The snow was falling heavily on to the slushy streets, big fat flakes that clung to the jackets of people on the street. There was almost no wind, which meant the night was the kind of night that caused the cold to seep into bones and rest there, leaving a chill that was nearly impossible to shake.
The breath of the people outside in line hung in the air like a fog overhead while the would-be patrons of the club stamped their feet and shivered in the cold, huddling together for warmth and rubbing bare legs in a vain effort to keep away the cold.
Inside the club was another story. It was filled over capacity, sweaty bodies pressed together, writhing to the pulsing techno music booming through the speakers. It was hot, but not just temperature wise. Everyone in the club had movie star good looks. One couldn't even dream of getting in unless they had the look or the cash to buy a way in, and with the cover being over a thousand dollars, not many choose that route.
Men and women danced on the floor and on tables, some with glasses in hand, some with pills. There were some who were under age, although none looked the part. The lights beat in time to the music, flashing different colours, momentarily lighting up the darkened room, the smells of liqor, sweat and perfume blending together to create the musky scent of a club.
Rae was one of the girls on a table, dancing with friends, a drink in her hand. Her long dark hair hung down her back, swaying in time with her hips and the music. Her emerald green eyes were lined with kohl, making them stand out and complementing her full lips. A light sheen of sweat covered her tan skin. She wore a white top with a sweetheart neckline and skin tight low rise jeans that showed off a flash of her flat somach when she moved. An outfit she chose to show off her killer curves. Rae had on a pair of low stillettos. She was five seven without heels, and didn't like to tower over the guys in the bar, so in her heels, she was five nine. Thankfully, the guy she was dancing with was taller than she was.
When he started getting to touchy feely though, she signaled to her friends that she was going to get a drink, and hoped down from the table. She pushed her way through the crowd, taking the occasional a** grabs in stride. It was the price you payed for being in a club like this. The guys at the bar took one look at her and were jumping over themselves to buy her a drink, which was fine by her. She'd rather keep her money in her pocket. Rae ordered her drink and watched it into her hand to make sure the guy who paid for it didn't try anything stupid. He didn't. She knocked back the shot and looked around, trying to spot someone she knew.
It was then Rae was bumped into by some guy in a hood. Normally, that wouldn't bother her, but why the hell was a guy in a hood in here? It felt like it was 90 degrees in here! She caught a look at the pretty blonde the guy in the hood was speaking to. She was staring at him, doe eyed, nodding along with everything he said. Rae had seen that look before, in police edience folders, on the faces of victims of the latest target.
Rae tapped the guy on the shoulder. "Excuse me? Hey buddy! I said excuse me." He didn't turn around. "Hey, I'm talking to you."
"Back off, little girl." came the growled response. Little girl? Litte girl?! Oh I don't think so, pal... Rae thought as she reached up and pulled the hood off the guys head.
Bad idea. The demon had two 6 inch sharp and pointy horns spreading from his forehead. s**t. she thought, just before the screams started. In the sudden panic, Rae was slammed with bodies as everyone rushed to get to the door and away from the demon. "Damn it!" he roared as the blonde girls friend came and dragged her away, "I just wanted one! And she was so pretty too...You'll pay for this!"
Rae had to duck quickly, the demons punch sending the poor unfortunate guy beside her sprawling over the bar. "Now, that's no way to treat a lady." She said, and the fight began in earnest. It was diffcult to fight in a packed room, with bodies swirling around you, pushing and shoving as they tried to make for the exits. After dodgin one particulairly nasty blow, Rae noticed someone slipping out the back door, a girl in tow with a hand over her mouth. s**t. she thought again, turning to the side to aviod being gored.

Alex yawned as he sat up from his couch. It was dark out, much to his delight, and it was snowing. He swung his legs off of the couch and cursed the fact that he hadn't gone to sleep in his coffin. Cracking his stiff neck, he stood up, wearing only his boxers. Stretching his arms and legs, his well toned muscles rippled from his perfectly chiseled frame. Blinking and rubbing his eyes to clear them, he walked out of his living room and into the kitchen, not bothering to turn on the lights.
