It wasn't often that Genevieve Ame felt the urge to leave the comfort of her room or the warmth of her parent's kitchen. It certainly wasn't often she did so to play in the snow. Yet, there she was- Playing in the snow. It must have been a sad sight; a grown girl sitting in the middle of the park alone, building herself a snowman of questionable size. Frowning in consternation at her new snow friend, Genevieve shook her head. What did anyone expect from someone of her stature? A ten foot tall recreation of The Thinker?
A large puff of visible breath escaped the confines of her fluffy pink scarf as she sighed and plopped herself down onto a nearby bench. The whole thing really was pathetic looking, wasn't it? Letting her plum eyes settle on the scene of her recent snow revelry she shook her head and smiled. There had to be a way to make her venture into the cold worth it. Wasn't there? There had to be.
And then she had an idea- "I'm going to build myself an army."
As soon as the thought spread itself like an inspiration STD across her mind, Genevieve got to work making snow balls of every size. Some ended up coming up to her chest and others were smaller than her fists. Stacking them together she sang as loudly as possible. She sang every Christmas Carol she could think of.
Any one that watched or thought to judge the lone teenage could go to hell for all she cared.

Genevieve wasn't a girl that Ladon easily recognized. He knew her vaguely from the Negaverse, but as far as Lieutenants went, he didn’t keep track of them. It was probably the reason why he had no team, but he didn't see how that mattered at the moment. All he knew was that as he was making his way to cut across the park, he saw a single girl much older than was to be expected making snowmen. Well, snow things. Some of them were lumpy, too small, or just misshapen to be gifted with the term 'snowperson'. Some were already leaning to one side, already set up to fall come the first melt. Other were small enough that they would easily be kicked about by small children and angry teenagers. Most of these snowmen would be destroyed in a few days, either beheaded, kicked in the gut, or given snow genitalia as was the habit of kids with nothing else to do and plenty of snow at their disposal.
Yet, seeing the way the girl clearly enjoyed her work and the happy tunes she was singing, he didn't have the heart to break this reality to her. "You're going to loose your fingers making all these snow people." He said, watching her work. He held a bag of groceries in one hand, all cold things that would remain cold out in the weather, and watched her. Watching her, he tried to think of the last time he made a snowman, and frowned. He hated the cold, which meant it had been a long time. Winter was not his friend and he rarely bothered going outside unless necessary.

A voice snapped her out of her quiet bliss. Although, in reality, there wasn't anything quiet about it. Whipping her body around to find the source, she was surprised to find a boy about her size. Taking stock, she noticed the small things about him and smiled brightly. "I know you!" Turning back to the snow grunt she had been so focused on before she continued to babble. "We work at the same place, but I think you're a bit higher up on the food chain than I am!" She was sorely tempted to add in a oh, captain her captain but that seemed highly inappropriate and likely to get her into a lot of trouble with the boy and their superiors.
"If you're that worried about my loosing fingers then you can put yours to work helping me!" It wasn't too demanding, though it still had a very regal tone to it, and to most people it could have come across as very giddy. Like a ten year old being offered help from their older brother. Turning to look at the newcomer Genevieve waved a hand at him. "The name is Genevieve, by the way!"

The girl at least had the sense to censor her words, and he appreciated that. He did not feel in the mood to remind a lieutenant about security, discretion, and how the world had ears all around. As of yet, he hadn’t put anyone in their place or pulled his rank out, and he wasn't sure he wanted to. For now, they were just two teenagers in the snow. One who was enjoying much more than the other.
The one she used was almost commanding, but her giddy smile and perky nature destroyed it to make it more of a pouty suggestion that if he wanted to complain, he might as well help. His green eyes dropped to the snow, and then back to her. "But it's cold." He stated, as if Genevieve hadn't noticed. With the enthusiasm she was making the snowman with, he wondered if she did.
It was then that he reminded himself that he hadn't really talked to many of his teammates and that as a higher officer, he might as well make an impression of getting along. They were all in the war together. Moving over, he set the bag of groceries down in the snow, letting nature act like a natural fridge, and moved over, looking at a rather sloppy snowman and decided to perfect on her designs.
"My name is Ladon. Ladon Shepard. I've seen you around too." He added snow to a medium sized snow-blob and looked up at her. "So why are you making snowmen?"

