Name: Tanasha (goes by Ash)
Age: 24
Gender: Female
History: Tanasha's parents are rough, tough guards, and you can bet your lilly-white arse they didn't raise no fainting blossom. From day one short hair and practical clothes were the order of the day for Tanasha, or Ash as she generally called herself, and she loved it. She had no interest in anything even vaguely girly, and was never happier than when tussling with the boys or kicking a ball around. As she grew older this didn't change, but around the time she began to stand as a candidate, inevitably her body did, and this made her feel rather awkward and out of place. She wasn't one of the girls, and didn't want to be either, but it was becoming difficult for her to be one of the boys too. She never became all that womanly, but her almost non-existent curves were still enough to set her apart from the boys. It was around this awkward time that Ash also realized that she was attracted to girls; everybody else had been pretty sure for a while but it came as a bit of a shock to her, mostly because she hadn't even considered romance as a child. Her eventual, awkward coming out speech to her parents was quickly interrupted by; 'We know, you've been checking other girls out for turns dear, get over it and start chasing them.' or words to that effect.
Awkwardly, Ash did so, and much to her surprise when she asked the rather lovely Narenne out on a date, the dark-eyed girl agreed. Ren, however, was much more 'precocious' than Ash; while Ash still kind of just wanted to hold hands Ren was kissing her, and everything escalated from there. With the drama of a first relationship and being a teen in general, things eventually came to a head; when after one argument Ren announced that she was going to become a white candidate, Ash decided that she'd had enough. The pair split very suddenly, and teen gossip mongers had a bit of a field day; nobody had seen it coming, and the bitterness the divided couple immediately harbored for one another made for some really exciting talk.
When Ren moved onto another partner almost instantly, Ash was partially hurt partially furious, but only allowed the furious bit to show. She'd been too good for the nasty slut in any case. Eventually Ash moved into a relationship with another girl (a wher guard), but that relationship has recently broken down too, although far less explosively this time; the pair had merely grown apart, and are still on fairly good (if awkward) terms.
Now in her twenty fourth turn, Ash isn't awkward anymore in the least. The differences between her and other lads that seemed so important in her teens don't phase her anymore, and don't seem to phase most of her male friends anymore either, so she's returned to the happy, boisterous person she was as a child. She still stands as a candidate today, but steers well clear of white candidates and white dragonets. Part of her reasoning is a genuine dislike of the beasts (that's not how a dragon and rider should be!), and partially because her hatred for Ren doesn't seem to have lessened in the least over the turns. Anything that nasty skank does has to be wrong.
Appearance: At 5'10" Ash towers over most other girls, and stands taller than quite a few men as well. She's a tough looking young woman; wirily muscled all over with work roughened hands, and a tan which indicates that a fair amount of time outdoors is part of her routine. A rather large nose and a somewhat sharp face give her a somewhat hawkish appearance, and her cropped dark auburn has does nothing to soften her look, nor does her almost total lack of feminine curves. Her manner, however, seldom match the harsh angular nature of her body; she smiles a lot more than she frowns, and her dark green eyes are usually full of laughter. Not one for girly clothes, Ash is almost always dressed practically in tough trousers and shirts. She is never without a small metal disk with the image of a dragon in flight engraved onto it; once upon a time it was a necklace, a birthday gift from her parents when she was nine, but the chain snapped turns ago and now it is usually either in Ash's pocket, or being run over her fingers.
Personality: Ash is friendly, optimistic, and full of energy; she'll happily start chatting to strangers, no amount of failure keeps her down for long, and she never seems to run out of go. She tends to stand out in a crowd for a number of reasons, these being mainly her height, her energy, and her raucous laughter. She's a pretty impatient sort; she'll always be the one grumbling quietly that the eggs are taking way too long to harden or that she wishes dinner was now not in a candlemark. She's a very confident girl, and also rather pushy; she speaks her mind at every turn and likes to have things done her way whenever possible. Even if somebody else's way of doing things is equally efficient she'll push for her methods to be used if she possibly can; the only way to get her to back down and listen to somebody else is to prove to her that they actually do know better than she does. When she isn't trying to tell people what to do, however, she's a pretty nice sort to be around; she's friendly to everyone by default and her self-assurance makes her good at creating casual conversation even if the other person is a bit quiet or shy.
When the going gets tough, working out is her way of dealing with it; if she has a knotty problem to figure out she'll go out for a run or a swim, so long as she's physically pushing herself and she's alone she finds it a lot easier to think. Ash hates to be idle in general in fact and spends most of her free time playing sports; if left to her own devices she could kick a ball around with friends all day long. She has a fairly short attention span when it comes to things she doesn't enjoy, however, so while she starts any chore with enthusiasm and energy, before too long she needs a bit of nudging to stay on task or she'll try to wander off and do something different. Her lack of focus on things that don't interest her inhibits her in some lessons as well; she currently does fairly well because she's been a candidate for so long that everything is old hat to her but she often misses a question asked of her because she's zoned out. She also tends to fidget when forced to sit down for long periods of time; she'll shift in her seat, fiddle with writing implements, or roll the small metal disk she is never without over her fingers over and over until she is told off. She'll keep fidgeting even then, but try to do something more subtle like play with a piece of string in her lap.
Nothing is too much trouble for a friend in Ash's mind, but she won't go far out of her way for casual acquaintances unless the matter is truly urgent. In a case of life/death/I will be shouted at until I go deaf she will step up to the plate and lend a hand, provided the other person knows they owe her a favour! She is extremely blunt both with her friends and with her enemies, which means a number of things. It means that when she thinks her friends are being pathetic or over dramatic, she'll tell them. If she hates somebody, they really know about it. If she thinks her superiors are idiots, she will let them know in no uncertain terms even if it gets her punishment duties.
Ash is fierce about helping the people who are in her group, and pushing down people who have done something against her, one of her friends, or who she just plain doesn't like. She'll spread rumors quite happily, but generally won't start any herself (mostly because she isn't that good at thinking them up). She also strives to be better than her enemies at every turn, and to let everyone know she's better; Ash can be quite the gloater when she succeeds at something, but it must be something she accomplished under her own power, not a nice gift she was given, or something she knows she only managed by sheer dumb luck. She can be a bit of a show off in general, and can often be heard to say 'hey everybody watch this!' before attempting some stunt or other. If she manages to pull off the handspring or the perfect dive into the lake she'll be rather smug about it, but if she messes up she'll laugh it off so long as she hasn't broken anything and if she has, well, she'll laugh about it when it heals and won't try that particular stunt again... Probably.
In sum Ash is full of energy, optimism, and confidence, but she has a rather poor attention span for and patience with doing things she doesn't want to. She likes to have things done her way, and she'd do anything to raise her friends up or push her foes down. She'd do anything for a friend, and would help just about anyone out in a pinch so long as that just about anyone knew they needed to return the favour someday.
