Name: Daniel Schäfer Nickname: Dan, Esper (online) Age: 18 Birthday: August 11 Sign: Leo Gemstone: Peridot Blood Type: O- Fav. Food: Peaches, Strawberries, Pineapples, and other sugary fruits. Well-prepared tofu, Salmon Hated Food: Sour things in general. While not vegetarian, Daniel eats very little meat, and hates the taste of red meat. School: Destiny City University - Literature. Daniel also volunteers at the library in his spare time Hobbies: Reading - Some of his earlier memories that yet remain with him is the sound of his mother's lovely voice as she read him fairy tales after fairy-tales to soothe him to sleep. Daniel was introduced to the world of written word and stories very early on in his life, and the passion has always followed him. Daniel is often seen in libraries picking up new books to read - his favorites are fantasy and poem tomes, and he has a hard time getting into science-fiction and futuristic novels. Daniel is also drawn toward darker stories in general, and he often gets more enjoyment out of a bittersweet ending than a true happy ending - bittersweet endings or even tragedies are what he adores the most, though he won't look down on any story sorely because of it's ending. Writing - This goes a bit with the above - Daniel is gifted with a vivid imagination, and he loves to write - preferably, short stories of the fantasy genre and poems. He can rarely be seen without at least one notebook somewhere in his bag. He's had enough inspiration flashes to know that it can happen anywhere and he definitively hates losing a good idea. Again, his taste for the darker and for bittersweet endings or tragedies shows itself in the stories and poems he writes, though he prefer not to influence his stories in any way, and let them run their natural course in his mind. If something comes up with an happy ending, it won't go out of his way to change it. As Esper, his online persona, Daniel in involved into role-plays of all sorts, and dabbles slightly in the fan fiction scene, though he considers writing fic a guilty pleasure that he rarely allows himself to indulge in - he often worries about taking other author's characters out of character and prefer to write his own characters, ence his fanfics being extremely rare. He can often be found on various message boards and chatrooms related to writing. Collecting Notebooks - As mentioned above, if it can be used to write in, Daniel probably will attempt to hoard it. He has a shelf in his dorm room that is filled with nothing but blank notebooks. He never tosses one away, and takes ridiculous care of his collection, though he doesn't stop himself from writing into them. Daniel still owns almost all of the notebooks he'd been given or brought, even those who are full. Some from when he was younger met some pretty unfortunate demises, but he still has pretty much anything from when he was 9 and upward, even if a large chunk of his collection is still in Germany. Notebooks and books in general are special because they're so closely related to something he loves, and brings up a lot of happy memories for him. He actually does all his writing by hand, and only types the final drafts on computer. There's just something about the feel of paper under his fingers that.... draws him in. Violin - His mother is a renowned musician and signer, so this was a bit of a given that Daniel would also dabble in the world of music. His instrument of choice is the classical violin, which he practice with daily. While he lacks his mother's sheer natural talent, he is still decent at it - and it is something he enjoys doing. Not as much as reading and writing, through. Daniel lacks the skill to make his own melodies and write sheet music, but he can follow sheet music and tends to be very by-the-book as far as playing the violin goes. It is the only instrument he knows how to play, even though he's been around various instruments ever since he was born. Virtues: Curious -- What's this ? And this ? And this ? Daniel has this kind of wide-eyed child-like curiosity about him, even at his age, and it doesn't look like it will ever fade. He was a desire to learn all that there is to learn about the world, to understand it all. This is more in term of information and knowledge rather than people, which makes him the kind that doesn't especially hound for secrets. His enthusiasm can be contagious, and he's always willing to learn, no matter what you have to teach him. Mature -- Many people who meet Daniel get the impression that he is older than he actually is. Perhaps it's a mix of the words he uses, of how he's been raised, or even the way he carries himself - but he is a great deal more serious than most teens his age, having a very clear goal in life, as well as the ambition and determination to get there. He is also completely independent and able to take care of himself from spending so long abroad. He carries himself more-or-less formally, is mostly reasonable in most things he does, and so forth. Passionate -- If there is a goal he wants to reach, you can bet your a** that he will work his hardest to reach it. Daniel had been raised with the notion that hard work brings results, and while it doesn't mean he will always succeed, he should still put his all into anything he has to do. He is also very passionate emotionally - even in friendship, he gives all that he has to give, his 110% that he can manage at the moment, always, all the time. While he does have enough common sense to know you can't win them all and that there's ultimately a point where it's no use to keep going, he'll still persevere as long as he feels there is still the tiniest glimmer of hope to salvage the situation, far beyond most people would. This can be a bit of a double-edged sword, but