Yay! I hope I don't have any negative reactions to it. sad

Also I feel like such a badass because it is called Portia, like the character from Merchant of Venice. Yeaaaaah.

Are you on the Pill right now? Have you/do you experience(d) any side effects?

I've been on it for like, 3 years.
No weight gain, nothing physical that I ever noticed.

I like how nicely it regulated my periods.

I've been on it for about a year total, never had any negative side effects, other than spotting like once or twice. I'm not having sex so it was just for regulating my periods, but it has done so beautifully.

The pill made my life ten times better. My periods are awesome, the only problem is that I forget to take it a lot ...

The pill made my boobs explode 3 sizes. They weren't small to begin with.

I was sent to the vet so I don't need the pill anymore.

I keep forgetting mine, and I'm getting tired of refillign prescriptions. I'm going to push for an IUD next month, and broach sterilization, see if I get patronized and talked down to hell for it. If some of the boards I've been on are telling the truth, gynos can be extremely demeaning and 'no-you-don't-I-know-what's-best-for-you' towards women who don't want kids and want to be sterilized.

And lol before you say anything, we like never have d**k in vag sex anymore, so no, not worried about being preggo.

It did make my periods lighter though, but that freaked me out enough to have a moderate anxiety attack until I was able to piss on a stick and see it was negative.

How does your lover feel about you sharing that tidbit of information with us? LOL

So, you're definite you don't want kids ever? I guess I can see that. Just never really thought about it. And yes gynos get a little "you don't know s**t" because it's such an invasive surgery and is MUCH harder to reverse than a vasectomy. I'd tell the lover to get it done first lol. But I also find it irritating that birth control and the responsibility of it is largely on the woman's shoulders, as if having a d**k excludes you from doing anything but playing around without consequence.

I take Mirena. At first it hurt like a b***h and I was like OH GOD GET IT OUT. More than a month later, it was fine. I have no period at all. Sex is great. 99% effective, and I dont have to take it everyday!

Tiny. About the size of the rollerball on my Blackberry.

O
^That's about the size of mine. It may be a little bigger, but that's the easiest thing I could think to compare it to.

He doesn't care, I'm sure. I already posted a bawww thread about it a while back while I was PMSing. We're pretty much in agreement that we want to spend our lives together. He does not like young children at all. I like older kids, but I don't want to be a parent.

There are alternatives for a TL, such as Essure and it's alternative for people with nickle allergies, Adiana. Both are non surgical, fallopion tube implants that cause scar tissue to grow and seal off from the uterus.

I did want kids for a while, I talked about it a lot here actually. I had plans to just go get IV by the time I was 30 (now) if I wasn't married or dating anyone.

Then I discovered that the two girls I grew up with, best friends for eons and eons, met when we were all little 7 and 8 year old girls started having kids, and it wasn't 'oops, I'm pregnant, better get married and do this thang.' It was 'met, fell in love, married, lived together, made mutual decision to start a family'.

It just weirded the hell out of me and instead of being jealous or happy for them like I thought I would, I found myself realizing I was glad it was them and not me. I felt we were still too young, it was too soon...then I realized we were in our late twenties and no...we WEREN'T too young and it wasn't too soon, especially for them!

I also started having a lot more contact with young children in my mid to late twenties, and it started sewing a lot of seeds of doubt.

Even when I wanted kids, I always dreaded the newborn/infant and toddler stages. It was kind of a slow realization on my part. I'm not hugely comfortable with babies and toddlers, and prefer that someone else be in the room with me around them incase something happens, like they start crying and can't tell me why or need a diaper change. I never babysat or had younger siblings or cousins growing up. My only cousin growing up is 2 years younger than me.

So interacting with yougn babies and toddlers is ok, but as long as someone else is watching and taking care of them that actually knows what they are doing. Crying babies don't immediatly make me want to nurture and comfort. It makes my neckhairs stand on end and makes me cringe and ball my hands into fists.

My birth control pills are absolutely TINY by the way. But I've had pretty severe sexual side effects, inability to self lubricate, orgasm, loss of sex drive, etc. This is mostly the reason why I want to get off hormonal BC. I'd like to get Paraguard, which is the copper IUD. It lasts up to 12 years too. Niiiiice. I'll be in my fourties by then.

I mostly want to ask about sterilization just to see what my doctor would say, out of curiosity. I haven't decided on it yet. I'm not ready for surgery yet.

So don't get me wrong. I like kids, especially older kids. They are amusing people, they can be a blast to have around, fun to talk with, fun to teach new things to, exciting personalities, but I'm way more comfortable being the aunt, than being a mom.