Slowly gaining awareness of his surroundings, he walked to the fridge with a glazed look in his eyes. Opening the fridge, he leaned down to look inside and pulled out a pack of donated blood. Leaning back up, he closed the fridge door and walked to the counter behind him. He opened a cupboard above him, looking for a glass. Finding one, he poured the contents of the blood pack into the glass and tossed the remains away. Sipping from the glass as he carried it with him, his fangs making marks on the glass, where there were many more all around it. He set the glass on his coffee table and turned to his closet. Opening it and looking through his many identical outfits, he remembered where he needed to go soon, and picked the one that fit the situation most and pulled it from the closet.
Yawning again as he buttoned his shirt, he ruffled his messy hair and pulled a few strands out of his face. He reached down and grabbed his holsters off the coffee table, with the pistols he used still in them. Checking to see how many rounds were in them before holstering them, he looked around, to see if he was forgetting anything.
Yawning once more, he downed the glass of blood and tossed it at the sink, it clinking as it landed softly inside the sink, though he threw it quite hard. Slipping his jacket on, he made his way to the door before stopping on his heel and turning around. Walking back into the kitchen, he grabbed a fresh peach and walked over to a covered cage standing in the corner. Pulling the cover off of the cage, he slipped the peach inside, tapped the cage and said, "C'mon Vincent. Feeding time. Get it while it's ripe." A bat, an Egyptian fruit bat to be precise, dropped from it's hanging position and clung to the peach immediately. The peach was easily the size of the bat, and since Vincent The Fruit Bat was almost fully grown, that wasn't likely to change. Alex smiled and covered the cage as Vincent squeaked what he took for a goodbye and went back to his peach.
Leaving the kitchen, and heading for the door, Alex yawned once more before stepping out into the cold night air. Rather than take a car or a bus or a cab, like most humans would, Alex walked to his destination, teleporting himself a few streets here and there when there were few people around. After ten minutes of walking and teleporting, Alex finally arrived outside of the nightclub where he was supposed to meet Rae inside. Turning on his heels toward the door, Alex simply waled past the bouncer, who, thanks to a little magic trick, hadn't noticed him. Yawning once more as he made it inside the club, he felt the pulsing beat of techno music beneath his feet and he saw the many humans packed inside on the dance floor in front of him. He sighed and closed his eyes for a few moments, before he was bumped into by a drunk human couple, who yelled, "Hey! Watsch whare you're going buddy. Me and my girl here are... are trying ta dansh!" The woman of the couple dragged the drunken man away, mumbling apologies to Alex and how she'd rather party with him instead. Alex just shook his head, smiling in amusement of humans and their odd ways.
Walking onto the dace floor proper, he seemed to glide through the crowd, never really touching any of the people, even though they were all tightly packed together. He was trying his best to concentrate, but his mind was clouded by the exquisite scent of human blood, and their heartbeats pounding in time with the music. He smelled the sweet aroma of blood through their skin and wondered how long he would be able to last in here. Just as he thought that, he made it out of the crowd and his eyes locked on the scene in front of him. He stared at the woman he recognized as Rae dancing on a table. His smile grew, and his fangs stuck down into his lower lip as he watched her dance, looking like she had not a care in the world. He vanished when she hopped off the table and went to get a drink, following her from above, in the rafters as she walked, growling slightly as his extremely accurate vision picked up the many people grabbing at her a**. When she reached the bar, he vanished and reappeared nearby by the wall of the club.
He watched as she confronted the man who seemed to fit the MO of their target, and swore, "Dracu. A goddamn demon here too..." He watched as the people began to scatter and scream. Sighing, he prepared to enter the fray when he was brushed past by a man with a girl in his arms, and the unmistakable air of a vampire about him. He turned and followed the vampire out, figuring Rae could handle the demon on her own, in fact, he muttered a slight apology for what the demon was about to go through. The vampire was obviously newly turned and he hadn't learned to use his vampiric powers yet, he didn't even hear Alex as he walked behind him. Waiting for the vampire to choose his spot, Alex brought out his pistol and turned the safety off.
