It seems like most people have heard of Santa or Saint Nicholas these days but in America we really don't hear much about old Black Peter or Santa's accompaniment of Black servants.
I found this http://www.ferris.edu/jimcrow/question/jan05/ which sheds some dark light of the holiday and this critical article.

Ye Gods that's twisted. Here I was deluded into thinking that the Dutch were more enlightened than a lot of Europe, and here they are stuck in the 1700s.

I don't see the Black Peter tradition ending, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't.

I don't believe in Santa anymore ~nya. When I did believe in him, his name would be written the same way either my mom or dad writes ~nya. I stopped believing at age 8 (i think).
