It had been a decent while since Banji had last been in contact with any other lion- the only creature he'd been around for a good amount of time was that wild dog, Rangi... And although she thought she was a lion, her company just wasn't the same as the company of one of his own. It was odd to find him, of all creatures, thinking such things. Timid, shy Banji with his horrid social skills and his small phobia of any creature his size or larger. Hey, after living a life of getting whalloped, that kind of thinking was to be expected. It was even healthy- in his circumstances, that is.

The one and only reverse-zebra patterned juvenile was currently lounging around in the grasses in the prideland, tail flicking back and forth contentedly. There was none other around, so it was one of the only times he could be truly at ease.. He stretched his arms and legs out, yawning widely before simply laying still on his back. It was a warm, sunny day- as usual. He was wishing and hoping, secretly in his heart, that it would rain.

He hoped endlessly that they would be sent rain. Because above all things, Banji loved the rain.

The youth yawned once again before rolling over and lifting himself up haunches first, stretching his rump up into the air languidly. Then he was up, alert, peering around uncertainly. Back on the lookout. He was on the move again.

Kiburi was on her way to say goodbye to her family.

She was trotting across the pridelands with her tail and head held high. She was determined to look strong and brave despite the fear that was creeping into her heart. She didn't want to let herself or her family down, she couldn't bring disgrace to her family, never!

Her pearly coat was a little dusty from lounging around on Priderock a moment before and her golden tipped forepaws flashed beneath her as she walked.

Her tail flicked and her blue eyes turned up to the sky that she loved so dearly. What was she going to say to her family?

With a haughty sigh the lionness continued on, her petite juvenile form easily lost amongst the grass as she travelled towards the waterhole where she had planned to meet her loved ones. It was here that she spotted something lying amongst the grass and paused to get a better look.

"H-hello?" She silently cursed the stutter in her voice.

The young male jumped at the sound of her voice, head whipping around and his startled mismatched eyes focusing in on another lion. Sometime in his shock he'd jumped to his feet and into a somewhat defensive position, fearing a whopping. He relaxed a bit after he saw who and what had come up from behind, letting out a deep breath.

His ears swivelled uncertainly, his timid and shy nature still evident, "Umn... Hullo.." The juvenile rogue glanced around uncertainly, and then after discovering there was no party of giant lions coming to tear him up, he hesitantly sat back down.

It was nice to have company, after all.. Even if it was with a stranger. He managed a small smile, "Umn... Are you a... Pridelander?..." He could sort of tell by her coat.. He hoped she was. Most of the pridelanders he'd met thus far had been more than kind.. Then there was Uumi, but.. He wasn't THAT bad. Just took some getting used to.

She grinned and stepped forwards, a look of pure curiosity on her face. He was looking a little nervous but she could understand why. He was on territory that he wasn't a part of and her mother had told her how dangerous that could be.

"Yup you guessed it." The juvenile said through a smile, head tilted to the side as she gazed at him. What was wrong with his eyes though? She couldn't stop staring at them and didn't understand why they were different colours. It was like looking at two different lions in one body and it was highly confusing.

Why was it that all rogues were jumpy and nervous? Would she be like that when she left? She hoped not...

"I take it you're a rogue cubling." She said, sitting back to gaze at him, "you have funny eyes, how did you get them to be that way?" She giggled.

The cub seemed to relax after detecting her friendly nature- although he scolded himself for starting to open up to other lions so easily... He needed to be careful, after all. He settled back on his haunches, letting out a slow breath, ears flickering a bit. "Umn.. Yeah." He gave a lop-sided smile. He sure was a rogue cub...

He blinked at the mention of his eyes- he'd heard something like that only once before, surprisingly. Probably because most of his other company had been adult lions, and to his knowledge adult lions only asked the same questions... About him being hungry or eating or where he came from... Sometimes about his sister. He didn't mind though..

He shifted a bit as she stared at him, curious as to why she was doing so. He wasn't so used to being stared at, to be quite honest. Well, to be stared at without getting jumped or swatted or bitten.

"My.. Eyes..?" He seemed just more shy now, rather than jumpy. He wasn't nervous anymore, but that didn't change his lack of social skills. "I was born with them like this." He nodded sagely. His tail flicked back and forth behind him.

"Born like it?" She repeated with a swish of her tail as she moved closer to him. "Well I like them, they're pretty. You rogue cubling are pretty!" She giggled and flopped onto her side, turning her head to keep her eyes on him. Already she was meeting someone new and her journey had hardly begun! This surely was a good sign and she'd snatch it up instantly.

"Well." She paused in her speech to roll onto her back in the grass, forepaws moving to curl up against her chest. "I'm going to be a rogue soon! No more boring Pridelander life for this kitty, no way!" She beamed up at him with a wide smile.

"Oh...and I forgot. I'm Kiburi...you can call me Kib." She extended one forepaw as if to tap at the other's nose. "Does the stripey, pretty-eyed lion have a name? Or is he yet another rogue without an identity?"

(Sorry for the wait.)

Banji blinked at that, and then smiled sheepishly, "Ah... Thanks... But.." He tilted his head slightly, ears wriggling, "I always liked the Pridelander's fur... Except Uumi's was different.." He was rather fond of the pale tans and whites that he had only seen in the Pridelands. He thought they looked more... Hm... Elegant. Yeah, that was it.

"You're becoming a rogue?" He questioned curiously, although not skeptically in the least. "Well, it may not be for everyone, but I like being a rogue.. You'll never believe all the things you see and meet." His eyes lit up slightly, "I love travelling."

His eyes crossed as a paw went out towards his nose, and he gave a crooked grin, "Sorry, I'm not that exciting." He shifted slightly, "My name's Banji." His tail swayed about behind him and he took a moment to bat lightly and playfully down towards her. Being around other cubs was good for him.

"Uumi is a pretty lion." Kib beamed, "it's nice to see fur that's different from gold, but yours is more unique than any lion I've ever seen." She nodded and felt herself warm up to the other as he spoke of being a rogue. Now that is what she wanted to hear! That is the life she wanted and craved!

Her heart hammered in her chest as she thought of all the adventures that awaited her and the grin widened on her face as she slipped into a daydream. "I can't wait to become a rogue, it's going to be an amazing experience!"

"That's a nice name, simple, short and cute sounding," she giggled as she tried to duck beneath his paw, feeling it brush against her ears.

"I bet rogues all are amazing colours!" She spoke aloud as she tried to circle him to pounce on his tail, "lions as pretty as the colours of the rainbow!"

The youth's ears lowered modestly as she spoke on his fur, and remained there as she went onto his name. He did, however, take a moment to smile brightly and give a nod at her saying that being a rogue would be an 'amazing experience'. She didn't even know how great it was... This was the life he lived for. But, of course, it had its downsides... Which, actually, outweighed the good points, but he didn't mind. He needed to travel and keep on the move.

"I like your name too- its really pretty." And, of course, Banji believed that every female should be given a pretty name. That was very important. But then again, a lot of things that didn't always matter were always important to cubs, right?

He glanced behind him, tail lashing playfully at her nose before darting away, "I guess... All the ones I've met have dark coats... Except.." He remembered the brilliant color of that gray-silverish male he'd run into, and that male's cub... "Yeah.. There's a lot of different colored rogues. Some of 'em are better than others, I think." He noted sagely.

"But gold is a great color." And he truly believed so.. But perhaps this was one of those 'the grass is always greener' situations.
