“Self-education” – Who says you can’t learn anything from television? Unfortunately, Spence prefers to learn what he can from television shows such as the WWE and Top Gear, rather than that boring junk the schools prefer to teach him. He spends most his time in front of the TV when he’s not at work or running out for a pack of cigs or some fast food.
“Looking good for the ladies” – Despite the long hours spent in front of the tele, Spence gets to the gym twice a week to keep in shape and ward off the fattening results of his unhealthy eating habits. As a result, he’s able to keep up a lightly toned muscular physique.
“Honing his skills” – Spence prefers to think of himself as an Alpha Male. He’ll pick fights with anyone he considers a threat to his territory or who offends him. This may result in him flinging head first into a fight against someone out of his weight class. This rough and rowdy attitude is what landed him in Hillworth in the first place and even the strict military discipline wasn’t enough to break him of this habit.
Virtues:
Confident – Whatever else may be said about him, Spencer is never one to lack confidence in himself. He believes he can take on any challenge given him…if he feels like it.
Brave – Most say there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Spence walks this line often. He often runs head-long into a fight without any fear or thought of losing. Although he fights largely for his own reasons, when in the defense of his friends, it might be seen as a brave act of heroism.
Stands up for his friends – Due to his negative attitude, Spence doesn’t have many friends. The few he has, though, are well guarded from any would-be harassers save Spence himself. It might make him seem like a nice guy at heart, but mostly Spence views this as guarding his territory. They’re his friends and no one can beat them up except for him!
Flaws:
Arrogant – Spence often comes off as a cocky jerk, because, well, he is one. He holds himself in high esteem and anyone else would have a hard time earning his respect. He ignores any orders given him by anyone he views as less than himself. Earning his respect typically comes at the cost of defeating Spence in one on one combat. Don’t think he won’t test your strength every once in a while just because he was beaten, though.
Self-centered – While the world may not revolve around him, Spence feels that anything that doesn’t is a waste of his time. Why should he care about your problems? He’d already learned his lesson about getting involved in other people’s messes after stepping in to save a snot-nosed little brat who now hardly leaves him alone*. Spence lives by his own rules and acts accordingly. If he saw someone getting mugged, he’s just as likely to pass them by as stop to fight them off for his own reasons.
Vice – Spence smokes and drinks…a lot. Though his high tolerance for alcohol rarely lets the substance go to his head, Spence prefers not to be wholly sober at any given time.