Humming all the while, Genevieve was completely oblivious to the exact way she'd brought up seeing him whilst among the dark crystal of the Negaverse. If anything, she didn't see it as a secret so much as it was a volunteer group that mattered. Like the Boy Scouts or Peace Corp. There was just a little more ... Violence with this particular group. So where Ladon wanted to just be two teenagers in the snow, thoughts Viv had no idea of, for now- To her, they were always just two teenagers. With a cause.
Glancing up at the dark haired boy's green eyes, her plum ones widened and scrunched at the same time. Sort of like one of those computer smileys she'd seen before. The one with the small o and the big O. "Isn't that the general way of snow?" As far as she could tell that was a fairly obvious point, but as she looked at her own fingers she silently wondered if she'd truly noticed it either. They were bright red, and she knew that as soon as she got somewhere warm they were going to throb something terrible. Oh well. She shrugged it off and beamed at her new snow buddy as he slowly went to work making her snow forces a little more shapely.
"I'm building an army of the snow-damned, Ladon." She stated it a little more seriously than anyone playing in the snow should have, but this time she didn't care. "It isn't about quality so much as quantity."

He wondered about the sanity of some of the members of the Negaverse, but as far as crazy went, Genevieve was hardly on top of the pyramid. Her playfulness was wholesome and simple, and while others would frown at her not acting her age, Ladon could hardly put her in her place. He had plenty of plushies to make him a hypocrite if he so much as dared to open his mouth and say anything against what she did on her time off. Honestly, more and more people had been telling him to just have more fun.
He continued to round out a few bodies and patch up a few heads. At the mention of "snow-damned", he paused and looked at the snow army she was creating. "Why do they have to be damned? Can't they look like a full, well-fed army? It wouldn't do any good to have your army fall apart halfway through...well, whatever war they are waging." He was sort of missing the point, but he liked nice looking, neat snowmen with happy natures and looking in the jolly, holiday spirit. Damned snowmen made him think of zombies, and Ladon did NOT like zombies.

Genevieve waved off his concerns about army health with a petite hand. "But the damned are more easily controlled, Ladon! This important." While she certainly agreed that it was important that soldiers not fall apart mid-battle, and while she was vehemently believed in anti-zombie causes and would never create such things herself(they gave her the creeps), she didn't think beauty was such an issue amongst demons. So she said as much.
"But demons and devils and things that go bump in the night aren't supposed to be pretty." She pouted a little as she said it but as she stepped back to look at her work thus far she frowned and crossed her arms. There were no words as she looked the line of snowmen up and down, though tears threatened to overwhelm her. Had she found something creative and fun that she wasn't good at?
"I hadn't realized they sucked this bad!"

While Ladon might not have gotten the reasons why the girl had wanted to make rotting snowmen, he in no way wanted to crush her spirit or creativity. Seeing Genevieve well up with the weight of failure jerked him to attention and made him feel uncomfortable and nervous. He never knew what to say around girls who were about to cry (not that he knew how to talk to a girl when she wasn't crying). Not wanting to be stuck in a sticky spot which could involve him trying to comfort a sobbing girl, he stuck out his mitten-covered hands as if to signal a train from crashing.
"Oh. No.no.no. They are perfectly fine..d.." There was no way he could say damned. Manners - they were ingrained in him. "...zombie snowmen. They look just as they should." Maybe his attempts to fix up the snowmen were only seen as an insult and she felt he was correcting her. He had been, but he didn't mean for her to take it like this. "Here. Here. I should have helped you make them worse. Ah- I mean better."
Turning to the snowman he was working on, he reached out and took off half it's head. "There. Now he's .....well, how he should be." He looked at his once-perfect snowman and tried to fight the need to fix him again. He let it go.
"You are a very good leader to assemble your troops like this. I'm sure they will be very faithful to listen to your orders." Heck, maybe this was her way of playing General.

To anyone on the outside looking in on their snowmen building the whole thing had to have looked completely mad, but Ladon's flailing had actually started to help. He'd called them zombies and Genevieve cringed a little at it, but when he reached up and ruined his beautifully made snow creation Genevieve cracked a smiled. "Thank you... Though, I have to admit that you're pretty cute when you're panicking like that." She resisted the urge to reach out and ruffle his hair, or in this weather hat, like she was used to doing with-- Everyone. He was still a Captain after all. How rude would that be?
Instead she nodded gratefully, scooped up a handful of snow, and repaired the damage he'd done to make her feel better. Smoothing out any rough spots she patted the beautiful snow-person on the head, and then crossed her arms in satisfaction. "You shouldn't feel the need to compromise your creativity for my sake, though ..." She didn't know what else to do from there. It wasn't often she was around a boy her general age. At least- Not around one that wasn't attempting to grab her chest or a**.
"Every army needs a beautiful damsel to distress, don't you think?"

