Ha! Japan doesn't celebrate Christmas. rofl Where do you live? It is celebrated. People just do it in different ways.
It is just very commercialized, the reasons behind it are lost, and most people don't know why they should care about "Santa-san".
It is a date-holiday, and for kids. If someone asks you to spend Christmas with them it is because they really like you... or are possible just a child. : P
Also, KFC fried chicken is what most Japanese people think Americans eat on Christmas... no idea how that started.
