The cream colored mare walked slowly through the open plan unsure of what she could do with herself. She was at a point of no return. Her heart still ached and her blood was getting colder and colder with anger towards love. She wanted it deeply, but it never seemed to want her. Then again she may be looking for it in the wrong places. Maybe what she needed was more of a family. Someone that she could call father or mother. A brother or sister would be nice too, but she didn't have to even have that. She just wanted something more then being alone. She didn't know what she wanted at this point in time, but she knew she wanted something. Shaking the chill from her mane, she stopped at a lonely tree. She snorted before finally laying down beneath it's bear branches.
She wanted to have fun again. Fun like she use to have when she was a filly, but sadly no one has broken her out of the shell she puts herself in. No one has helped her break free of the binds she constricted around herself all these years. As she thought about it more, she couldn't help but cry. Tears ran down her cheeks like someone turned on the sink faucets. She didn't like to cry because she always felt so weak afterwards. She didn't like being portrayed as someone that couldn't handle themselves. She felt the breeze sweep across her muzzle causing her to sniffle and lay her head down on her hooves. She was lost in every meaning of the word.

Ayidan shivered a bit as he headed towards home. He'd been off on a ramble, enjoying the changing scenery, even if it WAS cold, but it was time to be headed towards home. He knew it was close, he could see the trees getting some what less sporadic, so the woods couldn't be far off. Besides, he knew this area, at least, and he could navigate well enough that he rarely got lost. Smiling a bit, he gave his had a slight toss, to get his hair from off his face, and looked around as he moved. He paused, for a moment. Was that a flash of cream over there? It was. He looked curiously towards it, the tree between him and ... ah a mare. She seemed to be alone. For a moment, he stood still, trying to decide if he should approach. After all, she might wish to be alone. Studying her, though, he decided he should approach. And the sound of a sniffle on the wind made his decision all the firmer. He nodded softly, and turned, trotting towards her. His own shyness was something he'd have to fight, as usual, but he could do it. Besides, no one liked to be alone, especially when cold. As he drew close, he softly called out "Huh...Hello...? A...a...are you a...a..alright there?" He cursed, mentally, at the damn stutter, but he had to try and he hoped he would not upset her. At least he knew his tone, beyond the stutter, was gentle. He should be pretty non threatening, he didn't want to frighten anyone!

The cream colored mare looked up at the stallion before her. Oh how embarrassing it was to have someone witness her in such a weak state. She cursed herself in her mind wishing she could just crawl under a rock. It would have to be a very large rock though. "Hello..." She said lightly with her cries nearly muffled the word. She looked away from him once again feeling her embarrassment creep on her like the plague. She rose to her feet sniffling away any tears she had that wanted to creep down her muzzle. She wasn't going to let them. Not this time.
"I will be alright...sorry to have you worrying about me." She told him with a slight sigh and the saddest tone of voice in the world. "I don't want to trouble you with my depression." She said to him nodding to confirm her nod. She really didn't want to stick around him in this state. It wasn't his fault it was hers. She looked at him once more with sad eyes. This side of her was one she rarely showed. One she rarely let other people see. She didn't want them to see her like this. "My name is Hydro..." She told him feeling a need to at least state who she was. In case it mattered later.

He listened to all she had to say, and tried not to frown. Whatever was going on here, he wasn't going leave this poor mare alone. She admitted to being depressed, and he wondered if there was more to it then that. After a moment of contemplating her, he said "I a...am Ay...Ayidan. I...i...it would b...b..be rude of me to lea...lea...leave you alone, even i...if I w...w...was the sort to want t...t..to." He pawed the earth a little with his hoof, contemplating her further. "N...no, I will not be s...so cr...cr...cruel as to leave you a..alone on su...su...such a cold, lon...lonely day."
He shook his head, wishing he could lose the stutter. Surely she thought him an idiot... but it could not be helped. Whatever had her so sad, he would try to alleviate some of it. Surely it was nothing more, and nothing less, then exactly the right thing to do. "Th...there are wa...warmer places ne...nearby, w...would you p...permit me to sh...show you th... the way there? You c...could wa...warm yourself, and perhap it w...will help you fe...feel better. And y...you... pardon m...m...me for saying so bu...but you lo...look like you could us...use a fr...fr..fr..iend."

Hydro listened to the male’s words carefully and barely noticed his stuttering. She found it cute to be honest. “Well thank you for staying. I don’t really want to be left alone so this will be goo for me to talk with someone.” She told him giving a firm nod as if to justify what she just said to him. “I’m happy that someone can tolerate me. I’m not the most happy horse around at the moment and you don’t seem to mind at all.” She smiled feeling more relieved then ever at the moment.
“I don’t really get cold too much Ayidan. I only started feeling the coldness of the air just recently. But maybe your right..” She said to him lightly as she began to walk with him. “Plus you seem rather cold yourself. Why not follow me to my home? I know the way.” She smiled as he walked away from him towards the mountains.

He smiled at her, in a kind way, and nodded. "N...no one shou...should be alone un...un...unless they tr...tr..truly are happier that way. I di...di...didn't think you we...were one such, so...somehow." He nodded again, listening to her words. "I ap...appreciate p...people who pu...put up with the f...f...fact that I st...st..stutter until I get to kn...know them, and do...don't laugh. If I ca...ca...can help someone else, and sh...share that, I am do...doing right. And ev...even without others who do...don't..." He smiled a little more. "I thi...think you shouldn't ha...have to be happy fo...for others to want to ke...keep company with you."
Listening to the second part, he tilted his head, in interest. "It mu...must be nice to no...not feel the cold so much." He shivered slightly. "I ca...can ignore it, and the wi...winter coat helps, but it d...does start to bite a...after a time." He tilted his head, then nodded. "Th...that would be n...nice. It so...sounds as if yo...yours might be closer then m...mine. Th...Th...Thank you."

