Life seemed perfectly calm and quiet for Ahnik and his harem but everybody who was a part of this little family knew there was a lot more going on. Tabia did a marvelous job keeping Anju busy while Ahnik spent his time lounging with Kikimu, hoping to get her to warm up to him. Kiki and Anju got no time alone but that was intentional and occasionally.. Ahnik seemed regretful. At least to them.
It was a bright and sunny morning, and the day was likely to be the same. Tabia had taken Anju on a hunt, knowing they would need to keep busy for a while. They'd agreed time to act on the rest of the plan was coming, but it had to work or things could get messy. Hopefully they could avoid that, though.
Ahnik was laying out in the sun not far from the den, waiting for Kiki to come and join him.

The one thing that had kept the yellow lioness going was that she had Anju, no matter how horrible the situation she was in, she had her partner. They didn't get much time alone, but Kikimu was happy to just see the other female throughout her day. She was sure that they'd find away out of this, they had to be able to escape.
The only good thing about the capture was...well she didn't have to do much, Ahnik apparently just wanted company. She heard that it could be a lot worse and that at times lionesses had been mistreated, even passed around among males.
Ahnik seemed sort of sweet, almost charming during their time alone, although that's how Kiki found herself in this position in the first place, being too trusting and listening to someone else. She blamed herself for their predicament and was determined that they would find away out of it, somehow, the thought of just making the best of what they had hadn't yet crossed her mind.
Kikimu walked toward Ahnik, "Good morning, Ahnik." She tried to sound chipper, to curb the nervousness inside of her, for now it was best to play along.

"Good morning, Kiki," he returned, using a more familiar name for her- a habit he'd adopted in hopes of seeming friendlier with her. Her cheerful tone was encouraging but he could not get too far ahead of himself. He stretched out his front legs and shifted his weight a little so he was reclined more comfortably and looking towards Kiki.
"Tabia and Anju have gone hunting, it's just the two of us this morning," he said, smiling.

"Anju is a skilled hunter, I am sure they'll come back with something," she commented and sat near Ahnik, not directly beside him, but close enough to show she was comfortable with the idea of being near him.
"How wonderful," she murmured and flashed him a smile, "Anything thrilling planned for our day?" Perhaps a rounding game of hide and seek? Like cubs, I'll hide..you stay put.

"Yes, we have been eating very well," he agreed, looking out in the distance thoughtfully, "We're lucky to have more than the one huntress. I'm sure Tabia is grateful for the help, too."
He knew the murmur was a bad sign but she was making an effort to be cheerful so things were still good enough. He looked back in time to catch her smile.
"I didn't have anything in particular in mind," he said, "What do you think?"

She nodded, it was lucky for him that he had two lionesses to hunt for him, she whole heartedly agreed that Tabia was lucky to be spending time with Anju.
"Honestly?" she faked a very stern look as if it was a hard decision.
"I think sunbathing should be our top priority, mixed with a little bit of actual bathing. You've got bits of dirt all over you," she meant it kindly, trying her best to be friendly. "I'm thinking we could both use a bit of cleaning." she laughed, it wavered slightly with her nerves, but was a genuine laugh all the same.

Ahnik genuinely chuckled at her suggestion, it wasn't very original- they seemed to do a lot of sunbathing.. but it was comfortable and relaxing enough. And he probably could use a bath.
"That sounds like a good way to spend our morning," he said and then shook out his mane, grinning, "Are you going to help me? You seem to have a better eye for grooming needs."

"G-going to help you?" She wondered out loud, well it wasn't like picking out specs of dirt was going to kill her, and it would show that she's trying to co-operate. Besides the most obvious character flaw of kidnapping her, Kiki found Ahnik to be a nice lion, not necessarily one to be completely trusted.
She stood inching toward him and sat near enough that her side was touching his. See, this isn't so bad, it's not like you're promising you'll stay forever, you're making the best of the situation, and soon enough you'll be gone and put it all behind you..right? She monologued inwardly, a common habit she had.
"Where to start?" She laughed again.

Ahnik watched Kiki as she reacted to his question, always smiling. It was an innocent enough question, she had suggested grooming, after all. It was interesting to try to watch her mind go, and her decision to cooperate was nice.
He didn't answer her question and instead lifted a paw to groom while assuming she might just jump in on helping him groom without his direction. It seemed she just might.
"You'd be a good mother," he commented thoughtfully.

After a mental shrug, Kiki went to work cleaning some of the fur on his shoulder, mid lick she stopped. A good mother? She continued licking and then stopped again.
"I'll never become a mother, n-not that I wouldn't want to be..I just.." she stopped and let out her air slowly. What was she saying? "I mean, it's just that.." She lapsed into silence thinking, it's just that two females can't have cubs..she and Anju were a family of two..plus two sneaking, conniving lions who were holding them captive.

Ahnik hesitated and put his paw back on the ground, looking over at Kiki as she stammered in response to his comment. Useful information- and she clearly wasn't thinking what he was thinking to suggest ultimately.
"I didn't mean to touch a nerve, I just imagine that's something a mother would have to be good with, grooming," he said, shrugging and hesitating before continuing, "My mother died when I was little, I could be wrong."

Kikimu inhaled and then let her breath out slowly. He wasn't trying to make her feel bad, he was making conversation..that's all, right?
"I suppose it would be a good trait for a mother," she paused, "You didn't touch a nerve, well, maybe." She was admitting to more than she should probably.
"Wasn't there anyone that groomed you?" she asked before thinking that made that too could be a sore spot.

"My father was around but that's not the same," he said, shrugging again. It wasn't really the same as having a mother- so he guessed. But then, all the mothers around the Outlands had been interesting examples. Kikimu did seem she would be much better as a mother.. but even he wasn't entirely sure where he got that image with lionesses like Sarafina around.
But that didn't really matter.
"You could be a mother, you know," he said carefully.

She nodded, fathers were different than mothers, although they could play similar roles it wasn't exactly the same as a mother's love.
Kiki wasn't quite sure how to respond to that, the thought had crossed her mind once or twice, that it would indeed be possible to get pregnant..but it would be a situation that would take a lot of patience and understanding from both Anju and herself.
"I could be, but, but I wouldn't want to betray her," she knew some of the fear Anju harbored about Kiki leaving her for someone who could provide her with a real, "I wish so much..that we could have cubs together...Anju and I."
She wasn't sure what he was getting at, wasn't sure if it was a nonchalant statement or a hint. Kiki watched him thoughtfully.
