General Information

Full Name: Israfel Seyfarth
Gender: male
Age: In reality? He's more or less lived for about twenty six years; he looks pretty youthful, however, somewhere in his early teens at best
Faction: Aphotic

Appearance

Height/Frame: Israfel is quite short, standing at a height of 154 centimetres and of a small, petite build that doesn't seem capable of handling physical labour
Skin: quite pale, he gets sunburned easily so he avoids the sun as much as possible in turn
Hair: a very soft rosy tinge
Eyes: both of his eyes are of a brilliant golden hue
Wings: Israfel's wings are of a deep indigo hue that seems to change, reflecting the light in lighter shades of pink and silver.
Clothing: [Reference] [detailed costume breakdown] the color reference is still in the first picture .
Other: it was decided, a little late, that he would occasionally wear thin rectangular reading glasses with a frame made of white bone if you wish to include them in his outfit.

Personal Information

Magical Abilities
Trace: the ability to trace the emotions and lingering thoughts of a target. Often, but not always, strong thoughts and emotional states will leave a 'track' in the physical world that become visible as soon as the magic is cast. By tapping into such a track the user can experience the target's own feelings and thoughts imbued within. While one may trace straight out of another person it is a lot easier -and safer- to do it in the environment. Overusing the ability can cause the user to become physically ill.
Mnemonicide: the ability to erase, or 'kill' the memory. Can be used to completely erase a newfound memory but it doesn't work too well if the span of time this memory covers is great or if the memory is old. Side effects may cause the target to become paranoid due to the memory blanks they receive or because fractures of their lost memory arise seemingly without meaning. There is also recoil damage to be applied for the user, as even a failed attempt to extract the memory will result into a lot of physical strain that can manifest from the form of simple headaches to rendering him comatose for several days on end.

Nonmagical Talents
Organizing: if there is one thing Israfel is good with, that is organizing his time and keeping track of all the things he has to do. It also helps a lot with his position in the library as he often knows exactly what is where. Subverted early in the morning as he seems to be unable to function immediately after waking up. Coffee is a sweet sweet remedy to this.
Tailoring: one of Israfel's hidden talents is his ability to work and combine fabrics to morph them into full outfits on the run. All the clothes he wears are hand-crafted by him, one by one, and he'll sooner die than let somebody else dress him. While he rarely allows anyone else to wear his creations he might -from time to time- decide to make something for people he respects the most. He claims that his clothes are made in such a way to project an 'absolute' image of beauty as long as the one wearing them can meet such criteria.

Quirks

Mirror Mirror...: on the wall, I think I'll die if I'm not the fairest one of all. Not literally but to say Israfel is anything less than Obsessive-Compulsive when it comes down to his appearance would be a lie. He spends a long time daily tending to himself in order to always make an appeal wherever he goes and will never dress in clothes he has not tailored himself. The bright side to this? He gives useful beauty tips if you're interested.

It's...: Awful. What in the world were you thinking?
While habitually kind and polite in general, when it comes down to giving his opinion Israfel can be irritatingly honest and blunt about it. Especially when he dislikes something. He has no intention of holding anything back or hiding behind false words of kindness, instead he will bludgeon one with criticism and note that 'if one was expecting better words then one should try harder at that' Sad, but true.

What is this? This... taste...?: And among everything else he has to be a picky eater to top it off 'nicely'. And while it's certainly normal for a lot of people to have a like or dislike about certain foods Israfel takes it up a few notches by having so many dislikes in food that it starts becoming hard to cook him something he will truly enjoy. Honestly, it's better to ask in detail before cooking if you plan to have him over for dinner, even better let him cook everything himself. He'd most glad of your decision, you can rest assured.

Personality

Harsh: Coming from a background such as his and having known all sorts of hardships ever since practically the day he was born, Israfel sees the world from a not very good perspective despite his aiming for the stars. For him the world is a wretched universe where no hopes for redemption are left. Faerie do not commit evil for evil, but because of errors. Their judgment is not flawless, and will never be, so too much faith can only lead onto straying paths. These winding roads stretch on and on and farther away from hope, until the soul finally trips and fall into chaos and despair. Life is not a road filled with flowers that leads to heaven but more like a pit as pitch black as hell but in this accursed place the flowers that do manage to bloom are the most beautiful of all.

Away from here: Despite what he shows on the surface Israfel manages to keep emotionally detached from most situations, not to say this entirely wrong or right however. His ability to view everything as not being a part of it helps him calculate everything accurately when faced with pressure of any kind. In situations other people will grow blind with anger or cower up in fear Israfel is able to cut off the ties to his emotions and strategically plan ahead of the 'enemy' in order to quickly and efficiently thwart their plans before they have the chance to as much as realise them for themselves. On the other hand this same thing can cause him to behave 'strangely' when it comes to others; often being too polite or proper for his own good even if the situation demands otherwise, or coming off as cold and unkind when he only is trying to help and so on so forth.

Determined: Challenge him with practically anything. I dare you. As long as there is a task at hand there is no way Israfel is going to give up on it. Having learned early that in order to succeed one must aim the highest possible he will always try his best, going the extra mile without any complaints just to see that it is done to the best of his ability. It's not so much 'excitement' about the tasks that keeps him running; it is mostly the satisfaction and feeling of reward when he finally crosses the finishing line and looks back at the road he had to travel that fills him up with all that strength. Nevertheless, even though many people view sheer determination as something not so remarkable, Israfel thinks it is good enough for him. On the downside this very good and 'reliable' trait can make him behave in a harsh manner to both others around him as well as himself when he's trying to achieve one of his goals.

