lying flat on one side.

"And she'd probably agree anyway."

".. that's nice." He mustered up the strength to say, nearly half-dead from Eve's long barrage of words. He blinked, very nearly missing her next line. His ragged voice came out muffled and soft, only audible enough for Eve to hear. "The jungle of love is a difficult road that I dont plan to give up. If this is a test I've gotta pass---" He cut himself off, eyes widening, head suddenly lifting (although he was still slumped over the table) looking up at Eve with wide green eyes.

"Bi?" The word inspired hope for a split second but it disappeared as fleetingly as it came. "Meaning, now I've got the whole world again me and you." He slumped his head down once more, picturing the last time he saw Pegasus ... That was the senshi meeting. Much too long. As he pictured her icy exterior, he remembered how she softened upon seeing her best friend. A realization hit him. Best friend. Best friend?

"Wait .. Hold on a moment. If you're bi--- does that mean you're not together with her? So I've got a chance?"

Eve kept a cheerful grin plastered on her face, trying not to break out into peals of laughter as Luke's head met the table. It was probably a silly thing to find amusement from, and luckily she did feel sorry enough for him to not giggle out loud. Sure, she had liked toying with him; that's what he got for telling her this was an emergency and making it sound like it was life or death.

In his eyes, it possibly was. Besides, him liking Rea was equivalent to a banana wanting itself to be inserted into the ear of Charlie the Unicorn. It was pretty much a futile attempt.

"Technically, I'm not sure. It's hard to decipher Rea's sexual orientation because she's extremely cold, and has only really been nicer to girls." Like her, Serenade, Coralie and probably more female senshi. "I've never seen her be remotely interested in a boy."

"Weeeeell," Eve began, linking her fingers to stretch her arms as she pondered what she should say. "Unless something happens when we continue living together." Of course, Luke didn't have to know that she was pretty much hesitant about relationships. It wasn't as if many people would believe that happy-go-lucky Eve Summers did not want a boyfriend, or a girlfriend and was not interested in pursuing anyone.

Obviously, the other's words did little to cheer the male from the depression the female had stuffed down his throat. Although the next few words were meant to be cheerful banter, it came with a slightly exasperated note. "Eve, you fail at this love master advice. I demand a refund." Luke stated to the other, leaning back against the back of his chair, arms stretched out. He let out a ragged breath, shaking his head.

"You know what? Even with your outstanding and lovely advice, this is a battle of love. The jungle's got tons of hurdles and this is just the biggest one. It's a pass or fail from this point on!" He raised his fist as he spoke, eyes shining with, as he would term it, the "fiery flames of desire that only the dragon of love could ignite."

"If I fail, it'll be because I failed to somebody who's way out of my league." He looked down to glance at Eve's amused expression. Obviously, when it came to Rea, Eve was far out of Luke's league when it came to the silent and cold senshi. Who could beat being roommates and going through untold experiences. Experiences that Luke would never know about.. one factor was the time difference but another was that Luke had only been handed a duty that they had been given over a year ago.

He was far behind. But if he lost to Eve, that would be acceptable. Because it was Eve.

"Heeeey!" Eve protested, with the sulkiest pout she could muster without giggling. "I did fine on Elzo's case! Of course, he did some stupid things that I almost wanted to strangle him over, but it all turned out fine in the end!" There was a pause as she reflected on the whole Castor and Linarite issue which had made her almost want to tear out her hair. At least now, Elzo and Audrey were happy together. "Besides, I haven't even told you my hourly rate!" She reached a hand out over the table to give him a sympathetic pat on his arm.

"Besides, you haven't been talking to Elzo, have you?" The blond asked with a curious raise of an eyebrow. "First the coming to me to love advice, then the determination to persevere whatever this journey will throw your way." She was still joking, of course, but if it was true, she would immediately advise him against listening to that Xanis twin in particular. She was sure Rea wouldn't appreciate weird (and possibly crude) ideas sprung out of the blue to court her, even though she might get some amusement from it.

"It depends on whether she will want to open herself up to a new relationship." Eve mused out loud, staring off into the distance. While she was talking about Rea, a small part of her echoed its agreement with that statement. If Rea was as stubborn as her on this issue, then well, it would be very difficult for Luke.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:53 am

"Eve. Any guy who's worth anything knows that you can't give up on love. You just gotta run for it!" One finger made a twirling motion as he talked, eyes closed, stating it in a matter-of-fact tone, as if it were a natural law of the world. In Luke's world it was! It was the Darwin's Law .. however much laws one scientist could make, Luke had an entire set to match.

Luke had known from the start that Rea might not be open to a relationship. But in this perfect world, first, second and third tries were do-able! It wasn't like a romance game, where the choices affected your entire life. Especially the decision between strawberry and blueberry cake. If they never told you her tastes, how were you supposed to guess such a vague question?

(Or.. was it?)

"That's why you're helping me. Tell me what she likes, what she prefers .. that sort of information. You can't fault me for trying to find something in common with here here. If it doesn't work, it can be an impossibly unrequited love. What's that called-- Tough love?" He tipped his head, trying to recall the name given .. "Or maybe that's one-sided love?"

"I never told you to give up!" Eve looked horrified at the very suggestion. Give up? That word was not registered in her dictionary; Eve had never taken no for an answer. "I meant that you should think it through carefully. And not to harbor too high hopes or you might just come crashing down." Or she might have to comfort him when he was nursing a broken heart.

"Uhhhhh." Eve stared at Luke for a moment, tilting her head to the side as she thought of what was her best friend's favorite things. "Rea likes me." Obviously, but she couldn't resist that quip, evidenced by the grin tugging at the corners of her lips. "Rea also likes horses; she rides, you know? Also likes unicorns," another duh, really, considering who her alter-ego was, "likes being serious, likes staying adamant unless you know how to say please in the right way and give her a puppy dog face she can never say no to." But that really applied to her more than Luke, and so, she simply shrugged and continued. "Likes dancing, um, plays lacrosse, loves waffles... come on, you can't expect me to list everything!"
PostPosted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 2:20 am

"Crashing is my forte. You know, at parties. But hey, my world crashing down might give me the sore reality check I don't really need. All's well that ends well though, right?" Luke joked, leaning back against his chair with an exaggerated pose, crossing one leg over the other.

He nearly choked visibly on his water when Eve decided to sneak in another quip, his hand patting his chest in an effort to force the water to go down. Coughing, he gave Eve the eyebrow raise. "You really had to fit that in there didn't you?" He shook his head, mentally keeping a checklist as Eve continued on.

"The basics are good. Looks like I've got enough for now-- I don't want to come off as a stalker, if I asked you for everything. Besides, knowing too much leads to a very unsatisfactory ending in the games. Wouldn't want to chance that. The element of surprise-- dan-ger-rous! But exciting!" He winked at Eve, holding his hand out for a fistshake.

"Seriously. I appreciate you coming out and listening to my tales of woe."
