Sailor Scylla fell off the edge of a building.

It was not turning out to be a good night, the black-haired woman decided as she landed in a soft white snowdrift; The gorilla-like youma she'd been chasing hooted at her in mocking laughter from where he stood three stories up and quite beyond her reach. The monkey had been playing games with her all night, the stupid thing. It was a pitch black color, with no definitive eyes, but very definitive gleaming white teeth. "Hoot hoot." she snarled back at it, as it- well, he, probably, only men were this much trouble- let his body fall onto one of the canvas coverings above a window. Nothing solid enough for her to use with her attack. She so preferred to be closer before she used her power. There was just something comfortable in being close enough that the limbs could defend her if the youma was particularly offensive. Which this one most certainly was.

Hoot hoot! the youma cackled, and threw a banana at her. Oh no, she had found out just how they worked; Scylla rolled out of the way just moments before it exploded into banana chunks and something that smelled very much like she imagined monkey poo to smell. You couldn't really smell monkey poo at zoos; they kept the monkeys far enough away from the guests to spare that. The 'gorilla' hit the ground with a crash, swinging his long monkey arms, a heavy fist taking her in the side of the head before he was off again. Scylla groaned and pushed to her feet in the snow, taking off after it as per expectations. She knew why it was running. The hits were meant to disorient, and this was a smarter youma; he probably knew she would reach the limits of her endurance eventually, and was unready to take her hand-to-hand for some reason.

The youma shot past a homeless man, picking up his flaming barrel and flinging it at her as she ran behind him. She ducked; it crashed through a store window. She kept going. The store probably had sprinklers, right? Past an alley, listening to the panicked screams of alley cats as the beast thundered by, followed by her thinly clacking heels. This.. This was getting ridiculous.

This put a completely new spin to 'This is on like Donkey Kong'.

Themis had been doing his usual patrol when the hoots of the youma stopped him - and sure enough, when he looked down, there it was - along with a senshi.

Well, Well.

Themis skidded backward on the roof just far enough to get some momentum - and then he ran and jumped, landing boots first on the thing's back, driving them as deep as possible (through he lacked the heels that were usually seen in his female 'co-workers') and then leaped off just as one large hand went to try to grap him.

"I take it you could use some assistance ?" He offered to the dark-haired senshi at his side.

Hoot! was the youma's startled reaction when a senshi seemed to leap from nowhere to land on his back, sending him tumbling. Infuriated, the beast went to grab him, but the other got away, just as Scylla caught up to them both. "H-Help." She agreed, almost out of breath. She jogged every day, but usually on a path, not over the river and through the woods! Over roof and bridge, and... "Yes, please." It would be most appreciated. She spared a second for half an eye on the newcomer, taking in several things- male; blue eyes-

"Exploding bananas," she warned him, and flung herself bodily out of the way. Where she had previously been, the objects exploded into physically harmless, rotten-smelling chunks. The monkey was turning, now distracted from his game of tag by the entrance of another senshi. He roared in Themis' direction, mouth open to bare his long white teeth, and nightmarish black hands rose to pound on his chest.

Scylla, from where she rolled to a stop, got a good look at gobs of spittle that went flying.

Exploding Bananas ?

Sure enough, when he looked, there was indeed a banana going for their location, and Themis jumped out of the way in-extremis.

These things ? Smelled like s**t.

"Okay, Donkey Kong. Game's over." Themis muttered, glaring the youma down. clearly not very intimidated. This still didn't beat the god damn acid spider.

"You still got your attack ?" He asked Scylla. "I can confuse it, but it won't do it any harm to it. Not directly. I can't move while doing it either." If he could keep the ape confused while the other senshi reamed it, it would certainly be best.

If not, well... He'll think of something else. He was starting to get used to this. One glob of spittle hit right in his glasses, and Themis frowned. Damnit. Gross.

He made his dissatisfaction come across in the form of a brick aimed straight for one of it's eyes.

Jada snorted. "My little sister loves Donkey Kong." she decided to share. "I hadn't made the comparison until now." She'd been thinking more along the lines of King Kong, that one giant gorilla who makes friends with that one actress, and got shot down by planes. She'd always hated the planes, for what they did to Kong, but right now, she was wishing for a jet plane with turrets!

"I've got my attack," she affirmed, seeing the other senshi getting ready. "I haven't had a good, effective chance to use it." she pushed up to her feet, her body posture prepared to start off again at a moment's notice. This Kong was a runner, or had been so far. "Don't worry, I'll do my best to keep him from running."

The monkey roared again, slamming thick fists into the ground, visibly agitated that the boy wasn't backing down- and Scylla had to give the guy kudos for that. She'd backed down real fast when those teeth had gotten in her face!

