The skin on the back of his neck prickled, she was still behind him and showed no sign of giving up. Persistent woman, he'd thought at first she must be one of 'theirs' till he'd realized she didn't 'feel' quite right, that she lacked the distinctive marks where they had their star seed 'purified' as the new 'correct' term went. He made his way towards the most populated area he could think of, that, he suspected would slow her down. The christmas lights and balsam wreathes that hung down the main 'drag' of the town, there were only a few displays that also showed blue candles and stars of David. Honestly he didn't care about either, christmas to him just represented an excuse to spend money on others in the hopes that you might get something somewhat palatable in return rather than packs of underwear and socks. Other holidays like...kwanza registered more as 'more reasons to sell cards and stamps' than as religious holidays. He wasn't the least sure he'd make it to the crowds though before she decided to launch an attack, he was sure by now one was coming but wanted to pick his battleground. Best to make the senshi look bad in this season of cameras and pocket camcorders if you could.

Sailor Ares had no intention of giving up any sort of chase, never did. She had been on her way to do some shopping as Ares when she caught a glimpse of a goggle Nega picking through an alleyway. That thought alone would have motivated her to slip into the darkness and henshin up -- but there was something else.
At the Halloween Masque, Ares had been beside the Nega who'd, she thought, gotten the crystal. She only caught a glimpse of him -- black and blue fuku, goggles blowing over his shoulder. But after comparing notes with a few others in BMC, things came together: blue hair, long jacket, smoke attack. Smoke attack? Hah, Ares could relate.
It was just a suspicion, but there was a pinch in her gut at the thought of the boy she'd just spotted holding on to the crystal that she so desired. When he turned into the crowd, Ares followed. She had managed to snag a coat off a park bench from a boy who was too busy on his cellphone to notice it missing. She had pulled the hood up and buttoned it tight, but her gleaming boots were still visible, as was the tiara on her head, should one be looking.
It didn't stop her from pursuing the Nega, not even in the slightest.

It was one of those few times he blessed being short, he felt that on some level it hid him better when surrounded by the masses of people who breached the five foot mark for height. It let him slip through more like a a child than the young man he actually was. He took the liberty of looking behind him and didn't see her at first, coats, coats more coats... not good. Maybe it was just paranoia but he could feel the hairs on the back of his neck rise and he made a small hiss of frustration. He thought he caught a glint of tiara just for a moment and moved away from where he'd spotted it. He just needed to be lost enough for a moment he couldn't afford for her to see. He slipped through a bustling group of shoppers who's angry curses at him and the world as they jostled their packages and debated what the best correct seasonal greeting was chased him, even a few complaining about the christmas carols but it wasn't what he needed, he ducked aside into a niche behind a nativity scene. //crimson crystal power, transform me into an...shopper// he said quietly as he snaked behind the 'barn' trying not to trip on electrical wiring. He hadn't been sure the generic term would work but as he re-emerged from the other side, leaving behind the brief and distinctive flair of power from the crystal, he stuffed his hands in his new pockets, a heavy down jacket in various shades of grey, black hair and god only knew what he looked like in the face given the state of his shoes, they seemed to be beaten up army boots who should have by now lined a dumpster in his own not so gracious opinion. He glanced around with as much ease as he could manage given the heart pounding in his chest.
**follow that you go-go booted b***h** he though with a small smirk. **Now....where -are- you...** He shifted from foot to foot and made some show of looking at his watch and heaving a sigh as though he were waiting for someone to come out of a store he had no interest in.

The crowd was painful to navigate, but Ares kept her mind focused on the blur of dark energy before her. It felt stronger than her -- a Captain, maybe? Perhaps... she was still getting used to distinguishing their energy signatures. The dark pulse was vaguely in front of her, but it was hardly to follow exactly. She stumbled along, pushing where it was necessary, and searched the faces of all that looked her way.
A cloud of people broke the space between Ares and the Nega she was following. The senshi let out a curse, pushing and shoving until she stumbled on to a nativity scene. She stared down at the baby Jesus for a moment and then looked away. Something flared in the air around her -- an invisible crackle of power. What was that? Had he teleported? She had never felt anything like it. The thought of harnessing something like that made her arms tremble.
Without a thought, Ares flew forward toward the last place she had sensed the energy -- and ended up crashing right into a boy with beaten up boots and a heavy down jacket.
(( Ende, would she still be able to sense his dark energy? Or would it be totally gone? Or muted? Or would it just feel different? ))

((Answered via pm)) --- this is Ende who stole the computer and forgot lil was logged in...go me))
The aura was there, as hard to pin point as ever but the flair of 'crimson' energy was gone, whatever it had done it was over... maybe it had left the area... could that short lieutenant have warned whomever had it? Had he sent it away? He couldn't even be seen now in the crowd. The young man she had crashed into stumbled and tried to catch himself on one of the wise-men but ended up pulling it down with him, very nearly on top of himself. "HEY! Watch it!!" He barked sounding outraged and stumbled back to his feet to right the Magi.

Damnit.
There was a faint hum of an aura nearby, but the powerful energy surge was gone. It was impossible for her to know exactly where that Nega officer was anyway. And then there was the whole stumbling into a perfect stranger thing.
"My apologies," she said suddenly, slipping immediately back into the manners of Fallon, the girl beneath the fuku. She remembered suddenly that she was still henshined -- her tiara nearly visible under the hood. Ares turned harshly to the side and straightened the coat to further conceal her obvious senshi form.
It was not nearly as elegant a solution as the one that Zinkenite had concocted, but it did the trick.
Gray eyes flashed in annoyance at the civilian. "Did you see a short boy with blue and black goggles and a long dark coat on come by here? Blue hair." The description was one she had only caught in passing as she tailed him -- was this even the boy who she thought she remembered from the Halloween Masque? Ares couldn't be sure. She just knew that she would go to the ends of the universe if it meant securing a crystal for herself.

