((Gonna say this takes place in the summer ;D)) Nika woke up to the first rays of the sun warming the tips of her ears. Blinking blearily, the Elder-to-be yawned hugely and stood up from her place in the tall grass, stretching slee-stiff muscles and popping her joints contentedly. None of the others were nv view to see her lazy morning routine, for which Nika was thankful; none of them had ever seen this side of her.
Save perhaps Kamu. Just his name rattled Nika sometimes; even now, she couldn't figure out how the male had gotten underneath her hard exterior. But he had, and they were as awkward as shy, courting kits. Nika snorted at that; she was far beyond her kithood, this shouldn't affect her so much.
But it did. Shaking her head, the brightly colored sled dog made her way down the mountain side on the Skagway trail, intent on going down to the lake. She could use a small morning meal of fish, then maybe a bath and drying out on one of the sun-warmed rocks by the lake. She'd be back with the Gang by late afternoon; they could function without her, especially in these easy summer months, for a few hours. It would give her time to think.

Tch. It was summer, one of the lazier times of the year, surely they could handle themselves. If they needed him, they could just find him. But.. damn it all, there was no way he was going to allow his little day of rest become interrupted by the members of his little Skagway Syndicate. Not if he could help it. Which was why he had simply gotten up at a mind numbingly early time and struck off on his own for the day.
So now here he was, stretched out on his side in the dirt and grass by the lake. "Mn." Kamu gave a slow stretch of his legs outward, letting a slight grin slip over his lips at the pops and cracks from his joints. More than satisfying~ With a sigh, he let his legs rest on the ground once more. All he needed was for the sun to keep warming his fur, something to eat later.. Hm. 'Having Nika around would make this lazy day all the better, though.. Gah, damn it! Why her, of all foxes? Just the thought of her makes my heart pound like fuc-..' His rambling thoughts trailed off as he picked up the nearing scent of said lady.
"Nika." Kamu greeted, voice stern and grumpy sounding as ever as he picked himself up.
Ugh. If he were positive about there being absolutely no others besides themselves around, he would smother her with affection.
[Fine with me~ |D <3]

Nika gave Kamu a look that clearly said 'you're being a dumbass'. He was constantly paranoid someone else would stumble on them and that, somehow, the Syndicate would stop respecting him.
Idiot. The Syndicate, just like the Crew and Coalition, did what she said. They'd keep following him with one baring of her teeth. Not that any of them would up and abandon Kamu's authority if they found out.
He made everything travel around her head in circles. Which, unfortunately, was something she liked about him. She didn't have to be the logical, uptight Elder with Kamu. He was incredibly frustrating sometimes, and beyong annoying...but dammit she'd fallen for that. He was different than the others, just like her. They'd both been more than a lot fo the other dogs.
His brain just got scrambled in the process, and hers didn't.
"No one else is here, idiot," she snorted, rolling her eyes at her mate. "Don't you think we would have smelled them by now?" No, of course he didn't. Kamu and thinking didn't go together.

"Mn.." Kamu gave a bite at his bottom lip, glancing around cautiously before giving Nika a fond brush on the cheek with his own. He lingered there for a moment, enjoying the little touch before pulling back with a scowl. No, not at her, never. That scowl was aimed at the idea of others being out there, watching them. ******** punks, probably looking down at their 'strong, stern, won't-take-crap leader' for allowing himself fall in love.
That annoyed him, the idea of his authority being questioned even slightly.
"What if they are, though? Hell, they could just be hiding. Or out of view. Or.. something. You know how cocky the younger generation of kids can get." The male let out a short growl, thinking that over before.. before just giving up. With the usual huff, he leaned over, nuzzling into her neck. "You're right." Kamu mumbled out, hiding his face in her fur. "Dammit, you're always right."
He didn't bother raising his head, simply leaning against Nika and giving a few slow wag of his tail. "What are you doin' here by the lake? Don't you have a tribe to run, Miss Elder?" A smirk appeared on his muzzle as he teased her lightly.

"Why the hell would they be hiding out here, Kamu? To catch us in the act. 'Deities you're paranoid, no one's gonna care that we're together." And if they did...she'd beat sense back into them.
Soon Kamu was nuzzling against her though, and with a heavy sigh Nika dropped the argument for now and bit into the tip if his ear in playful retribution. "Yes, I am always right. If we were humans, I'd be wearing any and all pants in this relationship."
Nika gave into the affection and nuzzled into her mate's hair, sighing happily. "I came to take a break for a few hours. The tribe can run without me until the sun's high."

With a huff, he flicked his nipped ear. "They'd be watchin' to spot weakness in me or somethin' and use that to take my position as a leader or.. or... or somethin'." Giving a small grunt, he drew his head away for a short moment, his ears pinned back as he eyed her. She wasn't worried about being seen or anything? About her authority being questioned? What.. how... how could she be so damn caaaaaalm about this? There could be others watching!
But.. then again, this was Nika. She was always right. Always.
Shoving those thoughts aside once more, he leaned to plant a lick on her cheek. "Really now? You suuuure the tribe can run without their almighty elder? Positive nothin' will get 'effed up by the younger members?" A smirk worked it's way onto his face. "Ab-so-god-damn-lutely sure that the storehouse cabin won't be in shambles when you return?~" He had to admit.. being able to tease her and have fun like this was a lot better than being constantly paranoid about punks and authority and all that crap.