it's mostly a good thing because it makes him rather dependable. Organized -- Daniel rarely waste time, because he knows exactly what he's doing, where he's going, and where each and every object in his room is. He's the kind of person that make multiple drafts and keep character sheet of every character he's ever written, put together in one binder per story, then those binders get sorted in alphabetical order. Then he just needs to look up his excel spreadsheet if he's looking for a character. Handy, no ? The same with stories, even through he types them all on the computer as backup. You're mostly in good luck if you end up in some sort of project with Daniel and let him handle the organization. If there's something he needs to do, he makes sure it is done in a timely manner rather than rush everything at the last minute. Flaws: Shy -- Daniel is naturally shyer than most - he finds it hard to just... go to other people and talk to them out of the blue. This is mostly self-consciousness with a bit of this being his normal temperament on top of it - he comes from a somewhat different culture, and knows it. He felt like an outsider when he arrived to Destiny City, and still feels like an outsider even now, though on a lesser degree. This result of his shyness is Daniel mostly staying at his desk, writing, unless someone drags him away. Even then, he will almost subconsciously 'hide' behind a bolder personality as soon as he can, letting them have the forefront. He is the textbook definition of an indoor voice, and others often have to remind him to speak louder because they can't quite hear him. Sensitive -- Even though he fights tooth and nail not to let it show, Daniel actually takes others' opinions very deeply to heart. A little too deeply, in fact. He does okay with criticism that is worded well, and he does appreciate honesty - though it doesn't stop him from getting hurt if the answer isn't what he wanted to hear. He has learned with time to try to put on an impassible face and nod along, pretending everything is all fine and good, but it doesn't change the fact that it happens, it affect him, and it hurts him. He's not especially good at masking his feelings, either. His sensibility is there, and easy to exploit if you know what to look for. He is prone to silent guilt when he feels he failed someone. Worrywart -- Daniel, thanks to his shyness, doesn't have many friends. The few he does have, however, he has a tendency to cling to. Not only that, but he worries about them. Constantly. Destiny City is not a normal town, after all - heavens know what could happen ! If he knows about you and sees you in a positive light, you can expect him to worry if you're late to school, or if he doesn't get a text from you when you usually send one every night. He worries, and start fretting, becoming unable to do much else than fret and worry (maybe even freak out, depending on the situation) until he finally gets proof that you're fine. He is rather hard to deal with when he's like this. Even if he's not in worry-mode at the moment, this trait still manifests in clinginess and a request that you contact him when you're home if you're going somewhere alone, or others things along these lines. Don't Rush Me ! -- Daniel isn't good with snap decisions. At all. If he has a major decision to take, he wants to and will take the time to mull it over, slowly. Agonizingly slowly. Approaching from all angles before he settles. This is all well and good, until someone tries to rush him along. Having to decide something quickly stresses him out and makes him nervous, and under this stress he is very likely to take the wrong decision. Of course the are some things that don't exactly require deep analysis - he's not going to spend eons deciding what he's going to get for dinner - but this applies to most decisions he feels are serious. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Eyes: Dull Gold (#cbc473-ish) Hair: Light purple, shoulder length, with a slightly longer part on the right side of his face that is always braided. His hair has a tendency to curl, and he usually doesn't bother to straighten it. (curls kind of like there) Face: Rectangular-ish face, no particular mark on his skin. Clothes: Daniel is partial to soft, natural hues - tans, creams and browns, mostly. Something similar to this without a scarf and with brown pants would look rather nice, I think !

Other Info: -- Daniel is actually quite tall at 6'3", but still comes in shorter than his father, who can only be described as a brick wall. Most people usually don't believe him... until he shows them pictures.
-- Daniel's first language is german, but he is completely bi-lingual from doing all of his highschool in Azure Valley. Some expressions or things that don't translate well to german might still throw him off, as well as very deep accent. While not as thick as it used to be, Ethan still has an accent that is very clearly german.
Family:
Cornelius Schäfer - In his late 40's, a very tall and imposing man, standing out even more due to his albinism. After serving time in the military, he retired to marry Élise and to study law and become a judge. He is known for strictly adhering to law, even if he personally doesn't wholly agree with it, and he is likewise renowned for his stubbornness and character, coming across as a cold man who only truly opens up to his family. He's a workaholic who had only recently noticed his son was growing up without him and tried to be more available. In spites of appearances, he still does have a deep love of his wife and son, all the while having steep expectations that Daniel has yet to miss the mark of. He gets a copy of everything Daniel writes and finishes, and is, in a way, his truest yet most harsh critic.