When the vampire finally found his desired killing spot, he slammed the girl up against the wall, holding her hands above her head against the cold brick as he made for her neck. It was then that Alex spoke up, saying, "Hey, buddy. I don't think that fruit is ripe just yet. Give her a few years, she'll taste even better." The vampire stopped and swung around, growling at Alex, saying, "Another Vampire? What the ******** do you care if I drain her? She was all too eager to top me off earlier." Alex sighed and pulled his pistol up, level with the vampire's heart, and said, "Because, my relationship with the humans is... complicated." With that, he fired the pistol, putting a volleyball sized hole in the vampire's chest, dropping him immediately. The girl cowered against the wall, the vampire's blood staining the white snow on the ground to a deep dark red. Alex took a step forward and she scrambled away from him, sprinting down the alley and out onto the street.
Sighing, Alex bent down, poured some water onto the vampire's corpse, disintegrating it completely. He yawned once more and opened a mind-link with Rae, saying, "Vampire eliminated... How're things on your end. I'm heading back inside." In order to make them more effective as a team, Alex had long since made a psychic channel between him and Rae, to make communication easier. All Rae needed to do was think what she wanted to say to him and he would hear it. Opening the door to the club, Alex walked back inside to meet Rae.

Rae felt the mental tug that meant Alex was trying to get in contact ith her. She opened the mental door and was about to respond to Alex when there was a pull on her shirt, and a very loud ripping noise.
Rae let out a stream of colourfull curses, ending with "That was my favourite shirt, you ******** p***k!" Not the best thing to be transmitting to Alex, but she wasn't too concerned with him at that point.
The demon had used his horn to rip her shirt in two, from her belly button to her clevage. If Rae hadn't pulled a Matrix-like move, he would have gored her through the chin. As it was, she wouldn't give the demon the satisfaction of seeing her fight without a shirt, and tied the bottom ends together tightly to make sure she didn't lose the twins.
"That's it buddy, I'm going to cut your ******** head off!" Rae advanced on his, a flurry of high kicks and punches to the gut. She was trying to keep him disoriented until she could find something to behead him with, or until Alex showed up. She opened up her mind again and sent him a mental note. Need something to cut him up with. Hurry please." Rae couldn't resist the urge to give the demon one good, hard kick where it would hurt the most as she heard the back door opening, which she was sure meant Alex had arrived on scene.

Alex quickly walked through the door when he heard Rae say she needed something to behead the demon with. Luckily, he had brought her "Knife" with him. An eighteen inch long blade, more of a machete than a knife, but it was shaped and made to look like a combat knife. Taking it out of his coat, and then out of its holster, Alex vanished and appeared right next to her, handing her the unsheathed blade, saying, "I can see you want this guy for yourself, so I'll sit this one out. Barman! A bottle of your finest red wine!" Alex laughed as he hopped over the bar and began to look over their selection of wine.
Tossing bottle after bottle aside, "AHA!" he shouted as he finally found one he was looking for and set it up on the counter, away from Rae and the demon's fighting. He searched through the cabinets for two wine glasses. Finding two that were just perfect for what he was looking for. Setting them on the side of the bar, he hopped back over, with a bucketful of ice, setting the unopened wine bottle inside it. He sat on a bar stool, turned and watched the battle unfold. As it did, he taunted the demon and tried his best not to laugh at Rae's torn shirt, "You're in for it now bub. She is gonna. ********. You. Up! You never ruin this lady's clothes. She is one tough woman." Alex chuckled as he brought out a blood pack from his coat, snapped the top off and drank it through the IV line like a straw.

Rae took the knife Alex handed her, not even bothering to look at him. There was a point in time when she would have jumped a foot (and most likely died for it) when Alex would just appear by her side like that, but she was used to it now, if not a little jealous.
Rae jumped as the demon aimed a kick meant to shatter her knee caps and turned the knife over in her hand. It felt good to have it with her. She hadn't been able to bring it to the bar on her person what with her current outfit. Thinking of her outfit reminded her of her now ruined shirt, and that sent her into a rage again, curses streaming from her like she'd been a sailor all her life.
