Sozin disliked swamps, he decided, staring down at the muddied paws that made disgusting noises as he walked. The swamp was nearby, just beyond the edge of trees that he stood near, but he was reluctant to re-enter. For the moment, he didn't remember why he had even gone into the blasted swamp to begin with. He scowled heavily and hunched his shoulders, flicking his paws and attempting to rub them on the grass beneath him to hopefully clean him. He was not a vain creature, but he disliked his coat being dirty.
He had originally gone into the swamp to chase a prey beast, but the beast had been snatched up by one of those horrid creatures, the crocodiles. He had been unharmed, but his meal had disappeared quickly into the mouth of that disgusting creature. He had to admire the crocodile for it's strength, but it had stolen it's feed. He continued to scowl, a low growl building in his throat at the thought of the creature.

Izdihar had no clue why she had traveled this far today. She didn't recognize anything here and had no clue how to get back. The lioness let out a sigh, as the mud squished inbetween her paws. Making a little face as she stepped on a particularly muddy spot, she quickly retracted her paw the mud seeping deeper into her fur. Izdihar frowned; she just wanted to go home now and wash up.
She looked around, wondering if anyone was here that would give her directions back to the savannah. Izdihar didn't have to look that far, she noticed a red and white figure not too faraway, and upon closer view realized it was a fellow lion. The lioness smiled, glad she had found someone here. Squelching her way over to him, she called out, "Oh hello there, kind sir! I was wondering if you knew the way back to the savannah?" she smiled at him, her tail swishing back and forth with happiness and relief.

Velveteen Angel Sozin had gotten some of the mud off, but it seemed to be replaced by more mud whenever he attempted to move. Scowling, this mud was doing very little to improve his already sour mood. However, when a sweet sounding voice called out to him, he almost smirked. Oh, what fun! A play thing. He turned towards the noise, glancing over the figure of the lioness who was approaching, almost snorting at the words 'kind sir'. If only she knew. He bit back the smirk, spotting what could be a fun game. “Ah, fair maiden,” he called back, his voice smooth as honey. He knew how to act, snickering inside while being perfectly polite outside. “Have you lost your way?” She had asked for directions back to the savannah. He knew the way, but what fun would that be. It wasn't that hard to find the savannah from there. “Of course, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.” Straight to the swamp. Perhaps she would meet the same fate his prey did. It's a pity he wouldn't get to see it, as he had no desire to return to the swamp himself Gekokoko Izdihar nodded, "Yes I have. Seems that I wandered too far from my home." she let out a little laugh at her foolishness. "Oh thank you so much! I very much appreciate it!" the lioness gave him her best 500 watt smile, wanting him to know just how grateful she was for showing her the way home. "Pardon my curiosity sir, but are you from around here?" she had never seen anyone like him where she was from, so it was a possibility. "Ah!" she had almost forgotten in her relief, "I'm Izdihar by the way. May I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" she looked at him, her face reminscent of an innocent cub. Velveteen Angel He resisted the urge to snicker. Wandering away from home? How childish. She was like a cub. He plastered a fakely sympathetic expression on his face, nodding to her comment. “Oh, it's no problem, miss,” he said, with his own smile. It was always odd to see. He could smile like anyone else, but it was lacking that honest touch that hers had. “Me?” He said. “Oh, no. I'm a wanderer, I don't really have any specific place that I'm 'from'. I'm just from everywhere.” He winked at her playfully. “It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Izdihar. My name is Sozin.” He bowed his head to her. He never gave fake names. If they were going to curse him later for his actions or what he had done to them, they had better know the right name, else it was rather useless to curse him, wasn't it? He smirked as his head was bowed, but as it lifted, his face had smoothed out into that pleasant smile. Gekokoko "You don't know how grateful I am." she said again. Now she could go home and wash up and just go to sleep until morning. Just that thought was enough for Izdihar to be gleeful. "It's very nice to meet you Sir Sozin." he bowed back at him as well. 'What an extremely nice lion.' she thought, watching the male in front of her. Wow, was she lucky to meet someone as nice as him in a place like this. "So from where might I be able to reach the savannah?" she asked, peering around. Everywhere she looked, the whole place looked the same so she was completely lost on this. Velveteen Angel He smiled. She was just so...easy. This wasn't even really a challenge. She would probably not even think to run if he reached out his claws and hit her, or attacked. But he wasn't really in that sort of mood. He liked his play things with a bit more fight in them. He hid a sigh and shook his head, glancing around as if trying to place which direction the Savannah was in also. But he wasn't sending her towards the savannah. “I'm afraid that the only way to the Savannah is through the swamp,” he said sorrowfully. “I would offer to escort you, Miss Izdihar, but I would likely get you more lost within the swamp. Worry not, there is little in there that will harm you, except perhaps a territorial feline or two.” And the crocodiles. Don't forget those! He thought gleefully, keeping his sorrowful expression in check.