Élise Molyneux-Schäfer - In her late 30's, Élise and Cornelius make a bit of an odd couple at first glance - the tiny, fragile equivalent to his sternness and imposing stature, the emotional counterpart to his logical mind. On closer glance, the two complete each other in a way many couples do not, and in the end come out stronger for it. Élise's talent lies is music - playing the violin and singing, mostly. In spite of her apparent fragility, she is a very strong and focused woman, and once she is determined to do something, she will not back down.
Adrian Schäfer - Paternal uncle, in his early 30's and boy could the two brothers be any different ? Adrian is an happy-go-lucky man, content to go wherever his life takes him next, and he often returns with amazing stories and presents from all over the world, getting to visit many exciting locations thanks to his job as reporter for a major news network in Germany. He's not exactly the most dependable person on the planet, however, and he rarely where you need him to be when you need him. Somehow, the brothers have not killed each other. Yet. Adrian actually drops by whenever he's in the US on a business trip, just to make sure how his 'favorite' nephew is doing. (hint - he only has one nephew)
OOC NOTE : If you are reading this wondering 'are those four who I think they are ?' Then yes. They are. XD

Hi Zero,
Tried my best to come up with some crits, but Ethan is such a pretty well put together character, that it's tough xd
Out of curiousity - why Azure Valley as a school? Ethan comes across as something of an arty student, whereas Azure Valley seems more focused on technology and science.
Flaws and Virtues flow together well - I have one question about the mature virtue. As a side result of coming across as more mature than his age/ not being the type to party - does Ethan come across as a bit of a party-pooper when it comes to the more silly things others his own age may indulge in?
I like the senshi attacks heart
For the senshi and super senshi attacks I have a few questions: 1. Can they be used more than once? 2. If used more than once can they be used against the same opponent? 3. If used on the same opponent more than once, how effective is it? Is it easier to resist second time round?
Sailor Xanthe comes across as an awesome character though, I hope he becomes a reality at some point smile

Ohhh, questions for me~~ <3
As far as schools go, Ethan's parents wanted him to go for the best education he could get, so that meant Azure Valley. I am still debating weither or not his parents actually are in Destiny City or if they do still live in Germany (see that last name ? Yes, he's german :> ) so if I go that route, my choices are pretty much Azure or Hillsworth, and he's definitively not Hillsworth worthy. XD Either way, I just can't see his parents, especially not his father, settle to send him to Meadowview, so aside inventing a brand new school (which I obv, can't really do) or stuffing him in a skirt (which would get me killed in my sleep by angry muses), Azure Valley is the best option for him. He's definitively an odd duckling there, through. :> He does fit the nose-to-the-grindstone part of the school, though, with both him and his father having high expectations for him.
I really need to write his family post. Derp.
Hm, he doesn't strike me as the naggy type at all, more of 'do whatever you want but don't drag me in your mess' type, so probably not a party pooper in the sense that he actually prevents others from having their fun. If dragged by force somewhere he would probably find a safe corner and let the chaos pass. XD Or try his best to make that happen ! I suspect he might make an hilarious drunk if someone spiked his punch, though. XP
Good point on the attacks, though, ill go edit it in <3
Thank you so much for the crit !

Zero!
I *might* have some attack name suggestions for you! Maybe. I have a list of really awesome words at least?
1.b= Haunting Lament or Wistful Lament (haunting implies how torturous old sadness could be, wistful implies a deep yearning and longing)
2. Solemn Dirge ( of Sorrow/Torment/Agony/*some really great word*) -I think solemn is an amazing word for an eternal because it has a double meaning! I can mean either quiet/serious or impressive and sacred. Plus dirge is a fancy term for lament (and also a funeral march! I think.)
Other awesome words to think about: mourning, grave, elegy (in place of dirge or lament), grief, brooding, forlorn, melancholic/ly and/or woebegone.
^____^ The thesaurus is my friend.

heart Yoink away! That's what I'm for! Just cranking out ideas. heart I can't resist helping other canadians. heart
The rest of Ethan looks good! But, you always seem to have well thought-out characters.
I do have questions though! (I always have questions):
-With reading, does he have a favorite genre? Does he still read fairytales and/or have a soft spot for stories with fairy tale endings?