She fiented left, and when the demon followed, she side stepped quickly to the right, extending her left arm and slicing the blade across the demon's throat. Rae let a smile light her face as the demon fell backwards, gurgling his last breath. She knew he wouldn't truly be dead unless she severed his head from his body, so she made quick work of it. "That was for my shirt, a*****e." she said as she stood, wiping her blade clean on a bar rag she found.
Rae turned, an eyebrow arched in Alex's direction. "Some gentleman you are, Alexander. Using foul language like that in front of a lady." She clucked her tongue and held out her hand for the wine bottle, the other hand on her hip. Because her shirt had been ripped and tied, the knot sat just above her belly button, and for once, she was glad she hadn't bothered to get her belly button pierced.
The music still thumped through the building, sounding far too loud now that there weren't thousands of people to absorb the music. She tapped her foot along with the beat, a little upset her night out had turned out like this. Just once, she'd like to go out dancing without having to kill some loser supernatural, or worse, a terrible human being. That was one of Rae's personal rules, she never killed anything innocent and if she had to kill, she needed proof whatever the target was had commited a terrible crime. Sure, it meant she had seen some horrible things in her relatively short lifetime, but, it meant that they never killed the wrong guy, and Rae took comfort in that.

When she used his full name, Alex winced slightly. As she clucked her tongue, Alex stood, and bowed farther than he needed to, his upper body actually pointing towards the ground at a slight angle as he said, "I beg your pardon my lady. I do hope you can forgive me." Standing up straight, he reached over and popped the cork on the bottle of wine, pouring himself and Rae a glass of wine. He handed her glass to her, and kept his sitting on the bar, while he vanished and appeared by the DJ's turntable, shutting off the thumping techno and strobe lights and putting something on that he felt was appropriate for the situation. He reappeared back at the bar and sat down in front of the wine bottle and his glass. He took the blood pack he was drinking and poured it into the glass. He picked it up and stirred it with his finger, while it hovered a few inches above the glass.
Taking off his glasses, he folded them and put them in his jacket pocket, sliding it off and laying it on the bar, he turned to look at Rae. Looking her over, noticing her beautiful frame, and her bare flesh, he smiled lightly and said, "Come here... Let me see what I can do about that shirt. I tried my hand at sewing a couple 50 years ago." He patted the stool next to him, waiting to see if she would accept his offer. Raising the glass up to his eyes, he swirled the contents a bit more before raising his glass in a toast, saying, "To another job well done. Targets eliminated and mission complete. Now, let us drink." He then took a "sip" of wine, downing half the glass in one go, as he thought, sadly, in the back of his mind, "And to us..." Alex had already closed the connection between the two of them, but he had taught Rae how to open one with him, he hoped she chose not to. His light, happy smile flickered to a saddened one for just a moment, but quickly returned to his normal expression when he was around her.

Rae blushed as Alex bowed, a smile creeping up her face, but she recovered just in time to raise an eyebrow at him as he straightened. She'd had a thing for Alex almost as long as they'd been partners, but she'd really messed up when she'd been running her mouth about how much she hated vampires and how much she never wanted to be one, only to find out later that Alex WAS a vampire.
Trust Rae to put her foot in her mouth and not even know she did it. She had effectively ruined any chance she had at having a relationship with him before it had even stared. A sad look crossed her face as he poured the wine, but it turned into a smile as he handed her a glass. She took a sip as he disappeared. Before Rae had time to wonder where he'd gone, she heard the music change and watched as the strobe lights stopped, the club lit by dm light bulbs and the emergency exit signs.
Rae took a deep breath and walked toward the stool Alex had patted, stopping before sitting down to drink to the toast. Something felt as though it had touched her mind, but Rae left her mental "door" closed. She had made a promise to herself not to snoop through his thoughts just because the connection was there, though it was damn tempting. But, she would hate to know he had done that to her, so she made herself a promise to keep the door closed unless there was a need to open it.
