I was taken aback today by a young Christian who informed me that God doesn't utilize Divine healing today because human medicine has advanced past man's need for such...
Blew my mind.
Almost every Christian I know believes God can and will heal people who ask to be healed...
I was just wondering where in the world this thought or idea could come from?
Anyone else hear of such a thing?

So ... god can only cure the more mundane diseases and cancer is a little too much for him to handle?

This seems pretty weird...
God can't cure little illnesses because our medicine is advanced enough to handle such and God can't cure many fatal illnesses because it's out of his all-mighty power?
What on earth.
I guess the guy with the weird skin disease that makes him look like a tree can't be healed because his disease isn't as popular as most diseases, then.

That's also assuming divine healing refers to healing the physical body, I was under the impression it was more of spiritual healing or psychologically getting you into the right mindset to heal. (Kind of like people who experience a ton of stress will have stomach cramps, etc.)

Lateralus es Helica That's also assuming divine healing refers to healing the physical body, I was under the impression it was more of spiritual healing or psychologically getting you into the right mindset to heal. (Kind of like people who experience a ton of stress will have stomach cramps, etc.) So god is no better than an hour with a psychotherapist or a relaxing bath?

It sounds like this kid's parent used it as some kind of excuse. Anger probably. Maybe someone in their family died and the parent was so mad that they turned against Christianity and said this because they were confused about what happened. This is practical because I have seen it and heard of it. People turn against things that were supposed to protect them in times of need, et cetera. People will do it with their own friends or parents.

I have never heard that before, but that is not true, to my belief, God will heal when he is asked to heal, for ex. a non- believer being healed at his deathbed, but a sinner who does not repent, may not be healed, but if he did he may have been healed.
