"Would you just find me someone?"

The handsome green lion was irritable... frustrated, even, in more ways than one. Not only was his newfound relationship with Wemusa proving to be more tedious than he had prepared himself for, he had also gone, in his opinion, plenty long enough without meeting a proper lioness. And, after all, he was [i[only a lion, and he only had needs to fulfill.

But it wasn't really just the sex. No, that was something any lion needed once in a while, but for Msiba there was also the thrill of the chase. An odd adrenaline rush of sorts always accompanied the intricate process of working his way into somebody's pants, not to mention the ego boost, and that was only one of the things he sorely missed about female company. They always seemed to fall for his words, no questions asked, that was some strange kind of magic in and of itself.

"No, I don't care who it is," The lion grumbled as the vulture asked, for the third time in as many moments, an erroneous question. "All I'm asking you to do is fly up, spot a lioness, and point me in the right direction. Is that really so difficult?" He was coming to the end of his tether when it came to Wemusa. What had begun as a business deal simply wasn't working the way he had wanted it to, and either some major changes would have to take place, or he would just have to be rid of the bird, no matter how he had to do it.

A lioness just happened to be in the area. Nkosazana had finished her patrol then headed deeper into the rogue lands than she normally went. It felt like weeks that she had been searching for a suitable male. Of course she'd come across several, but none of them had met her exacting standards. Disappointed in the male company close to home, she had decided to venture deeper.

Perhaps now she would find a lion suitable to sire her cubs. Her familiar, Jiang, flew over head. Not only did he scout (both for game and guarding), help her during patrols, but he was proving invaluable in spotting males from afar. She was pleased that more often then not, she knew a male was nearby before he noticed her.

At that moment, Jiang's familiar scream cut the air. Nko grinned to herself. He'd spotted another one. She picked up her pace and started to follow her bird's shadow.

Wemusa's haughty cry alerted the pale lion as the vulture came flapping back with indignation evident in his face. Flying the skies in search of suitable partners was his job, albeit a less-than-welcome one, and that some silly falcon had the nerve to intrude on his turf clearly irked the lanky bird.

"But as least you found something." Msiba remarked indifferently. It was about as close to a compliment he was willing to give the vulture, and one that Wemusa reluctantly accepted. Beggars couldn't be choosers, after all, and much as he tried to pretend otherwise, he was, for the most part, rather desperate for the lion's approval. Their cohesion when it came to their partnership was imperative--Wemusa was aiming for bigger, better things and Msiba was just the lion to take him there.

"Well, show me then," Msiba prompted, to which the bird shrugged and informed him that the lioness was on her way and that he would see her soon enough anyway, thanks to her dratted bird. The pale lion returned the gesture. "So she's coming to me. Works just as well, eh? Maybe there'll be some begging involved."

Clearly, he wasn't the only one on the prowl today. This was all starting to remind him on the last decent encounter he had had with a lioness. That silly gray creature had flat-out asked him for his services, and if he hadn't been so convinced that the game of hard-to-get would have gone right over her head, he would have drawn out the suspense a little more.

As it was, she had seemed dumb as a brick, and rather than risk losing the precious opportunity, he had complied. It wasn't like it was a bad deal for him, anyway.

So the lion sat, stretched himself out into the shade under the bright sun, and waited.

The lion that Jiang was tracking seemed further away than Nkosazana thought. For a moment she feared he was heading away from here. After a short time though, the wind carried his scent to her. Oh good, she wasn't in for a chase. Nko slowed to a walk.

She had several reasons behind this. First to catch her breath. Second to approach this unknown lion slowly. She didn't know what kind of receptive mood he'd be in. Lastly, she wanted a good look at him from afar. If he wasn't up to her standards from far away, she'd certainly pass him on by.

Nko felt the ground under her paws as she walked and approached a tree. She spotted the white and green lion that was resting beneath it. He seemed strong and healthy. Stopping she waited. Her tail twitched side to side.

He had rolled onto his back, bored by the wait, when suddenly, his inverted vision caught sight of a figure. It took him a moment to make sense of it, the sudden reddish thing that had appeared before him. It was still some ways off and-- Oh. Right. That must have been her.

Unconcerned, the pale lion completed his turn and lay stretched out on the ground for a moment, before shifting back into a position of better control, drawing his legs back underneath him. So he could run, if he felt the desire to. Not that... that was a great concern of his at the moment.

She was pretty, to say the least, and there was something about her--must have been the way she carried herself, or something--that gave off an aura of authority. Though perhaps he was simply imagining it. She was still far off, he reminded himself, and first impressions were difficult to make at these distances.

There was a lustful desire in the lion that made him want to rise, to hurry up and close the distance already and get right down to business. But by some virtue of sheer will, he stayed his paws and rested where he was, watching her and waiting. If she wanted something, she would have to come and get it.

He certainly didn't seem worried by her being there. It was a slight improvement over the last one. Confidence. One point for him. However, it wasn't only confidence she was considering. Nko was ready to try him up close.

With her head held high, she moved easily forward. Her pale purple eyes intent on him. Nko had to admit he did hold a certain attraction. She hid her grin, thinking he'd have to do more than that to convince her.

Nko came within talking distance then sat down. She didn't wait to be invited. Her tail curled neatly around her feet. Start simple. Nko pondered a different method than those she'd tried previously. One had ended badly, and the others hadn't gone as she'd planned. She chalked it up to inferior males.

"Hello." This time she'd inciate the greeting, and let him bring up the real subject at paw. She put on a polite friendly face.