Rae stood facing him, infront of the stool he mentioned. "Sure, but do you have a needle and thread?" she asked, untying her shirt and holding the two sides together carefully. Rae was suddenly very aware of the fact that if she accidentally let go of one of the sides of her shirt, she would be very exposed, and very embarassed. She couldn't even move her hair over her shoulders just in case, as it would be in Alex's way. She wasn't even sure Alex would like what he saw. He probably thought she was an idiot. Rae swallowed and fought the urge to laugh nervously as she gained a death grip on her shirt and tried to remain nonchalant.

Alex smiled as she held her shirt together, he chuckled at her needle and thread comment and said, "Well... No I don't have a needle or any thread, but I think this should work." He reached his finger out to her shirt and ran it down the the length of it. There was a slight hissing noise as he did this, and a small amount of dark fog seemed to leak from under his finger. The fog seemed to latch itself to the shirt and bind the fabric back together, with no visible sign of it ever tearing. When he finished he brought his hand away, he took another drink from his glass and stared at her, admiring her figure. How amazing she would taste, he thought, but quickly took his mind away from that thought. He knew she hated vampires, and she probably wouldn't have accepted his request to be with her even if he asked. The only reason the two of them were even with each other was because they were partners, they had managed to overcome the barrier enough to be friends, but Alex knew that they'd never be together. This was probably the closest they'd ever get to a romantic evening together.
Sighing after downing the rest of his wine, he poured himself another glass and looked back to her, wondering if now was the best time or not. He decided it wasn't and downed his entire glass in a single gulp, and standing up. He smiled slightly sadly and said, "Well... I guess we better report the mission as a success... Cops'll be here soon, and I hate dealing with police." Stretching his arms, he grabbed his jacket and slipped it on. Taking his glasses out of the coat's pocket, he extended a hand to Rae and said, "Well, shall we go? I know you don't like teleporting, but it will get us there quicker." He waited for her to take his hand or leave, either way, he'd be teleporting to headquarters and reporting to the boss.

Rae tried not to shiver as Alex ran his finger down her shirt. Yes, his hands were cold and yes, the fog tickled a bit, but that had nothing to do with her shiver. Rae wondered how Alex would feel if she stepped forward so that his finger touched her skin. Her pulse beat wildly, and Rae was fairly certain Alex could hear her heart beat from his chair.
She took a deep breath and looked down as the fog dissapated, and tried not to stare in awe. "Thank you, it's perfect." A genuine smile lit her face, causing hergreen eyes to sparkle. Leave it to Alex to fix her favourite shirt she thought was gone forever. Rae finished the wine in her glass as Alex spoke.
"I don't want to stick around and be the one to blame. We'll leave the demon body here, and when we'll call it in, I'll tell the cover-up crew to get down here." The cover-up crew was Rae's way of saying the clean up crew. They would dispose of the demon's body, then act as spin doctors, changing the news stories if they couldn't wipe the memories of those cops that had seen the demon.
Rae sighed unhappily. "Quicker is better. I'm not dressed for the cold. But thank you, for fixing my shirt." she said with a smile, indicating her current outfit. Rae grabbed hold of Alex's arm and shut her eyes tight, trying to fight the queasy feeling teleporting always gave her.

Alex smiled as she thanked him, he saw her emerald eyes sparkle like the most beautiful jewels he had ever seen. He felt a tinge of happiness go up his spine as she grabbed his arm and he teleported. The teleportation effect was instantaneous, but it would leave a human sick to their stomach, and depending on how far they traveled, could even hurt them. Alex was careful enough however, and no ill effects happened when the two of them appeared outside the operation's head office.
He allowed Rae a few moments to regain her composure before walking into the room nearly silently. The old man sitting at the desk looked up and smiled widely at the two of them. He waved them in and said, "Ah, my two best agents, come in come in. So, how did the assignment go? Did you get him?" Alex smiled at the man as he sat down, the special operation's head was a good friend of Alex's and unbeknownst to anyone other than the two of them, also his grandfather. Alex cleared his throat before speaking, then said, "The target was eliminated, no human casualties, and we also dealt with a demon while we were there, he attacked Rae, but she eliminated him. We'll need a clean up crew there soon, for the body of the demon, but the vampire's been dissolved and is probably somewhere in the sewers now." That was all Alex said, the head smiled and clapped his hands together in congratulations.
