Dysi had left the pride early that morning, content to leave his daughters in the care of one of the pride's nannies. She was competent enough and he knew nothing would happen to his girls while they were without the pride. He smiled a little, as he thought back over his daughters. Some of them were getting older now, his princess Tsura and little Vailea were almost adults now, and while it saddened him, he knew he would need to let them go eventually. It was hard though, knowing that they would move on and he would likely be left with nothing. His love was not his anymore, and while he wished it, it was growing less and less likely that she would ever be.

He sighed and shook his head, fastening his pace even though the sun was high in the sky and he was already far from the pride, he still wished to be further. He only paused once he had reached a grassy area that was heavily shaded and protected from the sun's warm gaze. Spotting flowers littering the grass, he smiled and moved towards them, already planning what he could make. It had been a very long time since he had some time to play with flowers, even if it was a fairly girly pastime.

Lihau blew his bangs out of his eyes with an exasperated sigh. He could see the object of his latest battle with nature mocking him from where it was growing between the clumps of red grass. Drop-seed was rare, hard to find, even with its ring of hard seeds, and if you wanted to be able to use it properly, you had to gather the whole plant, root bundle and all.

Which meant that once more, Lihau was up to his elbows in fresh dirt, bits of red grass sticking out from his fur in various places, and feeling like he was being baked to a crisp in the afternoon sun.

Because of COURSE the drop-seed didn't have the decency to grow in the slaughtering SHADE! Noooo it had to grow out in full SUN!

Muttering under his breath about how deep in debt to him Sadara was, the young leopard returned to sticking his head into the hole he'd cleared out around the root bundle, rump sticking straight up in the air, his tail lashing from side to side in annoyance.

Dysi sprawled himself out in the grass, tail flicking behind him as he hummed. It was a poor tune, and rather uninteresting, but it broke the silence around him as his paws moved in a familiar way. Plucking flowers from the dirt, slicing steps, carefully manipulating them into a chain. He needed to take his daughters to the flower field in the pride, he decided, and teach them this important skill. He paused, thinking of Kanie and Satomei who would miss out on the tuition, but knew there was nothing he could do. It would look...odd if he took them along with his other daughters. He sighed.

He had finished one chain, looping it back to make a crown, when a noise caught his attention. It sounded distant, but...muttering? Was someone nearby? He ducked his head, throwing the crown in the air and catching it on his head, the pink and white flowers blending nicely with his coat. The crown was slightly crooked, over one ear but not the other, but he didn't really care that much.

He pushed himself to his feet, and moved from the shade, peering out int he surrounding area and unwilling to move too far out into the heat. It was then he saw a rump sticking up in the air, and he bit back a chuckle. The tail was familiar though, so it must have been a leopard. Or a leopon, like his Leto, but it was most likely a leopard.

"Hello?" Dysi called out, staying in the shadowed area rather then the full sun, even if he was still painfully visible with his white coat.

Lihau made a odd squawking sound as the voice suddenly called out from behind him. Remembering the last encounter with someone, or in that case, someones, he had when rooting for his precious herbs, the healer felt his heart sink to his toes. He really did not need anymore unwanted attention. Looking back on the previous incident, he'd decided he was probably really lucky those two black brothers hadn't killed him.

Backing out of the hole slowly, his tail clamped down tight between his legs, Lihau carefully turned around. His pale blue nose was covered in dirt, and was accented with bits of grass and other vegetation clinging to his ears and neck. Pale eyes found the source of the voice, and they widened a little to see another male leopard in the shade, with...flowers(?)draped over one ear.

"Ah, hello..." Lihau answered him back with a polite, soft voice, " I um...I am sorry if I invaded your territory. I..I just needed some of this drop seed, but I won't bother you....if you just let me gather it. I'll fill the hole back up to." He hesitated for a second and then dipped his head, " Please."

The please was said so gently, so cautiously it was plain that the young leopard was used to being driven away, and not nicely.

Dysi barely resisted the urge to chuckle as the fellow leopard made an amusing - and adorable - squawking sound after Dysi had called out to him. The amusement disappeared quickly when he took in the submissive posture and the slightly fearful expression. Of course, the amusement and adorableness was only enhanced by the dirt smeared on the male's nose, but the passive tone and posture was what really caught Dysi's attention.