She was blindsided by the event of a brick going for Kong's eyes. Holy s**t, she thought, as the brick smashed into the youma's face. The eyelid closed at the last minute, but that didn't stop his shriek of pain, not the black blood that erupted from the tender area around the orb. Scylla ducked forward, avoiding the small chunks of cement and exploding bananas that the gorilla chucked around, wanting to get closer to the area of impact.

"I'm ready when you are!" she yelled. "I'm worried about trying to get him before he is disoriented!" That was what the boy had said he could do, right?

And the brick hit it's mark, and the black-clad senshi couldn't help his smirk of satisfaction. He didn't dwell on it, through - it was time to get that thing good and dusted.

"Try to cover your ears if you can !" If she couldn't, well... From experience, it would only be a slight buzzing to her - but still better to at least warn his teammate first. He had to do a quick side-step to avoid a bit of pavement, but then finally ended up somewhere relatively safe, and rose his hand in the air, calling out his attack.

"Themis Noise Amplification !"

It was a good thing using it no longer made his arm want to fall off. Slowly, the area of effect expended around him, hitting the monkey's area just as he was continuing it's tanterum.

Bingo.

After one more smash, it stopped - hooting in a nearly confused manner. Then looked left, right, in all directions he could - as if assaulted by a wave of different noises that it could not pinpoint the source of. It's own noises only made it worse.

"Whenever you're ready." Themis whispered, but with his influence, it came across just as if he'd spoken normally.

Cover her ears? What? Shaking her head, she left her arms at her side, dancing from toe to heel in expectation. It was quite interesting, watching the circle of effect emanate from the other senshi- Themis? The naming of attacks had been truly original, she thought sarcastically. It hit the youma, which stopped, looking confused. What was it do- oh! She clapped her hands over her ears as the circle reached her, and Themis' voice carried to her ears, even with her cupped hands. She didn't need to yell out the name of her attack, so she made sure to murmur it, as she had done in less-stressful combat situations. "Scylla's Hunger!"

The sound of the concrete exploding around the youma must have been maddening to its ears. Scylla dropped her hands- and heard it. Themis' amplification, or maybe her imagination in conjunction with it, made audible for the first time the cry that she'd imagined in her nightmares. The youma roared in challenge as the thick limbs of the Kraken rose to meet it in combat, then shook its head, startled and confused.

Thick hands and sharp teeth, against the twelve thick tentacles sliding into the air around the youma, with the intention that the beast be crushed completely, and thoroughly. "You shouldn't have woken the sleeping monster." she told the gorilla, pleased with herself. The tentacles descended, and the youma tried desperately to defend itself, ripping into them with hands and teeth, thick blue blood squirting over the snow.

Themis remained silent after his one whisper - knowing full well that the more he talked, the more his attack would end up draining him. Still, the look on his face was pretty priceless.

Donkey Kong and the Tantacle Monster. Yep. What a night.

The sound of exploding concrete was indeed agony to the youma - whose's roar only made the whole thing even worse on top of that. It was hard to put up a good fight when you had things nagging at your consciousness from all directions.

Themis stayed right where he was, unmoving beside his own breathing. If her attack didn't finish it, then he'd let it go there and finish it the good old fashioned way. The ripped up concrete was more than enough ammo for him to use, after all.

It did always please her to see the reactions people had to her power. No mater how many times they saw it, it always seemed something new to them. Maybe it was just the thought- the realization- of the power that had once existed in this world. On other worlds too, she thought, remembering the fossil that she had discovered on her home asteroid. Her home, now only 750 square miles of potential landmass. What had it once been, to be home to a creature of such monstrous size and devastation? Why had the beast gotten so large on that world, only to be ridiculed as myth, or compared to the tiny beasts that roamed the seas of Earth, which dwarfed her planet? Ah, but those were thoughts for a time that was not battle.

The boy wasn't moving, holding his position. It could then be assumed that while he was doing whatever he was doing, he was to be considered defenseless, unable to attack while he did so. That was all well and good; Scylla was under no such limitations, and she had a bone to pick with the monster that had been taunting her all night.

She clenched her fists, and the limbs squeezed down on their prey, tightening on it. It was a brief battle of strength as the gorilla-youma fought the strength of two tentacle-limbs shoving its own arms to its side; the battle was won by her power, and the youma beast screamed again as the mouths attached to the suckers on her tentacles clamped on. White teeth flashed again, blue blood squirting onto the concrete. But its struggles were weak, as the black eyes whirled in one direction to the next, distracted by the screams echoing in its ears, the noise of everything amplified.