The compulsion to ruffle his hair was not an uncommon one to have. In fact, Nealite had often ruffled his hair when he was around, and while he often grew angry because of it, he oddly missed when Nealite, his once Queen, had done so. He missed a lot of things. As for cute, he did not miss that. Adopting a pouty frown, he looked over at her. "I'm not cute." He said, though saying it as he was, with pursed lips and a grumpy face, he completely contradicted his point.
Going back to the snowmen, he looked at what was now titled as the damsel in this odd little group of soldiers. "If she's in distress, then does that make your snow people the bad guys or just taking a necessary hostage?" Even playing around, he was taking this imagination business seriously. It was also because he liked a good story. If they were going invest their time in making snow damned just perfect along with a female character, then he wanted some background information.
Genevieve was right to assume that Ladon wasn't the type to go for a** grabbing or trying to act suave. He didn't have enough confidence to hit on someone, was too embarrassed to flirt, and respected others too highly to touch them without permission, consent, and at least many, many dates – and even then, they might just get to hand holding. For a boy his age – their age – he was very different.
Seeing as their snow-person did not look like a lady, he worked on smoothing out her body to at least look like a dress. She had to look appropriate after all.

Laughing openly, Genevieve did reach out and ruffle Ladon's hair when he pouted. It was too hard to resist, and she didn't think she could even if she'd really wanted to. "Of course you're not," she said with a smirk. "That's why you defend against the word so readily, huh?" It was in her experience that it was the boys that cried out against being called 'cute' were usually the ones that were called that the most.
Returning her attention to her army as soon as he did, she scrunched her nose and furrowed her brow in thought. "The necessary hostage- I am never a bad guy." It was pretty much the most obvious fact as far as Genevieve was concerned. "Sometimes you just have to do what's needed to get the job done." She added the last bit a little more quietly. There were always necessary evils.
Still- as Ladon moved back to the now snow damsel, Genevieve went back to work on the rest of the army. It was relaxing that she wasn't stuck flirting back to be nice or fending off physical advances and she reminded herself silently to find a way to thank him for being such a gentleman. It was only fair.

Ladon tensed up at being touched and glared daggers at her in having been ruffled. Patting his hair down, he was just about to tell her to keep her hands to herself and how his hair was messy enough without her help, but she was already moving on. Grumbling, he took his mittens to pat his hair down and then remembered he had snow on them when he felt a damp chill on his skull. Now slightly wet, his hair was more messy looking than it normally looked. His only blessing was his hair was short, but now some of the ends of a few loose strands were curling out. Damn.
What she said was very...mature for her age. Most people didn't share such deep thoughts openly, and he went back to perfecting his snow damsel. "You know, some people would say you were the evil person in taking a hostage, even if she was necessary. It's all how you look at it. Sometimes you just have to be the bad guy." He glanced up at her, watching her perfect her undead army. "So, what necessary evil is this army fighting for, if I may ask? Snow territory? Snow gold? Snow Honor?"

Dagger eyes went unnoticed and Genevieve shrugged at the comment. It was true, sometimes you had to do evil things... "But that doesn't mean the person his or herself are evil. Just pragmatic." Finishing another army member she glanced over to Ladon. "Honor. The most glorious battles are for Honor."
Patting the snow off of her hands she reached into her bag and pulled out a thermos. "There's tea in here if you'd like some. I always pack extra cups in case I lose one before I can have a drink." He didn't seem the type to shrug off germs so the girl felt relieved that she was always prepared.

((I am going to go ahead and just make a hasty exit and end this bad boy, I hope you don't mind MK.))
They quietly worked on the snowman army until it was finished and everything was to Genevieve's scrupulous standards. Looking them all over one last time with determination and a happy smile the small blonde stood back and placed her hands on her hips. "Perfection." She was proud of their work and as she gazed over her battalion and hostage she caught a glimpse of just how dark the sky was starting to get. Surprised splashed itself all over her features and she turned to Ladon. "It was wonderful to get to do this with you, thank you for your help!"
With that she bent to get all of her stuff gathered in her arms and looked over her shoulder quickly. With a small salute and nod of her head she laughed. "See you around, yeah?" But before he could answer she was running through the park and on her way home.
