I have started playing with watercolors, and although my style is more of an "American comics mixed with Japanese manga" type style, I think it would be kind of fun to create some more "artsy" type pictures. The problem is that there is hardly any good watercolor tutorials out there. Does anyone know where I could find one? :/

In my experience with water colors, it's not something that can be taught. You have to feel it. Did that make sense lol?

You can spend several hours a day for several days watching that dude on PBS demonstrate the paints and techniques but in the end when the time comes to do it yourself, you can only go where the paint takes you.

Just keep playing around with them. Try different color combinations, using wet and dry brushes, using wet and dry canvases/papers, ect. . . you'll get the hang of it on your own.

The best way to start practicing is to put out a still life and draw it with your watercolors. For that particular medium, I really like using flowers, fruits, or anything really colorful.

One thing I can say about watercolors, though, is that if you're starting off, try to use a thicker paper. A good paper can withstand pretty much anything you throw at it. The Moleskine Watercolor sketchbook is also pretty ideal, it's got the thickest paper I've ever used (it can withstand strain from both sides of the paper!).

Also, here are a few tutorials I found immensely helpful.

well with watercolors is alot of layering in the coloring by adding paint little at a time to build on the shading.