No one was submissive around him. Not even girls.

Ah. As the leopard spoke, Dysi began to understand the cautiousness, and offered the other male a warm smile. "Oh no, it's not my territory. You're not invading anything, at least, not that I'm aware of. And if you are, I'm invading it too." He shifted, peering over at whatever it was that the male was digging. "Drop-Seed? Why are you gathering that?" He asked, faintly curious. He sat on his rump, head tilted to the side, causing the flowers perching precariously atop his head to slip, but not fall.

Lihau swallowed, pale eyes looking down at his very dirty front paws, " Thank you...still I didn't mean to intrude on your afternoon." He knew the relief in his voice had to be painfully clear, but he was just so exhausted, he couldn't really be bothered to hide anything he was feeling anymore.

Pale, worn, and sad eyes looked up at the stranger as he continued to speak to him, a slight smile tugging at the edges of his muzzle as the flowers slipped forward some. The other leopard was very beautiful, the snowy white of his coat reminding Lihau of the snowdrop flowers he and his sister used to gather for Aaliyah in early spring at the mountain's base. The thought of his sister and his mentor made his eyes sting at their unknown fate, and he lowered them again at a vain attempt to hide the emotion.

" I..I have a friend who is badly hurt...she's..she's dying actually and the drop-seed, it won't save her, but it will make the pain less. I...I don't know what else to do for her. I was only an apprentice when everything happened......." The young leopard's voice was breathy and light, the type of voice that probable was beautiful when it laughed, and had a ethereal quality as it drifted into silence. Closing his eyes, realizing he had said to much to the stranger, Liahu ran a weary paw through his dirty bangs.

" I'm sorry...I won't bother you much longer. I almost have the root-bundle free."

Dysi waved a dismissive paw, still smiling brightly. "You're not intruding," he assured the other male. In all honesty, Dysi was pleased to have some company, even if this male didn't seem overly keen on chatting with Dysi. It was alright, at least he knew he was not completely alone.

The bright smile slipped from his face at the other male's words as he explained what was happening and why he was after the drop-seed. His ears drooped, causing the flowers to shift more, closer to falling off then staying on his head at that point. "I'm so sorry," he told the male, his voice sorrowful. He knew what it was like to lose someone and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked, wishing he could help the other male and save him from feeling sad, but he couldn't do that. "Can I help you gather anything else? Or help you carry anything?" He didn't care if he got dirty, he could always wash it off later, even if he hated dirt on his fur.

Lihau's eyebrows vanished somewhere in the vicinity of his bangs at the other leopard's offer of assistance. Having someone else hold the root bundle still so he could clear the dirt and grass free of it, that would make the chore not only easier, but faster as well.

" Really? You would help me with this?"
, the young healer's voice was incredulas as he looked at the beautiful white pelt of the other male, " but you will get dirty, and you are far to lovely to be dirty."

Realizing what he had just said, the blue leopard began to stammer, " I..I mean..you're clean...and...uh.....I don't...I mean...you're so beautiful...." his breathy voice finished uncertainly.

Dysi shifted out further into the sun at the male's disbelieving expression, realising that this fellow leopard was of no threat to him. He was merely desperately trying to save a friend. He stopped at the male's comment though, eyes going wide as he tried to process what the male had said. A small grin began to form on his face as the male began to stammer, trying to change what he'd said but only succeeded in making it 'worse', or it would have been worse if Dysi wasn't delighted by the compliment.

"Well, for someone as beautiful as you," he said calmly, smiling at the male, "I think I can dirty up my coat a bit. And, really, it's only dirt, it'll wash out." He loved having his coat clean, but some things were more important. Like handsome males and being helpful.

He shifted again, peering at the plant that male had been fighting with. "So what can I do to help?" He prompted the leopard with a smile.

Lihau knew his ears had to be bright red with his embarrassment, and it only deepened at the pristine leopard's comment, " Ah..I am hardly that sir, but...I..I could lead you to this clear pool off the river. Its mouth is to narrow for crocodiles to swim into, and unless you can really climb, its kinda hard to reach, so it stays clean. I'd could help you bathe, to pay you back...ah I mean..." He realized how his offer sounded, and he wished he could sink into the ground, as he desperately hid under his bangs.