Gekokoko "Through the swamp?" the lioness frowned in worry, she had always been told not to go through there...but if it was to get back home, then she had no choice. "Only felines...?" Izdihar looked at him doubtfully, "I heard there were crocodiles in there too..." she had heard stories from her parents when she was a cub, to be wary of those horrible monsters. They would not hesitate to to snap up a lion or five for lunch. Well since he was a wanderer and all that, he must be new to the place so he wouldn't know about those crocodiles. So she would have to explain for him, "The crocodiles in there eat lions like us for snacks." she said matter-of-factly. Velveteen Angel “Crocodiles?” He repeated, as if he had never heard the word before. “Oh, those old superstitions. I have travelled the swamp many times, and never once have I ran into them! I think they were just old mothers trying to stop their cubs from disappearing into the swamp and having too much fun,” he winked playfully again. “Trust me, there's only a few grumpy felines in there. But, if you're not that eager to get home, I suppose you could always keep walking and hope you stumble across another way to your home.” He said slowly, as if it was a pity and she would be walking for a long time. To be honest, it was only a little way down the track, away from the swamp, before the savannah came into proper view and the trip from there was easy, but that was not even slightly as much fun. Gekokoko "A-are you sure...?" she tilted her head in disbelief. So...up until now, her parents had been telling her that story so they wouldn't play in the swamp? Izdihar shook her head, her parents weren't like that. They wouldn't just make up a weird story like that. Or would they? She looked at Sozin in the eye, wanting to confirm this information, "And this is true?" she asked again, wanting to make sure it was true. "Oh no no no!" she shook her head vigorously, "I've been here for a for such a long time, I wouldn't want to wander around here anymore." she looked sad for a moment, truly regretting her folly to adventure in here. "Where are you headed to, kind sir?" perhaps she could just follow him out and try to see if she could get home from there. Velveteen Angel He met her eye boldly. He didn't know if they would give away the lie, but they hadn't done before, so he smiled sadly. “I'm afraid so, miss. Seems like you were duped just like the other cubs in the area. I've honestly never seen a crocodile in the swamp.” Oh, what lies. He had seen one not half an hour prior, but really, if he told her, she never would go in there and would never – hopefully -get eaten by the crocs. At her question, he paused. Damn. Where could he say he was heading, so that she wouldn't follow him and realise his lies? Ah! “To the ocean, miss,” he said earnestly. “I have some relatives there I want to visit. I am sorry that I can't assist you further in getting you home. I was raised to always walk a lady home, but I simply can't this time.” He looked apologetic. Gekokoko "Oh..." her ears drooped low, "So it was a lie then." she nodded, but found a reason to smile again. That means that the walk through the swamp wouldn't be as dangerous then. If the crocodiles didn't exist, then she would be safely home in an hours time. Izdihar shook her head, "Oh no, it's perfectly fine. I'm not much a lady anyways." she laughed sheepishly, "Everyone always calls me more a cub." which sadly was, true. Everyone had always told her that she was too kind, too naive to everything in the world. "I'm sorry if I'm being a burden." she said suddenly, feeling slightly guilty. Not many lions would be willing to deal with her folly like this, "I must be quite frustrating, huh?" she made a move to sit down, but remembered just in time that she was surrounded by mud and that simply wouldn't do. Velveteen Angel “Oh no, you're more of a lady then you give yourself credit for,” he assured her, lying through his pearly white teeth which he showed to her as he smiled. “And not frustrating at all. Your presence is most welcome, especially in this rather unappealing landscape.” Why didn't she just leave, already? Then he could content himself with the knowledge that she would disappear, hopefully forever, in the swamp and into the jaws of some disgusting beast and he wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. She was right. She was like a cub. And cubs were not something which Sozin enjoyed being around. Useless, weak things they were. Though this childish creature did serve a