From the UESP. Quote: TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim! December 11, 2010 You have less than a year to get ready with a store of arctic clothing: TES V: Skyrim has been announced by Todd Howard at the Spike Video Game Awards 2010. The announcement involved little more than a short video presentation and the date: 11/11/11 - just eleven months from today. The video seems to tell of the return of the Dragons, and someone called "The Dragon Born". Visit elderscrolls.com/ and you can browse the large stone wall that appears in the video - it has many different scenes depicted on it. You should have acted. They're already here. The Elder Scrolls told of their return. Their defeat was merely delay Til the time after Oblivion opened, When the sons of Skyrim would spill their own blood. But no-one wanted to believe. Believe they even existed. And when the truth finally dawns: It dawns in fire. But, There's one they fear. In their tongue, he's Novak'leen Dragon Born! My reaction was something among the lines of taking off all my clothes and running into the distance screaming daedric and foaming at the mouth.

I'm...not sure whether to translate that as excitement or rage.

I heard that Bethesda sold the rights to the Elder Scrolls franchise. Though, it was from a friend who doesn't really follow the series that well, so I'm not sure its true.

It isn't, I don't think they ever would sell the elder scrolls because it has been on pretty much every list of best video games ever since morrowind came out.

More News Quote: TES V Game Engine December 13, 2010 Previous announcements have stated that TES V would be built on a new version of the Gamebryo engine used in Oblivion and Fallout 3/New Vegas, but a Tweet from Bethesda Community Manager Nick Breckon stated, "We can now confirm that the TES V: Skyrim engine is all-new. And it looks fantastic." A followup answer stated that the engine was "a new graphics/gameplay engine built internally" and that more details would be forthcoming.

Here's hoping they put in more spells and put back in the pollarms. Also being able to fight dragons is going to be epic assuming they don't just have one dragon as the final boss

Anyone else thinking the point of the game is to go and find some way to get crazy awesome fire resistance? Cause on the wall it shows the dragon fire going around what I'm assuming to be the player.
Or they could pull an Oblivion and make the important person an NPC like Martin.

There may be different elemental dragons, such as the Atronachs(sp?) were. The final boss, if a dragon, may be neutral element or something.

Then they would just been pulling a Dungeons and Dragons.
Naa I think all the Elderscrolls dragons will be fire breathers, it just feels right to have all those that share the image of Akatosh to be fire-breathing flying beasts of dispair.
Though I have a sinking feeling that not all the dragons will be evil. That or the enemies won't be dragons at all. The whole plot could be to stop a civil war and the hero him/herself is the only one with ties to dragons.

Pre-order is up on gamespot: http://www.gamestop.com/browse/ProductMerch.aspx?groupid=1166also I found this on the UESP dragon page (which is worth a read) Quote: Dragons are a rare (and often believed to be extinct) Akaviri race of large reptilian beasts capable of flight and the ability to create fire. Little is known about them beyond their remarkable intelligence and ability to communicate with Nedic visitors to Akavir years ago. There are at least two subspecies, or varieties of dragon; red and black. PS, I hope they have some were-creatures in this one. Espeically were-bears. Has anyone else decided what kind of character they're going to play first? cause i have...
