Alexis was paused at the doors of the library, honestly she had to be kidding herself. She couldn't even afford a new trashy romance novel a had to borrow one? She frowned slightly as she walked through the large doors.

She looked around the facility wondering where they'd keep such reading at still with a frown. Why didn't they have directories like the mall did? Of course she could also probably grab a few books from the shelves of the art section as well. She needed some new material, maybe some would have ideas for her kids as well.

She paused when she saw an older man behind the desk. A soft smile returned to her features. "Oh excuse me sir. Do you work here?" She asked, okay that was a stupid question Alexis he wouldn't be behind the desk if he didn't work here, she mentally scolded herself.

Tony was busy working at the front counter, running a few searches for books someone had called in for him to find. He didn't mind things like that, and would call them back if he found them, as the online service wasn't quite what it could be and had the books listed as 'due back in 1994'.

He looked up when he heard a voice, smiling at the woman who had asked him a rather obvious question. His name tag in view, and the fact that he was behind the counter that said 'staff only' quite clear, he shook his head with a jovial grin.

"No, but don't tell anyone you saw me back here."

He shook his head, pushing the keyboard away from him as he moved to look helpful and like he was supposed to be there. Of course, if anyone looked like they belonged in a library, it was Tony.

"Anthony Darrow, librarian here. How can I help you? Are you looking for a specific book I can help you find, or...?"

Alexis watched Tony as he joked, she smiled glad he took the question so well. She gave a soft chuckle before looking around the room.

"I don't think you'll have to worry about me telling anyone." She said with a wink.

She smiled as he introduced himself, "Alexis Bailey, Art teacher for Knightside. Nice to meet you Anthony." She replied, "Actually, I was looking for a few art books, something to give me a little extra material for the kids." She said for an explanation, "I was wondering where you might keep such books?"

She paused wondering if she should mention wanting romance novels as well or just hoping she'd run into them as she was getting art books.

"Art books, hm?"

He looked thoughtful, though he knew where they were. He nodded his head. "They'll be up on the third floor, mostly in the N section, but if there is a specific topic, or artist, you're looking for I might be able to narrow it down for you?"

He watched her, eager to help as always. He turned the monitor of the computer on the front counter toward her so she could see it, indicating that he would type in a search if she had one in mind.

"Is there anything else you're hoping to find?" He didn't have a sixth sense, nor did he know she was hiding something from him. He just liked being polite and offering all the help he could, just in case.

She nodded softly, as he spoke. "Well I'm not sure quite sure what I'm looking for honestly. That's one of those that I'll know it when I see it."

She smiled as he turned the computer screen around so she could see it. "It's hard to know without seeing what might be interesting for the kids to play with you know."

She paused when he asked if there was anything else. Her hand was rubbing the back of her neck nervously. "Well, do you have any romance novels?" She asked curiously, "I can't really afford to buy a new one every time I finish one. Teacher's salary and all."

Tony nodded his head.

"That's not unusual. I can show you where most of the art books are, and you can just browse around there. We have a children's section as well, for books specifically written for children, but I'm not sure the Art selection there is quite as good as in the general area."

He smiled.

Tony, in general, liked to get away from the desk. So he often personally showed patrons where books were, rather than leaving them to find it themselves. Unless they were in a hurry or told him it was fine. He could leave a student at the desk and then go hang out with the books.

Or rather, do his job.

"Elevator or stairs?" He asked, indicating that he would lead her. He grinned as he came around the desk. "And I can show you where you might find some romance novels, as well. Believe me, we're well stocked. Hopefully you'll find something you'll like?"

It was a rather popular genre with the women folk, he had noticed.

Alexis smiled, "Oh, good." She said with a smile, "I have a feeling I might get slightly lost in here." She chuckled as she looked around, "It's so much larger than anything the school has."

She obviously didn't visit the main library much. She paused when he asked the question. "Stairs if you don't mind. They're better exercise." She added with a smile. She knew, however, most people didn't try to keep in shape like she did, so for a moment she had a thought of what if he gets winded walking up the stairs, which soon passed because well he worked here.

She smiled, "Oh really? That'd be great!" Alexis couldn't wait to see what they had. "Unfortunately when it comes to those I can read just about anything." She gave a sheepish smile.

"Ah, yes, it is pretty big. He chuckled. He was rather used to it, of course, but that came with having worked there for so long. It wasn't exactly something to brag about. And he had no intention to, of course. It was his job to show people around.