He sat and waited, watching her every move with careful, scrutinizing eyes. Much as he liked to think that he picked and chose the females that he pursued, the truth that he and everyone around him knew was that he would just as willingly get it on with a three-legged lioness as he would anyone else. Any refinement, be it physical, emotional or otherwise, was just icing on the cake.

But it was some icing.

He watched her approach, his eyes as fixed on her as hers were on him. She held her head aloft, moving with what he thought was a proud, almost haughty stride toward him, as if she was used to dealing miscreants and knew full well which creatures were below her.

And Msiba was not one of those.

He knew how to appreciate a strong, authoritative lioness when the opportunity provided itself. There was nothing wrong with a meek, willing little female that would fall head over heels for him and cling to his every word, but there was something oddly... stirring about a lioness who knew how to take charge get what she wanted from him. So... very stirring.

The pale lion took a moment to swallow his anticipation. Now, now, he cautioned himself. Don't get too worked up. It wouldn't do to let the snake out of its cage before the opportune moment.

Slowly, he pushed himself into an upright position, still watching her, but there seemed to be little question between them as to where this was going to go. Provided everything went... accordingly, of course. He wasn't sure what she was looking for, but he didn't very well care. There wasn't a thing in the world he couldn't deliver, not when it came to this and lionesses.

He inclined his head in response to her greeting, studying her up close before replying verbally. "Hello. Now what's a fine lioness like yourself doing alone, out in the rogue lands?"

Nko liked what she saw more and more. He was strong, confident, and proud. Nor did he seem to fear her approach. She might have actually found a lion worthy to sire her cubs. Her mind made a note to reward Jiang well if this one proved worthy.

Nko grinned to herself. What a perfect opening he'd given her. This could just work out. With his first move made it was her turn. She almost preened when he called her a fine lioness. Clearly he knew.

"It would be rather difficult were my older brother along." Her eyelids slower slightly in a coy manner. Haha, as if she'd bring her brother along for this! He'd certainly have no taste in male lions and she wouldn't be stuck with his choice.

"You see, I am searching for something." Now how far to take this; to get her point across and yet not scare him off. Nko wasn't sure he'd be that easy to scare. "There are no suitable males within my pride." There that was fair, she thought. Now to see if he figured it out; she rather suspected he would.

"Ah," he nodded slowly. He could see where this was headed.

It almost seemed like deja-vu, except she was certainly less blunt about it than Manyara had been. Truth be told, he almost wondered what the silly gray lioness had done after their little... business deal. It seemed a strange thing to be doing, looking for cubs intentionally. Msiba himself had never particularly enjoyed the company of young children, though his sister clearly did, and any that he brought home, he brought only to make Mchawi happy in her desire to play mommy.

Still. Perhaps it was a lioness thing. He didn't presume to understand the depths of the female mind, though he did pride himself on recognizing some of its key workings.

"But I don't suppose there would be," he began, choosing his words carefully. It didn't seem like she would be any easier to scare off than he, but it always helped to exercise caution. "Beauty deserves the very best, no?" And here, at least, he wasn't lying. Beauty was certainly the word he would have used to describe her, even if he didn't have... ulterior motives.

Nko's hope soared for a moment. He understood! The best part was he appeared willing to co-operate if she was reading him right. She actually ducked her head a moment when he asked if beauty deserved the best. What could she say to that?

"Well, I do have standards that no one in my pride has met yet. So I came out here looking. I was hoping that the rougher conditions would have bred a strong lion to do the job." Her look at him asked plainly if he was a strong lion worthy of being a sire.

With her invitation open to see if he would take it, now was the time for the other part. Nko flicked her tail slightly. "My pride is very protective of their cubs. We wont let them get cub-napped." She hoped that that made it clear enough. As long as he didn't want anything to do with them, it would be perfect.

Rougher conditions. The notion made the pale lion smile grimly inside. If she had known anything about his past, this pretty lioness, no doubt she would have turned and fled as far away from him as she could possibly get. But Msiba himself made no excuses for what he had done in his life, or what he would do in the future. Long ago, he had come to terms with the fact that the world he inhabited was a cruel, selfish place and he did what he had to do to get by.

What he did to survive, though, had little to do with this. She was looking for a worthy partner, and no doubt she had found one (humility had never been Msiba's forte). So they could do what they both needed to do, and go their own ways. It would be a brief encounter, he realized, and one that he would likely forget in the years to come, but that was alright. Today was today.

"I suppose you've come to the right place, then," he replied, dropping all pretenses for a moment, if only just to seal the deal. Whatever cubs resulted from their meeting would be strong, healthy cubs. He thought back to Umfana and Ilizi, the two cubs he had brought back for Mchawi to mother. He didn't deny that he perhaps showered the latter with more love, but only because she looked so very much like his sister and his late brother. She was family, in all senses of the word, and even though she was only a little hybrid, every day she made him proud. He would die before he would admit that aloud.

"That's alright," he added, in response to her last comment. "I've never much cared for cubs." He would have liked to return and bring one back for his sister, but sometimes circumstances just didn't allow it. And that was alright. He didn't meet every lioness with the hopes of bringing home a souvenir.

It didn't matter much to Msiba, one way or another. Not when he was so close to getting what he wanted, and he was a guy, after all. He would have agreed to just about anything.

Nkosazana gave a smirk. "I think I have." Yes, he would do. Finally, she'd found what she was looking for. In a definitive move she rose to her feet and led him toward a secluded area were the deal could be sealed in private.

(Just a little something to finish it off. XD )