The head stood up and turned to look behind him at the large city map that was on the wall. He took a pin out of the map, looked it over, turned back to the two and said, "I think you two have earned some rest. Take the weekend off, we can handle things around town until Monday. Go out, have fun... go to dinner with someone." At this last suggestion, Alex nearly fell over out of his chair. Had the old man been reading his mind? How did he know that he wanted to take Rae to dinner? He sighed and looked over at Rae out of the corner of his eye, and opened the psychic link between them. He didn't look through her thoughts, he simply asked her a question, "Do you have any plans for the weekend? All of my friends are... well... dead... Want to go to dinner with me? Strictly as friends of course..." Alex waited for her answer, still looking at her out of the corner of his eye.

Ugh. Teleporting always made Rae feel like she was going to barf. She was grateful to Alex for giving her a few seconds to compose herself. Rae inhaled deeply through her nose, twice, and after a few seconds, when she was convinced she'd be able to keep her food down, she nodded to Alex, indicating she was good to go.
Rae followed Alex into the big conference room. She always felt like an elephant walking anywhere with Alex. He barely made any noise, so her footsteps sounded twice as loud. In reality though, she barely made more noise than he did. Rae had to check herself to make sure she was smiling as she walked into the room. She wanted to like the head of the department, but there was just something about him that made her uneasy and set her on edge. Rae had absolutely no reason to feel that way, and always chalked it up to her training. In this business, she had to be wary of everyone.
Rae had been daydreaming, not really paying attention as Alex filled the head in on the success of their mission. She started a little as she felt her mental door "open". Rae was sure the head hadn't seen her movement, but she knew Alex would have picked up on it. As partners, they were always acutely aware of each other, which did not help Rae's crush on him, and it usually made her heart ache. She wished there was some way they could start over...
Hope flashed behind Rae's emerald green eyes at his question, but was quickly entinguished at the statement immediately following. She had to work to hide her thoughts, focusing only on answering his question. The corner of her mouth closest to him turned up in a smile. "Sure. My friends set me up on a blind date, but I don't mind cancelling, believe me. That last guy..." Rae shuddered. "I'm sure I'd have a better time with you." she thought at him. "As friends." She added quickly. Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT! She thought to herself. Could I be any more stupid? He clearly knows it's as friends. That was what he invited you as. Just because you wish it was something more...
Rae gave herself a mental kick in the a**, and re-opened the mental link between her and Alex. "What should I wear?" she asked casually, trying to remember if she had anything suitable in her closet.

Smiling lightly at her answer, he was glad that she accepted and decided to go with him. He chuckled slightly in his head at her comment, then felt her mind's door shut abruptly. Waiting until it opened again, he wondered where they would go, how he would pick her up. Every thought about taking someone to dinner and making it perfect flew through his head at once, and he decided on a course of action almost immediately. By the time she reopened the mind link, he was already about to answer her question. He chuckled and said, jokingly, still through the mind link, "Well, a nice dress would be good. Your current outfit wouldn't exactly fit in at the restaurant. I'll pick you up tomorrow night, let's say... 8:00? I'll make reservations for 8:30 at Avanti Ristorante. I hope you like Italian" Smiling, Alex stood up and extended a hand to Rae, once she took it, he teleported to her apartment.
Letting go of her after they had reappeared inside her fairly bare apartment, Alex stretched his arms and looked around. After being partners with Rae for 3 years, he could understand why her apartment had so little in it, she barely ever stayed there for very long. Looking around, he entered the kitchen, and looked around some more. He knew it was bad manners to go snooping around in someone's kitchen, but there was something that smelled so delicious he just couldn't get his mind off of it. Looking through the cabinets and fridge, he found what it was he was smelling, a small box of fresh strawberries. Leaning in to take them out, he said, loud enough for her to hear him, "Hey... you didn't tell me you bought strawberries. I love strawberries, other than blood, they're my favorite food." He took two strawberries out of the box and replaced it. Eating the strawberries before walking back out into the living room, Alex smiled as he looked around, saying, "I wish my apartment was this clean... I barely have enough room for my coffin, but I sleep on the couch more often than not... Well then, see you tomorrow night, 8:00 on the dot." With that, Alex bowed once more and teleported to his own apartment. Sighing as he flopped down onto the couch, he kicked off his shoes and removed his holster. Falling asleep almost instantly, the sun was coming up.