-With all the notebooks, what does he do with the ones he's filled up? Does he keep used ones? Do they go in a special place or get labeled? Does he ever re-read his old notebooks or read old stories and then re-write them? (My brother actually has a bunch of his old schoolwork from the 1st-3rd grade, and it provides hours of entertainment to reread them). Re-writing old work fits nicely with his perfectionist trait.
-Although, perfectionism doesn't seem like such a flaw. Most of it seems like a good thing to me? Maybe add how the perfectionism can get in the way of other things? Like does he strive to finish things and 'make perfect' all his projects, enough that it gets in the way of doing other 'fun' or social activities? Would he forget to eat or sleep because he's too busy/focused on something? Does getting a "bad" (let's say a B+) grade upset up? Would he try to get the chance to re-write a test or re-do a project if he got a grade he was unhappy with? Would he ever argue over grading?
- Does the note-book hoarding tendency pop-up anywhere else? Like is he a pat-rack in general and reluctant to get rid of anything?(Potentially an alternative flaw or a side-trait/"hobby") Does he place sentimental value on a lot of objects, like replacing a lot of friends with 'objects' and/or his imagination? --- Actually, I can pick up a bit of a hoarder-pack rat vibe in 'organized' too. So maybe you could develop that into a 'holding onto the past'/pack-rat hobby. I'm not sure how... but, it's something to think about?

Canadian pride, oh hell yes. heart
Well, Ethan is an older version of a character I already play, so it helps. XD
-With reading, does he have a favorite genre? Does he still read fairytales and/or have a soft spot for stories with fairy tale endings? Fantasy, probably, and fairy tales too. :O He does like bittersweet and sad endings, through.
With all the notebooks, what does he do with the ones he's filled up? Does he keep used ones? Do they go in a special place or get labeled? Yes he does ! He pretty much labels them and keep a 'master list' excel sheet to know where every story he wrote is so he can find it easily.
Does he ever re-read his old notebooks or read old stories and then re-write them? (My brother actually has a bunch of his old schoolwork from the 1st-3rd grade, and it provides hours of entertainment to reread them). I do that too ! Well, not so much rewrite them, but I have alot of old schoolwork I re-read for the lolz when I feel like it. He definitively do re-read, and definitively will rewrite if he finds it too lacking for his tastes.
Although, perfectionism doesn't seem like such a flaw. Most of it seems like a good thing to me? Maybe add how the perfectionism can get in the way of other things? Actually, I think you're right. Ill still answer your question, but I think im gonna do some switch-a-roo in there...
Like does he strive to finish things and 'make perfect' all his projects, enough that it gets in the way of doing other 'fun' or social activities? If he promised someone they'll hang out, he'll probably set his alarm to remember it - he's shy as it is, what few people he consider friends he feels he has to keep and please - also, can't let his friend down, tying with his sensitive flaw. He does sometime forget, through.
Would he forget to eat or sleep because he's too busy/focused on someone? Probably happens, especially around finals time.
Does getting a "bad" (let's say a B+) grade upset up? Would he try to get the chance to re-write a test or re-do a project if he got a grade he was unhappy with? Yes and yes on this.
Would he ever argue over grading? Probably not. He's been raised to listen to figure of authority, especially teachers, so he would probably seethe quietly to himself and then work twice as hard on whatever his next project is.
Does the note-book hoarding tendency pop-up anywhere else? Like is he a pat-rack in general and reluctant to get rid of anything?(Potentially an alternative flaw or a side-trait/"hobby") Does he place sentimental value on a lot of objects, like replacing a lot of friends with 'objects' and/or his imagination? Not really. Notebooks and books in general are special because they're so closely related to something he loves, and brings up alot of happy memories for him. He actually does all his writing by hand, and only types the final drafts on computer. There's just something about the feel of paper under his fingers that.... draws him in.
Actually, I can pick up a bit of a hoarder-pack rat vibe in 'organized' too. So maybe you could develop that into a 'holding onto the past'/pack-rat hobby. I'm not sure how... but, it's something to think about? Xavier is my pack-rat. XD While I figure this is something that is relevant, it's not enough to really be a major flaw/hobby ? It's really notebooks and books that do him in, the rest of his processions are really just objects, he might like them but it's nothing irreplaceable that would truly devastate him if something happened to them, unless he got a family heirloom or something of huge emotional value. Even then, he lost/accidentally destroyed a few, and he got over it fairly quickly.
