I love my best friend like a sister, but right now I am a little mad at her...

She shared her cold, and now I am sicker than a dog.

And... the doc thinks I have pink eye.

Aw, I'm sorry. I hate when people share their colds. Why can they just keep them to themself. I have never had pink eye though, so I can not empathize with you for that.

I hate pink eye. Colds suck too. I am uncommonly susceptible to pink eye though. I have found that Wal-Mart carries a type of eye-drop that is made specifically for it though, and it sooths pretty well, plus it seems to shorten the time you suffer from it. You might send you're husband to find some. It is in the same aisle as the Vizene.

It says Pink Eye formula on the label, but I forget the name of the brand. There are several formulas of the same stuff in one little row though, so it shouldn't be hard to find. It's in good old fashioned brown glass bottles too, but they have plastic dropper tops.

I have found that keeping a patch over the infected eye pretty much stops the chance of spreading the infection to other people (or your other eye). So when you sleep, you can patch your eye, and that also helps your eye from being dry crusted together. It's easier to wash in the morning when it's still gooey, than when it dry.

I guarantee you it is much worse.
And did I mention it is incurable?
PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 4:46 pm

Eltanin, The doc gave me a "special" eye drop because I am sensitive to eye drops that are over the counter. I have to buy special washes for my contacts. Obviously I am not wearing my contacts right now... Plus the eye drop she ordered for me has an antibiotic in it becuse she believes that I have a bacterial infection that has spread from my sinuses to my eye. Its not catchy unless someone (like my idiot husband) wanted to lick my eyeball... nasty habit. I think I punched him the last time he tried that...

I can't wear a patch at night because I have to use a heat pack over that eye.

Lumanny, I have Crohns disease. Its simmilar to IBS. Anyway, when I am stressed I tend to spend a lot of time in the WC...

anyway, I feel a bit better now that my meds are starting to kick in.

I hate pink eye! I just got over having it. It hurt so much. I felt like some one had rubbed sand paper on my eye. I couldn't take any medication for it because I am pregnant and didn't want to risk any adverse health effects to my baby. The best thing to do is to take warm wet wash rags and place them over your eye several times a day. It really helps. It's what my doctor told me to do. And eye drops are really soothing too. They kind of taking the burning away. Also wash your bedding daily and wash your hands a lot that way you don't spread the pink eye to your other eye or any one else.

I used those kind of eye drops...I have the name right on the tip of my tongue, but cannot for the life of me remember it. I never used an eye patch for my pink eye. I was never advised to do so. Maybe if I ever get it again I will ask about it.

@ Eponishta- Man that sucks, but at least you made it to the doctor. I have gotten to where I don't go anymore because I get pink eye like 3 times a year. I used to get the antibiotic eye-drops, but the Wal-mart stuff seems to work just as well, and it is less expensive for me.

@ Shadow-shine- As for the eye-patch, I use it when I go to sleep to keep me from rubbing on my eye, and it helps keep the nastiness off of my pillow. It is just a bonus that it keeps the goo from getting all solid.

I use the patch when my eye is really irritated as well, because I don't always pay attention to what I'm doing, and will suddenly realize that I have been rubbing on my eye for 5 minutes. xp I don't believe it is good to keep a patch on it for the whole time your eye is ailing, but when your eye isn't gonna be in use, or when you risk doing more damage by leaving it exposed, it helps.

I'm sorry, but I have to say your comment about your husband made me laugh. I believe mine has tried that. Or else we'll be laying in bed and he'll randomly lick my arm, or pit, where ever he is laying at the moment. He usually gets kicked (literally) out of bed for it. Then that starts a whole wrestling match. But it makes life interesting, to say the least.

Crohn's Disease IS Inflammatory Bowel Disease....

..so why complain about Pink-eye?

Well, my husband doesn't lick me... intentionally... but there was this one time....

I was asleep on the couch in the living-room waiting for him to get home. The lights were out, but he knew I was there so he decided to wake me up with a kiss... and he missed my mouth... and he got my eye... It had the potential to be one of those really romantic moments, but it turned into a WTF moment instead. It felt weird. I woke up in the most confused state of shock I have ever woken up to, and I have woke up in some weird situations (like walking down the road in a nightgown and shorts with unmatched shoes)...

Lumanny,

The docs who diagnosed me in college claimed that there is a difference between IBS and Crohn's Disease.

and I suppose I am complaining because I don't feel good, and my husband is not sleeping with me... I like to snuggle, and there isn't anyone to snuggle with when he is relegating himself to the guest room until I am better.

Eltiann... LOL...

Aakosir... Yeah, my hubby tries the lick in strange places tact to get us playing... If he wants to wrestle, he should just say I want to wrestle... not lick me in odd places.