Rae's jaw clenched at his comment about her outfit. She looked damn fine, and he knew it. But she was going to give him a run for his money, and just for that comment, when he extended his hand, she pinched the back of his bicep before taking his hand and closing her eyes.
When she opened them, she was suprised to find they were standing in the living room of her apartment. Rae didn't know Alex even knew where she lived, and was more than embarassed to have him standing in her space. It was sparse at best, with a newspaper littering the coffee table and her bedroom door, showing off some laudry she had been folding on her bed before the call had come. Her delicates, at that. She hurried forward to shut the door, and tried to tidy up as best she could.
Rae heard him rummaging around in the kitchen and then the fridge door opened. "I didn't think I needed your approval on my grocery list." She called back as she straightened, running her fingers through her dark hair and looking around for anything else embarassing Alex could stumble over. She headed towards the kitchen, but Alex was already gone.
Rae sighed, and took out the box of strawberries with a smile. There's something we have in common. I love strawberries too. Rae cut the stems off and popped two strawberries in her mouth as she made her way to the bathroom. The sun was just starting to come up as she showered, and by the time she was dressed and ready for her day job, it was 8am.
She went to work, and when the end of the shift came at 3pm, Rae went home and napped til 5, then decided she'd better go buy a dress so as not to upset Alex. At six, she found the perfect dress. By seven, she was in the shower again, and by seven fifty nine, she was dressed, her hair and make up done, finished off with heels and a small bit of her favourite lily perfume, waiting anxiously without trying to look anxious.
Rae checked her reflection in the mirror, smiling. She had her hair pulled partly back, long, loose curls flowing down her back. Having her hair pinned back the way it did, showed off her face. The mascara made her eyelashes long and think, making her emerald green eyes the focus point, and just a little colour on her full lips and cheeks to compliment. The dress was strapless, leaving her shoulders bare and exposing just the right amount of skin. The dress itself was red, but had a black lace overlay. It was high waisted to show off her hourglass figure, and it stopped just above the knee to show off her shapely legs and pretty black heels.
She'd never had an occasion to wear a dress before, but she felt like she had gotten it right. Rae only hoped Alex felt the same. She laid a hand over her stomach as she tried to calm the butterflies she was suddenly feeling as the clock on her dresser beeped 8 o'clock.

Alex slept soundly until 4 in the afternoon, at which point, he awoke to the sun shining through his curtains, not a foot from his head. Slowly inching his way away from the sunlight, Alex walked to the side of the window and shifted the curtains so they blocked the sun. Yawning, he walked into the kitchen and looked for his phone. Finding it underneath a few discarded blood pack wrappers. He opened the phone, and dialed the number for the restaurant. After reserving a table for two at 8:30, he walked over to his closet and opened it up. Looking for a very specific outfit, one he hadn't worn in a while. Throwing his identical work outfits aside and out of his way, he found the one outfit that was in the very back of his large closet. He pulled out the dark crimson suit, made for him by the finest Italian tailor in the 1950's, up to his exact specifications.
The suit looked brand new and looked like something a very rich man would wear to a party today, it didn't look a day out of fashion. Pulling a box off of the top shelf in the closet, as he snapped his fingers and his current clothes swapped with the suit almost instantly. Setting the silk lined box on the table, Alex looked at himself in a mirror, the suit looked very nice, as did the pair of white gloves he was wearing, his shoes were shined to an almost supernatural shimmer. He materialized a comb from nowhere and combed his normally messy hair into a slick, handsome style. Turning from the mirror, he looked out the window, to see the sun going down. As soon as it was dark enough for him to leave, which was around 6, Alex did so, but not before opening the box and putting on what was inside. Inside the box was a pair of diamond cuff-links, that his father had given him.
