Zac looked a wreck, he looked like he hadn't slept, like he'd taken a fall down a stair well into a box of rocks, and that just after that someone had yanked out whatever emotional knot he had left and dragged it behind their truck for a few hundred miles. But Zac was still... Zac, he'd brought his christmas shopping list, or what was left of it, and a small box wrapped in black paper with foil designs that reflected pastel rainbow stripes and an overdone bow. It was unlikely that he'd wrapped it himself, he was far too conservative about wrapping paper and ribbons, a few pieces of tape on a neatly folded scrap of paper were normally the most you could expect of him. The fact he'd brought the gift with him, and so early in the month said he didn't expect or plan to be 'home' for Christmas.
What he couldn't say was that he was counting down another set of days entirely, he had business after dark and a deadline she'd never know about.

Zac had called saying he was coming over... but after the past few weeks she was unsure if he really would. Her 'brother' was never really one to break promises, but the way he had reacted to the news had surprised her. It made beth start to ponder if there was a different side to him, one that she was just starting to scrape the surface of.
Then again, they had both discovered their blood ties were a hella lot closer than they thought. That might be justice to show a little more of themselves?
She was always herself though... though a lot less stressed out. Zac was her link to the real world, a world that was connected to her neck like the loops of a chain. The actual collar being the senshi world.. choking her.
She couldn't think of what would happen if that chain was broken.
"You look like hell warmed over.." She said opening the door to let him in, little did he know that she had ah..tried to cook. She made sure to usher him away from the kitchen. Beth eyed the little parcel...
"A little early.. isnt it?"
(( Edit- WHOOPS this is lil! Kinda passing around the keyboard IRL so i forgot to change accounts xD woops )

"...Thanks" he replied drolly and offered her the small parcel. "Merry Christmas, I'm probably going to be swamped." He said and shook the box slightly as though impatient for her to take it. "..." he paused and sniffed the air slightly. "You... were cooking again weren't you?"

Drawing her eyebrows together she took the parcel, shaking it slightly herself. "You didnt have to get me anything you know?" She said though she was kidding, it was semi tradition for them to give presents this time of year anyways. "Im just glad you came, thank you!" She let him into the house and closed the door behind.
"I guess i should give you your gift early too, i found a tiny little tree and decorated it." Beth pointed towards the corner of the room at a small tree, under which was a small wrapped in light blue parcel with panda's on the packaging. "Its not much but i thought you'd like it..." Fetching it she too put it into his hands.
"At least your not too busy to visit now?" She said, clearly dodging the kitchen question as a red tint came to her face. She walked briskly past the door, with a nervous look. "You know me and kitchens..."
Fidgeting she placed her hands together and rubbed them awkwardly. "Uhm... Im sorry about....."

He stopped by the edge of the kitchen peering in with the sort of horrified awe that was normally reserved for people rubbernecking accidents on the highway.
"...ohgod...." he said and started wandering towards the cleaning closet. "Here... Here I'll help you clean." He said with a sort of tone that might have sounded more in place at the scene of a train wreck.
He couldn't even imagine what she had been cooking given the array of ingredients. Curry perhaps? That was the only thing he could think of that would take up so MANY ingredients even if so many of them seemed strange and out of place.

"No no its ok!" She hurriedly replied not wanting to make him work, this was her house she should keep it clear herself!
...Even if it was true and she had tried to make curry, a small batch that she found a recipe for and didnt realize until after that there was such a thing as 'pre made'. But she got the recipe right!
...She thinks.
...She hadn't tried it yet.
...She eyed Zac wondering if he would so as dare and try it, but the look on his face screamed 'help meeee' so she seriously doubted he would. "Hmmm.... Zaaacccc... i was wondering... would you try something for meeee?"

"Er..." he shot her a wary glance. She had to mean...but... oh god. "What...exactly out of this ah... arrangement, went into the dish I'll be trying? He glanced around with deep suspicion that there might be baking soda, baking powder or even windex on the counters. Stranger things had happened when she had tried cooking, including diet pepsi replacing baking soda, and half a piece of bread used rather than yeast...

"Oh just... this and that." Beth smiled and darted into the kitchen, towards a counter not visible from his current vantage point. "Would i ever try and poison you... brother?" She added on the final word with a whisper, but she was being truthful.
"Nothing your allergic to!" She smiled and came out of the kitchen with...something. Said something was..brown..and goopy... resembling something one might find in the back of the fridge. Though at least it smelt good?
"Its a recipe i found online... i thought it sounded good so i bought ingredients i didn't have and gave it a shot, i hope its ok!' The windex on the counter was actually for cleaning she started... but he couldn't have known that right?
"It took me hours to do... i was trying to make something for you."

..."Do you really want me to answer that?" he said glancing at her in regards to if she had ever tried to poison him, not intentionally perhaps but her cooking so often had such...interesting qualities. And...then she played the 'guilt' card, intentional or not it struck home in a bullseye. He flinched slightly at that, hours spent making his disaster for his sake.... god.
"....alright...alright, I'll try it." he said resignedly. He wondered if the Queen extended corruption deadlines if you were in the hospital with chemical or food poisoning.... somehow he doubted it.

"... You dont have to you know." She said, worried at his tone of voice suddenly and not wanting him to eat something he doesnt want to. Besides that one incident of him eating the food she cooked... she didn't think she hospitalized him. If she remembered.
"Maybe i should try cooking lessons... or.. i duno... take out more often. Its hard sometimes surviving on PB&J constantly." She shrugged.

"It's alright...just... promise me there is no Windex in it?" he winced feeling at least apologetic that he fully expected it to have been included. "Cooking lessons could be interesting! If I weren't at Hillworth, I'd probably sign up with you, maybe if you do you can teach me a few recipes!" He said encouragingly and found what seemed to be a clean spoon and dipped it cautiously into the "Brown GOO"
he stared at the texture of it for a long moment, glanced at her and then back at the spoon. No one he had ever known did 'Bambi eyes' quite as well as Beth... He took a cautious taste.

"Nooo silly!" She beamed at the question. "The windex was out for cleaning, I would not poison you that way!"
She settled down to watch, bambi eyes in full beaming glory. Little green headlights watched as he dipped the spoon into the mess, she hoped he liked it! She sure hoped he liked spicy, she added more spices than the recipe said too.. maybe nearly dropped a whole pepper shaker in...
she got most of it out!
That wasn't already sunk in at least.
"Soooo?"

He was still for a long moment, eyes wide and... watering. "H...h...HOT!" He managed after a moment nearly dropping the spoon as he fumbled for rice to try and smother the sensation that his tongue was being flayed by fire ants. "G..h..ODDDD... Ohgodohgod. HOT!!!!" He fanned at his mouth ineffectually and stared wildly around in hopes that she had left some milk out.

"EEEP!" Was her only reply to the response, drawing her hands close to her body, eyes wide looking on the scene. "I- i- I duno! water!?!?!" She said darting into the kitchen and returning a moment or two later with a glass of water, and a can of soda. She had milk in the fridge but she didn't really know about this 'spicy' thing.
"I- Im sorry!" She looked on, tears in the corners of her eyes. She really HAD tried!

"OHGODno!" He said in alarm and waved his hand. "Milk...something!" He said waving his hands ineffectually at his mouth, not that it did anything to help the burning sensation that was currently afflicting him but it just seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
