Dath knew that he was walking straight into the fire, but what was life without a little conflict? If it was going to turn into such a big thing, he could handle himself. His favourite thing wasn't bloodshed, but leaving the mortals that aggrivated him dumbfounded; surely that wouldn't be too hard here. He did conceal anything about himself that looked mortal, however. What was more fun than to make one question everything that they had seen, when a lion who looked harmless just disappeared? Among other things he could do, but he wasn't the type to think over everything before doing it.

Which is what usually got him into this sort of trouble.

Knowing his red coat would blend in well with the locals, he lingered around, straying from the heart of the pride. He didn't want too many questions asked of him, but wanted to amuse himself for just a little bit. Time to find someone to fill in the time.

Amalahle was in a bitter mood having stumbled away from a lost duel and a lecture from the smug orange beast that had beaten her. She wasn't hurt, duels were not typically sincere efforts to harm one another-- though she liked to think if he hadn't tripped out of her path she would have hurt him good.

Typically, Amalahle did not pay much attention to the world around her or those lions that were in it. Picking a fight was about as social as she got, and that was how she had ended up in the duel to begin with. She didn't think twice about approaching Dath as she headed back away from the center of the pride to find a quiet place to sit by herself. And except for an very slightly curious glance, she was ready to march on by him.

Well, obviously this is where the hid all the females, wasn't it? He liked the dainty, flowery ones, sure. As long as they left when he told them too, he didn't really care much about them after that. Now, when he wanted a fiery one, this was where he needed to show up. Glancing at the female that acted like she was going to walk past him only reaffirmed these thoughts.

"Just going to walk right on by?" he asked, a smug look on his face. He knew nothing was easy, and only the best things you had to fight for, but she was pretty enough that he wanted to. No, he was going to. Time to test out those sly wits that he hadn't used in what seemed like forever.

"No need to rush by," he hastily added on.

There was something unusual about him, she noticed, which was what had earned him the glance. But the way he blended in so well with the general appearance of the other lions here, it was a fleeting feeling that she was ready to just ignore entirely. She wasn't really expecting any conversation to be struck up. She hesitated after another step and turned back to face him.

"No?" she asked, holding her head high, "Why shouldn't I keep walking?"

There weren't many good reasons to stop and chat with anybody, her family barely got that privilege now. He didn't look familiar, she couldn't judge him based on apparent family connections.. but that did put him in the former-rogue category. And that didn't earn much respect from her, either.

He grinned. There was something nagging her. Probably something small, something he couldn't understand, but normally that left them vulnerable. And as much as they denied it, females were more controlled over their emotions than males. Perhaps it was just the little chip in the armor to wiggle for what he wanted. He'd get it, too. No repetition of that stupid female that had turned him down on his nose a while back. He'd never put up with that again.

"Ah, I see. You know everything, and as such feel it too below you to speak with everyone. What if I told you that you didn't? There's so much more out there than the sand dunes that riddle these lands."

Perhaps a start. Perhaps he just pissed her off more. Time to wait and see.

Amalahle was egotistical in many respects but she had never really considered herself as omniscient. She mostly doubted the usefulness or point in conversing with most others. She didn't like anybody enough to listen to their perspectives and risk needing to adjust her own. His mentioning the outside of the desert firmly placed him in the rogue category and she truly didn't care to hear about beyond the desert.

"Find someone else to lecture," she said, her voice more indifferent and annoyed than angry despite the implied insult on her personality. She turned away again, ready to move on.

No! He let a soft growl escape his throat, resisting the urge to do so louder. He did not want to attract more attention to himself than needed, but...

"Oh? But what if I have my eyes set on you?" he purred, a habit he had picked up from the stupid females he couldn't remember their names to faces. He rushed in front of her, but oddly enough there was one wing draped from his back, curling around his neck before angling in the direction he was looking. Towards her.

He slowly let the other one appear as well, but still had his horn and jewelry concealed. He was intrigued to see her reaction to it.

As soon as he said he had his eyes on her, she was expecting to be intercepted- she wasn't expecting to see any physical difference in him, however. Ready to just change her path and go around, she stumbled to a stop when she spotted the wing- and she watched as he revealed the other one. He wasn't a Firekin at all, but he wasn't a rogue, either. He was a god. The Simo had abandoned their deity, had abandoned all deities.. but that was one thing that Amalahle had never really accepted.

She was standing straight again, looking directly at Dath, silent. She was not smiling but she was not scowling or indifferent, either. Her interest was clear in her expression, one that was very rare for her.

The red and black male grinned again. To him it was only a parlor trick, but to a mortal it was something more than the pea-brained male god could comprehend. He just touted his power around like it was no big deal, but he had never been on the other side of the line. In fact, he should feel insulted that he was never interesting when he was pretending to be a mortal. Ever. No one cared until he had shown himself to be a god. Sort of lame, but Dath didn't realize this.

"There we go," he said happily. "You must be of the old blood, then." He hadn't stepped into these lands in a very long time, but gossip was inevitable when one spent as much time in the mortal realm as Dath did. He knew that it had changed, but obviously not all of them had conformed to the dismissal of gods.

"Yes, I am," Amalahle responded proudly when he suggested a lineage, it was something she was proud of and another thing she refused to let go of despite the merge. The mention indicated to her that he knew of the pride before all the recent changes, and that again made her more agreeable.

"Who are you?" she asked, unaware of any specific deities outside of Finar-si but she wasn't unwilling to believe there were others- especially when faced with such evidence. What other god would pay them any attention?

He cocked a brow upwards, obviously pleased that he had guessed right, and mildly amused at how proud she was of it. He had a slightly better opinion of those that carried their belief in gods, but then, there was only one real one in their eyes. Still, better than those that threw all their beliefs away.

"My name is Dath," he said proudly himself. "I am Chaos." And oh, was he proud of it.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:08 pm

"Chaos," she repeated thoughtfully, deciding that seemed a likely deity to find wandering out here in the desert. And somehow it was fitting, not just for the surroundings but for the lion himself. It was, perhaps, a tip to use caution, though. Potentially violet was one thing but unpredictable was another. Still, she stood stubbornly where she was, refusing to back up even a little.

"My name is Amalahle," she said, thinking it best to introduce herself rather than jump right into the questions she had to ask- but she thought better of that, too. Why was he here, masquerading as a firekin? Why had he stopped her to chat in the first place and then again when she tried to walk away?

He grinned. Good. They were getting somewhere. For some reason, he really wanted to pull her out of these lands, though willingly. Perhaps it was the fact that if he was found out, it could get ugly, perhaps it was more because he didn't care for all the sand that lingered in this land. Regardless, he knew it would be easier now than it would have been if he had still pretended to be a mortal.

"My invitation still stands. Would you be willing to see the world outside of the sand dunes?" He assumed she would say yes, even if it wasn't immediate.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:53 pm

So, it was an invitation now. And she was intrigued by the idea. She wasted so much time and bile wandering the Simo lands, hating most of the other lions and resenting the decision her parents made to come here. And now, they had not only come here but they had taken high ranks. Perhaps it was better than nothing but it was also just.. too agreeable. That was why she had become a huntress and nothing more.

"I might be," she said, "What incentive do I have to leave?"

She might not have much incentive to stay but there was security in staying here, even if she hated it.

Dath's tail curled behind him, rustling his wings that had been settled across his back. He let his golden eyes dart around, but no one else was visible. That didn't mean that there might not be eyes on them, but they were probably far enough away to not be able to hear.

"I could offer you the world," he said. "And not in controlling it. In knowing it. You'll see how wrong your fellow pride mates are in their perceptions of this world." And he would.