Turning for the door after the cuff-links were fastened to his shirt, he walked out into the slowly darkening streets while putting his sunglasses on. As he walked, he noticed the fact that it was significantly warmer than the night before, but still quite cold out. He yawned behind a gloved hand as he walked down the street to a florists shop. Seeing how bare Rae's apartment was made him think she might need a little bit of decoration to spice things up. Looking over their selection of fresh flowers, Alex remembered how he had originally gleaned a few of her thoughts when first opening the door to her mind, and how one of those thoughts was that her favorite flowers were lilies. Picking out 6 of the best lilies they had he also, bought a fine vase for them. It was now 7:58, Alex had spent more time walking than he thought. Paying the cashier and leaving the florist, Alex teleported to Rae's apartment as he rounded the corner. He waited until exactly 8:00 then knocked on her door lightly.
Waiting for Rae to open the door, he smiled lightly. When she opened the door, he bowed slightly, careful not to drop the vase with the flowers, saying, "I have come to escort you to dinner my lady. Please accept these flowers as a token of my gratitude for allowing me this pleasure of accompanying you... as friends of course." He walked inside the apartment and set the vase with the lilies on the table. He was about to leave them there, but remembered something. He walked over to the vase and stuck his hand inside it, his finger just barely touching the water, as the same fog from when he repaired Rae's shirt seeped out and into the water. The lilies in the vase turned from their normal white coloring with pink tint towards the center, into deep red, with a white tint towards the center. Removing his hand, he smiled and said, "There you go. Vampire lilies, they'll live for many years now. All you need to do is water them and keep them out of direct sunlight and they'll be fine. You look absolutely stunning... you could make weaker men fall to their knees and weep. And I mean that in a very good way." He looked her figure up and down, her hair hanging down beautifully, eyes glistening like jewels, he paused on her neck a few times, but not for very long, as he wanted to take in the entire spectacle, not just one of the attractions.
Remembering the fact that he was a gentleman first and a vampire second, he wavered his gaze, as it was impolite to stare. Turning to look out the window, he hid the fact that his fangs had extended into his bottom lip, he did not turn until a few moments later once he had control over that. He smiled again and said, "It's a wonderful night out, and we still have some time before we must leave for the restaurant. Would you accompany me to the roof?" Alex held out a hand, not because he was going to teleport them to the roof, but because he wanted to walk with her up there, he had something special planned for her.

Rae swallowed hard at the knock on the door, and patted her dress down once more for good measure. She winged a slient prayer to whoever was up there that she didn't make a fool of herself, and opened the door.
It was a good thing Alex started speaking and immediately moved inside, because Rae was rooted to the spot. She felt her breath catch in her throat. She couldn't possibly take her eyes off him, her heart beating wildly in her chest. As long as they'd worked together, she'd only ever seen Alex in his signature outfit. Tonight, he looked immaculate, like some glorious statue of the gods come to life to take her to dinner.
Rae remembered to breathe just as Alex changed the lillies into a gorgeous deep red, with a pristine white centre. "Alex, they're beautiful, thank you." she breathed, her handresting on her colar bone. Whether consciously or unconsciously, Rae had left her throat bare, opting out of wearing a necklace. She watched him as he stood there, not saying anything, presumeably looking her over. She wanted so badly to step up to him and take those sunglasses off and see the way he looked at her.
It was then Rae realized she would probably just fit under his chin barefoot. As it was, she would just be able to rest her head on his shoulder. That's what was on her mind as Alex turned to face the window. Rae had been admiring his dark hair against the colour of his suit when he turned to face her again, his smile causing a mirrored smile of her own. "Th...The roof? she stammered, before getting her composure. "Sure, but I don't think there's anything up there. It's just a roof." None the less, she took his hand, but then thought of something.
"Just one second." Rae turned back to the vase of the vampire lillies and took one out, tucking the stem behind her ear so that the beautiful red flower sat beside her face. To her delight, the lilly matched the colour of her dress perfectly. "Ready." She smiled up at him, green eyes shining as she took his hand once more and let herself be led out of her apartment.