purpose. Giving him some entertainment and brightening his mood a little. Plotting tended to make him far more cheerful. He smiled again. Gekokoko "You're just being nice now." she said, a small blush of appreciation forming in her cheeks. Izdihar's tail swished, her head tilted, "You really think I'm pretty?" the lioness smiled, looking more like a small cub by the minute. "So...the way back to the savannah is...that way...?" she pointed in the direction that would lead further to the swamp. "I just go straight and I'll be home, right?" she looked to Sozin for confirmation. Velveteen Angel “Pretty?” He repeated. “No, you're not pretty.” He smiled flirtatiously at her. “You're far more then pretty, and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar.” He bowed his head to her. “As a wanderer, I have seen many females and you, miss, are far better looking then they were.” Perhaps he was laying it on a bit thick, but he didn't think she would really notice. She was so naïve, she probably wouldn't even realise he was just trying to get her to trust him so she would just get into the swamp already. “Indeed it is, Miss. You'll be home before night fall if you go straight through,” he said smoothly, nodding his head firmly, to convince her. Gekokoko "Wow...really?" her eyes might've been stars at this point because she was totally falling for every last bit of it. "You're too nice Sir Sozin. I hope wherever you go, good fortune falls upon you." Izdihar smiled at him one last time before she tread out into the deeper part of the swamp unknowingly. "Thank you so much!" she called out, giving him one last look before she focused on the task at hand. Get out of this swamp with as little mud possible. Never in a million years would she have guessed that Sozin was fooling her. She would never know that the lion was just leading her to death. Velveteen Angel Sozin watched her go with an amused expression on his face, not bothering to call out his farewells to her. He had given her a smile when she glanced back, which fell away to a smirk. Watching as she disappeared into the swamp, he chuckled. “Idiot,” he said, voice rather cold compared to the warm tone he had used earlier with her. He shook his head and turned away without any tingles of guilt that he had led her towards death. It was her own fault for being so gullible! He chuckled, and moved off, heading towards the Savannah the safe way, away from crocodiles and other nasties. He did so love being evil, he thought, his mood significantly brighter then before.

The lioness continued straight on, looking around the place, as she couldn't help but feel a little scared. It was getting a little darker because it was probably almost sunset, and because the trees here were blocking the sunlight.
She walked more slowly now, noticing the mud she was stepping in was making her sink in deeper and deeper little by little. Izdihar frowned, not liking that sticky wet mud inbetween her paws. "Blech." she said aloud to herself, never again would she venture in here. It was too much work. And much too dirty. The lioness suddenly found herself treading in shallow, muddy water. "Hm?" she realized as she ventured in a few feet, that it was slowly getting deeper. She frowned. She wasn't a great swimmer to begin with, and who knows just how long this body of water was?
Though, she really didn't have much time to dwell upon her decision. For just as soon as she set her paws upon the water, a pair of beady, reptilian eyes were staring at her watching her every move. Suddenly with a great splash, three crocodiles suddenly appeared speeding towards the lioness. Izdihar noticed this, catching a glimpse of gigantic sharp and jagged teeth and a gigantic reptile body, she immediately splashed out of the water, running as fast as the muddy ground would let her, back the direction she had originally come from. But crocodiles weren't supposed to exist! Her golden eyes were wide open with fear as she didn't stop running, mud splashing all over her coat.
She had run for what seemed like an eternity, and by that time, her breath had run ragged and without hesitation slumped down onto the swamp floor, trying to catch her breath. What had happened? Sozin had reassured her that crocodiles didn't exist. But then again...she remembered back to his words. He was a wanderer. He must've accidentally mixed his facts. The lioness would have to tell him that these swamps indeed have crocodiles. She sighed, for now she would just rest and find another way back home after she caught her breath.