Lihau lowered his head, casting his pale eyes back to look at the drop-seed, " If...um, if you could just hold the plant, I will do the messy part and dig the root bundle free..." He prayed feverishly for the dirt around the hole to just swallow him, and keep him from inserting his paw into his mouth anymore then he had.

Dysi was trying hard not to laugh at the male, since that might come across...badly, to the nervous leopard, but really, he was ridiculously adorable when he stammered and said 'silly' things, which to Dysi was merely endearing. His eyes widened slightly however, at the male's offer to bathe him. Now he couldn't hold back a grin, but he still managed to hold back a chuckle. "With an offer like that," he mused, voice almost a purr, "how could I say 'no' now?" He smiled at the male, trying to show that he was okay with whatever the male had actually meant - and with what he hadn't meant but had actually said.

He shuffled over to where the male was with the plants, and peered at it. He carefully reached out his mouth to grasp hold of the plant, pulling it back a bit to expose some of the plant closer to the ground. "Like this?" He asked, mouth full of the plant so it came out garbled, but he still managed to grin.

Liahu nodded, his fur still flushing as he crawled back under the root bundle, incredibly thankful to have both his paws free to carefully scrape away the dirt from the fragile, but so very important roots. The young healer worked as quickly as he could, not wanting to make the handsome white leopard have to wait for very long.

He really was as careful as he could be, but by the time he was done scraping, chewing, and scrubbing away the stubborn clay, the whole front of him was stained with the reddish muck, and unfortunately, so was his companion, the worst being around his muzzle and front paws.

Wincing at seeing the lovely fur so stained he gingerly took the drop seed from the handsome male, " Ah...thank you, sorry I got you all...uh...red. Did..did you want to go to that um..pool...?" He knew he had to be as red as the clay that covered them both, his only hope was that it hid the blush that was surely all the way to his ears.

Dysi had closed his eyes at some points during the other male's digging, regretfully. It was interesting to watch the pretty leopard dig in the dirt, and fascinating to see why he was so interested in the roots of the plant, but Dysi didn't want dirt in his eyes, especially not the red clay which seemed to stick to everything.

He cautiously opened his eyes when the male stopped digging and released the plant to the male and laughed a little at his apologetic words. "It's only clay, no harm done," he said, even though he hated getting his coat dirty. Ah, the things one does for a pretty face, he thought, gazing at the male fondly.

"Though I would not turn down an escort to the pool. It would be nice to wash this off before it dries too thoroughly," he admitted, gazing down at the red that clung to him. It would solidify soon enough, leaving his fur thick and uncomfortable.

Liahu bit his lip, returning the other leopard's smile with a shy one of his own, " I know, but its stained all of your beautiful fur. I hope it comes out." His light, breathy voice took on a tone of worry, then he flushed again as he realized he kept telling the other male his fur was beautiful.

He's gonna think I am nuts...he thought to himself, or wonder what is wrong with me..complimenting him like a female...gah...get a hold of yourself Liahu.

" No, we don't want it to dry. Then I'd end up having to chew it out of your pelt, and I doubt you would want that." The young Healer cleared his throat, " Its..uh, its just this way a bit if you want to follow me."

He waited until the other leopard was ready, and then began to lead the way up a bank made by the rains when they came every year, and toward a jutting of rocks where the smell of water came along the breeze. It wasn't dry season, and the spring rains were just starting, so the pool was fairly full as they approached it.

Dysi preened a little at the compliment to his fur. As a cub, he'd hated it - thinking it was girly. Now he still disliked it sometimes, but he took pride in it too. "I'm sure it will, and if it doesn't, well it'll always be a reminder of you, cutie," he said brightly, not particularly phased. It was only mud. Disgusting...dirty...mud. He withheld a shudder. Ugh. Mud was terrible, but it was worth it for the handsome leopard before him.

He looked amused at the comment of having the male chew the mud out of his fur. "That would taste disgusting," he remarked, and got up to follow Lihau. He enjoyed the scent of the water, breathing it in deeply long before they had reached the edge of the water. "Thank you!" he said to the male, and walked in without fear of the water. He'd always wondered why some felines were afraid of it. Sure, it was wet, but it was useful too. He ducked his head under the surface, to clean off his face. He wondered if there was fish in there. He'd fished before, and the meat was quite tasty, after you scraped the scales off.
