Name: Valdi.
Age: 19 Turns.
Gender: Male.
History:
Valdi has always been extremely uninteresting. Average life, usual guard parents, usual everything. There really isn't a single notable thing that happened in all of Valdi's childhood, aside from all those times he got overlooked, but that's beside the point. He's a momma's boy through and through, something that he will never ever mention. Valdi's parents were not involved in his signing up for Whiterider training--that was the first thing he had done solely on his own, and he was rather proud of himself for doing so. His mother, however, was not amused; after all, Valdi was her only son, and she didn't want him to get utterly mutilated by some beast of a dragon that he might not even Impress. His dad, however, was...kind of furious. Sure, it was a pretty high status symbol, the whole being a Whiterider thing--but there was no guarantee. Valdi had a temporary spine from his making the decision himself and refused to drop out, something that certainly didn't please his father any. Despite this, he's actually somewhat enjoyed Whiterider training, and is almost excited for the chance to use his training in an actual situation.
Needless to say, he's probably going to freeze when it actually happens.
Appearance:
Average height and average all around, Valdi is not particularly the most notable person you'll ever meet. His features are unremarkable and it's very, very easy for him to be lost in a crowd, and oftentimes he can go unnoticed for an almost ridiculously long time. Because of this, Valdi often has to wear some sort of ungodly bright fabric just to make sure he'll catch somebody's eye and thus ensure he's noted down. He really dislikes it, though--but ever since his mother tied a particularly eye-searing snatch of orange fabric around his wrist, he hasn't been able to get out of it without incurring her wrath. Woe is he.
His hair is a short, wavy, and light red; his hair being the reason his mom picked that fabric for him.Valdi's eyes are gray, and his hair is kept a good distance from them at all times.
Build-wise, Valdi is, unsurprisingly, average. He looks like he might be squishy, but his Whiterider training has made sure that there is no squishability at all to him. He can get into some tight places and is rather flexible, but he's never really been able to put those abilities to use in any practical situation so far.
Personality:
Valdi isn't really sure about anything. He's very easy to convince to whatever, but changes his opinions way too much to be of any use in an argument or debate. He doesn't talk a lot and tends to stay at the back of the crowd, but don't confuse this for being shy--Valdi really actually loves talking to others. The problem with this is that it takes a lot to get himself noticed, and he's not quite sure if it's really worth the effort. Most of the time, the only thing people remember about him is that Sharding bright orange fabric, and that's what he has to go on when it comes to meeting people for the second time. It's really great trying to strike up a conversation with somebody based on a piece of cloth. Despite this, he does try. Sometimes his efforts are in vain, other times they work.
He's not the smartest Candidate you'll find out there, but Valdi has a memory like a bear trap. He recalls all the little details of things that happened years ago, and this, coupled with the fact that he has to work really hard to get himself noticed, could have set him up quite well for a life of spying or thievery. Being born on the Islands to two guards kind of kills whatever roguish lifestyle plans you had in mind, though--even if he still occasionally daydreams of being a spy. That is something he will always do in his free time. On that note, Valdi is a bit of a dreamer. He lets himself drift off into space when things don't seem to be that important, but when it gets real, Valdi is sure to keep himself well-grounded to the present.
His Whiterider training, amongst other things, has given him a good sense of discipline. Valdi also seems to have another 'mode', in contrast to his usual 'hold on here what' kind of attitude--this is when he needs to be serious. The discipline from his training, along with all the other elements, boiled down into a sort of solid concentration thing. Valdi can't particularly explain it, but he tried once--"It's like everything just kinda clicks into place and I'm on it, just like that."
...He's about as eloquent as he is remarkable.
Is this character being trained as a 'White Candidate'? Yes.
Other: Nope.