Scylla was assuming correctly - Themis was, in fact, a sitting duck for as long as his attack was in effect. Moving canceled the attack, and made all of it's effects vanish in an instant, which ultimately meant a waste of energy if he used it at the wrong time - or if he used it incorrectly.

This, however, wasn't a waste of energy at all - the youma was as good as dead at this point, though the toll of his attack was starting to leave it's strain on the normal senshi. "Gotta let go." He whispered, as only warning. He could probably hold it longer, but all the noise was draining him - the more he pushed himself, the less likely he was going to be useless after the fact.

The monkey was more than well-held by Scylla's attack at this point, so Themis did just that - the area of effect crumbling the second he dashed forward - catching one large piece of concrete and aiming straight for it's head.

The other senshi moved at last, and Scylla's tentacles obligingly dragged the gorilla youma toward the ground as the boy dashed forward with a chunk of concrete in hand. "Only a few seconds more." she called to him, to let him know; she was reaching her own limit, since she'd decided to summon all of the limbs at once, to rend and tear at the enemy. She could probably let some go, but several of the limbs were wounded; replacements latched into place and the profusely bleeding limbs were banished below the surface of the ground.

"Hit it!" She encouraged him. The gorilla was thrashing weakly, draining. Ten seconds, maybe less. "Smash it!" she encouraged him. The limbs tightened their grip on the youma, and there was an audible crack as bones finally snapped.

And hit it he did - his makeshift weapon landed it's way right on the monkey's face, followed by a quick kick as he turned around. This resulted into even more satisfying snaps of broken bones being overhead.

And with one more turn, Themis sent the concrete piece crashing down on the youma as hard as he could, hoping that this would be the final blow.

The youma exploded into dust with Themis' final blow; with it went Scylla's tentacles and she let herself plop to the ground, satisfied and tired. Everything in her had been focused until that final moment, and now that there was nothing to fight, she almost felt... lonely. The limbs slid beneath the pavement, disappearing into the rips they had left in the concrete. Scylla was sitting on the ground, almost folded in on herself, holding out a hand expectantly. The male senshi was still standing; it was the gentleman's duty to help the lady stand. Most the time she fought with female senshi, so they didn't count. "Scylla," she said finally, her way of introduction. "Senshi of the Kraken."

Now she had time to examine her coworker. He had pale sandy brown hair, pale eyes, and seemed tall and lean. One never could really tell how tall any senshi was, she thought. Something about their powers always seemed to leave them larger than life. Right now, more than playing at introductions with this other senshi, she wanted to be sitting in a warm place, sipping at some Earl Grey or spiced cider to warm her frozen hands and overworked muscles.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:12 pm

Themis stumbled back onto his feet as he landed, one arm rising in front of his eyes to attempt to protect his glasses from the shower of dust. God damnit, this always happened ! Especially when he was right in front of the exploding youma.

He coughed a bit, shaking his head. If you asked him, Themis would reply that he did not exactly consider himself a gentlemen - it evoked images of things that neither Sailor Themis or Xavier Avery were. But in spite of that, his hand went to Scylla's outstretched one, and he helped her back on her feet.

He never saw it as gentlemanly - he just saw it as not being an a*****e.

"Themis, Senshi of Noise." He answered, his now free hands pulling his glasses off so that he could wipe away what dust had hit them with one sleeve of his fuku.

She had been getting a little annoyed, until the other scout took her hand and tugged her upward. Well, then. Much better. She'd been abut to get to it on her own, since the ground was so very cold. Not, of course, that Jada was anything but a patient woman. Once up, she shook her legs, feeling the muscles clenching in her calves. "Nice to meet you." she told him. Themis would make the... fourth... male senshi she knew. Well, that she could remember off the top of her head. Castor, Foramen, Boreas, and now there was Themis. The senshi of the Kraken shifted her weight, considering. She really did dislike the aftermath of those hefty battles; it always made the eventual meet-n-greet so very awkward. And what was she supposed to do, ask a virtual stranger out for a burger and milkshakes to celebrate a job well done? It was hardly one of those situations where one wanted to just power down and go party away their stress.

.... There was some cash in her purse. Which was on her person. If she powered down. Which she wasn't inclined to, except for the fact that she had a warm jacket on. Her favorite military-style Burberry, in fact, cashmere and wool. And she had boots. And most importantly?

She had pants.

Scylla stamped her feet, looking around. "So," she said finally, and turned on a heel towards the alley, and the dumpster that would let her get to the roof; if Themis chose to follow that was up to him. "It's a little chilly tonight, isn't it?"