"Stairs it is," he said, leading her to them. It was always a bit slower, trying the stairs with his cane, but he was getting more and more used to it. It was on the days where Nate took his cane from him in the morning that it became a real problem.

He chuckled.

"Really?" he asked, as they made their way up to the third floor. The art section wasn't too far in the back, at least, which was good for not getting lost. "What is it about those kind of books that you like? Romance novels, I mean."

Alexis smiled as he joined her. She paused when she noticed he had a cane, "Oh." There was a slight falter, if she'd known that she would've probably opted the elevator.

However her curiosity was also piqued. However, unlike her kids, she could keep her questions from blurting out. At least most of the time.

"Well. The lady always seems to get her knight in shining armor." Alexis answered. With a wistful sigh, "Things always turn out so much better in books, than they do in real life. Having the perfect man, to sweep a lady off her feet and carry her into the sunset? It's all so romantic." Alexis finished with one of those looked that could only be described as starry-eyed.

Tony hadn't meant to laugh, but it just came out. It wasn't mocking, but honestly amused. He nodded his head, grinning at her with a boyish, playful expression. It was almost nice, in a near forgotten way, having a normal conversation about normal things. Not monsters or terrorists or senshi or any of the other things that seemed to make up most of his thoughts.

"Oh yes," he teased, "I am still waiting to find that perfect man. One day he'll ride his horse here and off I'll go. Or perhaps not."

"I guess that's a fantasy meant for on of the gentler persuasion," he sighed, "though, if life could be so simple, something you want just coming and finding you, I think we'd all be a lot nicer to each other." He laughed. Who wouldn't want to have their perfect ending come and find them?

"I think that's the basic reason anyone reads any kind of fiction. It gives you a world you want, whether you knew it or not, and let's you get away. I can't blame you for wanting more of that," he spoke like someone who read a lot, but really he was just familiar with watching other people getting their books, and telling him all about why they read and what they loved.

Alexis giggled at his response. "Well perhaps you haven't been in the right place?" She asked curiously.

She nodded softly in agreement to the fact that they'd all probably be a lot nicer to each other if happy endings found them, "Yes, and there probably wouldn't be so much violence in the world either." She frowned at the thought of terrorists.

Alexis gave another nod, "Yes, and it lets you get away from the troubles of the real world as well." She added softly, watching Tony for a second. "Do you have a favorite subject to read?" She quarried curiously.

Tony regarded her, frowning thoughtfully at her last question. He shook his head and then offered her a thin smile.

"I used to... ah. I used to read a lot of legends and epic tales. You know. Knights in shining armor," he blushed, since they had just got done teasing that concept, "but not for that version of romance. But I suppose it was my guilty pleasure, a rather fantastic idea of a different world, that not just needed saving, but people like you or me could do the saving."

He rubbed the back of his neck, almost scuffing his feet on the floor in his embarrassment.

"Sounds silly," he chuckled, then motioned his hand. "These are the art books for, ah, adults. Lots of pictures though, in some of them. The oversized ones particularly, and they're down on the bottom shelf."

Alexis looked interested in Tony's choice of reading. "Like Aurthur and the Knights of the round table?"

She nodded, "Yeah I think the world needs a few more of those." She said softly with a frown. Thinking about all those terrorists the news kept talking about.

She blinked when they got to the area with the art books. There were so many, it was amazing. "Oh wow... this is going to be interesting." She added with a chuckle. "I think this might take a bit. Oh do you have a limit on how many we can check out?" Alexis asked looking at Tony.

Tony nodded his head, chuckling softly. It had taken him a while to get over what had happened while he had been in a coma, going to that world that he was certain, without a doubt, hadn't been a dream. Camelot.

At first he hadn't been able to even look at the room on the third floor, where he kept his personal collection of books, most of which Arthurian and similar legends. Now things were more normal for him, and he was more at peace with things.

"Yes, exactly like that, actually. Arthurian legend was always my favorite."

He shook his head at her next question though, this one he could answer without feeling silly or embarrassed for being a nerd. This was his job.

"No, no limit. I mean, I think the computer jams at around one hundred, but even that is could be worked around. I doubt you'll be taking out that many? Though, if you did, I suppose I would have to help you take them to your car." He smiled.

Alexis pondered this mention, "I know some of the stories about him are interesting. I occasionally have to read other things to keep up with the kids."

She chuckled as she walked into the shelves looking at the books. "I don't think my car would hold that many." She replied as she paused at a book that looked like it was on an artist that focused mainly on animals. She paused before tugging it from the shelf. "I actually don't think I'd get done with a hundred by the end of the school year."