((sorry for late post!!)) The shopper blinked at you and gave an odd look. What could you expect when asking after someone wearing 'goggles'. He muttered something about 'Goths' and glanced around, thinking about the other passer buys. "Ah... I ...guess so...." he said with the average sullen impatience of the pre or recently 'pubescent', more concerned with his own place in the world than anyone else who happened to rudely bustle through it and ask questions. "Um...somewhere...well he WAS there..." he said with a derisive lip curl and a shrug. "Eh...someone grabbed him about...there...ish. I think...your kid?" He asked with a glance like he was trying to peel away the layers of her coat. A lecherous grin peeked at the corners of his mouth...

The person before her was behaving oddly, what with all the glancing around, but Ares chalked him up as your run-of-the-mill holiday weirdo. "My kid?" she said, not understanding. God, this was useless. He claimed to have seen someone matching the description, but Ares had seen him precisely where the disguised-Negaverser was pointing.
A soft curse rolled past her lips. "Thanks, I'll ask someone else," she said briskly, immediately marching away from the useless boy.
There was an alley just a bit away. Ares could barely see anyone in the massive crowd -- but rats hid in alleys, didn't they? Might as well look for the Nega there. No doubt she would search every alley for hours for the promise of finding a crystal-holder, regardless of how slim the chance of finding him.

He had to look away to make sure she couldn't see the smirk on his face. She was looking for him, for HIM, and she'd walked right by. It sent a thrill through him that nothing could compare to...and who was he to ignore opportunity when it knocked. He waited till he could just make her out through the crowd and followed, thoughts played through his mind as he followed, a little game, dangerous yes but if she escaped it would not be because of -that-, just his own lack of physical prowess.

The alleyway was just as dark and dank as every other in Destiny City. With all the horrors that took place in those shadows, it was a wonder the city hadn't installed cameras or lights, or even reflective mirrors to allow someone to steal a glance around a corner. They existed in some places, but not all. Granted, DC had much bigger problems than the safety of its alleyways.
Her boots clicked softly against the snow-slick pavement. A brisk gust of wind stirred her long cinnamon hair, creating a cascade of color against the otherwise stark gray surroundings. Then she heard it -- feet following behind her. She stopped walking suddenly and then turned.
It was the boy from before, just a few feet behind her. Ares narrowed her eyes. "Are you following me?" she said harshly. Honestly, she didn't need some creepy guy keeping her from a much more important task, and she sure as hell wasn't above knocking him out if he got in her way.

"Chivalry is not dead?" He said with a casual shrug and stuffed hands into his pockets with a casual stare past her down the alley, and then up along the fire escapes. "Besides... they keep saying the terrorists hang out here." He flashed her a cheesy grin. "You know... Like those freaks in sailor suits, or like Zinkenite who you were just following, but... you know that still leaves... me." He lunged forward sweeping one hand to try and deflect any attacks she might make at his surprise assault, and reaching the other just behind it to reach for her star seed. He was so close... it was pure chance but even that victory would be delicious.

Ares held her defensive stance. If this guy tried anything, she was more than happy to twist his arm and send him flying away from her. She had just begun to take a step forward when the boy's words caught her off guard. "Wait, you know who the boy with the goggles is? You know him by name." Zinkenite. It was a name she would lock into her memory.
The thought of cataloguing that name to the face that was burned in her memory distracted her. The boy lunged, catching her off-guard, but she side-stepped the frontal attack. It did not occur to her that he was trying for her starseed. The person in front of her was a civilian. He didn't have a weapon -- and if this was his uniform? Well, the Negas had certainly lowered their standards.
Bounding to the side, Ares brought up both fists. "Who are you!" she shouted loudly, chasing her words with a left hook. "How do you know the Nega?" Her left hook followed right behind it. She could thank the BMC for some fierce boxing lessons.

"A third party" He shot back with a wicked smile, he liked this anonymity. "I'll play with HIM later, when he figures out I'm watching... but you're here, right now...why wait?" It was so by ear, but it seemed to flow so he just rolled with it. "Pick a name... I'll use it if I like it...but not a swear, those are just rather ridiculous. I think I'll give you a nick name in return would you like that?" He asked jumping backwards far from her fists as he could. He might not be good at delivering punches just yet but a life time of a big mouth had made him fairly good at dodging.

Ares did not like surprises, not in her day-to-day life and not on the battlefield either. She was a masterful fighter, but one that liked to have a plan of action. Here was a variable in this evening that she had not seen coming and was not entirely sure how to approach. But the fighting part? Well, that she could handle.
Her fists missed their mark, and she instinctively cartwheeled backwards to avoid the parrying blow she assumed was coming. But the boy didn't move to strike. He was still talking.
Narrowing sharp gray eyes, Ares lowered her voice to a threatening depth and said, "I don't need your riddles." Who was this person? He did not look like a Nega. She could sense the aura of the Negaverse captain nearby, but the system of feeling energies was not precise enough. The boy in front of her was just as likely to be the Nega as all the people a few feet away in the street.
Her fists remained raised. "How about I just call you dead?" Her boots clicked on the ground as Ares took to the air, one fist arched downward in a slamming punch.

He dodged again, a near miss and lashed out with a booted foot to try and drive her back, just a snap kick, nothing with any true great force just fast... "I can dub you 'Homicidal' then, not that I think you mind, aren't you just a TAD worried that your real quarry is getting away?" He attempted to duck and roll under her back towards the crowd. "You're as bad as the news makes you guys out to be, how dull is that." He taunted.