History
Growing up in an average family with parents who almost earned less than normal, and an ill-gotten younger sister that struggled to stay alive, Israfel was taught the secrets of his father's and mother's trade early on and given the task to work to pay for his meals more or less. That being said the four of them never had anything remarkable about them and, enough said, as Israfel grew up he came to despise that kind of social standing. To always be forced to struggle, unable to speak up or hold your head high... what good was this life for? But of course his arguments always slammed against the rock-solid wall of his parents' lowly pitiful logic; this was their place, they had to live with it. Yet if he knew one thing it was that he wanted to break free from that asphyxiating way of living even if it was the last thing he was going to do.
So, Israfel grew up becoming independent. Stealing time in between work and returning home to look after his sister, Ariel, he started studying books upon books in hopes of broadening his narrow horizons. His love for studying soon grew on him and he decided that if there was one thing he wanted to do was work with all those wonderful things called 'books'. He wasn't very skilled at writing even though he was quite eloquent when it came down to words. His one other option was becoming a librarian; after all he did have the skills needed.
It was one day a few years later than he finally made the single decisive step away from his family severing all ties with his parents with a single blow and moving away to live on his own. It was then and only then that he felt secure enough to take his fate in his own two hands and move along the path he had chosen. He knew that it wasn't going to be easy but he'd push for it nevertheless. He'd have a future to discover. A future to design for himself.

Relatives
Wilhelm and Gertrud Seyfarth: Israfel's physical father and mother. He has become estranged from them and doesn't as much as want to speak to them, claiming their way of life and vision for the future disgusts him to no ends.

Ariel Seyfarth: Israfel's younger sister. Israfel barely speaks to her anymore after he left his home to live alone, yet he doesn't think ill of her and secretly visits her from time to time. He aspires to 'save her' from the life their parents have planned for her. Ariel evidently suffers from an illness that keeps her bedridden for long periods of time, the source of which is unknown.

Io and Maryweather Evenglade: Israfel's young twin cousins that often visit his workplace to play. They are most dear to him and he loves taking care of them. He often gets handed the duty of looking after them while their parents are away.

Kal: the large grey cat that is Israfel's eternal companion. He stays at home, zealously 'guarding' it while his master is away. Israfel often talks with him while at home even though Kal can't really answer him back. He dislikes being disturbed from his naps and will not eat anything if it is not given to him by Israfel himself.

This is just a pretty general crit of things that conflict with the shop, or that I'd like to see expanded on. I'll probably leave further questions to others. c:

Starting from the beginning, I want to mention that faerie wings are not solid and cannot reflect light. They're made of light, usually glowing in multiple colors, so that's possible. Just wanted to clarify. :3

Most of his personality points seem to conflict with the mention of his "polite" nature. A polite and kind person won't go off on another for doing poorly or get incredibly heated about his/her opinion. And he/she almost certainly wouldn't insult a chef's cooking, unless it was truly, inedibly horrible. His points work together, but they don't seem to agree with politeness. Maybe sort that out a bit?

What exactly did he do when he stepped away from his parents? How did they react? Did they try to stop him? Convince him otherwise? How long ago was that?

"Mnemonicide" seems like a curse, and since he would be starting at the first stage, it might be too hard for him to use right away. Maybe add that he is still mastering it and that it would be difficult to perform, as well as the drawbacks?
(I realized that examples are sort of useful, so I've added a little chart to the test thread since you've written it, which clarifies a little bit about magic. Maybe it would be helpful? Chart)

Just a matter of curiosity, but what is his house like? Maybe I should include that in the form too..? XD

Also, a request from the artist, but would you mind terribly if his outfit was a bit more simplified at first? I know he puts them together himself and his mix-and-match is a part of his charm, but it's less to draw. XD
I would keep it very similar, of course, just make it a bit less detailed. c:

o 3o that is correct... and I completely overlooked it while typing for some reason. *kicks mind* I'll restate that sentence for it to no longer be contradictory.

When I mean 'polite' I mean he usually speaks politely -using polite words-, but that doesn' mean that he speaks in an actually polite manner. For example instead of saying 'your hair sucks' he'll sidetrack and go at it more or less like 'You look so fine this morning dear, but your hairstyle looks like a complete mess, were I you I wouldn't as much as dare walk out in the public with hair styled like that' or something of the sort.

He simply up and left them behind. I don't think they approved of it, but at the same time I doubt either of them cared enough to cling to him in order for him to stay. I don't think Israfel let them try even if they wanted to since he refuses to speak to them. Even up to present day he makes sure not to cross paths with them since he views associating with people like them as something shameful. As for what he did once he left, ebarassing as it is, when he first was on his own he was forced to do odd-jobs for a little while, so thank god he's not lazy. That is, until he started working at the library and before he could afford moving to his current residence. AndI think that was about eight or nine years ago.

I thought we already agreed on that in-thread, but I can state it up there to be clear for all to see? I wasn't planning on him mastering Mnemonicide until a while later on, a few stages later that is.

I always pictured his home to be slightly narrow, pressed in between other buildings with a brick exterior and a tiny garden up front. It's a two-storey high building with the addition of a small attic. The ground floor is divided into a foyer, a small -but adequate- kitchen right ahead and a living room/dining hall through the door on the right. There is a small, wooden winding staircase to upstairs next to the door of the kitchen. The second floor is more or less his study room. The main room's walls are surrounded by bookshelves. There is a separate 'wardrobe' room on this floor where he keeps not only his own clothes but also anything he needs to work on his tailoring. There is also another room that serves as the home's bathroom. The attic is nothing less than his bedroom.

I'm not sure if house description should be put in the form... On the other hand it's an interesting bit so you might as well add it~

And do you need to ask? xD Of course it can be more simplified! After all the first stage is meant to be more simple, no? And you're the artist so you have free reign~ As long as you can keep the basic feel intact I honestly have no objections on the matter~
