Aira had left his home a few weeks ago. He knew that leaving would devastate his mother, because his little brother Hazumi was leaving at the same time, but he needed to get away from the keep. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the company there, it was more that he wanted to see what else was out there. Caledonia just wasn't the tribe for him, he needed to spread his wings, per se, and find his real home.
Therefore here he was walking through the forest with no set direction, merely heading north. He figured that eventually he would run into some sort of civilization where there were other foxes.

Tamotsu was ferreting around for his meal for the day. The kit had no family to speak of and had to raise himself. He didn't really mind though, quite content with his lot.
Today's menu was mice. Even if Tamo couldn't find the adult their nests sometimes had babies. Sure he felt a little bad about that, but food was food. And it wasn't like the mice population in the forest was suffering any for his efforts.
He was digging at the earth, occasionally stopping to listen for any telltale squeaking or scurrying that would give his prey away.

Aira stopped as he heard the distant sound of scratching. Intrigued by the noise, he turned and ventured into the opposite direction. Once he rounded a tree he spotted a young orangish-red kit who appeared to be digging a hole for some reason.
Bemused by the act, Aira leaned against the nearest tree and observed him while he sat.

Tamo heard a fairly loud thud through the earth. Too much of a vibration to be a mouse. He lifted his head, face smudged with dirt, and spotted a purple male fox. He fixed the male with a stare from one of his giant black eyes, then grinned.
"Hey mister, if you see a mouse can you hold onto it for me? They have holes all over the place around here." And then he went back to his digging.

Aira cocked his head to the side as he watched the kit. He was surprised that the child was frightened to be in the same clearing with a strange adult. The kid must either be brave, or incredibly stupid. Either option intrigued him further at the moment.
"Mouse...." he repeated it monotone. The kit was hunting mice? Well that wasn't going to be very filling for him. But it was none of his business what the kid ate. But still, for some reason it bothered him. Maybe the main reason was because he was just a kit.
Sighing he looked to the side and saw that there was a mice crawling up a tree, so he walked over there and captured the creature before it had a chance to scurry away. "Hey kid...."

Tamo looked up, face even more streaked with dirt. "Wow, thanks mister," he chirped. He walked over, seized the mouse and, with a sharp shake of his head, broke it's neck. He started eating it, though being a big kit now it didn't take long before the thing was a pile of fur and bones.
"They don't fill you up real easy, but they're not hard to catch," he said by way of explanation, looking up at the stranger. "I'm Tamotsu."

Aira watched the kit eat the food ravenously, "Mm...." His tail twitched behind him. "Airashi..." He introduced himself, "Why don't you try to capture something larger?" He wasn't normally talkative around strangers, but the question had been nagging at him since he stumbled upon the kit.

Tamo shrugged. "Well mice are just easiest. I could try to chase squirrels or rabbits, but they're a bit harder to take down. I like to see if there's an easier option open first." There was an aura of cheer and content around the kit. He didn't say it like he was lazy but more like he was just to content in the moment.

"I can see the wisdom in that...." He nodded his head, he continued to look around, "Are your parents around here?" He turned his attention back to the kit, and wished that he hadn't asked such a senseless question. This is exactly was why he rarely spoke unless he knew the individual well. "I...Mm....forget i said anything...." He looked away, "Would you like some berries that i picked earlier?"

"Berries would be nice," Tamo said, giving Airashi a grateful grin. "And don't worry too much about the parents question. I just don't have 'em. Don't know where they went or why. So I'm pretty much all on my own." Tamo sat and put his face between his paws, scrapping at his muzzle in an attempt to rid himself of all the dirt he'd accumulated in his digging quest.

Aira was relieved, the last kit he asked that question, the kit had burst out crying. And he really didn't want to deal with that kind ideal again. This kit though seemed to have a handle on things, he didn't whine or beg for food, there was no sop story about his family.
His stats were steadily increasing in Aira's book. "here...." He pulled the berries he had picked earlier and set them on the ground for the kit. "You don't have anyone out here looking out for you?"

Tamo had already bent and had a berry in his mouth. He waited 'til he swallowed to answer the question posed to him. "Nope. I'm just kinda goin' along at my own pace and makin' the best with what I have. No use whining about it, doesn't change my situation." For a kit his face was quite serious as he spoke. Tamo bent and continued eating the gift of berried Airashi had given him.

Aira smiled, something he did very rarely. This kit sure was unusual, but in a good way. He acted more like an adult then a kit, but then again he probably had to grow up faster so that he could take care of himself. "Well.....i was planning on traveling through the forest.....you'd be....more then welcome to follow me if you wish."
He looked down at the kit, "I'm a fair hunter.....I could keep you feed till we part ways...." For some reason he wanted to help this kit, maybe it was because he reminded him of himself a little.

"That would be nice for a bit," Tamo said, giving Airashi a smile. "I don't meet many adults that would bother with a kit not their own. Your offer is quite nice." Tamo had only run into two other adults, so he didn't have a large basis to compare by. But by nature most foxes weren't parent figures, so he did his best not to expect anything. One always got more plesant surprises that way.

Aira rolled his shoulder in a shrug, "I'm not most adults...." He stood up and walked over to the kit, "Come on...." He inclined his head toward the forest, "It would be better to travel a little further before the sun sets.....I know a river that nears by....I can teach you how to fish if you don't know already."
He turned to walk off, but kept an eye on the kit behind him to make sure that Tamotsu was following him.
