Brief Character Description: I made Sky Brush with the theme of “freedom” in mind. Not those political-social freedom one keeps hearing on the news but the simple freedom one sees in a child as she runs laughing through a field of flower (or other such scenarios). Sky Brush is supposed to, in a way, convey that kind of freedom. This little pony finds no better joy than to feel the wind under her wings as she flies through the sky with graceful gliding motions. Another “freedom” that she represents would be the fluent artistic freedom one sees in many artists (which I am in awe of). The quick and confident stroke of a practiced hand that seems to make everything looks so easy…
With those two aspects in mind, I remembered a book called
Walt Disney's Grandpa Bunny that was read to me when I was young. The concept of sky painting seemed so wonderful and beautiful and sad at the same time. That, I decided, would be Sky Brush’s special talent. But instead of actually painting the sky, she would fly around the clouds above Phonyland and with a simple flick of her wing here and a tilting of a flight pattern there; shape the clouds into an assortment of shapes. So that the unicorn shaped cloud that you see in the sky is actually
intended to be unicorn shaped. Well, in Phonyland at least.
When on the ground, Sky Brush tends to move about in a quick light hearted trot as though gravity does not have much of a hold on her. The gait isn’t exactly energetic but it’s free flowing and light. Sky Brush is also carefree and does not worry easily.