The mare tilted her head slightly at the stallion. He was right and she really shouldn't be alone. It wasn't good for her at the moment in the kind of state she was in. "Your right. I shouldn't be alone it will only make me miserable, but I have no family. My mother and father are dead as well as my little brother. What am I suppose to do?" She asked him shaking her head slightly. "There is nothing wrong with how your speak. People judge too quickly and in fact I find it kind of comforting in a way." She said to him moving over slightly and nuzzling him a little bit. "Thank you. I will try to be happy for myself and not for others. It will probably make me a much happier mare in the process." She nodded looking away from him a little bit.
"It is nice, but at the same time it's not. I feel like I'm deadening my emotions sometimes because of it. I don't know. I guess...I just want to not feel sometimes." She frowned and looked to him again examining him a little more. "I was wondering. Would you care to be my father? To watch over me?" She asked him in a serious tone of voice before a smile curled on his lips a bit.

He listened to her words, and looked saddened, in the sympathetic way, at the mention of her family. "M...my sorrows for y...your loss, Hydro. If y...y...you wish company a...a...at any t...time, pl...pl...please don't hesitate to a...a...ask. I...i...i.. am more then willing to be there with you." He smiled slowly at her comments on his speech. "We...we...well at le...le...least it's a co...co...comfort to some o...one. I a...a...admit to finding it f...fr...frustrating, some days, bu...but that is h...how it is, and I c...cope. An...and ha...ave le...learned to be h...happy in m...my...myself despite it." He bobs his head, thinking about her words. "I wo...would hope. If n...nothing else, be s...satisfied wi...with who you are, whi...whi...while knowing the... there is al...always room to gr..grow."
He blinks at the comment on her emotions. "So...sometimes, it is go...good to de...deaden them, because it ca....ca...can be hard to ge...get things do...do...done when trapped by e...e...emotions. But no...no...not often, or al...al...always. Fe...fe...feelings are impo...portant." He tilted his head at the frown, wondering what brought it on, then his brows raised, in simple surprise at her question. He went silent, obviously considering her statement, then smiled slowly. "I w...wo...would be ho...honored, Hydro, to ha...ha...have you as a da...daughter." He nodded, thinking about it, but smiling.

The blue haired mare eyed the stallion before her some more wondering if he really meant what he was saying. She had learned over time to be very wary of what others say because it could very well be a lie. She was lied to a lot already so believing him would probably be the biggest leap of her life right now. But he could very well mentor her and be there as a father figure. She was willing to take that chance. Something just felt a little right about it, but the on the other hand it would be a long road of development.
"You are right. There is always time to grow now matter what. I have grown a lot over my life and feel that I am better now then I have ever been. I use to be very bad and pretty emotionless but now I feel...like this is where I should be with my life. Do you ever have that kind of feeling?"
She asked the stallion with a tilt of her head. She thought a bit about excepting him as her father. She wouldn't mind it still and probably would enjoy having someone to go to when she needed. He seemed like the loyal kind and her emotions were so haywire at the moment that it wouldn't be a bad idea.
"Then it's settled...you will be my father and I will be your daughter. If you will accept me that is?"
She attempted a small smile and it was the only thing she could make at the moment. She was trying her hardest to be strong. She had to be for the sake of her and her new father.

Ayidan looked at his newly adopted daughter, his eyes full of only care and concern for the young mare. He was as honest as could be, only ever telling white lies when it came to avoiding repeating harmful gossip. He’d rather lie and say he didn’t know such, then pass on things that would hurt another. He found himself wondering what was going through her young mind as she eyed him. When she spoke again, he nodded, listening to her words.
“A w…wise way to v…view things. T…to accept y…yourself, and t…t…the feeling of ‘I a…a…am where I am m…m…meant to be’ is hard, but a s…sign of strength. Y…yes, I have. Ev…ev…eventually, I found myself growing p…p…past it, again, b…but every so often I g…get that feeling.”
He curved his neck a little, stretching it, as he thought about what he could offer this young mare. Acceptance, of course, and caring, but he would work hard to provide her whatever else she felt she needed for this. He just hoped to prove worthy of the trust that implied, asking him to be her adoptive father.
“O…of course I d..do, Hydro. I a…am honored, t…t…to be sure, that you w…would want me as s…s...such.”
He gave her a warm smile, and ran his hoof through dirt as he thought, a habit he was wholly unaware he did.

Hydro watched the other closely and for once she smiled at the other individual. She was a little happier knowing she was going to have a family even if it wasn't her real father. He would be as real a father to her then anyone else would be.
"I know what you mean and your right. It is something that you have to grow past and get strong from. It's hard, but I'm still here and have been able to stay on my feet as much as I could. It's just strange when I think about it. Strange that I went through so many changes in my life."
She nodded to him as she flicked her tail a little behind herself. She thought about how she use to be angry and ashamed of herself. Wishing she could find closure to the death of her family, but now she is more reserved and calmer. She loved life, but sadly had so much trouble adapting to so many things in it.
"Of course. I will also be here for you as well. No matter what happens...Dad you can come to me for anything. Alright?"
She smiled warmly to him before walking slowly over and nuzzling him affectionately as a sealing of the deal kind of thing.
